    I really didn't like the whole ancient technology motif they leaned so hard into, nor was I crazy about having 120+ puzzle shrines over some larger traditional dungeons, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't derive hours and hours of enjoyment from both games. What hooked me hard was finally getting back that freedom of exploration and showing me a world that really captured the spirit of what I imagined Hyrule to be at a grander scale as a kid when I played the original Legend of Zelda in the 80s. While that one will always be my favorite, I dare say BotW & ToTK have easily moved into my top 5 for the series.

      Yeah I agree about the dungeons and overworld. Personally I like shrines existing, but in addition, I do still want the old meaty dungeons of Twilight Princess back in the series

      Yeah, BotW and TotK have their issues...But I kind of agree with this, I haven't felt this form of exploration with the series since the first entry and the gameplay loop of BotW/TotK is a lot of fun. Nintendo said that they're done with the BotW world but not done with the open air formula and that formula is going to be what they use going forward. Let's see how the dungeons go as this formula progresses, TotK was a step in the right direction but I feel they could've done more. I feel OoT's Water Temple would be a good template for dungeons in a BotW/TotK style game. Still semi open but not open enough to crack right open (though I don't mind cracking dungeons and shrines right open...I kind of like that anything I can think of could possibly work).

      @@chooongusbug724 as someone who is a huge fan of the Water Temple, I fully agree. It was more in a Metroidvania kinda exploration. If the idea of making more Metroidvania like dungeons takes hold, I think that would be a perfect fit for these Open Zeldas

      @@TheObsessiveGamer I think a mix of Water Temple from OoT and (I don't know if you have played it yet) TotK's Construct Factory. OoT's Water Temple for reasons we both said (also good point on the Metroidvania feel of Water Temple, never thought of it like that) and Construct Factory because that had interesting problem solving type puzzles. The build up to each dungeon from TotK? Keep that, getting to Wind Temple or doing Mineru's quest was peak gaming IMO

      @@chooongusbug724 Hyrule Castle in BotW is really what I'd like to see more of for dungeons in the future, it was easily my favorite part of the game. That specifically felt like a direct connection to dungeon design from the original Zelda. No puzzles, just navigate to the goal and survive.

    I now wish we could've made Lurelin Village into the one in the concept art in Tears of the Kingdom.

    I just wanted to mention that Tears of the Kingdom has become quite popular lately. Also, have you heard about the leaked beta for Superstar Saga? It reveals a lot about the game, including unused NPCs and enemies, as well as some interesting stories about the game's lore, such as Cackletta being related to Queen Bean as her little sister.

    I just hope botw's success doesn't encourage them to just do botw over again, since myself and many others are absolutely fatigued with korok seeds, shrines and bad dungeons.
    The problem with a lot of botw/totks designs is that they are big for the sake of being big rather than feeling complete in the areas that need it, the scope is too large basically.
    Like with twilight princess they perfected horse movement, they wanted the place to be ridable, and while there are complaints that hyrule field is too empty, no one has any problem with riding the horse through it snd enjoying the movement that it was built around. Then you get to botw and they tried to make horses fun but the world is in no way built for horse movement, the horse gets caught on pebbles, suicides off of bridges and will sometimes randomly leap off of a piece of invisible geometry, this could've been fixed if they downsized the world a bit and put their attention on optimizing it for horse movement but they couldn't because there were a million other half baked ideas they needed to make presentable enough to wow the player before the player gets disappointed by how shallow it is.
    If the field in twilight princess was too big and the ocean in wind waker was too empty, then botw/totk is very very much both of those in every possible way, and i hope the devs learned that moving forward.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer
      @TheObsessiveGamer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't mind the shrines and Koroks since they fill out what would be an empty field otherwise (and they are optional).
      Dungeons I fully agree. I want fully fleshed out Dungeons like in Twilight Princess. I seriously miss those.
      Personally I feel if they take the best of both worlds, we could get a truly worthy new game on Switch 2

      I like doing the shrines whether it was a puzzle shrine or test of strength... (I more favored the puzzle shrines; Rather than the fighting ones...)
      My main goal with Koroks seeds is to find them as I go and to get enough to max each respective inventory!

    Nintendo should refrain from those "tech demos" as it is only seen as misleading, not to mention, why confuse your fans and bewilder them with possibilities rather than something more solidified? Seems they have learned their lesson, or hopefully.
