Watching you get hissed at and not get attacked in your videos helped me be more brave! I’ve become closer to a feral cat :) we aren’t on petting terms yet but we have made tons of progress and hang out close by :)

I understand the struggle... One of my cats hates having her nails trimmed, so I have to wait until she's asleep or getting groomed by my other cat... The hardest part is the thumb, it's always the longuest nail and it's so hard to reach!!!
just came to say this is the only technique i’ve ever done that worked! my kitty is sweet and lets me clip her nails when she’s sleeping but i’ve never been able to cut her nails when i want to without some assistance of someone else giving the tube! it took some maneuvering but i got it! the thumbs are still complicated but this is the best! thank you!!
Hey I'm glad it helped, it takes some getting used to but it works and gets the job done when you gotta do it alone. Over time they actually see it as a bonding thing! Good job!!
This will be interesting. It takes 2-3 people to clip the nails of our cat. Mostly he's just being dramatic and hissing, "scratching" us without using his claws and "biting" (=touching us with his teeth while drooling on us), but he's good at escaping.
Hell naw my cat throws an entire fit, becomes hard as a rock, screams, hisses, scratches. Shes a very sweet cat, loves cuddles and everything, but goes completely insane and ballistic when it comes to her nails.
I’ll be trying this method. My cat is very food motivated as well so it should work. We used to wait until he was either very tired or asleep to see we could get at least one paw. Then after a few times, he caught onto us and now sleeps underneath the bed. 😏

All right, this won’t work for me, my 13-year-old male Bengal cat is a curmudgeon, psychopath, and when you try to clip 1 claw you find out he’s got nine other feet full of chainsaws. I’ve even tried to get my cat high. I bought the cat hammocks from the pet store and they don’t work. If I could actually get my cat in one of those, I wouldn’t need one of those.
until I see someone actually get the hind legs I will continue to believe it is impossible. My cat loved the kitty crack, but not enough to stop trying to bite me. Two nails in a day is my record lol

Results WITH distraction treats: Clipped nails for cat Results WITHOUT distraction treats: Me having to shower to get the blood off, cat still with razor sharp claws, smirking at me. Might try to vary next time and use a dish of food as my cat devours treats VERY fast. Thank you! Edit: Also, MASSIVE difference even in just taking a millimetre or so off the front claws... HIGHLY recommended!

I didnt trim my cats back paws cause the front is easy but the back ones she hates being touched, now her talon/hook long nail caught her chin when she was scratching and left a nice little hole/gash. Clearly I need to trim the back ones but I'm not sure how to go about it, she does have extra toes but I imagine other cats have clawed them self by mistake as well. Any advice is much appreciated thanks.
Have you tried getting into the habit of touching it's hind legs from time to time? It good motivated try to feed treats or whatnot and push those boundaries and always end on a high note. Over time should improve
i have 4 kitties and 3 of them don't mind getting their claws trimmed (or at least they tolerate it) but one of my kitties absolutely despises it (you cannot hold her to trim) so I just wait until she is asleep and it usually takes a few days before they're all trimmed😅
My Stormy can be a little monster. Feral. However, I've figured out that if I only clip one or two at a time, I make more progress. When she comes up on me, I also play with her toes a lot. So every now and then I reach out of view and grab my clippers and snip one. Then the other night I realized I could actually play with her toes and slip my clipper around a nail and snip one, without having to manipulate her toes or even have to look at her nails. I can do it by touch 😮 I can do 2 or 3 at a time without Stormy realizing what is going on. But as soon as she feels something, the jig is up 👎
I don’t have the same treat for my cat and she starts biting or playing everytime I try to trim her nails or relax her first. So how do I get her to let me trim her nails?
I did, but nvm I got to trim her nails kinda. It just took me a long time to keep her calm while I massage her paws a bit and go for one nail each time. She seems to like other treats that I have and I tried that to see if she stayed calm. It worked a little, but it took me awhile to get her relaxed again. But Ty for the advice.
If not sharp then no need. But I just usually give it a tiny little trim sometimes as some of my kitties hind claws tend to hook up abs catches onto stuff and when they get chased by each other it sometimes causes injury

My finally straw was when he whacked me in the face to get my attention and nearly got my eye because his claws were so long, even when contracted. Lucky he missed but was inches away. Anyway, that was the last straw.
My cat won’t even get distracted I’ve tried everything tried to wrap her in a towel tried to hold her down tried treats .. nothing works she just won’t let me
I simply was trying to give my 7 month old kitty treats today for sitting in my lap on his back. It’s not going well. I tried to give treats while he was just laying there and still no deal lol.

Or you can wrap the cat in an towel and cut their nails. Simple and safe for you and the cat. And don't forget to give them a treat after and praise them.
This is laughable! You have NOT seen my cat!! I went to an animal hospital and took THREE nurses and ONE doctor to cut one paw before they gave up because of injuries from scratches and bites. The cat broke a cone and a blanket! They refused to take him again next time unless we drug him prior to coming. No Joke!
Hahaha, its impossible to do it alone, appreciate your attempt.... i do not recommend this, NEVER cut a cats nails alone!!! (unless you are a Vet and make it sleep). Doing this you will guaranteed make the cat bleed as you run out impatience (major pain that the cat will never forget and will in future be even harder to cut nails), this could take hours to do "safely" alone and doing the hindlegs will be impossible alone (hence why she didnt show it). Cats have nervendings in the nails, you can see them in the light and where to cut securely / safely without hurting the cat when another person holds the cat....
cat nails should NEVER be clipped !!! the cat gets rid of the old nail by clawing on tree bark or a cat tower indoors... this allows the new sharp nail to present itself until sheds - and the cycle repeats - cutting will ruin both the new nail and the sheath nail - and open the paw to infection - just let God's natural way alone !!!
@YouT00Bification Totally, when the claws get too long sometimes it can get real curved and catches on even carpet.... Sometimes cats can have an entire claw falling out coz of that~ You got it!

My cat has fur between her claws which make it difficult to see them and am too afraid if I'll cut her paw

Does he or she have a fav wet food? Try to turn that into a purée and squeeze it out ?

Feeding while cat is in his or her back prob isn't the most comfy position, that said have you tried other lures ?

Too much work for a single seasoned person to do, I take mine to the Vet for nail clipping.

That doesn't make sense... People don't want sharp claws on cats, that's the whole point of clipping them.
