Would u be able to help me identify some wood that I have in my barn? It's a little over 100 years old. It was leftover from my house that my great grandfather used to build the house I live in now. I believe it was used for the floor joist. 2×8/12' 2×10/12' They are reddish brown in color. I wish youtube would let us post pictures in the comments.
I picked my mom up from work yesterday and she told me she wanted me to make something cheap yet beautiful out of fence pickets. I said I follow a guy on TH-cam that has a bunch of crafts from fence pickets.. Matthew Peech. She pulls up the video and it is your planter boxes lol. Now I have to make those, the snowflakes, all of it!
Hola! 🖐You or TH-cam must have been listening to my conversation with my soon to be Daughter-In-Law who just asked if I can make a few for her, their wedding is this year! This video did not disappoint, thank you. Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
This is my 20th year as a wedding DJ. I've seen all the trends. One of the most enduring is the rustic decorations. The log slab centerpieces. The old glass pane door, white washed, with the seating chart written or attached to it (one table per pane). The directional signs. Take your ring box but narrower and instead of boring a hole put a band saw blade slit in one end. Then put a rectangle of card stock with the guest's name and table number in the slot. Instant card holder from a 1" branch that's ½" high. Easy. Wooden crates turned sideways on the desert table. I even saw a 2'X3' board with dowels sticking straight out. Then they hung 4-5 donuts on each dowel and put it on the dessert table. Hysterical. So many options. Thanks Matthew.
@2:45, those Mason jars in the holders can be done in colors for the holidays, too. For Halloween, I sprayed my jars and some plain glass candle holders with black chalkboard paint and then rubbed some loose chalk dust into them.
Pvc boards would make great material for RENTAL products that take a beaten. Cuts and Attaches like softwood. Pvc comes w/ wood grain on one side and one flat smooth side.
I don't even have to buy the fence pickets - lol. I have a pile of them I bought at auction for about 5 bucks and they are in decent enough shape to use.....love this series!!
Oh and I wanted to add, I love your focus. Your videos are not all over the place like a lot of different content creators. I appreciate your focus and you're to the point commentary. Thanks for making amazing videos and helping us make profitable items.
Another way to make the colored jars is to put some medium to fine sand blasting media inside of them and shake it up real good to put some texture on the inside of the jar. Clean the jar out. Pour some chalk paint of whatever color you want inside and roll it around until it's coated, pour out the excess. The texture from the sandblasting media will cause the paint to be matte and since it's inside the jar, it makes it more durable and cleaning easier. I used to take cheap glass vases and do this to them and sell them.
Your ideas for marketing are a great resource, but your sense of humor is the best. Thanks for it all. I too have a CNC machine and are always looking for ways to upgrade ideas with it.
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking as soon as the weather is better in Louisiana (lol) I'll be starting my building class for other disabled Veterans back up and your videos will be a big help. You are appreciated, my friend.
Yes, pre-turned finials are cheap & easy to install & add a lot to the finished look. I made about 5 lanterns last year, turned out great, added finials that i had saved from old wooden curtain rods! Never throw stuff out! I’ll make a few more closer to Thanksgiving - they make great holiday center pieces.
My husband and I made those lanterns for our wedding a couple of years ago and they were so pretty. I like your version as well. We also made a version of the wooden center piece boxes that holds the jars for my son and his wife's wedding. I loved all of these ideas.
My mother in law and I are wanting to build stuff for an upcoming wedding and the candles and perfect. We have been updating my wife's office and I have taken some inspiration from your channel even though I am fairly new here. Thanks for your knowledge.
You’ve done it again and again.!!! Life the smallest hopefully in a few weeks I have entries for the Brag Board. Keep it up my brother thanx a million!!!
Love your channel! Funny story, I was planning on opening up my own business this year, before shoulder and back surgery last year, making several items from your channel. One of my concepts was actually renting things for weddings, birthday parties, and holidays too. There have been several ideas that I have come up with then all of a sudden it's on your channel....lol I just need to come up with the capital to open my store front with shop in the back. Keep up the good work and as always love your work.
1/2inch square strips are often the remnants of your other fence picket builds !! The garden basket is an awesome build and very easy, I made one in cedar, and I like it alot.
Speaking of engraving! IF you do a deep engrave on hardwood, you can buy pro-tec fishing jig paint and pack the engraving, and put up a woodburning pen near the paint. That will melt it right into the wood. Sand and boom, absolutely spot on quality painted engraving
I recently came into possession of a custom-built wood Tardis. (From Dr. Who.) I thought, "I could rent this for weddings & geeky photo ops." Now you've got me thinking bigger.
As always.....another good video Matthew. I have a bit of wiring to do in the garage, then I know I have some scrap pieces of pine that I'll turn into some candle holders and add them to our page. Enjoy your day.
I have had alot of success building and selling vase holders. They are easy to build, paint and “stage” for sale. They appeal to brides, but also as hostess gifts, and centerpieces for holidays (Easter, Mother’s Day, etc.)
The paint may be on the inside of the mason jars. I've seen crafts where they either spray paint the inside or just pour in a little and roll the jar to coat the inside and pour the extra back into the can.
Thank you for all the great ideas. I’m just starting out and you have provided a lot of great advice in my opinion to get started and keep going. Thanks you again. Rick

The ones he showed in the pictures looked even simpler than the ones he built. Like just essentially a bunch of "sticks" all suck together probably with just a bit of glue and brad nails. Hi ~ I like your ideas for creating items for weddings. Question regarding renting items.. The business side of this~ How are the items getting to the customer and returned to you, if they're renting them? Transportation or shipping can really drive up the cost of goods so renting for $10 or $30 doesn't seem very profitable. Do you talk about this in some of your other videos?
