For imperial academy, I like to leave 1 tile on the opposite side of the TC for production buildings and leave increments of 1+3x influence squares open to optimize production buildings. Also buildings that are 4x4 like the blacksmith get placed on the corner square of influence.
i dont know about other poeple, but just hereing you talking about it isnt really enough, i would love to see some games of you playing this

I know you are a China main, but could you do this for other civs as well? At your level even the civs you are “bad” with you probably have great info for non pro players

Would you please make a short video explaining how the imperial official works? At 33:36 you literally say "click and click and click" but when it comes to click x3 in the game sometimes it doesnt work and I don´t know why lol. Sorry for what I ask and thanks for your help!
Aussie, what should I go for unit wise, if I went for palace guards and bees, but the enemy comes with a lot of crossbows and some knights/horsemen? feels super hard to fights against it. obviously I didnt scout too well, but is there a chance to get a comeback? lets say eco is still fine and I got like 500wood laying around
Honestly since the changes I never really enjoy playing china anymore. I always like to play defensively late game and it just seems like the arent very good since they no longer have an answer to the culverine. You have to be super reactive an push agresively with timing, which is really frustrating since that wasn't how the civ played originally.
Is there any advice you can give to help remedy this? I struggle to find a good durable late game unit besides lancers, but chineses lancers basically get no bonuses and palace gaurds just seem like worse meat shields then base MAA, not even considering stronger MAA (Abbasids, HRE, English)
Im pretty sure it is more optimized to put the third garnary on the side (and middle) of the 2 others so more villagers are buffed, it also take a bit less space, and it is easier to find an empty spot of this shape, rather than a big empty line.
Also, could you explain why it is not worth it to put garnaries in the imperial academy range, is it also the case with pagodas ?
The triangle granary formation is marginally better, but fits a bit less than some of the mentioned formations, I think it warranted a mention. As for putting in Academy range, I know some really good players like to do it, I think most of the time there's not enough space, and your farms will clog your IA to the point you will be unable to fit many production buldings. I like IF I'm leaving my IOs there as well to supervise and collect tax (so they have a quick dropoff), but most of the time having at least 8x of each production building on IA is more useful for gold generation late game

Chinese song dynasty weakness is man-at-arms.. any solutions? If you are playing against HRE?
I saw in this update they fixed the placement of farms around mills but I also saw in a early patch that vills would have started farming once a shift queued farm were built, why they removed that function? @aussie
If you right-click the mill after placing all the farms (select 8 vills, hold shift, place mill and 8 farms, release shift, right-click mill), you will get exactly the behaviour you're looking for

I dont know why in your opinion you should go water on ancient sipires. Waste of rez to bulid a dock and fishing boats Just to gather so little Fish. I mean in theory it should be good but once u gather Shore Fish u are left with a dock and boats that serve absolutely no purpuse. U need to invest like 500 Wood peer pond and that delays all ur timing so hard Just to get very little.
Im diamond rank never go docks on this maps and its always better to gather Fish with Vills anyone i play against that Goes water its like auto lose cause i get units much quicker and just burn their docks. What they gonna do bulid towers to protect it? Just a waste of time and rez to invest in such a small amount of fish

china has changed quite a bit now, they dont rush IO, instead rush their imperial academy and get out their imperial official ASAP from that.
