  • ICM has made a big change to the low ambient head pressure control line with the addition of the new ICM 325A. This new product also caused the discontinuation of the ICM 333 & ICM 325HN, some of our favorite low ambient products.
The ICM 325A represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the ICM 325HN. Notably, the ability to fine-tune target temperature/pressure settings is a valuable addition. This new 325A can be adjusted with a smartphone.
The placement of the temp sensor on all of the head pressure controls, is an area of confusion. The instructions indicate sensor placement on a straight segment of a coil before a bend, but this often doesn't align with the coil configurations we encounter. It's also unclear as the included zip tie and rubber strip implies the sensor should be wrapped in the rubber, but if th sensor is installed on a coil bend, mid-bend, it is difficult to wrap, and the sensor has low contact area with the probe. In practice, many of us often opt for installing the probe on the liquid line after the condensing coil. The pre-set settings can over cool the condenser if the probe is not in an ideal location. Insulating the temperature probe, relocating it away from snow, and positioning it as close to the coil as possible have proven partly effective, but this is the reason we like the adjustable devices to achieve ideal head temperatures/pressures.
Setting the target temperature/pressure is important when setting up a device, however we also use the main setting terminal to fully engage the fan, both for summertime operation and to check vitals like refrigerant charge.
For technicians preparing facilities for seasonal transitions, the added step of using a cell phone can be time-consuming. We prefer the simplicity of adjustment using screw terminals, as this is a more efficient and professional solution.
Looking ahead, we are hoping for the return of the ICM 333. We view the ICM 333 as better suited for commercial applications, the new ICM 325A, positioned as a more residential-oriented product. offering both products will enrich the offerings within the ICM Universal low ambient head pressure control product line-up.

I would have to agree, I feel like many techs arent going to graph it out and make multiple adjustments?

    Try it with transducer.

There is a video on the channel of a 325 with a pressure transducer.

Is this 3 phase Condense motor?

No, the 325 is for single phase PSC condenser fan motors. ICM makes the 334 for 3 phase condenser motors.
