Man, Sean is totally missing the point of the film. It's not meant to be a more "serious" badass type film, like 'John Wick'. This is a very tongue-in-cheek take on the 'John Wick' formula, from the producers of the 'John Wick' films.

I think the entire premise is overlooked by Buck.
He wants to be a nobody. Not even a "gray man". He doesn't work out at home because he doesn't want his wife or family to assume anything. He chooses to be emasculated to continue another layer of being a nobody. He doesn't want a cache of weapons. He doesn't want to totally destroy the intruders because he knows that would raise too many questions. All this yet he is still confident in his skills that he doesn't need anything when needed.

thought the same thing. he’s at odds with keeping his identity a secret but also trying to suppress that side of him is making him miserable but he knows for his family sake he has to even at his own expense. The home intruder part was him knowing they’re not a threat and he can control it if it gets out of hand and if he did anything it would alert his family to his identity and anyone he’s hiding from (or just risking the life he’s made for himself)

It's not really a rip off of John Wick. It has the same writer from John Wick and the producer, David Leitch, was one of the directors on John Wick. It's more of a sub genre of It's own now. The retired, middle aged former action guy that is forced to use his old skills to kick ass. If you look at what they write and produce, a lot of it has the same elements. Middle aged actor takes on the role of middle aged, retired action guy being forced to bring out the skill set one more time.

The reason he grabs a golf club and not a gun is because it’s supposed to show how in the beginning of the film he’s so disconnected from his past self that he doesn’t want anything to do with guns and is trying extra hard to avoid violence, hence when he yells at his brother in law for playing with the tac 45, then throughout the film he surrenders to the fact that violence is a part of who he is hence the speech to the dead home invaders midway through

@@jeebugorn I believe that with his skillset and experience, Buck would indeed have the ability and the cool nerves to confirm his target before shooting.
But most people have never shot someone, they have never been in a life-or-death situation, and if they THINK they're in a life-or-death situation, their adrenaline will spike. Their hands will shake. Their heart will be pounding in their ears. All kinds of horrible scenarios will run through their heads. They will panic and shoot the first thing they see moving.
That's how guys accidentally shoot their own kid who came home from college a day early for Thanksgiving. That's why gun owners are statistically more likely to shoot a family member than a home intruder.

This movie was really entertaining. But it was woke. The Black Russian mob lieutenant, and Nobody’s own black brother were put in because Hollyweird has quotas of BIPOC in all their films, either in front or behind the camera. So even if they aren’t the best crewmen for the job, they are the most negro/Hispanic/Apache Indian. So these added characters for “diversity” in the film was the worst part. They just raise questions. The Russians had to explain all this shit about the Olympics and African runners and don’t worry about the negro. It was confusing, and raised unnecessary questions. Same with his black brother. What was that? How? Why? Unnecessarily confusing, but forced in due to modern movie making rules.

Nice! I liked Nobody even with all it's faults. I guess it's the Bob Odenkirk, he was a comedic skit actor or comedian on Mr. Show on HBO, never watched breaking bad so I saw him as a comedian doing a semi serious action guy. the action and the soundtrack for me. I wasn't disappointed or extremely amazed, I was satisfied. My only knock was the tri-babk to back shooting at the end of the last gunfight.

My son is very good looking, but not built like me. I was an athletic freak growing up. Could hang at the highest level, I hung out with the Dallas Cowboy players at an exclusive gym when I was an engineer. The company paid for the dues.
My son, is tall and lean and very unassuming, but, BUT he is a college wrestler for a top school, no names, but I out bench him by 200 lbs. I outweigh him by 70 lbs. Not bragging, I been in allot of fights and thank Jesus I never really hurt anyone, but been around.
You look at me compared to him. You pick me 💯 of the time. I have little chance with him.
I say all this because do not judge a book by its cover. Actually, I hate fighting, he loves it, win or lose he loves to mix it up and you would, never, never, never guess because he is pretty.
My youngest son looks like he can mix it up and came home saying his older brother is scary when mad.
So yeah, there are guys out there that look normal that will wear you out.
Oh, my son is chill outside of a mat or ring. Nicest person ever because he wrestles the best everyday and has nothing to prove.
A insecure person is more dangerous than a secure person.

I think the bracelet being the thing that "activates" him does make sense if you look at it as being the last straw. All those things leading up to it he was barely holding back and then when he realizes they stole his daughters bracelets it's kinda like "You know what? Fuck it" it's not that he didn't care about the other stuff, it's that he was barely containing himself after all that and the bracelet was just that one step too far. He doesn't want to be a super badass anymore, he doesn't want his family to know he ever was, but everything in his life is just making it more and more difficult to keep that side of himself hidden. We've all hit our breaking point over stupid little things, it's not just that little thing that has set us off it's just the last straw. Though I doubt anyone reading this had it culminate in a killing spree, probably just yelling at someone. lol

The thing is, like in John Wick, this are not action superheroes like in the 90s with Rambo or Van Dam, they don't need to be super jacked, break everyones back for any reason, or have like a thousand guns in their house, because they don't want that life anymore, specially in this one, he's literally Nobody, your average Joe, so he can pass under the radar the best he can, also the movie is a comedy that is escalating in every act so alot is explained by that

I know this is a year late but uhhh…Abel, did you happen to tell Buck that the producer for this film was David Leitch who MADE JOHN WICK with Chad Stahelski? It’s the same company: 87 North Productions. SAME COMPANY BUCK! Does it suck? Yes, but is it a completely blatant ripoff? Not completely!

I do get some of the criticism but I think Sean really missed the point here a little bit.
It’s a bit ridiculous at times but the overall tone and characterization of the protagonist and his motivations make sense for the most part.
It’s a fun movie at the end of the day, and still less absurd than John Wick, lol.

if he goes John Wick on those amateur criminals, that draws attention to him from the wrong people, which he doesnt want. so he patiently takes it, sees they arent a real threat. yes the bracelet sets him off, later, when he can control the situation and how he wants to approach going after them, he heads out. actually smart.
theres nuance in this movie, its not just wham bam thank you maam unrealistic violence. thinking mans John Wick.

Wasn't until almost a year later that I learned it was illegal, so quickly deleted it. But it had info on everything, even a smoke bomb that could blanket a city block in smoke with.

These guys were totally wrong in comparing this movie to John Wick. It’s not John Wick nor is it even trying to be.
They even tried to compare The Equalizer to John Wick, which also isn’t like John Wick. They are all different types of action movies with different tones and themes. And they are all awesome.
Not everything is a rip-off of John Wick, just like John Wick isn’t a rip-off of the Bourne series. Perhaps try reviewing the movie when you’re not totally wasted on booze. Buck, I love you, man. But sometimes watching you is like watching Barney Gumble review movies.

So the the main character is a cleaner archetype. This has been a thing for awhile. They're essentially an assassin for a government agency, usually CIA/KGB. They become so used to killing people/ families that they retire. They main characteristic of this archetype is that they are broken beings who have extreme morals. When they retire they tend to try to maintain a normal family life but can't. Think if Dexter Morgan worked for the Government. It's been a thing since the first whispers of what happened during the cold war and before. Think 007 but quiet and crazy.

This is EXACTLY the place you want to fight superior numbers IF you don't have them flanking you! The mistake not mentioned was him allowing that guy to get his flank!! That's when you go from right place to a real WRONG place! Spartans held off the Persians so long because of superior training, dedication and this same battle terrain (tunnel/carving trail through a steep mountain on the ocean and it wasn't until they flanked them (not the arrows in the movie) that they lost the battle!! If you can keep the men in front of you and funneled towards you so you are really only facing one maybe two men at a time, it creates better odds! You're still taking your lumps and only walking away if you're incredibly tough, trained or skilled but nonetheless you're taking a lot of damage lol.

I like Bob Odenkirk, but I didn't understand the popularity of this film either.
"John Wick" was about a man who left the life for a woman. But when she died, he was left with nothing. When his dog died, he went absolutely apeshit. He didn't care if he lived or died, because he had nothing left to lose.
"Nobody", on the other hand, was just about a guy going through mid-life crisis. Unlike John Wick, he still has something to lose. He has a family. He's just going through mid-life crisis and acting out.

  • @mikecotto1167
    @mikecotto1167 ปีที่แล้ว

Sorry, but you guys completely missed the point of this whole movie. It’s showing you that the most vicious killers come in all shapes and sizes, especially the ones who work for the government. Second: he’s playing a guy who’s burnt out from his former life that he’s just going through the everyday trials and tribulations. Everything he did in his past life probably messed him up to such a degree that he’s just not wanting to make any waves. However, the moment he sees that his family is threatened, something goes off and for the villains it’s all downhill from there. The tattoo obviously identifies him as an extremely dangerous person. Also, if junkies break into your house and take you by surprise, you can make the slightest twitch and they’ll just shoot you. Knowing several cops who talked about former servicemen who were shot because they initially thought they can easily disarm an intruder simply because of their military background. If you’re six feet from me and I’m high and jittery and you lunge at me, I’m shouting you without hesitation. It’s that simple. You also see he’s not like John Wick because he does take a beating throughout the film.

You show a couple very short clips, but then go off on long tangents about stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the film. A, "react", video is when you react to a movie, or what have you. Here, you two were just reacting to each other. It was one of your worst episodes. With that being said, I really do like your vids. I'm just calling it like I see it. This one went off the rails.

Australia has a different view to home invasion than Texas; in Australia you're only allowed to use 'reasonable force' to a home invader. Guns aren't publicly available so you need to assess the reality of the risk somehow on the spot and then let the courts decide.

As plenty of people have said you guys missed the whole point of his doing things the way he did.
He was trying to live the most saddest life, so that no one would ever think of suspecting him. Which if you watch enough of the movie and there is a deleted scene from his father in law trying to find out who he was. He later says. Looks like my son in law is not who I thought he was. In other words mission successful.
Look at how everyone else got caught. Either spending too much money, going out partying, being too good at fighting. Taking out multiple guys and it attracts attention from the media and others see it and realize that it's the guy.
People in real life were caught for more mundane things. OBL was caught because he lived in a walled off house(including balcony), didn't help with chores, burned his garbage, and didn't go outside his compound.
There are pro trackers out there. It's the out of the ordinary things and changes in life style that get people.
