My biggest struggles with team games is the position depending on the map. The closer to the enemy, the faster you get attacked. I went quiet fast into military, but the others were just playing sim city and zero support. This is my experience in random team games.
Not building troops or having mil buildings till almost 30 minutes into the game and blowing up the notification button for help because they're being pushed. 😑
Best way to counter it in my experience is preemptive communication, ask them when they are going for, talk about who goes archers, who goes cav, ping on where to unite armies, where to attack, this will both help with cooperation and also direct players to be more active. Like you can have one player that sim city till full boom imperial and will be useful after minute 30, but that info needs to be shared within the team so others know to play more defensively.
I love this video. Probably one of the best “tips” video for teams. Be self reliant and self sufficient, don’t blame your team, and carry. Well said fella
I think 4v4s should have a higher supply cap or a shared team supply cap of 800. It's very common that I'm in a position where I could carry a game with my economy, production and upgrades but when I can only have a 120 supply army there is only so much I can do and it's easily matched by mediocre combined effort from the opponent team. It's especially frustrating when a team mate leaves early... Why can't I have his supply cap added to mine to at least give me half a chance
I generally agree with most of the messaging from this video, but applies mainly to people who know how to play this game pretty well. I play a lot of 4v4s and rushes work a lot just because you can break peoples mental and they give up, or depending on the map you can win by preventing trade while your teammates trade, or by taking sacred sites (again map dependent). Also people coming to their teammates defense from a rush in platinum and below sometime will just not happen because people naked boom hard.
I think the advice about not going all-in is missing one very important factor. People who play online games are all babies, and most of them will quit if they get shut down early. "gg team no help" and then you're stuck in a 3v4. I can't tell you how many winning games I've lost because of a teammate getting raided once and quitting. I play Mongols so I've also won games in dark age by killing a few vils or pushing an enemy off gold, leading to them quitting 5 mins into the game. Also funny sidenote, this game has no penalty for leaving, and you even gain ranks if your team wins after you quit. I once ranked up from a game where I quit 1 minute in due to having like 3000 ping, because my team kept playing and won without me. Pretty stupid.
Indeed, problem with all-in players is that after some time they are easily squashed by booming player, and unless you are all all-in then there is danger that enemy will survive and they have at least one booming one.
The golden tip should be communicate with your teammates, and decide if you wish to boom rush or support. Sets the pace your teammates can abide by and MAKE UNITS IN FEUDAL AND MAKE MORE THAN 5 production buildings. I’m in diamond 2, and I get matched with conquerors and then my next game will have unranked and gold. And sometimes I’ll have 2 gold and the opponents are two conquerors. AOE also has to fix their match making system. It’s like if league of legends matches a gold player vs diamond to master players in ranked. It makes 0 sense
TRUE TRUE TRUE THIS MAN IS SAYING THE WORDSSS !! Suppose every game that you are the carry , i was top 10 in COH2 and that’s the mind set i had It help you not get tilted and actually making always the best decision and at high level every one knows how to play the game, the thing is who make the best decision constantly.. and that’s Rts for you You will make mistakes because the opponent will make you do them, that’s fine But try every time to do the best decision you can.. and if you feel stuck .. Watch your replays and be as toxic to you that you would be to your team mate :D
My favorite thing is when I quit after 40 minutes cus we are getting smoked then my teammates bitch and complain calling me a quitter. Then the scoreboard shows they have 3 kills
Used the same philosophy as a booster in Heroes of the Storm but being the carry here feels much harder if you get ganged on by three players and your team does nothing.
I love your point of the fact that you only care about yourself, because it's true -- you really only should AND have to work together as a team if the situation is dire and it threatens the entire team
Speaking from league experience, while it's true, you need to try and carry it's also important to recognize when you aren't in a position to carry by yourself. No point trying to force bad plays when you can assist a strong teamate with a wincon especially if you're behind. (Not sure how much this applies to AoE4)
I feel like every teammate needs to let you know what they’re doing, if they’re booming, rushing, FC, etc. every time I play I usually have thr most army but other teammates just boom and then I get slaughtered because im fighting 1vs2..some times u need team support as much as someone wants/needs to carry the whole game
I see a lot of higher level players choosing unique colors in team games. I can do this in 2v2 fine and 3v3 semi ok but with 4v4 I find it really hard to keep track of who is who when the action gets intesnse. Is there a big benefit to keeping unique colors or is team based just fine?
Colors are really helpful for coordinating attacks. If you're about to do a full scale attack on someone it's worth typing in chat "attacking blue/green/teal... etc" so your teammates can support the attack if they want since it's really easy to miss the mini-map attack button thing. Maybe there's a setting that will only assigns colors to the enemy but I don't think so. They should definitely make the colors toggleable mid match.
not building gates for your allies is imho a big nono. without gates you are blocking you are pontentially blocking your allies. and thats basically the opposite of carrying. and its really bad for morale. (which is really important. soso many players in gold league leave a game, once their think to be defeated, even though its still 3,1 vs 4. and i have won 1v3 games on gold 3. so there is always a chance your opponents might derp out :D
What do you mean by that? You have the second best civ to do early walling. You also get hardened spears for no upgrade cost. You can age up to castle and get a free tc. English is a great early wall civ.
@@theFirstAidKit sure - but as English you want towers and farms = a lot of wood. Using workers for stone early will hurt the English harder than most (few/later farms) - and no/few early towers for that 30% attack speed isn’t wise if opponent is close and will attack you while building stone wall.
The key part which 90% of abbysid players miss is "without dying". You going 4tc doesnt do yourself any good if you let the english built a tower and forward infrastructure on your quarter of the map before you can get your walls up. You need some military units always especially in large 4v4 because you cannot expect your temmates to defend themselves AND you until 20+ minutes!
You can create more villagers faster, the faster you get villagers up the more your economy scales. If you have double the resources you have double the army because you can afford double the reinforcements
Using Dota and league is an extremely poor example 😂 everyone thinks they are the carry in Dota and league, but I appreciate the inbetween information you provided 😊
idk , my team games usually go like this : one teamate gets attacked by all of them early on , he gives up , we lose.
Hey, thats me.
I know this guy
Nice gameplay 🙌🏽

Yeah me too. And it's kinda what the video is suggesting pocket players should do.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

there are lots of farmerama players nowadays
1 year later and they still havent fixed the messed up positioning.

Cool starry bra, when you get gangbanged and your nearby allies do nothing...by all means, carry yourself.
Aussie, your a well spoken, intelligent, and an absolutly great teacher 🙏
"You need to be the carry" - basically the golden rule for University group assignments.

well if rushes work at your skill level then obviously rush until doesnt really work anymore

trying to carry in hots is the real test my lord haha
Thanks! I really enjoy team games lately. Much more than 1v1.

I'm so exited to have access to this exclusive content
Does 4 tc min apply to other civs?
Thanks for sharing this video! A whole lot of valuable information here
I only play team. Haven’t got the courage to 1v1
Be the carry. This is the way.
