  • I have seen this asked over and over "How can you set up a two door for sleeping in?" This set up really only works for one person but it can be left in your vehicle all the time if you no longer need a backseat This sleeping platform will also help to keep your gear secure even with a soft top.

The heating pad idea is stellar

Sleeping comfortably in a 2 dr JK is a cinch once you know how to flatten the passenger seat (you can). I built a platform 13"H to the back of the seats, front/rear storage below. Metal straps secure the box to the rear seatbelt anchors. A removable piece of ply sits on the passenger seat from a lip on the front of the box compressed by a ratchet strap. You now have a full length bed. The single mattress on the pass side is 30x74. If one is all there is, you're finished. For a 2nd sleeper, fill in the balance with a cushion the same length as the pass side. A short piece of ply behind the driver's seat supports a shorter cushion giving in effect a full bed, like sleeping in a V berth on a boat. Lots of room your feet and 48" wide at the head. Because the platform is only seat height you have lots of room beneath the sound bar. Each person has their own door to get in and out.
Bonus points.. The top from the back half of our storage lifts off (it's 24"x41") and becomes a bumper mounted platform. It's held in place by 2 ratchet straps suspended from the roll bar.. the 2- 5" passenger side cushions turn the rear into a rear facing lounge with the narrower piece (same length) becoming the backrest. Works pretty good. The best part, it's 2 doors short of a 4 door. 🤩

If you're not hauling another person remove the passenger seat. Did that in my Athey street sweepers so I could carry a cooler, supplies, and tools.

Great idea. I’ve slept in mine a few times but nothing that elaborate.

Great video, do you run the jeep at all or just use the heat pad?

Thanks for watching. When it is chilly I will a bit before I get into my sleeping bag. Some of my friends will run it periodically throughout the night, but I don't usually

@@mudbudzwheelin3823 you could remove it, or go rogue and learn how to fold it flat. Once you fig that out, you'll wonder why Jeep didn't do it for you. 😀

The wood should have been sanded and treated with shellec to prevent splinters, mold and insects.
