- Sonic 2 vs Super Mario World are often considered two of the best games of the 16 bit era. Sonic and Mario are the heroes for Sega and Nintendo. Sega and Nintendo, or Sonic and Mario were the heads of the console war. This episode, I will complete a retrospective vs battle where I will pit Sonic against Super Mario World over various categories and see which is the best game.

I absolutely love super mario world, i played it a lot on my snes classic, sonic i played when i was a kid on my uncle's sega and now as an adult i have beaten sonic mania but never played much of the originals other than the first few zones of sonic 1.
I have to say i prefer the slower and more focused nature of mario as it is more consistent and uninterrupted plataforming, sonic was fun but you are often going too fast to know what's going on and when you suddenly slow down it feels wrong, overall sonic despite being enjoyable just feels like mario plataforming but with constant pauses for sonic to go full speed through the level for a few seconds and then back to plataforming, mario on the other hand just focuses on the good stuff without stop.
I do think Mario gets the balance right here
