Phil Collins went on his final world tour with his band, Genesis, a few years ago. I saw the band at Madison Square Garden in Dec 2021. Poor Phil Collins....since the Genesis Tour in 2007, he's experienced a variety of neck and spinal issues, as well as complications from many surgeries. He now walks with a cane and can no longer play the drums. For the final Genesis tour, he performed on stage while sitting in a chair. His son, Nic Collins, took over the drumming. To be honest, the show was AMAZING! Phil's voice was still powerful and wonderful. While he has said he will not tour with Genesis again, he has not ruled out going on another, more relaxed and personal, solo tour. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! 😊
The film "Against All Odds" is best remembered for the inclusion of the title song, which gave Phil his first solo number 1 hit on the Billboard charts, and earned him the Grammy for best male pop vocal performance in 1985.
In a 2007 story on the National Public Radio show This American Life, Phil Collins explained how he did not write songs with Genesis, but was motivated to write solo material to deal with the pain of his personal life. Said Collins: "That song was written during my first divorce. My first wife and the kids had gone and I was left there. The song was written out of experience as opposed to a 'what if' song. If that personal stuff had not happened to me at the time, I probably would never have made an album, and if I was to have made an album eventually, it probably would have been a jazz/rock thing. Without that stuff I wouldn't have felt the stuff I felt sitting at a piano night after night, day after day writing stuff." Peace out.
I love Phil Collins, and he sounds great live which I can't say many do. Makes me sad that he has so much pain in his body, wish it could be corrected. Thank you BP👍❤️
From 1980 thru 1994, my life calendar was based around Phil Collins and Genesis concerts. At least 5 times a year for the 80s and 3 times in the 90s. Only the Grateful Dead filled my calendar more. I saw the Dead minimum 10 times a year from 1985 to 1995.
That was when I discovered music! I was 7 when this song came out and my older brother loved Genesis and both Phil and Peter Gabriel. I immediately gravitated to Phil's solo career since I was 4 he debuted "In the Air Tonight". I remember my brother recording this from the radio and teaching me the lyrics so I could harmonize with him. So many great childhood memories with my brother revolve around Phil Collins! ❤
You got it dude. A lot of Heartbreak in his life from that first marriage. I always wondered what if he didn't have this outlet of sharing his feelings with us fans. We feel his pain but celebrate the ability to share feelings with people that probably had the same type of experience. He is really a R&B singer at heart.
Phil Collins/Genesis - Follow You Follow Me - Mama - Misunderstanding - Turn It On Again - No Reply at All - Do You Remember - Don't Lose my Number - Easy Lover - Another Day in Paradise
Love Phil Collins he’s One of the greatest vocalist I’ve heard very unique voice you have to react to his song I wish it would rain down the video version features Eric Clapton playing guitar
I also love 'I Wish It Would Rain Down' with Eric Clapton - the guitar solos are amazing! Great collaboration! They are actually good friends and have collaborated on other songs over the years.
He is awesome, I saw him in the concert in the 70s. God bless him he can't play anymore. He can/could play every instrument on stage. I had front row seats at the concert in the 70s. No he not touring anymore
This performance was his second of the day! It was for Live Aid. Phil performed at Wembley stadium in London & then hopped on the Concord for a flight to the US so he could perform in Philadelphia for the crowd there that night! Gave excellent performances on both stages & also filled in on drums for a few other bands. Love his voice & he sings with such heartfelt emotion. He was such a great songwriter among his many talents. ❤❤❤
Just wanna give a little credit to his Live Aid performances on two continents in one day: Phil Collins was the only artist to play both continents during that intercontinental concert. He played Wembley Stadium, London, UK, boarded a plane, flew to Philadelphia, PA, USA to perform at JFK stadium. When he arrived he could not find a piano that was still in tune. He still rocked it. Bless him for that passion and effort.
You can't go wrong with Phil Collins!!! And Black Pegasus, we can't go wrong with you! You do an excellent job! And the pics of your new little baby girl is so precious! Eat up every minute you have with her!!!
I think I've said this so excuse me if i am repeating myself. Phil Collins was a great live performer and was the only artist who sang in the UK and Philadelphia stadiums for Live Aid. He sang one 20 minute set, jumped on a plane, and then sang another 20 minute set. I remember that as being incredibly cool.
He jumped on the CONCORDE to be specific. No longer in flight it was the fastest passenger plane w/only 3 in existence at the time. I believe it flew across the Atlantic from London to NYC in about 2 hours. Amazing plane.

Phil Collins is a SUPERSTAR FOREVER !! Thank you BP for taking me back into this emotional music which has touched so many people over many years. I agree with you about today's generation not being truly connected to what is important. Their WHOLE lives have been hijacked by tehnology. They think THAT is a relationship, and miss out on the human personal bonding which is the only way that real romance can occur. Hopefully, they are just SO young that in time they will gain a more realistic concept of what's important mainly, faith, family, purpose, and love . And from artists like our dear Phil, we understand that deep feelings are real- sometimes painful, sometimes beautiful- and it is o.k, to express them. Feeling loss does not mean you are weak, it means you are human and it is understood by everyone who allows themselves to feel vulnerable. I wish for everyone to know true Love. 🤗❣
I love Phil Collins! I saw him in concert when he was with Genesis. So talented. Great song writer, plays drums, amazing performer. Just a great talent. Unfortunately, he has back issues because of years of drumming. He’s retired from performing. I wish him the best!
"health issues began in 2007 when he dislocated vertebrae in his neck during a Genesis reunion tour. The injury caused lasting nerve damage, ultimately forcing Phil to give up drumming. “After playing drums for 50 years, I’ve had to stop,” he wrote in 2009, per Daily Mail. “My vertebrae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in""
His son Nick has been drumming for him for a while now as well as for Genesis shows. He started performing for Phil when he was like 16-17 and is amazing and down to earth and humble. He has some videos on Drumeo and they are great.
I'm 46 .... I listened to Phil growing up and he has always been one of my favorites. I got to see him live in Philly when he was on the First Final Farewell Tour ... he was amazing ... started the show on a platform hanging over the main stage just tearing it up on drums ... It was a once in a lifetime moment
If you have seen the movie, the meaning of this song is crystal clear. It fits beautifully with the plot. Great movie and song. This is my first time hearing this song live and his voice is amazing.
Phil Collins @ The Live Aid concert , check out that performance - he sang this- live and playing piano- in front of millions of people there and all over the world , watching the Live Aid concert in Wembly stadium in England- he really knocked this song out straight out to the universe!
Sadly, I think during a concert in I think 2011 he broke a vertebrae in his neck while playing the drums. It messed up one of his arms and hand so he's not able to play anymore. The he was diagnosed with diabetes and his health has gone downhill. I saw a clip yesterday and he was on stage and announced that it was the last concert for Genesis. (This was in 2022) He is unrecognizable to the Phil we're used to seeing. He looks like he's 90 years old instead of his early 70s. It made me cry actually, because you know he's suffered from his health issues! I'll always love him though for all his talent as a songwriter, musician and performer! He wrote this song and a few others when his wife left him. ( I think for another man) What a talent to be able to write your heartbreak into words in a song! His songs express how you feel when you're going through it. His songs got me through a lot of emotions in my 20s and 30s. Both sad and Happy times. Thank you Phil, your music will never have an expectation date, because it's Timeless! ❤️❤️

PHIL COLLINS IS THE BEST SINGER AROUND...THERE IS NO OTHER PHIL COLLINS AND HE IS A LEGEND...HIS MUSIC WILL LIVE ON AND ON...PHIL COLLIN VOICE IS INCREDIBLE
Phil Collins was an amazing singer, songwriter, drummer, entertainer, & just all-round wonderful human. Unfortunately, like you BP, I was never able to catch him in concert before painful injuries made him retire several years ago. That final performance was done sitting down & he has a cane to help him walk. You could tell it was killing him emotionally to give that up. Even retired, he has a loyal fan base he stays in touch with via social media. Nobody like him. As a Texan, I'm still hoping to go back to the Alamo & see his collection of Alamo items he'd collected since childhood and donated to the Alamo a few years back. He's left such a legacy to his fans.
Hello, young one, welcome to the world of the greatest music ever written, produced and performed. Hope you continue to share it with the other young one. You’re priceless!
After a really rough break up with my ex fiance I played this on repeat and just cried.it helped me heal and move on...Phil Collins is my go to whenever I'm sad,his voice soothes me and his lyrics speak to my heart.thanks for checking him out again.🎶❤✌
I fell in love with this song when I was a 15 yo teenager because the lyrics resonated with me on so many levels. I identified them with the sense of loss and hopelessness that a teenage boy without a father in his broken home feels. I also related them to a sense of being disconnected from, and my true self being unseen by, those around me and the world in general. My life experience has only enriched and deepened my profound personal connection to the song; Hence, it has been my LITERAL favorite song for nearly 40 years. "Against All Odds" has been an integral part of the soundtrack of my life: My cathartic hymn of spiritual lamentation for the loss of what was and/or what could have been in so many parts of my life's journey. Thanks for the great reaction, B.P.! Cheers!

I love it when reactors essentially say I was born in the wrong era. That's when you know they are truly feeling and understanding music from the 80's and 90's. I'm too young for the 70's 🙂 but great songs there too.
Amazing song... I think it was used for a TV series at the time. About an impossible love. A forbidden love even.... Had my fair share of impossible love. This sons always hits home. LJ
@BlackPegasus The song was written for the movie 'Against All Odds,' featuring Rachel Ward as the lov interest between the rivals James Woods and Jeff Bridges. Well worth the watch.
You should also listen to his other soundtrack song from 1985, "Separate Lives", a duet with the singer Marilyn Martin, which featured on the soundtrack to the film "White Nights". It's a wonderful song. 😊
I was lucky enough to see him not too many yrs ago while he was still able and on his feet. It was amazing and just hit after hit. I'm so grateful too because he isn't able to really do that now. He was someone I grew up with and is definitely on my all time faves list so it made me sad to see recent shows where he had to sit. He was a bucket list show that thankfully I got to ✅️ . Keep going down the endless rabbit hole. It's a big one.
I saw Phil Collins in concert back in the 80's at Madison Square Garden, 10 th row in the center. I was 18 then, a lot older now, and a hell of a lot more concerts under my belt, but to this day, I still say it was the BEST concert I have ever been to. He played the drums for about 90% of the show and sang of course and it was AMAZING. I still remember that night, and still have the pictures I took. LOL. He did his final concert in 2022 reuniting with Genesis for his farewell. Sadly, his health had him in a wheelchair. Although I did hear that he has some dates setting up for 2024. Not sure how true that is, but I would love to see him again.
Ive been a fan of Phils since the 70s Genesis, when I got to see him live in the 90s, after having heard this song countess times, his heartfelt rendition still brought me to tears. He was soooo good.
Great song and reaction! ALL of his songs are great!! He's one of a kind!! I'd love to see you ck out AMERICA!!!! "A horse with no name or Ventura Highway"!! You'll LOVE IT!!!!❤
Lily Collens played as Ted Bundys girlfriend on the Netfix movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Metallica singer James Hetfield played the Utah highway patrol officer who first arrested him.
Bless him he does have health problems and performance stage of life is ending but he has had amazing singing, drumming, writing and acting. His last tour he was seated but still Phil xx
More Phil please❤ This song is my favorite of his but, he cannot make a bad song. The man can sing, play the drums and certainly write amazing songs.. Take me Home live in Paris... You wont regret it, it's got everything that is Phil Collins IMO
There is so much to choose from between Phil's solo performances and the Genesis concerts. The drum duets between Chester and Phil are done at every live performance of Phil and Genesis. You will not be disappointed.
This song was written as the title track of the movie Against All Odds, Phil did other soundtracks as well. Check out "You'll be in my heart" which he wrote for the Disney movie Tarzan.
one of my favorite songs! This is a song by English drummer, singer and songwriter Phil Collins. It was recorded for the soundtrack to the 1984 film of the same name. Phil Collins did not want to be the singer. He wanted to be the drummer, which for him was the most respectable part of the group. 'I've always felt the singer was the cheapest gig in the band, 'cause all they had to do was look good and wiggle their bum,' Phil said.
Incredible song and also a really good movie. Phil was one of the biggest artists in the 80's/early 90's both as a solo artist and with Genesis. He could do no wrong. Everything he put out was a hit, or so it seemed. The guy has so much talent.
Phil Collins was the second lead singer of Genesis, but most people forget about the Peter Gabriel era. I would highly recommend Collin's Genesis song "No Son of Mine." "Supper's Ready" is listed as the best song of the Gabriel era.
From a 1984 movie "Against All Odds" starring Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward. Awesome.
I was coming here to say this too.
Wasn’t Michael Douglas in this?

Love Phil Collins and this song. I think you'll love it too.
Cheers!
I'm glad you persevered against the odds. Not very many do. Peace and blessings. ✌️🙏
So eloquently put. It’s amazing how certain songs follow us throughout our lives. Much love from 🇨🇦❤.
@@MamaJewels99 "Ura" ("thank you") for taking the time to share such kind thoughts. 🤝 Much affection from this nʉmʉnʉʉ (person) of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma , United States of America. 💯
I love it when reactors essentially say I was born in the wrong era. That's when you know they are truly feeling and understanding music from the 80's and 90's. I'm too young for the 70's 🙂 but great songs there too.
Beautiful song, thank you
Amazing song...
I really like watching your show I watch it when I can I really appreciate it good personality
You should also listen to his other soundtrack song from 1985, "Separate Lives", a duet with the singer Marilyn Martin, which featured on the soundtrack to the film "White Nights". It's a wonderful song. 😊
Yes separate lives and wish it would rain down our phenomenal songs with amazing vocals
Loved this song, and still do. Gotta see the movie, "Against All Odds" and it gets even better!
Phil is great in concert - fantastic love and quite funny. When I saw him, his son had just started drumming for him on the tour.
Love Phil
Ive been a fan of Phils since the 70s Genesis, when I got to see him live in the 90s, after having heard this song countess times, his heartfelt rendition still brought me to tears. He was soooo good.
His book Not Dead Yet is a fantastic look at Phil Collins life. I read it and listened to the audio version, which he narrates himself, so good.
Great song and reaction! ALL of his songs are great!! He's one of a kind!!
I'd love to see you ck out AMERICA!!!! "A horse with no name or Ventura Highway"!! You'll LOVE IT!!!!❤
Anything Phil Collins is great
What still shocks me is that his daughter is a very successful actress and most people do not connect them.
She’s great!! Bono’s daughter is, too! She was in a Netflix movie(or series)can’t remember 🫣 Love City of Bones!
I know! She's wonderful!
Yes, he should be on the drums. He Is ONE OF RHE BEST
Stepped out from being a drummer fir Genesis when Peter Gabriel was singer and front man ,then Phil Collins took lead when Gabriel left...
One of my most favorite songs ever! ❤
I was so fortunate to be in high school during this period with Great Artist like Phil Collins. So many awesome songs....
Saw Phil Collins, Elton John and Eric Clapton in the early 90. It was a awesome concert! La
This song and It's Just Another Day In Paradise are my favorites by him
More Phil please❤
This song is my favorite of his but, he cannot make a bad song.
The man can sing, play the drums and certainly write amazing songs..
Take me Home live in Paris...
You wont regret it, it's got everything that is Phil Collins IMO
hes so good
Phil Collins POP

GENESIS ..PROGRESSIVE ROCK
70S
EARLY 80S
He's was a true unicorn in the music industry very versatile with the type of song he could perform in his 50 years of being active 😊
One of my favorite songs of all time
one of my favorite songs!
Great tune! It was on a soundtrack from an 80's movie of the same name I think! People lying on a beach comes to mind! 😅
Phil Collins was the second lead singer of Genesis, but most people forget about the Peter Gabriel era. I would highly recommend Collin's Genesis song "No Son of Mine." "Supper's Ready" is listed as the best song of the Gabriel era.
Yeah, brother, he is one of the greats!
This song is from the Movie, Against all Odds. Fire movie, fire song!❤
Thank you for your reactions on some of the most beautiful songs that there have ever been. Greetings from Germany ❤
