My father used to bundle firewood, he ended up wrapping it twice with paper, and a bunch with twine, he priced it the same even though it made like 30¢ less than the plastic because he knew the plastic would get burnt at campgrounds and the paper and twine was a good fire starter!

Awesome machine...clever and efficient. It would really be nice if there were a device that could split the wood and wrap it in the same process. Kinda like a copier that collates.

Are you serious? People have to make money. You have to realize these people harvest the wood, then cut it to size and split it. Then they buy a machine to package it and then after packaging it they deliver it. How much do you think all that effort is worth? I'm sick of people who sit behind a computer all day discounting hardworking people and telling them their hardwork is not worth anything! Do you know that an 8' 2x4 in my area sells for 10$ a piece right now?

Or just don't spend thousands on a machine that doesn't do much... 250 at hardware store, easy construction, it would be faster and more effective, and efficient... This is total waste of money... But thanks for the idea for a cheaper better product
This a nice idea IF your wood is already dried and seasoned. If not you will end up wrapping up the moisture in the wood and locking a large portion of it in the wood and it won't burn as good.
How long does it take you to bundle 9 or 10 logs? How about for 100 bundles? How about for 500? I guess it would also be stupid to deliver it to a store using a palette and a truck versus walking it there. Trucks are expensive.
@@shawnhuolihan2481 Although I don't wrap quite so many nowadays, I've also wrapped an awful lot in the past. I would note, however, that wrapping a pallet is a lot easier than loose bundles. We actually 'inherited' a pair of pallet wrapping machines from another site in the company. After getting them installed and training the workers it was found that they were not only slower than manual wrapping (even discounting the time to move the pallets to and from the machines) but didn't do as good a job as they didn't wrap over the top of the product. Once enough time had passed that it could be done without too much embarrassment to management, the machines were removed, freeing up valuable floor space in the warehouse!

That would also make it more mobile, not being chained to an electrical supply; safer as the use of electrical machinery in the outdoors always carries the risk from damp and cheaper...

It's literally just a motor with an arm it don't get more simple than that brother. Besides idk if you've ever had to wrap anything but those clear wrap bundles ain't the lightest thing to maneuver not fun. Most I've wrapped are palettes of boxes, couldn't imagine how annoying wrapping loose blocks of wood would be if it wasn't held by something else at the minimum
Sun Bear is right. Anything but easy without that machine. If you do it by hand it’s very heavy, and won’t be nearly tight enough to hold the firewood and keep it tight.

Real nice bundles Mrs Morgan. Out here in SW WASHINGTON convenience gas station stores are selling 2 for $12 or 1 for $6.50. That's probably about a 6 to $800 dollar cord 😥
if you want to mitigate the horrid sound, I used to work in a factory and we had a palletizer that we mounted some broom heads that brush against the stretched plastic to dampen the sound. ours rotated the pallet and had a static roll, but its the same concept.

It's obvious you haven't tried to do the final step by hand. It's not easy to maintain the tension all the way around. That tool makes perfect sense.
