In Australia, we had this show called Guerilla Gardening in the 2000s and they would go to public spaces that were just concrete or dirt patches and install fully landscaped gardens sometimes with urban furniture like bike stands. There are still at least three of these that exist and I still love seeing them around Sydney.

This sounds like a future collaboration between various TH-cam-makers. A guerilla making challenge in which they can only use waste / scrap materials. And the end product must benefit or improve the public space.

I do stuff like that but on a smaller scale. I mean fix little things before it needs a full overhaul like that. Fix a loose nut or screw, sand down splinters, spot of glue. Even relaid tiles to prevent folks with strollers from tripping. It's a cool...hobby(?)

Stolen wood from the rainforest make really good pallets because they're strong and weather resistant. It's incredibly evil that we (USA, Europe, "the west") see the rest of the world as a disposable resource.
I hope you can find some wood you like from an ethical source.

Appearantly it is sometimes used for metal scrap pallets for it's strenght. I mostly know of it for it's use for flooring and decking here in the states. It's fairly cheap here

Its always ethical to upcycle trash. Since your neither financing where or how it was sourced nor contributing to worsening the environment, indeed you are in fact reducing wear on the environment by supplementing a need with something that had already been removed from use.

Thank you for making your surroundings more beautiful!!!
I used to get those same pallets from a Kubota tractor dealer. It had a lot of nails holes and the wood had a really high moisture content. I seasoned it outdoors covered for a year and in the shop for 6 months. That was a lot of free usable lumber and too much for me so I rough dimensioned it and gave a bunch away to friends.
And to anyone wanting to try this, the pieces will be short and often have a lot of tension from quick drying and changes in humidity. Take care when using the table saw and kickback. Some of the thicker pieces warped when ripping.
