    What type of adaptor do you need to connect it to an iPad? And how do I connect the audio from the iPad to a mixing desk? Thanks.

    • @DIYMusic
      @DIYMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you need a lightning to USB adapter to connect the dongle to the ipad, and as far as connecting to a mixing desk I’d recommend recording on the ipad itself and then transferring the file over icloud or whatever… otherwise you’ll have to just use the headphone out, which is ok but not the best since it involves the headphone preamp-if you do that, just make sure to have the volume down 3 clicks from the top to avoid clipping

    • @neilkendall5499
      @neilkendall5499 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYMusic Thanks for the info! So what about using an iPad for live gigs - is outputting the audio via the headphone out the only way to do it in a live show, or can you get an audio interface for iPad that will do it better? Thanks.

    note: I discovered that the aftertouch is not remappable to anything useful like modulation--it just sits there like a lump existing but doesn't do anything else... as such, you either will need to be plugged into a sound generator that natively interprets channel aftertouch the way you want / is configurable to use it, or you will need a midi interpretation software like midipipe (on mac) or midiox / bome's midi translator (pc) to transform the aftertouch messages into modulation or whatever you want them to be

    Hey Mr. DIY, new subscriber here. Have you tried configuring MIDI split-key so you can have the drum pads play a different instrument from the key bed? It seems you should be able to map the pads with a splitter in the software. Most DAWs include a sampler instrument where you can split a keyboard. Not yet sure if the pads also hit the same keys as in the key bed though.

    • @DIYMusic
      @DIYMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      might be able to assign them to different midi channels, which would be the easiest way to get a multichannel module to play different sounds from it (like the korg module pro $20 add-on they just released)
