In Louisiana we catch them, castrate them and mark them by notching one ear. They have a hard muscle shield that goes across their chest over the shoulders. Once castrated, in about a year they will soften up. That's when they're good to eat. We put them on the smoker for about 6 hours with apple wood. Good eats right there.
I was a Paratrooper in the Army. If I was hunting a wounded, dangerous wild animal, I certainly would not sling my rifle over my shoulder. It's that 2 or3 seconds that you can bring your rifle to bear, that could save your life. I love your videos
Just a suggestion, when tracking game, use toilet paper on trees where u find blood. So u can look back and see where u last found blood if u need to go back and start over. Also helps u find your way back out. Old hunter trick. Toilet paper breaks down as well
Another older trick when tracking is when you lose the blood trail, drop your hat on the ground or hang it in a tree and circle out in 5 ft. Increments, til you find it again. I think I'd rather have the tp if I had an urge to go. Leaves are a poor substitute for tp...
A little advice for protection. Get 2x4 or 2x6 boards for the pin along the bottom of the outside spaced a xouple of inches apart to keep predators from tearing down the fence. And the reason you didn't take the hog down is because you dont have the right ammo in your pistol. Self-defense rounds want penetrate a hog because of how tuff their skin and muscles are, you need a high velocity ball tip ammo for that.

Wild boars will slice you or your dogs with their tusks but Louisiana state dog, the catahoula dog & some other breeds, know how to hunt wild boar. They get one on the front & it latches onto an ear & holds the boar down until the hunter comes & dispatches the boar. Have you thought about metal detecting the old homestead area? Since people lived there, there could be old coins, a watch, and various other goodies in the ground.

This was a great video. Those wild boars are dangerous be careful. Too bad you didn’t find it. Take care✌️🇺🇸❤️
This is why we should all carry at all times, when something happens it will be quick!
Yeah those wild boar's are nasty. We had a baby one come through are wooden fence and was charging at my son when he was 4. That was a close call. I think I aged 10 years that day. My neighbors were finally able to trap it. Glad everyone is OK. Good luck sleeping tonight.
❤ Brandy your a good tracker and easy going walking along drinking coffee, since Pearl might be ready for babies just maybe soon we’ll see babies from Percy and Pearl , lol and be dressed
Wow that’s scary. Would it be possible to put hot wire around the outside of Pearl and Percy’s pen as a deterrent against any other wild hogs?? Just a thought 💭
It wouldn't slow them down at all
Electric wire works for me
@@juanitaziegler7016
That’s what I thought, between the fencing and hotwire I would think it a good deterrent until a little powpow.
Electric fencing should work. It keeps the bears away from my bee’s.
Agree
Have you thought about metal detecting the old homestead area? Since people lived there, there could be old coins, a watch, and various other goodies in the ground.
When we moved into a home in north central Arkansas, I wanted to plant some bushes, and when we dug up the ground, I found a coin-an 1883 gold half dollar!
Wow that was crazy 🤪. Ya'll be safe. God bless each of you ❤ 😊
From what I’ve been reading, these wild hogs are taking over, so to speak. It’s gotta be really dangerous. I know you’re careful and knowledgeable. Stay safe! 💝🌍💝
I really enjoy your content. Great channel. Beautiful family. 💝👍🏽
Farm life is hard work, day n night, 365. It must be rewarding in so many ways though. ✨
Yeah, they’re a huge problem where I live. Only seen a couple so far, but we have a gun range in our back acreage that we use regularly. The hogs have been absent since we started target shooting regularly
@@dragmorian6347 , thanks for replying to my comments. Target practice is a good deterrent. They’re smart animals n know what a gunshot means. Good on you. You too, stay safe! Those critters are huge, powerful n fast. 👍🏽💝 Country living !!! 👍🏽
@@TallulahBelle3276 yeah, they’re actually impressive animals. And they taste amazing on the smoker. Y’all stay safe, too!
Hi Brande and Dutch. That was quite the way to start your day. I am sure those wild hogs can be very dangerous. I know Daniel Arms has had quite a time with wild hogs. Be safe and take care. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Wild hogs can be deadly.
Nice story , my grandmother used to tell good stories.
Crazy morning for sure. I was rooting for you to find the boar. Even wild animals deserve to not suffer through a death from wounds like that. Pretty sure he's going to live because of how he stopped bleeding and you didn't find him keeled over.
Hi! Brandy,I use to watch your videos,I got really sick with cancer and kidneys, but under Dr's care now,Kidney drs,and blood test every 3 months, but you guys finally got everything built and completed, but I missed your vodeos, love you All,Cherokee Judy
Maybe put the electric fence around Pearl and Percy's enclosure fence.
Keep them mags full and bring an extra.
Oh it was full, it’s a Glock 43
I shot one one time with a 44 Mag three times the first two and never entered the rib cage the hollow-points mushrooms and stopped the third one went through I could have covered them all up although holds up with a 3in circle
In Montana, we never go outside unless strapped or have my rifle..... No wild hogs (yet), but we have bear, lion, and moose, among other critters..... Good job with presenting this hog infiltration. That's why they call 'em, surprises !! ha !! Thanks for sharing, brother !! Always victory !!!
Dutch what about putting 2 strands of hot wire on the outside of 🐖 pen? So glad everyone is ok. God Bless 💕💕💕
Beautiful birds
Man, that hog would have been nice in your freezer 😜 . I guess Brandy was taking in stride with casually carrying her coffee cup around like it's a walk in the park lol 😀 Love you all. Be safe and good 🙏🇺🇸
99% of the time those hogs are NOT edible!! They have a tendency to stink really bad!! They could also make you pretty sick!!❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤
@@jennifermassie7227 where do you think bacon comes from?????
@@southernfriedmike3263 Farm raised and farm fed hogs...
@@jennifermassie7227 they could be full of worms too..yuk
Bacon doesn't come from a wild hog.
I still remember that early episode of South Park. “Look out. It’s coming right at us!”
I’d be so lost. I’m glad you didn’t take Gabby. I’d hate to see her torn up by that boar. Just Jimmy Houston telling stories of how bad his dog cut up. Hopefully you find it. Could you fly a drone or is there too many trees? Good luck!🍀 💖🇺🇸 I say divine intervention you got up when you did! 🙏🏻
What an AWESOME morning!! Glad you're ready for anything! Also hope you find that big old hog!!
What a way to start your morning! I would have had a heart attack. I’m always afraid I will run into wild hogs when I go for long walks here in Louisiana with my dogs. I often see sign of them and we have one female pig that roams the property. 😱
Hi! Long Time! Iam Cherokee Judy,I use to watch your videos,Wow you have accomplished alot!
Never a dull moment. I hope he’s done for. They are Trouble!!!
