Final Fantasy Legend 2 - A Love it or Hate it Retrospective
Final Fantasy Legend 2 - A Love it or Hate it Retrospective. Originally released as Saga 2 in Japan. I never played Final Fantasy Legend 2 growing up. I played it and finished it, and now it is time to give my thoughts of whether I love it or hate it.
I would love to hear your thoughts and memories from playing this when it came out.

All games series have to start somewhere, Tekken is no exception. Tekken has been going around for over 20 years but it started here with Tekken for the arcades and PlayStation 1. Does it hold up....er? This week I am joined by Raging Demon who like me has a lot of memories with the iron fist. Retro Wars is now on TH-cam doing Retrospectives on a bunch of games. Mario is back on an adventure to get the...six golden coins...because they matter in Mario lore. Super Mario Land 2 is the second Mario game on the Game Boy and is probably the best of the bunch. Sonic X Shadow Generations review - The year of Shadow the Hedgehog
มุมมอง 12921 วันที่ผ่านมา
Sonic X Shadow Generations is out today, and puts Shadow the Hedgehog front and centre in his own adventure. The game also comes included with a remaster of Sonic Generations for current hardware. The question is, can Shadow stand on his own considering his last main adventure he did so heavily armed and on a bike? This is my review of Sonic X Shadow Generations.

The Legend of Zelda - Link's awakening Retrospective
Very nice thanks. I got into the series recently (am 31) and I plan to play through all the generations. So... No I dont hold down b when I am trying to catch something 😂
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Star Fox !
Gyarados was fine in Gen 1. It was in Gen 2 he got nerfed.
Yes, I am finding out my original assessment was incorrect
Joke's on me. I was a basic kid and picked Squirtle.
No, he was a god
Why all the hate? most players doesn't understand the intricacy, the beauty & madness of the Junction System.
I think its a combo of hording your spells. Too much micro management. Using draw a million times and the level scaling. I hated the early game fighting against time limits while the clock ticked down inside the menu screen and I forgot to junction thunder to attack against the big spider. On its own junction isn't bad but lots of other decisions they made added up. If they had another 6 months in development they might have balanced things better.
Yeh I don't mind it now, I just think it was a lot for new players
I found this game difficult to play lol didn’t like the junction system. Someday I will finish it 😢
Yeah i get it I hated ff2 played them all love the rest tho, the zodiac age remaster is probably my favourite
You will battle through my friend
I loved 7, but 8 is the only ff game that i love to replay over and over again. It's like watching a movie!
A movie where things just got off the rails
13:20 LMAO completionist jab, love it
Did I do that :P
Good video bud
Thanks you very much :D
Watched your FF8 video, loved it, ended up here, sure I'm gonna love it so I'm saying in advance. This channel is good it should pop off you have a great voice and good sense of humour you should do well. What you need is one big video that's in the mix of something popular right now, anything current and trending, there's been a few great games released recently, and a few great remasters coming up like legacy of kain soul reaver 1&2 remasters. A video on that round the time it's about the drop would do well I'm sure, there's not enough Kain content tbh, that's just an idea though if you've played them, also the silent Hill 2 remake, you could compare the newer to the older games if you played them, if not both games are fairly short you could compete them all for an essay video.. Just a couple of ideas metal gear delta also just dropped there's so many, I just wanna see more videos, in this format, in a comparison format, any way it comes keep it coming man great work 👌
Thank you for the kind words. I try and regularly do games that have been covered for the podcast. But I agree, doing some more relevant ones such as Kain and Silent Hill 2. I have played neither so going back to the original can be pretty fun. I am working hard behind the scenes to bank a lot of podcast episodes so I can focus more on the TH-cam.
Great video. You are very entertaining. Watching this whilst doing a replay of FFVIII. Bravo! Subscribed :)
@@thedavestation2185 glad you liked it. New podcasts every week. TH-cam usually once a month
The Final Fantasy Tactics series had always been a strange series. But for Tactics Advanced... For me it was more awkward as I understood it was supposed to be a story of growth and helping them learn to accept reality with their partners and address their issues so that they could leave the world in a more healthy way or life. And slow decay due to the 'prince' refusing to accept this and diving deeper into the illusion was making everything worse. For me... It was always the awkward bit of your character wanting to return to reality and willing to DESTROY AN ENTIRE WORLD to get back home as I saw those other people as people. Probably why in the Tactics Advanced 2 story they revealed that everything turned out alright and your old buddy from the first game is still alive and still exists. Though A2 did suffer story wise. The original suffered from content people forgot to read.
Probably why Link's Awakening resonated with me as waking the Wind Fish was a joyful moment and A sorrowful one as the island vanished erasing everyone you knew and even the manga addressed it as Link was hesitant when he realized the truth, but knew he had to do it as the nightmare was growing too strong.
@@qwefg3 good outlook there. I love both tactics advance and awakening so much
1:54 more accurately Sega AM2
It's just a ps3 port 😂 with 5 dollar shadow dlc 😂😂
Take that back, I will wash your mouth out with soap and not rinse it out
Honestly i may get my steam copy refunded. The shadow side of the game works with my xbox controller but the sonic side is all screwed up
That sucks :( I wonder why it was doing that. I was playing it on PS5
@RetroWarsuk i think part of the problem (on pc at least) is that the shadow side is brand new and is part of the main launcher and when you click on sonic's portion it loads another exe(probably the orginal game just with the modded cutscenes. Basically a fancy rom hack tbh). Now, the shadow portion works as intended, but the sonic side (with steam input disabled) reads my controller with totally wrong inputs. X is a, a is b, left trigger is start, ect. With steam input enabled (which works with shadow's side), it doesn't read any inputs at all. It will only register my keyboard when I hit a key. It's a bit frustrating that I can't just play out of the box like I can with most modern pc games.
Not to be a stickler, but Zelda was the player character for Zelda’s Adventure and Zelda:The Wand of Gamelon for the CDI, tbh the games suck but I want them to be canon for the lols. Also the wand of gamelon is a powerful magical artifact,as well as the book of Koridai. The book can one shot seal ganon, and the wand has the power to control the book,as well as just being magic.
@@ThatLegoGuy-10140 so tempted to go... excuse me princess
Ff8 kicks ass
41:17 Selphie does mention something about that in that scene iirc where she did have a GF for a bit which explains why she lost her childhood memories (Like I think she had it pre-Trabia Garden iirc)
Hopefully the remakes will prevent them from falling off the cliff.
I think how I personally would fix the junction system is, you can junction magic to your stats like now, but the big difference is that it doesn't scale with how many spells you have. It has 2 modes, on and off. If you junction magic to a stat, as long as you have one of that spell you get the full bonus. It would NOT be as strong as having 100 of that spell is now. Probably closer to the 50 range. If, however, you use the last spell of the magic you junctioned to a stat, instead of removing it completely, it just loses the bonus until you get another one. This way, as long as you don't use your last spell, you will always have the full bonus and you don't have to be afraid of losing your stats. The exception being elemental and status junctions. I think it makes sense that the more fire you have junctioned to your elemental defense, the more you resist magic, and likewise with status.
I bought blue at Toys r us back in 1999 with some Toys r us bucks my mom gave me for my birthday and I chose Charmander because what kid doesn’t wanna own a dragon😂😂
The enemies leveling up with you was mentioned in promotional articles in gaming magazines leading up to release.
this came with our very first console, the master system! My memories of it was it being too hard for me, and when i was 8 i got obsessed with it and managed to get all the way to the invisible castle (with serious help from my older brother when he was generous) till the fateful evening my dad wanted to watch the news and turned the console off in his impatience to switch it over. i was devastated. the music sends me back to sitting in the lounge on the carpet way too close to the tv. the dying music, id forgotten but it got me right in the anxiety pit lol. great video, will be looking out for more!
@@rebeccagibbs4128 plenty more abusive videos in the bank. The podcast episode is far more abusive of this episode. If my dad did that to me and it was sonic, I would have no father
I loved playing this game on the original Gameboy! Thanks for bringing back the wonderful memories.
Im glad you enjoyed it. There is also a podcast episode as well. Think it was episode 25 back in the day
Jason Kidd. Hes a Hall of Fame NBA point guard. As far as I know he doesnt have any kids nameds Alex

I had never heard of this game but my wife had it and a master system when she was little. She loves this game and is pretty good at it. I think it’s cool but everything you’re saying is true.
@@kennymetz187 tell your wife me and her need to have a chat
i think literally the only reason all of these 90s & 2000s FMVs look so good because they’re the lighting is extremely blown out & gritty… to this day this gritty realism has never been captured on typical cutting-edge PS5 in-game-rendered imagery… everything looks dark & manikin like

@@joerodrigo2070 Hey I'm a Sega kid growing up. The SNES was poison to me

the junction/stock system. you know damn well why people would hate this game. stupid title.
Or.......or.........maybe the plot.....
If you buy the steam version, you can mod the graphics to be kinda insane. The level of modding for ff7 ff8 and ff9 is to the point it's literally not even comparable to the release.
I have seen the modding for FF7 remake and it always make me chuckle
N is another S tier rival but i agree
Yeh actually N is good, he isn't S tier but good. Come on Blue is S tier!!
@RetroWarsuk Blue, Red and N are all S for me. Blue is my favorite by a lot though. The rest are all kinda trash

Synth your magic. Goes pretty fast and takes the grind right out of drawing.
I used to hate the drawing process again and again
@@RetroWarsuk That's the beauty of the sythn skills! you learn them early on and mass produce spells from items won in battle. I only ever have Draw equipped to one party member at a time and then move spells around as needed if they're drawn. I'm tellin' ya, the game is soooo fun when you start playin like that.
it was my first final fantasy i ever played, because i didn`t liked back then the lego characters in game in ff7. and for me it is still the best final fantasy, yeah you need time too get into it but if you get into it everything makes sence and works together really really good. i never ever played the original final fantasy 7, i have it now, but i can`t get over the bad character design in it, it takes me out of the imersion everytime i try too play it. i can play everyother ff game but ff7 never ever will be my favorite final fantasy game. the remake is very good but too this day i never finished it, i want too in the future of course. FF8 will allways be my favorite final fantasy game close behind is final fantasy 10 and 10-2, then final fantasy 16 is my third most liked ff game.
Your first final fantasy is always your favourite I think
@@RetroWarsuk it is
Let's be honest... MvC2 has always been around. Especially if you're a fan. I've always had a copy of it. I still have my dreamcast version even though my dreamcast doesn't work, I think it just needs a new disc drive. But I also have an original Xbox copy and of course the 360 one and still have my 360 connected and have played it here and there. I was way more excited for Punisher, Xmen COTA, and Xmen vs SF... A little for marvel vs SF, because we never really had perfect ports of those games on consoles... I had the Playstation 1 versions back in the day that didn't have the tag team feature and Punisher I only played on Mame way back when I played on PC. I think I had the Genesis version, but back then I wasn't into beat em ups like I am now, so I think I traded it/sold it after beating it a few times or so.... Trust me, looking back now, I wish I never traded or sold my games, sport cards, and comics... So I was way more thrilled for these games over MvC2, MvC1, and MSH. I already have those on 360 and to be honest, the 360 port of MvC2 is better, way better than this version that's off the arcade... I don't know why they didn't also include that port... They could have added it as an additional version with the Japan and US versions. I would much rather play that over the version they included... Punisher was the first game I played as soon as I got this and then just been playing the other 3... I haven't even loaded MvC2 yet lol... As for the next collection, I'm mainly looking forward to the CvS 1 and 2 games, I still have those two on dreamcast as well, but since my dreamcast hasn't worked in years upon years, it'll be great to play those again... Plus, MvC2 isn't all that fun when playing online and you just keep running into the same teams over and over. That's how it's been on the 360 and PS3 version that still works. But I guess you can say that for all games. People are just going to use the top characters or teams most of the time... Let's just hope that doesn't discourage new players....
Subjective of course but I still love it and consider if the last true gem of Final Fantasy. I enjoyed FFXII more as adult now than a teen but felt a bit more bogged down with plot and the characters and music weren't as memorable in my opinion. However I loved FFVII as much as anyone but VIII and IX along with X are absolutely some of my favorite games hands down even 25+ years later.
I am looking forward to playing 12 again, although god knows when that will be
The Punisher game was the first Marvel game made by Capcom, without it there would be no Marvel vs Capcom.
Yeh this kinda makes sense
I commonly like to joke that FF8 is a fangame and that Squall should be the one saying "This is my story" instead of Tidus Honestly, I found the story of FF8 really underwhelming, I feel like there was meant to be way more but they probably ran out of time
Which is mental when you have 4 discs to play with. To be fair, I couldn't even try to write my own video
Emulation is easy enough You could probably run the Dreamcast version on a toaster nowadays
Oh of course it is....I just can't encourage it...the lizards may be watching
Glad this popped up in my feed. Solid video my guy. Subbed.
Glad you liked it. More to come
Apologies, I wrote the message below before finishing the video. My bad!😂 Why the punisher you ask? Well without it, we wouldn't have our Capcom and Marvel alliance! For you see, marvel would license out their property to other gaming companies, many which have failed or cheap cash grabs. However, with Punisher being experimental title, Capcom was able to show their bravado prove to Marvel that they're in capable hands! Since then, Marvel & Capcom released hit after hit; whether it were on consoles or arcades- a beautiful alliance was forged!!!
Ha ha ha Im impressed you edited it afterwards. I would have stayed quiet and ran away
@@RetroWarsuk nah, gotta take licks n kicks like a Marvel Man then be ready to fight like a Capcom Fan!!!! 😆💪❤️ Great video, my bad on the mistake!
