The Vita Sweater from Le Knit is a bottom up lace sweater that I'm currently trying to make! We can make it together (because it's going to take me 100 years to finish) :)
Hey Karen!! Oh my that sweater is STUNNING, and I can see why you said it may take you 100 years :P I don't know if I can commit to a bottom up lace sweater right now but I'm def sending you all the positive vibes!!
Hey MaryAnn, I love how your goals incorporate the whole knitting process, from body to mind to financial health (stretch, creativity, challenges and yarn pantry). As someone not naturally comfortable with excel sheets, I would be super grateful for a short video showing how you document your yarn inventory. Have a great February!
With the Size Inclusivity part, it should be that a pattern is designed to fit up to 60” minimum, after accounting for ease. So if final measurements are 70” including 10” of ease, someone who has a 60” bust can make it and it is inclusive. If final measurements are 68” with 8-10” ease, it’s not “technically” inclusive as someone with 60” bust could not achieve the max recommended ease without adjustments. I tend to be a little lenient with patterns that come within 1-2”, but I also think that if designers can grade to 59”, it’s not much harder to grade to 60”. While I’m plus size, I fall towards the middle of the size range, so in an effort to be an ally and push for more inclusive sizing overall, I am also making an effort to choose patterns that meet the 60” guideline. I’m not perfect at it but we can all try our best. 🩵
Thanks Nayla!! This is super helpful and I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it a bit more and provide some perspective!! ❤️ I’ll def take this into consideration moving forward when looking at patterns and which designers to support! The best we can do is our best :) And hopefully if enough people do that we can encourage a more inclusive knitting community!!
I also want to start designing! I've had this idea for a top for about a year now and I really want to make it a reality! I'm just overwhelmed with where to even begin!?
Hopefully 2024 is the year that idea becomes a reality! I totally get you about not knowing where to start and getting overwhelmed. I would suspect a swatch would be a good place? Get a feel for the direction/yarn/fabric that you want to go? let me know how it goes if you do decide to start!!
Stretching is so important! Your Marysia Cardigan looks great. 🧶
It really is!! And thank you!
I like the last point 😊😊😊
