Oh! The orchestra actually got the pacing of Zoma's theme right at the start! I noticed a BUNCH of games get that wrong! The SNES version imho is the best version of Zoma's theme, it's a much faster paced theme than it is in any other game.
I like how Estark's truly lets you KNOW that you're looking at the *King of The Monsters* even in the original version cause of how 'majestic' it sounds.
50:00 Technically, there’s more than one final boss in Dragon Quest X since Nelgel the Netherlord/Netherfiend isn’t the only main villain. There’s Maldragora, Nadraga, Kyronos, Jagonuba, and his dad, Jia Red Genos.
Correction on the segments: Estark is a midway boss in DQ4. Well okay, further than midway, but if you considered Baramos to be midway in DW3, Estark is at around the same spot storyline wise. The post-game boss in DQ4 is Aamon / Astaroth. Also, Nokturnus doesn't use the final boss fight music in DQ6, but rather the normal boss fight music. However, if you took your cues from DQ9 and its post-game content, which I believe you may have done, I can understand the confusion.
Haven’t gotten really far (only just beat Rank G in the Maulosseum. Rank F in Endor was nail-bitingly close, but I pulled through on my first try), but I guess that makes sense.
I noticed a mistake : you put the theme "Monsters" (regular boss) instead of "Brave Fight" for Murdaw's theme ! But nonetheless, thanks for the video !
I think it's correct actually - I've never played DQ6 to be fair, but he's only the midway boss of that game so the normal boss theme plays. The final theme is saved for Mortamor & Nokturnus
@@ZakGoble I've played DQ VI and you can check it : Brave Fight is a theme made only for Murdaw. Also, you have to play DQVI ! The sprite animations are fantastic on the DS !
@@ZakGoble Let me clarify: the first Murdaw fight, in the dream world, uses the normal boss fight music. The true Murdaw fight, in the real world, uses Brave Fight. And as I've stated previously, Nokturnus doesn't use the Mortamor battle music, but rather the normal boss music.
I never understood why Estark was originally blue in his first encounter, yet his more iconic brown/orange everywhere else. Maybe it was just really cold for him down in that mine?
He's the post-game boss of DQ6. In the Super Famicon translated version of the game he was known as Dark Dream, and in the GB Monster games, he was Darkdrium.
In my opinion, the bosses after Rhapthorne doesn't have a cool character design. Corvus is kinda meh, the guy from dragon quest 10 is hot garbage and the Mordagon isn't good at all. Calasmos looks btw like a fusion between Cell and fat Jiren from Dragonball.
Corvus’ theme is built different
His and Zoma’s fr though! Honestly wish more of the final boss themes got to their level or higher.
The use of the overture motif in his theme is just sooooo damn good
Rhapthorne's theme goes hard
Zoma's theme will always be the best in my eyes.

For those wondering, after you get rid of Calasmos' Shroud of Shadows, his battle theme just goes back to a remix of Hero's Challenge from DQ3.
Thank The Goddess it does, Zoma's theme slaps
@@ZakGoblefr, all the final boss themes are awesome but Zoma's theme has to be one of the best

He went hard for all these. It's almost a shame you need to reach end game to hear them but on the other hand it's a good reward.
Especially in the NES games, the unique music for bosses (and the credit theme) is always a huge treat.
Murdaws theme hits HARD. This is deff the best iteration of it

Fun fact: Estark's theme is re-used in Dragon Quest monsters: The dark prince when you battle against final boss.

Raphtorne is the best

thank you for the orchestral mix!
Where did you find or make these orchestral remixes please? Also thanks for these!

Thanks! @@ZakGoble

Isn’t the brown one Psaro?
The brown one is a completely different monster from Estark. It's Psaro's manslayer form.
17:50 Damn those blistering flames.
43:23 theres no beating rhapthornes boss music
Heavenly Flight in final boss form
They really nailed it there
Corvus theme in ds is much better than the ORCHESTRAL
Wait who is nokturnus did I miss something

To each their own i like most of them personally
Saying Corvus design is meh when Rhapthorne is just a fatass balloon is kinda wild
@@sag2057 He was just a green demon with wings, Rhapthorne was ugly, but unique too. I love unique designs
