  • As the temperatures drop and winter sets in, your HVAC system faces a unique challenge-maintaining cooling performance when the ambient temperature is lower than ideal. This scenario is where low ambient cooling solutions come into play. Low ambient cooling refers to the ability of an air conditioning or refrigeration system to operate efficiently and effectively even when the outdoor temperature falls below the optimal range (65°F).
Our go-to low ambient products are made by ‪@icmcontrols9960‬ We use the ICM333 with the temp sensor for 5 tons and under and we use an ICM 380 if the system is over 5 tons and/or has a micro channel condenser.

JCI P266....while expensive....is probably the best one out there for fan speed modulation. The carrier headmaster is also pretty good as well....i really like the carrier temp probe that is a circular clamp style.
Pro tip....use some thermal heat transfer paste too...gets a slightly better reading. A quick way to determine sleeve vs ball....a sleeve will have in and out play on the shaft...a ball won't

Carrier around here instructed us to replace the carrier motor master modules, as they dont work great in conditions below 40. Ill half to remember the thermal paste, that a great idea! I have a site with the JCI's they are a pain to set-up with the dip switches, but they do seem to work well.
