Re the talk about lights (around the 20 min mark) - the old-school Police method of holding a long, heavy multi-cell light up by your shoulder, with your arm bent and gripping very close to the lens-head. This has two advantages: 1) you can illuminate something without aiming your gun at it e.g. a confirmed innocent while you speak to them. 2) you can immediately flick your arm out and strike with the non-lens end, like a very heavy baton. The disadvantages are: 1) you have no brace/support for your pistol hand. 2) one of your hands is completely occupied and way away from your core - you can't use it for defence, or for simple interactions like operating door handles. Also, tactics schools stopped teaching that you should hold your light away from you for the simple reason that basically, given the average skill level of shooters (trained and untrained) under pressure, any shot aimed at the light source is likely to be within a margin of error that includes the holder i.e. if they could miss the light by a foot in ANY direction, unless you could hold your light two feet away from your head/torso, they might hit you by pure chance anyway. Better to be much more stable and braced, wih control over the light.
Sean nails it in this. He’s a soldier turned cop I was a cop turned soldier after 9/11. After I deployed I had occasion to work with vets at night responding to scenes. Beat officers respond to scenes in “onseys and twosies” from disparate high random azimuths and time frames and some are vets and some are SWAT and some are cops and some have spent $ on private sector training. Few have worked together in MOUT are CQB and zero significantly so. You can’t hold a police response (let alone a multi agency one) to the same standard as guys who’ve worked together for a month let alone years. We don’t even really have a common language. Everyone has to be “semper Gumby” and super forgiving which by nature we’re not. That’s a while other culture convo. BTW your talking Harris vs Ayoob light shooting techniques I learned as a rookie in the late 90’s.
Others have pointed out that the 1993 original publish date for Without Remorse by the incomparable Tom Clancy would mean Terminal List is far more likely to be following on the coat tails, this show is only proximally Without Remorse. The largest reason being that the character in Without Remorse serves at the tail end of Vietnam and becomes the basis for Tier 1 elements in universe through the 80, 90's and 2000s. That said the refrigerator spouse is a long standing narrative device where the spouse/partner is killed as the inciting incident of the entire plot.
Having time spent with the Sheriff's department, they still instruct all three methods of handheld light shooting techniques in the academy as well as during qualification

The Terminal List (2018) Without Remorse · First published Aug 11, 1993, however they took huge liberties with how Jack "Clark's" wife was killed. (drunk driver in book) and it was 1960-70's time frame. JC was a Vietnam era seal
Without Remorse was written in '93, it predates The Terminal List by a couple decades. Also, I think you guys might be mixing up detcord and shocktube there a bit. Love the discussion though
The original book had to be adopted. This needed to be a series. This is supposed to be a character study and history of Mr Clark. Read the book and you will love it. Edit Check Wilhem Dafoe as Mr Clark in the older 90's movies
Sorry guys I know this is an old video but I was a demo guy. What you guys were actually talking about was MDI (aka shock tube) initiation versus time fuse. Both fire through the M6 non-electric blasting cap. Both are initiated with the M 81 initiator.
I really appreciate how you guys break down what you do and how you do absolutely amazing thank you for your service. God bless you continue to do the great work that you do.
I liked this movie from the stand point of the legendary Marine Buck Doyle trained Michael B Jordan in TTPs. It was a good action movie with decent tactical movements. Thanks again Boys! 🤘🏼🇺🇸
The lighting technique... the back of the hands together, thats the Harris technique (we remembered cause like a Harrier airplane), the one where you hold it in your hand and gun together i dont remember either. The other one thou, where the light is in one hand and you extent it far from your body, thats the FBI modified technique, it is actually really useful cause like you said people are gonna shoot toward the light.
Damn! That must be the most realistic hit&run I've seen in a movie. Great jump cuts and cgi! But dude! Your " if you come in my house this is what you're gonna get blasted with" statement. Gold.
the old FBI technique is the light up in the air, Harries technique with back of the hands crossed together, Rogers technique light is in support hand under or besides the gun, last one is neck index technique where you hold the light in one hand next to your neck and shoot strong handed extended at arms length
It would have been better if they had used the home made decompression chamber torture from the book. One of my favorite scenes Tom Clancy describes in the Jack Ryan universe.
Dude all those reasons you guys listed is the reason why I don't watch action movies as much as I used to. Its also the reason why I'm diggin' Beers & Breakdowns.
I’m a inactive marine & security contractor. I love nothing more than ending my night by crackin’ open a beer and listening to some beers and breakdowns. Stay vigilant gentlemen, and creative, love the content. Semper Fi.
The white light info is interesting from you guys. I have used the Harries technique many times and it is surprisingly stable. And while I like my weapon light it seems like the Harries should be taught as a back up. I have had negative experiences with compensators on pistols in low light as it shoots flame out of the top of the gun like a dragon. Maybe it is just the low quality ammo or compensator type that causes this. Keep up the good work I love the videos.
The pool at the beginning was the hot tub at the local YMCA. They had been waiting there for weeks. Also, they DO staff Water Diviners in the teams, just so they can find a body of water for an unnecessary SEAL reveal.
Without remorse was an og Tom Clancy book that was an inspiration for Jack Carrs book, and this Amazon video was a “modern” adaptation of without remorse
Steelo Brim was Michael's roommate. They both had different career paths. My squad partner when i worked in a maximum security prison became the Chief of Police in St. Paul. I stayed and retired as a Sergeant and now working in a Casino as Security. Love your videos, keep em coming.
Without Remorse was written in 1993, Terminal List was written in 2018. Tom Clancy has been writing these kind of stories forever. Much props to Jack Carr, but he's got a way to go.
@@amicubskitteh347 most of Clancy's books that get turned into movies have to be rewritten. Books tend to be much better, more detailed and spanning a larger portion of time and includes more details. But for what it was, stuffed into about 1.5 - 2 hours it was a good movie.
@@BrassAngelsCLT eh most of the others were FAR closer, they at least loosely followed the book. This was nowhere near. I really wish they had not pretended to be something it is not. You notice how it's a theme either the people writing or this actually happens lol but why does it always seem like Tier 1 squirrel Black Ops elements teams always seem to be murdered after the retirement
I read the book while I was in the Navy and fucking loved it. It was a page-turner pretty much from the get-go so I wanted to love the movie. I don't know what the hell happened or who was making the decisions but pretty much the only things this movie had in common with the book are the title and the name of the main character; that's about it. As it stands, the movie is okay. Michael B. Jordan turned in a good performance and there were some genuinely cool scenes, but the book is just so much better that's it's practically an insult that the two share the same title.
Great video, though a couple of notes to clear things up: First: Without Remorse is based off a book from '93. Difference in the details for just how things went down in the intro, but what the movie is based on definitely predates Terminal List (which the novel came out in 2018, since the question of when that came out for it was raised). Second: Nobody is also the same writer, and one producer was also a director on John Wick. Fun fact on that one, the writer has stated there's potential for a crossover, at least as nods and easter eggs. Definitely an interesting video though, and I'm enjoying coming through and watching your reactions :)
Love your Glock setup!! You guys should do more gear reviews, especially since you’ve got 2 SF plus a former police officer and a civilian (novice?) like Abel to give different opinions/perspectives on things like effectiveness, ease of use and reliability
Great video guys thanks. Please don’t pressure him about endgame, he really needs to see the other movies first. You know how much better endgame is when you have all those back stories. On your left
Just a small correction for 23:45. The Tom Clancy book that this movie was filmed for came out in 1993. That jack carr terminal list book came out in 2018. Maybe jack was the thief in this one lol
in case you guys havent got the chance to research what is tom clancys, if i remember well it is a writer that wrote plenty of books in witch some of the most played "tactical" games of all time are based, so the last part is a direct refference of Ghost Recon, witch is like the "tier 0" special ops force that gets assigned missions that have to be acomplish without anyone knowing who did it, and those are missions like liberate entire countries, deal with nuclear hazzards, and that stuff, and the premise of each member of the team is that they are lonewolfs like one army men that come together to make the ghosts
I feel like the first John Wick was great because the unpredictability of John and the weird underground club was mysterious. Once the second one came out it was like a commercial for 3-gun circle jerk. I haven't seen 3 lol
39:00 it turns out that Michael B. Jordan is not, in fact, a qualified explosives expert, and they had to cut and have the actual demolitions expert set that charge
I've read or listened to many Tom Clancy Books and all of Jack Carr's books. I tried watching this movie, but stopped after making it halfway thru. I barely made it thru The Terminal List series.
One of the most frustrating things while I was in law enforcement was the constant changing of partners. You work and train with someone for years and your body language and eye contact are all you need, when you change partners every 6 months that is when mistakes are made.
The book was based in the 70s. Clarks wife witnessed a murder and he was deployed to Vietnam. They killed his family and he went after them. I think John Clark is the inspiration for the punisher
I was waiting for Sean to call Andy during the Seal reveal. Also, Segal in the 80s with Hard to Kill was out before Terminal List (I know not Seal oscar worthy stuff) - just saying the theme isnt new.
The guy hopped into the pool so he had the upper hand, like how the rest of the special forces cut power to a building and use NVGs to have an upper hand, SEALs find water and carry scuba gear to have the upper hand 😂
Biggest problem with all of the movies made "based on Tom Clancy" novels, is no one gets them right, either they screw up the plot line, to the point where it is unrecognizable, or if the keep enough of the plot in the movie, the only will manage to get about half of the book in the movie, and thats after they chop it down for movie adaptation. To do a Clancy book justice would take either like a 10 hour movie, or multiple 3 hour movies, kinda like what they are doing with the new adaption of Dune. This is why Clancy got so fed up with selling the rights for his books to be made into movies. The last one he actually did was Clear and Present Danger, and he walked out on the production of that film in protest.
He didn't wet himself up to make himself more difficult to grab, that was best seal reveal he could do in a cell.

@35:57 i believe it , The Dallas police used a one lbs brick of c4 attached to a bomb disposal robot to kill that guy (not saying his name) and it barely shattered windows and cubicles in the room, and the robot was in decent shape still too,
I love when the two of you get together… 💪
Another banger in the books.. thanks, fellas
29:48. Tom Clancy's novel Without Remorse was published on August 11, 1993. Jack Carr joined the US Navy in 1996. Jack Carr's novel Terminal list novel was published on March 6, 2018.
We had silhouettes with three wraps of det cord hooked up to m14 time fuse cut to whatever time we wanted hooked to m81 initiator. The command det is shock tube hooked to m81. We were mechanized so we had room in the tracks for the bulky silhouette setup.
And the water charges worked great on doors
1:32 Buck looked ready to slap tf outta Kurt🤣
100%😅🤣
Fully expected him to say something like "we can't be friends anymore".
At least knocked that hat off
50:23 I grew up swimming and diving a lot. I just realized that I haven’t “guppied” in years, I just feel myself starting to black out and that tells me to go up🤣
The look Buck gave Kurt when he said he hasnt seen End Game yet was hilarious!!! If looks could kill he would be dead💯
OMG, the backing up into his car comment absolutely killed me! 😆😆😆
Having time spent with the Sheriff's department, they still instruct all three methods of handheld light shooting techniques in the academy as well as during qualification
Immediately hit the like and subscribe buttons after watching just a few minutes of this video! I can’t wait to like all the other videos on your channel but I gotta admit as much as I loved the info both you guys gave throughout the video- the comment section was just as epic! You guys have the best followers and after reading and hitting like on all the comments I feel like I just learned so much 🤯
If you guys havnt already i think patriots day is a must do......i know you guys do mostly military movies but with your experience as an officer i think its a must watch
The Terminal List (2018) Without Remorse · First published Aug 11, 1993, however they took huge liberties with how Jack "Clark's" wife was killed. (drunk driver in book) and it was 1960-70's time frame. JC was a Vietnam era seal
I love your long winded explanations. They have cleared the fog on so many questions I’ve had about the SOF community
The new Navy commercial "Never" includes a seal SEAL reveal, NODs down ready to go! 😂😂😂
The book is outstanding.
Don't forget that Chavez character
@@crash406 , they will turn Ding into a LGBT loser.
Guys, I would LOVE to see your reaction to Raid: Escape from Tarkov series on TH-cam. Some of the best gun handling, shootouts and CQB tactics on film
Sorry guys I know this is an old video but I was a demo guy. What you guys were actually talking about was MDI (aka shock tube) initiation versus time fuse. Both fire through the M6 non-electric blasting cap. Both are initiated with the M 81 initiator.
shock tube thats it! thanks dude
I love the fact you mention c4 vs something like comp b. There’s a reason they use comp b in things like grenades and mortars.
You guys killed another BnB. Awesome Episode!!!!!
You guys ever think about doing that old TV show The Unit?
This cat said “back into my car and I’m coming for your family”😂. Funny AF.
Tom Clancy is a great creator. Everything from jack ryan to rainbow six and splinter cell.
This is not even close to what Clancy wrote. Good for what it is though.
I would have enjoyed it A LOT more. leave it named Without remorse, change character names and leave the Clancy off of it. all they had to do and this would have been legit.
I read the book, and the movie is way off.
I loved the decompression tank, in the book.
30:27 this part is just perfect, i died laughing with you guys! Keep it up
But how can we have a seal reveal when the first scene is a basement in rural Wisconsin? Leave that to me! Random Puddle time.
Buck, have you thought of trying Beers and Breakdowns for VIDEO GAMES? I'm curious to know how you feel about games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Division, etc. etc.
The commits are so accurate on direct action and tier 1
Great video, though a couple of notes to clear things up:
First: Without Remorse is based off a book from '93.
TY
YOU guys are so fun!
salud!° from a fan in south america!
One movie you should react to is Elite Squad granted the movie is in Portuguese but it’s actually a pretty good movie.
I really enjoy your content. Educational, funny and thoughtful. Love the breakdowns.
This started out as the Tom Clancy novel that serves as a prequel for the well known game series Rainbow Six
my favs of modern movies is 1. lone survivor 2. 13 hours 3. patriots day 4. american sniper
last two i think could flip flop depending on my mood
Love your Glock setup!!
You guys should do more gear reviews, especially since you’ve got 2 SF plus a former police officer and a civilian (novice?) like Abel to give different opinions/perspectives on things like effectiveness, ease of use and reliability
The accountant is a dope movie too .
& then you guys ask the same question I was thinking at 29:49. Lol now we all know with my previous comment!
I just think its wild, that all these years on youtube doing Beers and Breakdowns, and you guys havent done Missing In Action with Chuck Norris😢
i was waiting for Buck to say 'The Seal Reveal' hahahahaha nobody says it like him :D
in case you guys havent got the chance to research what is tom clancys, if i remember well it is a writer that wrote plenty of books in witch some of the most played "tactical" games of all time are based, so the last part is a direct refference of Ghost Recon, witch is like the "tier 0" special ops force that gets assigned missions that have to be acomplish without anyone knowing who did it, and those are missions like liberate entire countries, deal with nuclear hazzards, and that stuff, and the premise of each member of the team is that they are lonewolfs like one army men that come together to make the ghosts
I feel like the first John Wick was great because the unpredictability of John and the weird underground club was mysterious. Once the second one came out it was like a commercial for 3-gun circle jerk. I haven't seen 3 lol
You should, at the very least for "scientific" reasons 😏
Review the raid episodes for Terminal List or the Domestic hit episode! (Hope I didn’t add spoilers here)
I practiced clearing my house at night and all went good until I stepped on that Lego.
The seal review in this movie is supposed to be out of a well.😁
What's your thoughts on eye adjustment dark vs light? Not disagreeing with your assessment.
I read Clancy's book on this about 30 years ago. Was awesome.
39:00 it turns out that Michael B. Jordan is not, in fact, a qualified explosives expert, and they had to cut and have the actual demolitions expert set that charge
Would love to hear your perspective on another film with Tom Clancy's character John Clark, Clear and Present Danger.
I've read or listened to many Tom Clancy Books and all of Jack Carr's books. I tried watching this movie, but stopped after making it halfway thru. I barely made it thru The Terminal List series.
M21 & m23 shock tube with initiator. The time fuze is m-14
One of the most frustrating things while I was in law enforcement was the constant changing of partners. You work and train with someone for years and your body language and eye contact are all you need, when you change partners every 6 months that is when mistakes are made.
Really hope the Tom Clancy books get adapted properly, can't wait for team rainbow though !
The book was based in the 70s. Clarks wife witnessed a murder and he was deployed to Vietnam. They killed his family and he went after them. I think John Clark is the inspiration for the punisher
The book came out 20 years after the Punisher character was made
There were books featuring a guy named bolan whos family was murdered and a fought a one man war against the mob
Welcome back to Vodka Pulls and Breakdowns
I was waiting for Sean to call Andy during the Seal reveal.
Also, Segal in the 80s with Hard to Kill was out before Terminal List (I know not Seal oscar worthy stuff) - just saying the theme isnt new.
21:36 I just loved how he said that 🇺🇸
#dont thunk it don’t try it
lol loved the seal reveal convo
Loved this movie. If you haven’t already The Gray Man on Netflix is worth a watch. I personally think it’s a good one to break down.
Hunt for Red October wasn't completely horrible.
It wouldn't be a Tom Clancy movie without the SEAL reveal. 😄
None of the 4 tom clancy movies have seal reveals.
@@qbasicmichael that was sarcasm 😏
That's how my infantry battalion was. Everyone i went to basic with made up our unit after AIT (COHORT) unit
