all the branches and limbs need to be burned or relocated and the whole area gets raked so its more like a park---I have done that and more deer, and raccoons still come around ..and will not have anywhere to hide
Be careful, about getting bit by those ticks. I contracted Lyme Disease from a tick out of my own backyard 9 yrs ago,& it has ruined my health. I’m not going to go into specifics but take every precaution you can to keep from getting bitten.
Really sorry, Kathie. Everyone needs to check themselves DAILY if working or just enjoying the outdoors in the woods. Demolition ticks fabricated. Yeah, they exist and were created. Montauk.
Coyotes are very smart and wiley. I had a trapper that worked my property for coyotes years back. He took every precaution to keep his scent away from his traps. When he pulled up on his traps to check them, he would roll out a tarp on the ground before even stepping out of his truck. He used rubber gloves while handling the traps and bait.
My yellow cats follow me everywhere....shot a 9 point last year with my yellow cat pacing back and forth on a log in front of me...he didn't like the report of the 30-06, but he came right back after about 5 seconds....theyre fearless and faithful
I would say dispatch any predator that is on your property, that you trap... if people complain they havent had a farm or their live stock killed by one!!
When I had my dairy farm. We would pasture off new areas with electric fencing. We would tie strips of white cloth about every 4 or 5 feet apart, so the animals could see it and not run through the fence .
suggestion for the metal trap. make a wire box for the area where the bait box goes. this way you have no accidental escapes in the future. do not use chicken wire though. use a much heavier gauge wire. i have seen the wild critters chew thru the chicken wire
Before you choose which chicken to use as bait, look at the cone. Bright red means that they are laying and the stress will cause them to quit for a while
Snow White took one for the team 👊🏻. I was wondering when you opened that top hatch of the raccoon could escape through there. Just glad you didn’t inadvertently get attacked your self. Just be careful. Thanks for sharing. Take care, see ya :)
Snow-white and the other hen deserve some worms or a treat of some kind for their service. Poor girls, lol. I think Cody's taking his time. Once that old cooler meat is gone he may go after the chicken. It might help that the trap will smell like chicken and racoon. Good luck!❤❤
The Lone Star tick bite almost killed me (in the TX Panhandle) and I still have repercussions 8 years later. Please,Please be careful of tick bites. If you ever find a reddened circle around a tick bite IMMEDIATELY go to a Dr.and get antibiotics.
If you catch him again, lights out!!! Be careful of those ticks. I got bit back in the 90s and got rocky mountain spotted fever. Messed me up for a few months and still have red splotches where I was bitten.
While you were looking into the trap, I seen the bottom was open and wondered what you would do if the coon came up on you. Then I remembered the record of Jerry Clower fighting off the souped up bobcat off, "Someone help me, Sho-o-ot this thing". Hard to type when you are laughing. Be careful out there.
Coons are chicken killers. You can’t change their nature if you intend to keep chickens you will have to deal with raccoons in a more permanent fashion!
Thank you for another awesome video me and my son enjoy your videos that was a sneaky raccoon. He outsmarted you can’t wait for another video to come out. You have a wonderful evening and God bless you’re in our thoughts and prayers.
Be very careful and always pack some sort of weapon when trapping wild animals, lots to consider rabies, an accidental bite from one of them could lead to huge infection better to be safe now than sorry later take care Dutch❤
Looks like you might need a small pet carrier. That's what we used to transport 2-3 chickens at a time. My husband has been taking out coons and possums all spring, they have been coming on our porch which makes them fair game. Racoons will out chickens given a chance, they will reach through wire to get one.
Read paddock paradise, it's important to keep a horses feed moving to keep their gut mov I ng. Horses' health starts with a healthy gut. Wet ground is horrible for horses hooves. Cheif looks so good. Glad you got his weight down a little. They look like tiny horses not rolly polls. Keep learning and loving those animals . Great to see the family so involved and out in the fresh air.
I almost hit deer in 2 different setting today! Completely different place. 2 in one spot and one, running scared alone, in another. Farmers around here are working in the fields, making them run. My cousins (both women) are crazy, they caught a Coyote pup while out hunting asparagus. They put all over Facebook that they caught a baby fox. Everyone was saying, "Uh no that's not a fox" It's a wonder they didn't get attacked. Crazy!
Hell that'd be fine!😃 I know a guy that ,when he was a young man on horseback caught a live young coyote pup...he took it in his arms and on the back of the horse ,took it home and raised him as a pet. Just to see if he could. And he did, it was always a weee bit wild but he kept him. He was a very adventurous man, always wanted to see how things worked. I asked him ,didn't you get bit! He said ah no , just scratches on his arms😲
@wynott givemore92 people don't think that this is possible but how do they think our ancestors caught, trained, and raised the first pet dogs which were likely wolves
Coyotes love cats! Make sure it follows you home. We had a resturant for yrs. I would bring old bread (honey wheat) & throw I'm the woods for deer. I had a video of a coyote with a LOAF of bread trotting off. GOBSMACKED, I was.( I guess when you're hungry, you'll eat anything!) 😂
Hey if you used some of that throw and grow on the kuni pigs pasture would they eat it? The way they love grass i bet they would love the turnip leaves and salad greens in them. With raccoons always look up they will climb the first tree they come to. You need to do away with all the raccoons and then the turkeys will survive better.
You should have another cage and have the chicken you are bringing to the trap already set up in it. That way you just have to swap out cages instead of chickens. You can put the cage down to remove and replace the branches. Also make it easier on you if you have something caught in the trap.
Dutch yes coyotes are smart! They can smell your sent on the limbs and brush that you are putting on top of the trap. You should wear gloves. Much love and be safe!
Good day! I am certainly not a trapper. However, I think you could make the swopping of chickens easier if you could get one more smal cage. Kind regards. Wishing you success catching Cody and all hiis family.
I caught your video and heard the electric fence for. Minis. I’ve owned horses for years. A small pen is nice. Grass digests in their digestive track differently. Laminitis comes in many forms. Founder is severe. You can also invest in grazing muzzles. My horse wears one on a small grass area even if for a few minutes as he is insulin resistant. If I remember correctly there is also 52 plants that are toxic to horses. Horses will eat grass by the roots. So rotation is great. I’ve read storeys guide to feeding horses very good read. You are doing great on your channel. God bless.
I lost most of my flock of chickens to raccoon. You are better off dispatching them than relocating. They have a wide territorial range. You're looking up to 10 miles to keep them from returning.
People can be so rude. I would call that a pond to. Not a big one but a nice one. Thats why you don't have many crawl fish in the creek. 😂😂 nope we missed it. Sheww you had me scared thinking maybe a small bear or a hog. Stay safe. Have a great night.
well it sounds like you got all the coyotes that had you surrounded down to one small one;;;that's great haven't been on the tube in awhile how did you get rid of all those that had you surrounded
If u notice the coyote n front of the meat u need to put 3,or4 metal traps out n front of the cooler at 4or 5 ft. And I bet you can get it done try it and see.
If you can find a spot down wind from a nice pile of old meat you can lay in wit for them. We stayed up on the flat roof of our garage. Waited for them. They had moved on pups were old enough to travel.
I would dispatch both the raccoon and the coyote if they get caught in your trap. If not, they will continue to try to catch and eat your chickens and ducks. Please be careful when any of you are out - Lyme disease is no joke and can be totally disabling. Enjoy your family in your videos😊
You need those meat chickens Kevin’s kids (mainly Kaya) raised for 4H... nobody bonded with them, and lots of meat for the family ;) ... We live in the city of Richmond, Virginia... over an acre but restrictions:( My husband caught a bunch of racoons (some destroyed our roof, he was pissed), but he relocated them, not exactly legal but wth.

Raccoons cook up very nice, meat is a little dark but if cooked slowly over a fire they taste great. Always have them a our game club yearly game only dinner.
Start with a couple hours at first. My mini goes out on grass 4 acres with a big horse every other day. Gets hay every day 1 flake. Only a couple hours a day.
Cow-oatie! The picture if this one, Coty, was a great picture. He looked healthy. You learn something every day with trapping. Raccoons are sly little fellows.
If me I would have permanently removed the raccoon. And yes mini's are prone to founder on the new sweet spring grass. We even started our big horses on spring grass the same way, a hour or two each day for 4-5 days then added a hour or two every 4-5 days we also mowed the spring grass down once it was 8-12" tall to help get rid of the higher sugar content in that grass to help prevent the founder and possible colic issues (gas buildup). They will for sure the extra room to run around. Be sure they know what the hot wire is (we would wet their faces and make them touch the fence so they know what it was (wire electric fence with strips of cloth tied around it so they could see where it was).
Raccoons will wreck a whole flock of chickens in a single night. You definitely don't want to be let them go if they're that close.
Isn't the purpose for trapping a predator to dispatch it? What is the point here?
all the branches and limbs need to be burned or relocated and the whole area gets raked so its more like a park---I have done that and more deer, and raccoons still come around ..and will not have anywhere to hide
I agree, I have a friend that has baby chicks and ducks and a raccoon killed everyone in one nigh, guess they were teenage size,
Those bugs are American Carrion beetles. They eat rotting flesh and fruit. also maggots. Coyotes are smart raccoons not as smart. Hopefully next time.
DISPATCH FOR SURE!!!

I had a dumb one in a live trap, he was pissed and tried to bite my barrel, didn't end up too well for him.
Use the DUKE COON TRAP ….never fails
A racoon figured out how to undo the latch on my electric smoker and drag the metal pieces out. No food in there but it was probably the smell..
