Hi Jim the Maple burl is really wonderful it's got nice grain. The Hyper shift in the black is really cool. The planets in the universe vase is magnificent and unique I really love it well done Jim. I like the Christmas ornament made of chopsticks it is magnificent and unique, the person who sent it is really kind. Thank you for a fabulous video Jim I really enjoyed it. Amanda xx
Woah. It's absolutely gorgeous, I'm still trying to pick my jaw up from the floor. I think the Black Pearl plus Hypershift from Designer Epoxy was the perfect pick to go with the maple and the globes. Makes each and every individual piece pop, and I can help but see a sea of stars and crushed velvet at the same time! It's incredibly unique, and I'm happy for whoever bought this piece!
Regarding the pits caused by the air bubbles in the planets... that's actually pretty realistic! Most space bodies have craters on them! Also, space pieces have always been one of my favorite types of pieces, and this one did not disappoint. The hypershift was definitely the right choice for this piece! I also like how you can subtly see some of the smaller planets that didn't quite make it through during the shaping. Good luck on getting the UV resin to work as a top coat.
A wonderful example of no waste working by using globes made with extra resin AND a fantastic finished product that was greater than the sum of it's parts! Thank you for sharing the struggle with the finish as well. I learn SO MUCH!
Jim you haven't got me turning with resin yet... but..I have a few thoughts in my head about your globes..🤔..designer epoxy and me might be mixing up.. And as always you are the master of resin turning..I can't wait to see the lamp.
Oooooooo! The way the planets glow in the black when lit from inside is enchanting. I think that this is one of those pieces that I would light from within in the evening and I would keep it on a rotating stand because it is just that visually interesting. Yes you should do more with this concept.👍
Designer Epoxy. This galaxy bowl is so beautiful. It looks as if there swirling with movement around the planets. I love the hypershift! beautiful art, Thanks For Sharing!
Designer Epoxy! Ty for doing space! I know I asked you to do Underwater, ocean, coral, or space and you've done all!!! I can only imagine how many of us has hounded you with requests or ideas. Sorry about that. Such a cool piece of art!!! Love it!!
One of the coolest pieces you've made! It seems you get more and more creative each week. Maybe in keeping with a space theme, something to commemorate the upcoming eclipse...
I totally agree that the different sizes and colors of the globes makes this piece - totally looks like some galaxy far away! I LOVE this piece! When you originally said black, I thought it would wash it out. Shows what I know, 😂 it SO brought out the colors and made it so vibrant. It almost swirls and moves as you look at it. LOVE!!! Beautiful work, beautiful Designer Epoxy - just beautiful!!! And that hyper-shift - WOW!!! And the lit, rotating video at the end? Come on! Gorgeous!!!!! Too bad that’s not how the new owner (lucky dawg) can display it all the time, it’s AMAZING!!
Love the planets in the Designer Epoxy. With the black and hypershift really makes this piece jump out. You cannot get better if you don't try new things. I love the finish on this.
Oh my gods, Jim! You didn't just knock it outta the park with this piece, you put it into another region! This has got to be my most favorite of what I've seen you make! All the colors in the black and gold waterfalls, it's reminiscent of the old pulp illustrations of space scapes a la Flash Gordon and it is just amazeballs!!! All the little planetoids and the larger gas giants, you've even got some terrestrial style planets, and the burl gives the impression that you're looking out on this vast galaxy from the surface of an asteroid and just holy cow, I cant say enough good things about how phenomenal this hollow form is!!!
I have watched this 3 times!!! VERY cool, Jim!!!! I really hope to see the "planets" again!!! All the colors from Designer Epoxy are so vibrant and i live the way they dance in the light! What a cool idea and beautiful execution! Your talent and artistic intuition always leaves my eyes as big as my smile! Can't wait to see the next video!
I love it when you put that resin in specially when it’s in the circular form. Because you’re right, it looks like a galaxy. And by the way, oh my word the hyper shift you put in today was gorgeous.
Oh, oh, oh my gosh!!! This is beyond cool!! We got Van Gogh and Klimt circles. You just keep giving me a new favorite Jim. I have an idea. Would you consider using the globe cast to make paper weights and or balls for display in a container of some kind. I see a wire basket with colorful hypershift balls in it. It would use leftover product AND be something you could sell for a reasonable amount of money for us poor people out here. I would purchase and be tickled pink to have something that you created!!! I am so looking forward to the lamp next week. Btw, your vids are not too long for me!
Gorgeous! I love the use of the globes in the different colors is amazing! I still think it’s an alien home from far away though. Designer Epoxy Thanks, Dik
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! Truly - I won’t be able to get this out of my head. My husband Dan and I are slightly obsessed with space. We got married in a planetarium and it was Star Wars themed! 😂 We need this! So beautiful.
Yes, I will make a light box with mirrors. I was pretty confident that I gave it plenty of cure time on the bench, but I guess ya never know. Thank you very much!
My first thought on seeing this was “gorgeous door knobs”. I know I would love to have these on all my doors. But I would imagine it would not be worth your time to work on something this small. But they would be beautiful. That globe is wonderful. Thank you.
@@SpragueWoodturning I have several doors in my cheap apartment and the cost for enough door knobs would be more than my rent. But their beauty makes it worth every penny. Thank you.
I love the hyper shift with the black pearl epoxy. Definitely a night sky/milky way effect. Beautiful, Jim. Perhaps fewer planets and a bit more spaced out in my opinion. I would love to see 3+ part series featuring all of your classic forms. And thank you for being the type of creator who listens to his loyal fans and includes us in his decision making. Cheers.
What I like best about this piece is the distinct difference between the types of colors you have used. Jim, The globes give this project such really bright colors and gives it such a beautiful art project effect. I also agree it is so much better to let the project dictate what it wants to be..
This is an amazing piece. The black with the hypershift "stars" in the background really makes the color in the resin ball "planets" pop. A series would be great. Thank you. Designer Epoxy.
"Your never-ending mission...to seek out new finishes and new innovations." Lol! Despite the challenges with your experiment, this piece turned out SO COOL! I think lighting it up worked out far better than you anticipated. It made me think of images from the Hubble telescope. Stunning! I add my vote for a series, this idea deserves further "exploration" for sure!
When you experiment and dabble, you do so in a big way! It's gorgeous! A mini-series is a fantastic idea! A themed turning project sounds fascinating. Designer Epoxy.
That is a really exciting piece. When I saw the thumbnail, I couldn't wait to see how it was made. It is superb. It also reminded me of garland lights in the garden. Thanks for sharing.
I loved watching a galaxy being born and i love this piece! When the spheres ended up above the epoxy after the pressure pot, I was imagining an untouched rim with different bumps.
I whole heartedly think you should do a series...great idea!! This piece got my inner star trek geek dancing!!! It is just fabulous and beautiful. Thanks again for another wonderfully unique piece! Designer Epoxy
First, wow. I was thinking it was a Starwars lovers dream, then you said it, and it made me giggle. Those dark globes look like Dark matter or Black holes, ooo you should do a couple of flat black globes so then the black pearl hypershift flows around it! Second, keep doing what makes you happy, experiment with everything! Can't wait to see what you do next! Third, I wanted to know how you care for your silicone brush. Thank you. Designer Epoxy
