I've been scowering TH-cam looking for this type of build..I have a 2019 JL Sport S and I've been traveling in it with my dog and I might add sleeping quite uncomfortably..But now I'm going to build this with my brother in Dec..I am 6'2 so sleeping vertically will actually work just fine.. I just ordered a hardtop and roof rack so I can store my gear..And now with this, I can save money by not buying a tent and can sleep in here comfortably.. Totally stealing this build..Thanks..!!!!
I've been looking into designing my own overlanding / camping set-up for my 2 door JK and I like what you've done here. I think I could modify the slide panels to extend my foot space between the front seats, and also utilize heavy-duty drawer slides with a plywood floor so the cargo under the sleeping platform will slide out, perhaps one side for a camp stove the other side for a cooler. Looks well designed and constructed.
@@GetLostAdventures yeah, just got to do trial and error on the support legs to get the plywood flush on top with the jeeps edge. It's the perfect setup for what I want. even without using it as a sleeper. its a good way to get double storage in the back!!! I think I migh add some pull out drawers or maybe two pull out tub type things for for underneath. Also, i'd have to extend the two small top pieces to go up inbetween the front seats so I could actually fit my legs in when I lay down. i'm 6 foot 1. haha again. thanks for this amazing video and idea. saves me the hassle of doing a rooftop tent!
Yeah definitely beats the price of a rtt for sure and I also plan on putting drawers back there so keep an eye out for that if you don’t do yours first! And thanks for the support I’m glad you found the channel!
Nice build, and a few thoughts. . . . * reverse the 1st & 2nd panel placement. This would allow the drivers seat to be left in place for when just one person is sleeping and preserve a safe drive away ability. * an upgrade thought would be to construct a slider storage box or two to more easily get access to below the platform. * regardless of the ideas above, I would want to maximize the length along the passenger side and center counsel area and always have the seat moved as far forward as possible. Anyhow, great build. My set up is a basic mattress in the back of my 21 Subi Crosstrek. 🙏⚓️☀️🤠
The biggest problem in a 2 dr is how to get adequate sleeping length inside and still have enough clearance below the sound bar. Here's an idea, fold the passenger seat flat to make a 6-4 bed.. The rear storage platform height would match the folded seat height. How come no one else has done this! I guess I'll have to make a video. 😄
I have a TJ that I’m working on to do the same thing but it’s ma and the dog . I’m thinking of taking out the front passenger seat for more room to lay down . I like your idea I would make drawers for the space below to be able to got to things I need .
I'm 6-2 and sleep in mine quite comfortably.. the secret is to have a passenger seat that folds flat.. makes a 74" bed, inside! You need the storage platform to be the same height. The other point, the sound bar is annoyingly low for turning over or moving about when the sleeping platform is that high.
Not sure if you’ll see this since the vid has been out a while, but would love to know if the main 1/2” board is one solid piece or 2 with the carpet stretching across for a single appearance? If the main deck board is 1, how did you get it in and still sit under the lip on the sides? Please and thank you.
Not to be a criticism, but rather a clarification; please correct me if I'm wrong. I think you meant to say "I sleep [diagonally]" (not "vertically" -- otherwise you'd be sleeping standing up). And, while you're positioned diagonally, you're horizontal. Hey, I flunked algebra, so I'm not perfect. Sweet build, none-the-less.
Automatic subscribe! I have a 07 Jeep wrangler sahara 2 door and I plan on living in it,so this is perfect! I hope that you show the dimensions, ect on this!
This is awesome. I have been looking for a buildout for roadtrips with my pups. This works perfectly. Now to get someone to build it for me (I'm sure I could figure it out but I don't have the time or tools). If you're ever in Key West and want a "job" of building one, let me know.
Vertically? lol If you're 6-0 or more, this won't work. I tried it using the same platform height. Was like a sardine under the sound bar. You need to fold the seat flat.
Please post the measurements for this! I would love to do something similar with my Jeep.

I love love this. I've been wanting to remove the backseat for storage reasons. Can you please do a video on how this was made please!!!!!
Im over here looking for an RV and then it ring a bell to use my 2 door jeep thank you so much
Please give us a part 2 thank you
This is a very popular ask i may have to make it happen!

Nice creative solution. You have good woodworking skills. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the support!
very cool!!! best 2door build i've seen!!! i'm going to attempt the same build for mine!!! thank you!
Hopefully I explained everything good enough to follow along with! It’s a game changing set up for sure!

@@GetLostAdventures did you use an adhesive to put the carpet down on the plywood?
I should have looking back but I just used staples on all the edges still holding up great but glue would definitely add more years to the life of it!
Nice job.
Awesome build!
Very good idea, I changed it but youre start is nice to improve, thank you very much!!

@@sscbkr48, does the passenger seat recline flat?
Great setup
Great job wish you were in Florida. I will love this on my 2017 wrangler.
Hey this is fantastic. Could you share the build with the exact dimensions and products you used? I’d be happy to pay for something like that!
BROTHER!! SICK!! PLEASE SELL SOME PLANS!!

Great build, I have a TJ and one day would like to do something similar.
The advantage with a 2 dr JK.. they're wider and longer.
Great build!! I wish I could sleep in the Jeep, I can't even fit in a JKU with the seats as far forward.

@@sscbkr48 Jeep should have done this! Folding the seat flat is the way to go.
Bad ass. I tried a self design and it is nowhere as great as what you put together. Inspiration to be better. Thank you for sharing.
This one has a couple flaws also but has been working great hopefully it’ll help with your build👍🏽
Just finished my build following your design - awesome - $55, 6 hrs and stuff I had in the garage. Thank you sooo much.
Love to hear it man enjoy it!!!

prob too late but maybe do metal? you can glue super strong magnets to stuff you need easy access to and stick them there
What can you do for the back of a jk like a kitchen ?

If I’m ever out that way I’ll give you a hand but if you’re ever out in AZ I’ll lend a hand!
Do you have all the dimensions and etc? Willing to give them to a fellow Jeeper? I so want to do this!
I don’t have the exact measurements but I have had enough questions on them that it could be in an up coming video!
I believe you meant to say “sleep diagonally” instead of “vertically”.
Looks great
Thank you!
That's my Jeep 😍
Hi! What is the length of the bed platform, please?
@@minaponpoon I'm sorry I don't know. That's not my Jeep. I was saying it's like my Jeep
Does it work for anyone that is not a member of the Lolly pop guild? (any bets if they will get the reference? lol @ these young kids.
Do you think this build would fit a 2022 2 door wrangler?
It should be a pretty close concept! Give it a try!🤙🏽
I tried sleeping in my 2 door, but after hitting my head too many times I bought a pop up tent
Put a net for easy access
Is there a way to remove it easily? Just thinking if you want to back seats back in
Yea just remove the platforms and screw the seats back
It's too small for most people. Not sure how you sleep "vertical". Very nice build. I'm building something similar for my jku.

I hope it helped in some way! If you’re doing something similar keep me updated I’d love to see!
