Hello Emeril, I came across your channel looking for a recipe for Apple crisp OMG I made this dish OMG me and my family are in love. This is a nice, simple and easy dish. Thank you for sharing. The topping took this dish over the top.
I found the recipe online and made this yesterday. It was easy. It just took awhile to core and peel the apples. This was delicious and I will make this again!
@@bdlc592 sounds like the butter was not cold enough. You want to cut it so it will leave small rounded balls of butter coated with the sugar and flour and leaves more of a crumble. Also do not use your hands to mix, the warmth of your fingers will melt the butter.
1 tablespoon plus 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter cut into 1/2-inch pieces 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 cup light brown sugar 1/4 cup plus 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 Granny Smith apples 3 Golden Delicious apples 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch 1 teaspoon cinnamon
I just made a sample of this in the stone wave, I have to say Emeril is the man. I love his version better cause is so simple to prepare and simply delicious, and no oats. I was looking for a no brainer apple crisp recipe and this is it. I will be making more apple crisp following this recipe.
I can't wait to try this one bc he don't use any nutmeg.. nutmeg gives me headaches, but love the cinnamon..Thank you Emeril!! I sure miss watching you on TV and my grandma rest her soul cracked up every time you went, Bam!!
I found this recipe on his website. Mind you, there is no mention of the granulated sugar so this might be slightly different. This will at least give a reference point as to the amounts. Ingredients: 4 sweet red apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced; 2/3 cup sugar; 2 to 3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice; Ground nutmeg; Ground cinnamon; 1 cup all-purpose flour; 1 stick (1/4 pound ) unsalted butter, softened; 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
This is the oldest Apple Crisp recipe, Ive found. Mine came from Germany via my mother-in-law. It was her grandmother's. That would have been 300-500 years ago. Even baked before ovens were common. It was cooked in an iron skillit with the lid on for a few minutes to cook the apples then lid came off. Then the top would carmelize and sugar would crisp.
Why do some use room temp butter or other like here, suggest cold butter? I am wondering if it cold be that some may not want to wait for butter to soften or that some will leave out too long and get sick or something?? I always have butter on the counter to soften. I cook so much and like to not mess with cold butter-and haven't got sick yet. But, I'm wondering now if there is a difference in taste?? I don't like messing with the pastry cutter...but if Emeril likes it, well perhaps I should give it a try?
So good and so simple, but where Emeril said if you want more cinnamon ( he didn't need to say any more as I would have been adding it already) and I love cinnamon and don't think you can get to much. Yes I would have added it. God my mom could make some incredible apple crisp!
June 21, 2018: As always, it looks delicious. My aunts taught me the art of pie baking, and apple was my favorite. I made a rhubarb pie from fresh fruit that grew in my neighbor's yard while living in Enfield, Connecticut. My husband Tim and our neighbors didn't seem to mind the bitter taste--the extra sugar softened the tartness. I never considered using a cast iron skillet...great idea Emeril! Kate
I use oats and Graham crackers instead of flour, the crackers also allow you to cut back on the sugar and give it a real crisp, and organic cinnamon of course....
Why can’t I find your spaghetti sauce in the stores consistently? Omg I love the marinara sauce it taste just like the sauce in the mall at the pizza place!
I am going to make this but I wish I were the exact measurements....Days later edited to add, I mixed apples with pears and it came out perfectly via using a visual of the ingredients to measure.
Dear Emeril I'm here on the Gulf Coast Biloxi Mississippi you had a restaurant Island View at the casino in Gulfport well here's the thing I want to know about other combinations either Granny Smith with Macintosh or a Rome Apple what is your opinion and thank you for the good work I love you recipes I wrote down your red beans and rice recipe years ago and I've been making it for weddings that's what they wanted once they tasted it that's what they wanted for their reception so thank you again Emerald

Can you help me with the topping, I didn’t get a crumb I wound up with doughy topping. It’s in the oven now and no telling how it will come out😞

I made this recipe twice for church and for home every one loved it 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Yeah thanks for not telling us how much of everything you use. Real helpful
Lol
I,am trying this to.Thank you for sharing this with us.
I tried this recipe it came out good
apple crisp in a cast iron? top notch!
If you cook savory in a cast iron, then make sweet...your dessert might take like chicken or stew.
I love emeril.. I would love to meet him in person... He is amazing
Really delicious, but I think the amounts for the topping should be doubled from what was published on the website.
Ive always wondered in presentations like this what would be wrong with taking a spatula and cleaning the bowl out or is that not cool?
Fall, and apple crisp. 👍
Why can’t I find your spaghetti sauce in the stores consistently? Omg I love the marinara sauce it taste just like the sauce in the mall at the pizza place!
Made this today it was awesome! but I didn't use the lemon and I used the Golden Delicious apples.
Wow, that looks delicious.
Why did I end up wit a doughy topping vs the crumb topping, what did I do wrong?
I am going to make this but I wish I were the exact measurements....Days later edited to add, I mixed apples with pears and it came out perfectly via using a visual of the ingredients to measure.
Super 😍😍😍
That is my favore thing to eat I love apple crisp
Me Myself And I they call it Apple Crumble in the U.K (I’ve been told)
Ahhhhhh yes, hot with a scoop of neller ice cream 😋
The absolute King to Julia Child’s Queen of cooking!
I love that you did not use dried oats. Great recipe! 👍🏼
Closed captions would really help! It looks delicious!
Wouldn’t be that hard to figure ingredients measurements it was so simple !!!!
Yummy 😊

can i put it inside of a pie dish like making a pie?
I used less sugar and it was 😋
It's wonderful! Hey Emeril.....I miss you, hope all is well paisan.
What are the actual measurements of the ingredients, please.
To prevent oxydation you can add lemon or put the apples in cold water 😉
I would like to try this but how do one know how much flour to add for the topping
I made this and it turned out amazing! But I added oatmeal to the crust :) yummmmmmy
Why tho? (I'm baking uneducated)
MyZ001 some recipes use it just to have a nice touch I guess
I sure she means oats not oatmeal.
We’re not all chefs and some just learning how to bake and/or cook. What are the measurements please?
1 tablespoon plus
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup plus 3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 Granny Smith apples
3 Golden Delicious apples
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Best receipt and great- no oats ! Thanks
If you search google for Emeril Lagasse apple crisp, it comes right up.
What about measurements for the ingredients?? 😕
Looks DELICIOUS, Emiril.
My new favourite food channel 😍😍😍
What kind of flour did you use?
Where are the measured ingredients? How much flour?
😋Yummy! Missing vanilla bean ice cream & caramel!
Eyeballs are the best measuring tools.
I love Apple crisp extra cinnamon 💚🍎🍏
Why two types of sugar?
