- We have a small mobile splitting job to do. Since it's less that 2 cords I'm not going to pack the conveyor up on the Eastonmade 22-28. I sure will miss that pullback arm! The Wolfredge pro 28C is going on this road trip.
Thanks for taking us along and giving us an insight to mobike splitting!! Glad to see you and Jose' are in good health!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David. It’s not something I do a lot of, but there is certainly a market for it.
Nice work Dick and Jose’ Makes a good point that all splitters have their place and each person’s situation is different👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Todd. That's true, and for easy fast production you can't beat the Eastonmade 22-28 with the box wedge and attached conveyor!
Good morning Dick good video. I like the idea of towing the splitter around to peoples homes and processing their firewood for them right there on site.
Thanks John. I don't do a lot of mobile splitting, but there is definitely a market.
Great Teamwork 👏🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks Larry. Our commercial splitters require 2 people to realize their tru production capabilities.
hi again just watching a few of your shows john
Thanks John. I really appreciate your support. Where’s the saw blade from Bunyan this year? I need to look for my name again ha!
I'm 72 and live in South Florida. I love your channel and your videos. I want to copy you when I get old...LOL! Seriously, I love what you're doing!
Thanks so much! I hope you're subscribed and watching some of my older videos!
Good job you and José stay well,
Thanks Digger. Hope you are doing well.
Looked like a good morning👍
It was brisk, but it felt great to be outside working/
You got one heck of a good worker with you Dick! Great job guys👍💪👍
He’s a good guy, great worker, and he’s become a good friend. He and his family are great people.
Nice work! I could see myself doing some mobile splitting for people. Have to retire first. Keep moving!
Thanks Larry. I think you have your hands full! Of course with the Nursery business slowing down in the winter you could probably find time!
I just had a customer that I delivered to want me to come process some tree service cut logs in his yard. I told him with two guys it would be $150 per hour with a 2 hour minimum
Hi Joe. I charge $100/hr with two men. I also have a 2 hour minimum. I’ve mentioned in other comments that is probably a bit low. On the other hand, that job took us 2.5 hours, and after labor cost and overhead it was still profitable.
The Wolfe ridge needed some exercise. Good job for everybody.
Hey Dana. Thanks for watching!
Hello OGF, Using the Wolf took some effort, but I bet the last p[iece you split would have been a real challange for the EastonMade, great work from a couple of well seasoned Pro's.
Hi Ben. That last piece would have been a challenge for the box wedge.
That went pretty smoothly was nice rounds stay safe my friend and Jose to
Thanks John!
What a beautiful way to spend the morning. Awesome firewood, killer splitter, and a beautiful property. Not much more a man can ask for.
We think alike!
Nice job, gentlemen. 😉👍
Thanks Daniel. I know you have done some mobile splitting too. Do you find it profitable?
@oldguyfirewood : Yes, I do. I don't make as much as I would if I sold firewood, but when I am done, I have cash in hand now..
Hey there folks! Nice work that day! Definitely a good bit of work and wood processed! Thanks for taking us along! Take care! Andrew from NB :)
As always, thanks so much for watching and commenting Andrew!
Good job guys!
Thank you!
Those huge round would have definitely been sweet thru the box , but I get it, hauling the smaller one and using it too. Nice job guys 🍻🍻✌️
Thanks Jack. Like I said in the video, if it was a larger job I'd take the Eastonmade. For a small job like this it just made sense to go with the Wolfe Ridge.
Hey Dick. Good to see ya José. Nice job boys, you guys killed those big rounds. Sounds like you're a little sick. If so, I hope you shake it off real soon. See ya on the next one fellas.
Kenny
Hi Kenny. Sick of cold weather haha! Hope you are doing well my friend.
Hello Dick-nice piles there,Jose can run splitter good....happy new years
Happy New Year Bob. Jose is a blessing for sure.
I’d love to do some mobile splitting. My little Wallenstein has a Highway kit with lights etc but the tires and axle don’t make a haul feasible, would have to put it on a trailer for longer distances.
Thanks for watching. There is a market for sure.
I just watched an Easton made vid on the 60c my lord what a unit
That’s the ultimate firewood machine for sure.
Good teamwork and Jose is a very good helper with, like you said, a keen eye. God Bless.
Thanks Tom. I'm lucky to have Jose helping me. In the winter when my lawn maintenance business is slow, I have the luxury of having him available for a few hours.
I like watching you use that splitter more than the other one. I ended up getting one just like yours except gunmetal gray and I put your sticker on it and a magnetic drink holder. After waiting for 10 months on the allwood. I couldn’t wait any longer. Chris Wolf told me I could have it by Christmas and made good with his word.
Hey Jeff. The Wolfe Ridge is a great machine. The Eastonmade 22-28 with box wedge and attached conveyor takes my production to a different level. With the 22-28 I can really pump the wood out with minimum physical effort.
Excellent job Dick and Jose. At some point I need to get some pricing set to do some mobile splitting with my pro28c. Thanks for taking us along for some great ideas!
Thanks Obie. I'm charging by the hour, travel time included. I'm at $100/hour with machine and 2 men. This may be a bit low, but the job in this video was 2.5 hours, so it was still profitable.
Thanks Dick!@@oldguyfirewood
I see ya broke out the wolf ridge out seemed to do fine Chris does have box wedges for his splitters make me jealous having both them ( wolf ridge and eastonmade splitters) I’m not no spring chicken myself I need to invest in one
Hi Joe. Wolfe Ridge doesn’t offer a box wedge for the 28C. The Eastonmade 22-28 adjustable height box wedge is a perfect fit for the wood i deal with. I can tell you, the box wedge and pullback arm allow me to produce wood like I could 50 years ago!
Nice work boys! Glad to see Jose in good health! Knocking the dust off the WR! Nice! I wonder what you charged for that job??
Hey Mike. I charge $100/hour, 2 men and machine, and include my travel time in the equation. It may be a bit low, but it's still profitable. This job was 2.5 hours.
Can always up grade the wolfridge with the their boxwedge and arm. Play your cards right you might be able to get them to upgrade it or even get their new vertical
Hey Jimmie. The 28C isn't available with a box wedge. My Eastonmade 22-28 with box wedge and conveyor I my go to for easy, high output production.
@@oldguyfirewood my thoughts was for quick on the road stuff like in this video.
I could of swore I seen someone on TH-cam with a 28c that had a box wedge and return arm.
Nice job guys. You and back 40 dug out the wolf ridge today. I think I probably order that splitter in 35 ton model. Wish they had the wedge design Eastonmade does. One good thing there lot easier to change being that there lighter. Keep up the good work.
Funny Dan... I was thinking the same thing when I saw Dan's video. Wolfe Ridge 35C is a good choices but check all your options. Take a look at the Eastonmade 12-22. You can't go wrong with either one.
@@oldguyfirewood I think I need more power then the 12-22. The 22-27 out my budget. I got box store splitter now. Anything be better. My back needs a log lift. I work full time just do wood as a hobby. With my dad being gone maybe I sell the wood I always got in for him. Normally do 4 or so for myself and 8 for him. So I like to see him if I can double that.
Morning
Good morning Chris... thanks for watching!
You a "Have splitter, will travel"
Thant's funny James. I almost used that text on my thumbnail. You have to be pretty old to understand the "have gun will travel" connection!
Did you charge by the hour? We get a lot of carpenter ants in the oak around here, too.
I charge $100/hour and add travel time in that equation. It might be a bit low, but it's still profitable.
Hey Dick and Jose, so do you think you split 2 full cords. Curious how do you charge for custom splitting. Thanks for the video.see you on the next one.
Hi Alan. I’m thinking it was about 1.5 cord. I charge $100/hour from including travel time. Thanks for watching!
Red Oak sir ???????????
Thanks for watching Anthony. We have predominantly red oak around me and i sometimes automatically classify oak as “red oak”. In fact, this was white oak. My mistake.
Hey Mr Dick , y’all done a fine job on the mobile splitting job . 👍🏻🪵
Thanks Del! How's the knee rehab doing?
Morning Mr Dick , it’s doing good . I have a small amount of fluid on it but I go back to the DR on the 24 of this month and he said he will draw it off . Thank you for asking !! 👍🏻
