“It matters what you define as ‘success’” yes a lot of people do NOT understand this.

Love the podcast but I saw this somewhere and I feel like we as women also need to take responsibility before we ask for rights and space. I feel in certain cases we just want to not be asked or questioned about anything but at the same time we want help and free childcare from grandparents and maybe financial help at times or rent free house (parents or in-laws house)
I grew up with my grandmother as my roommate and I feel it has taught me a lot of patience and like other side of the story.
I know there a lot of toxic parents and in-laws but how arrogant are we to question their parenting all the time without knowing how F’d up our parenting might end up being (God Forbid).
Also just food for thought, if we are still working to balance and manage our relationship with our parents, we should give some grace to the men as well. They might also be going through that learning curve.
Lastly, my husband calls his mother every morning and he always picks up her call and maybe they are emotionally very mature but they never talk about me or gossip, its just checking up on each other and I LOVE THAT. Seeing that, I have started calling my parents daily (its hardly a ten min call) and I never cancel their calls, instead I pick it up and let em know that I am busy and I’ll call back.
So we women also need to be open to learning good things from our parents as well as in-laws.
So what I am trying to say is as much as we emphasize on toxic in-laws and parents, maybe we should also emphasize on understanding them and being kind to them.
I am not trying to be mean or hurt anyone’s feelings, just trying to show another side.

Thanks for sharing that! And yes of course there are many things we can learn from our parents, inlaws, and spouses. Not everything is bad. We all have positives and negatives and we are all learning as we go. ❤️
