Alena is simply amazing in this piece, which is not an easy one to play. The way she uses nearly 💯 of the bow is even more impressive. That’s not easy to do either. Her finger work is also second to none. The way she goes from one end of the fret to the other almost effortlessly, is truly rare My mother was a talented violinist and English professor. Her deep love of both classical music, especially Romantic, and the Bard, would work together. For her senior thesis classes she’d always ask students to do an analysis of the way that Tchaikovsky caught Shakespeare
There's a moment at the end at 34:56 where she's playing the repeated D's and she looks at the conductor and smiles. She knows at that moment that she's nailed the performance.
I watched for that! A charming moment, indeed. I almost had an inkling that the conductor and the soloist.... the way he looked at her during the cadenzas...ummm... something about ships that pass in the night. Just my overheated imagination, I'm sure.

Two of Tchaikovsky's supreme masterpieces; the lovely violin concerto, where Alena captures the humour of the cadenza brilliantly, and the heavenly Romeo and Juliet.

Absolutely love the slower pace taken in the Romeo and Juiliet Overture, especially during the main melody. Really allows everything to have time to really sing out. Beautiful performance
Two of Tchaikovsky's supreme masterpieces; the lovely violin concerto, where Alena captures the humour of the cadenza brilliantly, and the heavenly Romeo and Juliet. Bravo to the soloist, the conductor, and this wonderful orchestra. This is a whole hour of lockdown which made me feel optimistic again. Thank you so much for uploading.
This is amazing joint orchestra & Soloist. The best of Tchaikovsky Violin concerto op.35 by Violinist Alena Baeve.Which She play in D,and very well expressing Drama,so few short moment of Alegria.Viva.
I enjoyed this very much. The music is sublime. Alena Baeve is phenomenal. The orchestra is excellent. My favorite part, however is Alexandre Bloch. I have never seen anyone enjoy their work as much as he does.
Then you should watch John Elliot Gardenir conducting Dixit Dominus by Handel
