Love seeing more SWU content! The correct order of operations at the end of round is 1)Draw 2, 2)Resourse 1 (optional), 3)Ready up. Readying last signals to your opponent that you are done resourcing and ready to start the next round.
Thank you so much for streaming this. I haven’t seen your stream before but the production level is very high quality! Great camera angles and very clear on the mics. Well done.
Draft is 3 packs. You pull out the leaders and base first, draft the leaders then draft the other cards. You can use any 30 health base even if you don't get the one you want. The store will get a bunch in their package. 😃 Oh and decks are 30 cards in draft and sealed.
Played the starters with Stormstrong. We also did a mock sealed as outlined in the prerelease. It was a lot of fun, it certainly has different decision space that I need to get used to.
Played at the prerelease the other day and the game was pretty fun. It surprised me as I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I did. Looking forward to more videos on it.
I like the art, I like the nostalgic mechanics and systems in play, I like how short and simple the explanation is (it borrows so many things from known games, and the employed language helps a lot too, that any Card-gamer is ready to play), and I like the flow! But...... FFG / Star Wars. Anyway, I would like to formally request original L5R is played in the future!
Not sure if live chat corrected you, but you don't have to draft a base. They're like manna in Magic. You can always use one of the common bases from a generic stash at the store, in your collection, from packs that were opened, etc.
Can someone clarify Leia’s ability (at 21:20) he says you can “play her then exhaust likes ability shield her” I understood her ability to mean you could exhaust an (enemy) unit, not using the ability of another card. Wouldn’t this mean Leia’s ability also lets you use any other card you currently have “ready” to attack with or use an ability ?
I find the game interesting, deck building and mechanics. From the few videos I've see so far, it looks like it is very hard to turn the tide, I mean, mid game if you're screwed, you might aswell scoop, instead of keeping the agony on and on. I might be wrong tho. I still would like to give it a try myself.
I LOVED THE ONE FROM wizards, absolutely loved it, i will be very surprise if this can knock it of the horse cuz that was very innovative and original game mechanics as well and the win conditions were extremely swingy but in a good way, best tcg ever and i played a few so we will see...
Around 34:35 you exhausted your remaining 3 resources for Yoda. Then you deployed Luke because you controlled 6 resources. You then used Luke to attack the base but had no more resources to spend. Is that right? I don’t see how you can attack without the resources but I can’t find my answer in the rule book lol.
Its fun as a fan, doesn’t quite excite me like Magic the Gathering though. The Initiative token is weird in gameplay in my opinion. I don’t know how well its going to hold up over time. Seems like a pretty casual card game. I did love building decks though and seeing how events, units, leaders, and bases all lined up. If they released sets in the future with the Old Republic characters and locations for example Id be all for it
The back and forth actions just make so much more sense to me. Solid game and great explanations! Maybe a simple rules oversight from me but I didn’t think exhausted units could defend. I’ve got magic brain.
ah u mean MTG, yeah this game is much more interactive in many ways, players basically play instantaneously instead of waiting for eachother to keep up the flow and thats why the units are shooting at the same time actively instead of just one player being active at any given time...
There are some units with Sentinel that must be the target of an attack from their same zone if they are in play. Otherwise if your base is open and an attack is directed at it, you're taking the damage
Deckbuilding question I can’t seem to find the answer to. Do you know if I can I have a leader unit in the main deck beyond the one that sits with the base card? Played on its unit side of course.
just got it here in europe, the play sheets is better than average but i hate the unnecessary black borders, guess I'll just cut it w scissors and use magic tape, lol
Usually finding a store that hosts events near you is a good starting spot and just keep showing up and playing in events. Especially if they have product to support drafts. Dont expect to win much and just try to learn more about the game every time.
probably just seeing the one card left after resourcing. Its certainly possible it was an oversight though since this was literally the first time we played.
Just checked the comprehensive rules and confirmed! It'll def take some getting used to working around shields. If a unit has multiple Shield tokens attached to it, only one Shield token is defeated per instance of damage. -pg15
@@TabletopRoyaleis there any limits to how many shields a unit can have..? i mean if it makes some units impossible to defeat later on and kinda breaks or cripples the game doesn't it??
@@snxjsnsnjsiwnsjsosjsmmemsjsn There is no limit but in all our games so far I dont think we have seen more than 2-3 on a unit. It takes action/card economy to build up units like that.
I felt the same way when I heard the cards shuffled. It was like a kick in the gut with a bit of vertigo 😂 After playing MTG, I can never shuffle a deck of cards the same way again. Or play without some form of sleeves, for that matter.
this really breaks alot of this bad culture in tcg gaming about farming for the best cards and use sooooo much money to get those and then they have to ban, and the rich gets all the best cards etc, this is better, cuz its more like chess its not just about the cards u have but HOW u play them, WHEN u play them plus all the combos and potential synergies envolved , im very positive so far, also that the spaces cant attack eachother makes a lot of sense thematically as well, good stuff, but to not be able to shield the base seems a little off, just a little since u can shield the units...?
Uhh sorry guys im noob. So im play. Play cards, actions and no other options im claim initative so pass. Next round im first action again ,play cards etc and no other options again claim initative so stay with me. And this happen forever or what?
Taking initiative is an action even if you already have it. It counts as a pass but you cannot take further actions in the round. and Nathan will never stop flicking cards 🤣
Why are people so cautious of FFG when it comes to TCGs? I have only ever played their LCGs (Marvel Champions and LOTR) and a few board games of theirs that i enjoyed.
Where is your mic in relation to you? Your riffles pain me from a ‘please stop hurting the cards, they did nothing to you’ perspective (I riffle always, but not like that) but the sound kills me and you do it about 400 times! Warhammer Invasion video had me ready to punch you both through the screen, haha.
lol I mean maybe dont watch our stuff if it makes you want to punch us ;p We have lav mics on our chest so def close to the shuffle zone. the warhammer video was when we were using a single center mic though.
It's similar to claiming the battlefield in Star Wars Destiny. You have to weigh the benefits of going first in the next round to taking further actions in the current round. This could mean choosing to forego a few potential actions you could take in the current turn and I think it makes for some really interesting decision points. The best players will know exactly when it is important to claim initiative.
yeah...not a big fan of the art, its way to childy and cartoonish, i wish they gone w a more dark theme and colors like in legendary encounters alien and predator but, i get it they try to make money and get kids hooked as well...
Boy not only that but using the "bridge" shuffle method like that just over & over & over did as well it got to a point after the 2nd time it literally started to hurt physically like "yup, destroy those cards buddy, after all we're playing blackjack of course.... FFG is definitely the biggest worry factor with this game. Noted for original L5R if we ever do necromancy again. I think Nathan has cards from it.

Straight quality content here!
looks interesting...i mean the dynamics in this game is something else...nice to see some new mechanics and fresh air into the tcg genre...

Why at 01:00:00 Justin doesn't attack with all power Nathan's base, but wastes his turns in those all over power shields?
Justin is learning the game for the first time here :)
yeah i also thought he should have Focused more on attacking the base at that point or just before it, he got caught up it seems...like a trap

Are there cards that prevent damage to your base or do you have to take it on the chin every time?
There are some units with Sentinel that must be the target of an attack from their same zone if they are in play. Otherwise if your base is open and an attack is directed at it, you're taking the damage
Deckbuilding question I can’t seem to find the answer to. Do you know if I can I have a leader unit in the main deck beyond the one that sits with the base card? Played on its unit side of course.
No, leader cards can only be played as leaders
so basically any unit with sentinel or any source for one damage would have won the game for justin - that initiative system is pretty cool
just got it here in europe, the play sheets is better than average but i hate the unnecessary black borders, guess I'll just cut it w scissors and use magic tape, lol
Great gameplay! I’ve never been into TCG’s (as an adult) but this one definitely interests me! Any tips for getting into TCG’s as a newbie?

I hope they add cards from the prequel timeline
next set in a couple months is clone wars!
Justin draws just one card?
Justin was drawing one card for multiple rounds in the second game it looked like...?
probably just seeing the one card left after resourcing. Its certainly possible it was an oversight though since this was literally the first time we played.
Sounds a lot like Destiny, but I'm not sure if the more complex creature combat makes the game better
22:33 drop those beats, DJ! 😂
Hello from Ukraine. I think Luke Skywalker's deck is a bit stronger, don't you think so?
Never not bangers
Can you attack a card that’s not exhausted ?
yes indeed!
i think in dual masters u couldn't...😊
So fun to see you guys playing some SWU!! Game is great!! Draft is super fun too.
I just signed up for the pre release event at a local store - super freakin excited
How does one get a demo deck(s)? I played the demo yesterday and they made no mention of the decks, only the leader promos
In this case Nathan's store got 3 starter sets to use a demo decks
Are you sure about the double shield? I am pretty sure I saw somewhere that you can have multiple shields, but they all pop off when damaged.
Just checked the comprehensive rules and confirmed! It'll def take some getting used to working around shields.

The real reason we didnt sleeve them was because the card cam gets a glare with sleeved cards and we wanted to be able to show them off

i love that u can't use units automatically to shield the base...so u dont play them as shields but rather as independent units ,great...
Looks fun but why are u ruining the cards. 😂 easy on the shuffling!!!!!!
The cards are unharmed, dont worry. We are professionals ;)

Interesting playmat. The only one I saw was with a blue 🌌 background.
these are just the foldable paper ones that come in the 2 player starter
