What's interesting is the fact that we don't have a fight. He sneak attack him while he was sleeping with a super powerful blow. I'd love to have another version where zenus actually block and fight back, would be the end of the world. And I'm also asking myself, since the hero (or his party, personally even the first time I played the game, I was alone) is stronger than corvus, doesn't it make him like the strongest being in the official dragon quest 9 world???
Well yes but actually no. His attack didn’t actually destroy the Almighty it kinda split him into several powerful pieces like Sir Sanguinus, Equinox, Excalipurr, ect.
The final boss theme of Dragon Quest 1 feels like an encouraging theme. After your long, hard-fought journey, the end is finally in sight. You've reached the end of the tunnel. And all that stands between you and the end of that tunnel is the final boss.
Battle in the heavens is still the absolute best, it's been over a decade and I _still_ get chills. That final battle is seared into my brain, what an absolute master piece.
It's a shame Dragonlord doesn't get more love. Sure, his theme is simple but its also quite intimidating when you realize it's one on one and he's very strong
1:05:17-1:20:21 As of Dragon Quest Illustrations, Nelgel and Madesagora’s localized names are Melou Nerugeru and Daimaou Madesagoura. Melou is from the old Habsburg motto “Destiny to rule the world”, showing that Nerugeru is ruling Astoila on Madesagoura’s behalf and having the first half of the DQX monster Army like Sham Hatwitches, Robber Rabbits, Peekabogres, Liege Lizards, Silver Swordsmen, Bodkin Bloodbows, Gaia Dragons (At the time a boss), Antiquitrees, Type G0s, Hat Hamwitches, Ham Shamwitches, Face Invaders, Lunar Chimeras, Rottontails, and other monster minions of Version 1 like Masqueradiers, Slimecicles, Octopots, Visor Kaisers, Snooty Slime Knights, 24-Carrot Bunicorns, & Bad Hares fight the Hero of DQX in Madesagoura’s and (Indirectly) Nadraga and Cronos’ steed.
one of my favorite things about these themes (predominantly 6 and 9 bc I'm played them the most) is that each theme has elements of the original battle theme hidden in them and it's kind of like a final hurrah in a way
Zoma is number 1. It feels like I am the hero saving the world from an unbeatable evil where I am making my own legend. Rhapthorne is number 2. I feel like I am also saving the world realizing a prophecy. Milly's fight is my number 3 simply because of nostalgia.
Rhaptorne's theme is one of the best themes i have ever heard, but ZOMA'S ONE!!!! The perfect theme for the final battle. It feels like you are really saving the world and this is the only chance. Simply a masterpiece
The effect of Zoma's battle music is even MORE intense if one has played the first two games. Those who have played those games will recognize the leitmotif in the theme immediately and understand its significance. The player is literally watching a legend being born. It's not only the best boss theme in the series, but one of the best in all of video games. Truly magnificent.
And the original NES version is best, I hate how they changed the time signatures on the remade tracks. They slowed them down, which decreases the tension you feel!
Yeah I very enjoy rhapthorne's final boss theme, and his melody in a lot of parts of the theme is very similar to " Heavenly Flight", the theme when you go in the sky with the godbird.
All of them are epic, but there’s only one boss track that made me actually fear for my life, and that title belongs to Lord Mortamor. Man, I felt like I was physically in danger the first time I got to the final phase and heard that. (Most epic goes to DQ11 version of Zoma, of COURSE. Corvus honorable mention.)
Dragon quest 3 final boss theme is of course heroic, it’s not zoma’s theme, it’s yours, which is why the remastered version is used in dragon quest ix after calasmos becomes able to be hurt, it’s not their fight to win, it’s your fight to lose.
Honestly I got to say some of these dudes have the most gnarly designs i have seen in a rpg villain. Mostly: Zoma, Psarro, Mortamor, Dhoulmagus, Madesagora, Fractos, Corvus and Xiphos.
Yoooo Do one thats only symphonic please (Btw ive been listening to the original Video for like 3 years or something its really dear to me. Thank you so much for that :) your the best!)
Relistening to this, and some of the spinoffs are REALLY underrated wow. _History Repeats_ is a bop, _Battle against Milly_ is great, and I really like _Moon, the Hocus Chimaera_ for some reason. It just has that weird feeling. As for the main games, _Demon Combat_ and _Those Who Desire Destruction_ are also VERY underrated. And well _The Hero's Challenge_ , _Battle in the Heavens_ and _The Time of the Decisive Battle_ are as good as always.
Spoilers: After listening to the Switch’s symphonic version of Zoma’s Theme in DQ11, there was a little extra bit added to the end of the loop. Makes it feel a but more special, I think.
1:23:48 Man, those final boss themes, starting with Nadraga r getting more and more darker. If Version 4's final boss is revealed, which I think would be behind all the crises the DQX World has been going through, then that boss's theme would have a very dark foreboding feel saying "Try and defeat me. If you don't, the past of the humans would be mine to rule, and Nelgel, Madesagora and Nadraga will be avenged!"
Nimzo25 I should mention that dqX final boss have death animation(Who give the last hit). Madesagora was killed as Ann-Lucia stab him to his death. Nadraga was slashed into half by the hero in the end
If I had to pick my top 3 final boss themes, it would be the Dragon Lord, Zoma, and Rhapthorne Dragon Lord due to how tense a one on one showdown can be Zoma since it basically is a final battle in history books. And do I need to say anything for Rhapthorne
I think the original DQ 1 or 3 have the best final battle themes. The more complicated ones in later soundtracks get too convoluted IMO. I prefer the stronger base melody.
Yes, he does have the same theme. Idk though, I kinda found Aamon to be a bit cheap with him spamming Magic burst every turn near the end. I always preferred Psaro’s 7 forms to Aamon’s 4.
Dq5 theme sounds proud with a hint of scary And to be honest It also sounds sad because he was a human once that mastered evolution so why did the gods punish him
Is there a video for just the DQX themes? Especially parts 3 and 4? I can't seem to find them on TH-cam, and I think they would be my favorite themes, were it not for zoma, rhapthore and psaro.
I don't know who this Milly is but I fondly remember the music during the battle against Snapped. MJ might be the soft compared to the main series but the final boss design is scarier even than Orgodemir or Mordragon
To be honest the dragon lord theme sound like he stomping straight to tangegel. And considering on his size in dqbuilders 1 it would probably kill everyo?

Given how Madesagora's plot was (SPOILER) to tear apart reality, and replace it with a mirage world he created, I'm pretty sure Souzou-shin translates to "Divine Creator." Just my two cents.
Justus White And Daimaou is the meaning for a greater evil, since Madesagoura is one of the dark powers beyond Nerugeru’s control, aka his Master. Corvus' theme is godly. No wait even higher than godly since he destroyed the Almighty!
Like a boss
What's interesting is the fact that we don't have a fight. He sneak attack him while he was sleeping with a super powerful blow. I'd love to have another version where zenus actually block and fight back, would be the end of the world. @@indeed2207 And Zenus splits into various grotto bosses which the hero also takes down. The hero truly is the most powerful in the series!
Well yes but actually no. His attack didn’t actually destroy the Almighty it kinda split him into several powerful pieces like Sir Sanguinus, Equinox, Excalipurr, ect.
Well DQ7 hero kinda did the exact same
The final boss theme of Dragon Quest 1 feels like an encouraging theme. After your long, hard-fought journey, the end is finally in sight. You've reached the end of the tunnel. And all that stands between you and the end of that tunnel is the final boss.
Personally saw it as dreadful and tense.

Even if I did, they'd probably be different for english, spanish and the other languages. =)
