My son and I had a lot of fun at our prerelease on Sunday. Immediately bought a booster box and the 2-player set. That should be enough for us to have fun with for a long time.
I'm thinking so!
I will be doing my 3rd Pre-Release event tonight. Here are my thoughts. The 6 pack closed format is incredibly fun and affordable. Draft is likely the same. That said I am totally out on the chase of a competitive deck, the cost and frustration of that chase is just not for me. I do plan to do weekly play at my store which will mostly consist of Closed and Draft formats. $30 every week or two is something I can justify but not the hundreds of dollars (or more) of booster boxes to build out a list or hunting singles isn't for me. All that and I don't trust FFG to be able to properly support a card game and keep it relavent long term. Fun game for now though.
I think the deck building aspect is over for me, too. That's the main reason I'm on the fence about playing the game. It looks fun, but do I want to go down that rabbit hole? Probably not.
I pulled a Luke Skywalker Legendary out of my Pre-Release box! Already loving this game.
Nice!
I did the same, except mine is hyperspace! I can't wait for my booster box to get here.
Thank you for covering the pre-release box. Very helpful.
7:36. This is the sound of honest gaming enthusiasm.
Ha ha it was a pretty cool moment!
It was great. My immediate thought was "We all know this feeling!"
The Lt. Childsen, 2x Maximun Firepower & the Heroic Sacrifice you named as Hyperspace, but they are not. Those are regular versions.
There are also fixed slots in a booster where you can get a Hyperspace card. The 9th (last) common, the 3rd uncommon slot (Can then have a rare+ also) and the foil slot. Plus the leader and common base can be Hyperspace.
Congrats on your Vader!
Yeah I'm still learning the variants - but when they have those lines reaching outward it made me think it was. Thanks for the tip!
still crazy to me that people unsub just because you cover certain games. there's always a vid or two covering something im not interested in, but honestly i even watch a lot of those just because i think youre a really funny guy. love watching even if i dont love the topic, keep doing what youre doing !!
the lines that appear without borderless art are (i think) just villainous/heroic frame elements. if a card has one of these it gets lines, and black or white sparkles to match
personally i'm, not a fan, the frames are already quite busy as is
Yeah Maximum firepower wasn’t the hyperspace
Love this! Thanks for covering this game, it’s ok if you don’t long term but I like the excitement for the launch. This is one I’ll be playing as a side game as I can play a game in under 30 mins unlike most of my games
I'm glad Im not the only one that was confused by hyperspace versions of cards!
In organizing my cards I figured out that the number in the bottom right can let you know for sure. Normal version has X/252 but the hyperspace versions have just a number and it's bigger than 252
I think one of the pluses is the packaging. I feel like the paper booster pack is easier to open for the player without worrying about potentially bending or damaging the cards inside. Probably also a bit more environmentally responsible than aluminized plastic as well. Also with any luck the paper packaging will hopefully be harder for scalping scammers to pull the old "open, swap the valuable cards for junk, reseal, and then resell" crap. Regardless, I will only be buying single packs from a trusted LGS and would only purchase sealed boxes of product online.
I've been extremely disappointed with this game. It doesn't feel like a game of strategy. It feels like a race to see who can get the biggest things out on the field and once that happens the game is over. The Star Wars license doesn't seem to have anything to do with the game, either, it's just pictures on cardboard, and while some of the art is good, some is shockingly bad. It's just not a pretty game to look at, much less collect, and I haven't found it fun to play. I tried a wide variety of decks and deck building and it always came out the same way: a race to board value and never mind any strategy you had in mind because there's no room for it in the frantic pace of the game.
I pulled a Chewbacca Showcase Leader from my prerelease box. Super surprised
Maximum firepower is not hyperspace variant you have pulled.
Some nice cards there. Hopefully this game catches on.
I have Destiny hesitation, but am pretty devo, that nowhere local to me is supporting it...
I loved Star Wars Destiny. With that game's death it makes me hesitant to pick this game up.
Seems like i just purchased the last deckbuilder game. What happened to that?
lol hearing the opinion about Resupply is hilarious since it is a standard in any deck running green.
I just miised my local stores showcase byt hopefully
I've just discovered the channel and it's a very pleasant surprise !
Keep up the good work !
Glad you enjoy it!
has boba fett leader -
guess I'm buying a box or two 😅
Looks fun but for me personally, it feels strange to go back to collectible card games now. Deck building games like Star Wars The Deck Building Game give me a great and complete card game experience in one single box, without pre-game deck construction or the addiction of booster packs. But hey I'm sure SW:U will sell a ton, it makes a lot of business sense.
Are the size of these cards "standard"? Will regular sleeves fit them or will we need to buy the special sleeves that Unlimited is selling?
Most standard sleeves should work
I'm going to buy a 2 player set!
Not a bad prerelease box! Nice! Love the game, been playing on forcetable for the last month and doing my first draft play ever this Saturday. Can't wait!
Darth Vader is my new Commander now lol
I have the 2 player starter and a booster box on the way I also ordered two prerelease kits that should also ship soon.
I’m probably going to play luke but idk what 3rd color I’m gonna use for him. Can’t wait to get these cards
Definitely looks interesting, but not sure I want to add another game, especially another card game. Also too soon to know if this will last. I’ll have to put some serious thought into it
I was a big fan of the Decipher card game. Other than that, I'm not a card game guy. But this looks pretty fun to me. I might give it a try. So far most people who play it seem to enjoy it.
Can't wait to get my preorder
Lovely art on these cards. I like the mix of cards per booster. I was hoping you would open more.
that Darth Vader card is nice..
I love unboxing videos
Nice video! I’m in the Winter Springs area, so, not far away!
Looks interesting
My family and I had so much fun at our LGS pre release event! We ordered a box and the starter set! We also each picked out a deck pod for each other lol
Got to attend a prerelease event last week and it was a blast! Already trying to figure out how I can get to more sealed or draft events!
Sadly, there was no Prerelease event near me but I hope to get my hands on a starter pack and play some game in a near future.
I’ve had a blast playing it. Already preordered my boxes
I’m hesitant to jump into another tcg but this one does look fun.
I collected the ccg from the ninties not sure ill get in on this to. Great unboxing though!
I may have to dip my toes into this and see if can get a friend hooked as well
Nice Unboxing of a top game!
The game looks fun. Much of the artwork is terrible.
lol, I feel like I’m going around YT defending the art so no offense. Give it a chance to grow on you as it has with me. For me, it’s the frame that seems jarring with the art style, which is why I like hyperspace so much. Fun game for sure.
Great :)
The game look great but card rarity and general looks dont give me any confidence in the future of the game. Hope it can take off and grow into more countries.
I'm liking the look of this game a lot and the guaranteed leader and base in every pack makes the individual packs seem way more valuable than say magic packs for casual players
