Movies, videogames, music and the whole mainstream media and culture has gotten worse and worse, even technically, because the consumer, the public, is getting dumber every day.
Johnny doesn't like delivering a line or doing a scene exactly the same way twice. It keep the scene fresh and spontaneous. One notable line from the first movie was the addition of, "...from my back" to the bit where he says he made the rope from human hair. The members of Jack's crew had to hide our faces any number of times to keep from spoiling a shot by laughing.
JD is a genius and hilarious, I wouldn't be surprised to find out half or more of his lines were either improvised or improved from the original by him in the moment while shooting. lol
Someone’s probably already explained it but basically - Beckett tasked Jack with the job of transporting cargo, which turned out to be 100 slaves. This didn’t sit well with Jack and he decided to free them. That earned him the Pirate brand and Beckett had Jack’s ship ‘The Wicked Wench’ set alight and sunk. Jack then made a deal with Davy Jones to raise her from the depths, and he renamed her The Black Pearl after her now charred and blackened hull. The ‘100 souls’ that Jones demanded as payment was referring back to the slaves Jack freed. Davy Jones’ CGI is still amazing to this day !! I’m gonna say it- Norrington got 10 times hotter when his life fell apart and he found himself on that ship 😂 The rum is gone !
I was debating talking about that for this film or the next. Without giving spoilers, there is an outtake of the next film talking about liberating cargo and Jack's response is, "people aren't cargo"
@@kulengo8600 Very true- I wasn’t sure if Alex would be watching the outtakes, nor was I sure if this was a proper spoiler since it’s sort of juicy backstory stuff
To think that this movie came out in 2006 and the cgi still holds much better than a lot of movies from today. Davy Jones' crew really was peak character design.
@@cmudd9788 I think Davy Jones was entirely cgi. You can see the actor on his gray mocap suit in the bloopers and making of. They just had an insanely good animation team. Giving a standing ovation at the cinema is something very unlikely here in The Netherlands, and yet I experienced it twice; once at the end of Lord of the Rings - Return of the King, and once at the end of Dead Man's Chest. People applauded and hooted at Barbossa's reveal. So yes, this was a very special moment in cinematic history!
17:04 - The black spot in Jack's hand was a kind of "beacon" that the Kraken follows. When Davy Jones gave Jack three days to gather 100 souls, he removed the black spot to make the Kraken temporarily stop following Jack.
Bill didn’t abandon Will. He was against Barbosa for the mutiny, they strapped a canon on him and dropped him into the ocean, then Davy Jones found him and he was in servitude to him since then. Being with Will wasn’t an option.
In the movie with salazar youl see young sparrow, a young cptn teague somebody who might look like barbossa And some say bootleg bill got his name as jack shouted prepare the bootleg. Its just an theory not 100% But its possible that jack and all the others know each other since child age cause it was common in theese times that even child were pirates.@@aubryellaotero1064
@aubryellaotero1064 is that what they're notoriously known for? I thought it was the swashbuckling and thievery and the big wooden ships and treasure. But I guess not. From now on when I think pirate, I'll think lack of parental instincts like everyone else does. Thanks for the education.
*"So tell me... What has become of my ship?!"* still sends shivers down my spine, bro! I was super excited to see Barbossa, at least until I found out that THE RUM IS GONE!
Don't know if someone explained this or if you figured it out, but when Norrington was grabbing the pardon from the boat during the fight, he noticed that some dirt had been spilled out of the jar and figured out that Jack put the heart in it and grabbed the heart, too.
Barbossa was actually in the movie earlier than the reveal. When Tia Dalma released Jack the monkey, he immediately headed upstairs. For a brief moment, you can see Barbossa's boots on the bed laying down and the monkey jumps up on him. I also think that his hat is downstairs and Jack(or Will) picks it up. Tia Dalma has the same music locket that Davy Jones has alluding to them being former lovers(his heart as it were).
@@yusted1 Good Lord... If chaining someone to the wall to their death is "Making out". Don't want to know about sex! I was thinking she murdered Jack right in front of Will. Just forgot to explain it... It was, Him or Us, I made the call, let go.
Fun fact that most people dont realise is that theres a reason for jacks run being the way it is on land, hes got sea legs hes used to a moving ship and so he is fighting the rock of a ship but when hes on land hes the only thing moving, you will notice when hes on a boat and it's rocking jack is able walk perfectly fine
I like to think Ragetti (one-eyed pirate) was outgrowing his habit of repeating what his friend says and becoming more outspoken in this movie, but then the Kraken scared him so much that he regressed.
The 3rd one is my favorite! Can't wait for you to watch it! Also when Norrington swiped the pardon papers in the row boat, he noticed the dirt on the boat and realized Jack hid the heart in the jar of dirt. That's when he got it. And another thing is that someone explained that Will learned piracy from Jack in the first and 2nd movie, but Elizabeth learned piracy from Barbosa. That is why she is so cut throat and strategic in her plans
Davy Jones is played by Bill Nighy. He's brilliant! You've seen him briefly in Harry Potter, he was the minister for magic in movie 7 and gave Harry and friends their inheritance from Dumbledore's will. He's also in Love Actually as the rocktstar guy if you've seen that. And if you haven't seen that PUT IT ON THE LIST FOR CHRISTMAS it's a freakin classic at this point. Stacked cast!
Dead man's chest and At world's end are my absolute favourite one's out of the franchise. Davy Jones is such a strong character, Bill Nighy did an amazing job by playing him. Also, loved that they brought back Barbossa, he brings so much more depth to these movies. Can't wait for the next movie commentary.🤩
I'M SO STOKED YOU'RE WATCHING ALL OF THEM! I LOVE THESE FREAKIN MOVIES SO MUCH MAN. That Barbosa twist in the end still rocks me to this day, bro these movies are amazing.
This is possibly one of the best sequels ever made alongside Shrek 2. The worldbuilding happens in the first movie, and lets this one just tell and absolutely epic story. The way this one plays out genuinely feels like an legend passed down by sailors- and the scene where the Kraken is introduced for the first time has one of the best scores I've ever heard, as well as Davy Jones' organ theme. I've seen this movie so many times and it never fails to give me absolute chills.
Davy Jones has the best CGI I have ever seen for any character. I hope you get around to reacting to The Lord of the Rings (extended version) if you haven't seen them.
@@Miss_MythThe Lord of the Rings is the highest rated franchise of all time according to the aggregated scores on Metacritic. Well, it's either that or Toy Story, can't remember which order but those are the top 2. Edit: I wasn't intending to imply you said otherwise, just agreeing with you that that guy is either a bad troll or just in the 1% of people whose opinions are wrong.
Don't know if it's been posted here or on Patreon, but Barbosa coming down the stairs was a surprise, the actors didn't know who was coming down so their reactions seeing him were genuine, I always loved that tidbit of knowledge lol 🖤 can't wait for A.W.E!
Worst part is, the scene with him falling through all the bridges and landing unscathed is one of the less unlikely scenes in the movie. A construction worker in my town back in the 80's or something fell off the roof of an apartment complex and went through several thin sheets of dried concrete, and landed unscathed. Concrete saved him, same way enough wooden bridges might!
it's like felling off a plane, your chance of survival are very thin, but depending on how you fell it's definitly possible, if you fell into tree or something similar, your chance of survival greatly increase
Yeah it’s the same reason why if your in series high speed crash (like race cars or F1) if you flip and spin your less likely to die than if you just straight crashed into a wall or rail. Momentum is super interesting.
I think that this one is my favorite out of the trilogy storyline. The third movie is incredibly epic but something about the bright colors of the cannibal island just does it for me. This one also includes one of my favorite fight scenes, that being the water wheel fight, which (if i recall correctly) was done practically! or at least mostly practical. a giant wheel rig was built. A couple quick notes about the branding and also the dental hygiene. Criminals of all kinds were usually branded based on what crime they committed because you couldn't cover it up easily. So when Beckett (the curly wig trading company guy) said he and jack had left their marks on each other, yes it was a brand. Jack used to work for Beckett (the East India Trading Company). Beckett tasked jack with transporting slaves (100 of them) but instead jack set them free, which made him a pirate for defying orders (so when everyone keeps saying that jack is the worst pirate ever, it is because he did the most un-pirate like thing but setting people free). Onto the dental hygiene and why everyone has rank teeth! Its scurvy or the early stages of scurvy. Heres the kicker though, at one point they DID in fact figure out that carrying citrus on board (usually oranges) would stave off the scurvy while at sea and they could seek better treatment or nutrition once at port. However! like a century or so passed (pirating started in the 1500s ish and went until like the mid 1800s ish) and everyone was like "why the heck do we have so many oranges on board?? it takes up so much space! lets ditch the oranges to carry more loot" and then scurvy came back. Why does the tentacle slime take away the black spot? The black spot is essentially a beacon for Davy Jones. Makes you easier for him to find. Jones took away the spot to give jack a bit more time to gather the souls he owed, but once he learned that jack had betrayed him by giving knowledge of the key to his heart to Will, the spot quickly returned so Jones could hunt jack down. I cannot wait for your reaction to the ending of this first story arc because it is heart wrenchingly good!
When the Kraken snaps that ship in half, "This is insane how did they shoot this?" Well, it was a good mix of practical effects and CGI. For the practical bit they actually snapped that ship in half by letting two enormous pontoons filled with cement fall on the middle of it. They were painted blue so as to be easlily edited out and replaced with the CGI tentacles in post.
I love that they shot that practically. They put them all in giant cages suspended from huge ass cranes and swung them back amd forth. So very genuine reactions.
Interesting fact: The actors in that final scene didn't actually know that Barbosa was returning. That scene is their real reaction to seeing him come down those stairs and back!
Alex, please never change. I always loved your music reactions but your movie ones are a new level of great. Always make me laugh. Absolutely some of my fav content on TH-cam.
The fact that you figured out the whole premise of Jack and Jones' deal is very impressive considering many reactors do not figure it out. BUT you did fumble with the very simple black spot aspect and that just made me wheeze xD
This trilogy is legendary. Even now in 2024 still aged really well. People back then knew how to make actually entertaining journeys and stories to watch.
Random personal fun fact, my dad actually used to know and work with the witch lady in this movie, 13:45, in a show when they were both younger called Runaway Bay, he did not continue to pursue his acting career while she did, eventually getting her role in this movie
This film and the next really made me empathize with Mr. Jones. Love is a cruel mistress, and often times makes no logical sense. It's a cautionary lesson that the callous spectrum of love can even outweigh it's beautiful enveloping counterparts. It's also a huge parallel that synergizes with the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and the Observer effect. Which basically equates "anything you observe you end up changing it." In this case it's about love. We can't love something without changing it. Even if we knew all of the prerequisites, if we magically gained omnipotent knowledge and took steadfast action to stop changing something. The byproduct of us trying not to change the thing we love, changes it. It's a weird paradox that we destroy, change, consume, and edit anything and everything that we love. We can't not take pictures, take a keepsake, build a road to it, build a bridge across it, damn it up, marry it, take a piece of it home with you, touch it, feel it, taste it, smell it. It's a universal constant that we change whatever it is we love, be it for the better or worse, be it conscious or unconscious. Somehow we end up changing everything that we love, admire, respect, and long for. And if Calypso had been faithful and stayed true to her words and returned after 10 years to show Davey love again... she would have never of been herself, as free and as chaotic as the Ocean. It's a brutally honest love story about trying to change some one when you should just love them for what/who they are. Poor Davey Jones, the shear poetry of a man who can't die carving out his own heart for fear of the woman who tortured it. And now instead of ferrying souls to the under-verse he now keeps them for himself. Dark dark poetry.
I gotta say, the movies do start out the best and get worse as you go. But the first 3 all have some awesome moments….. The “what has become of my ship” at the end had me so hyped for the 3rd one
As mentioned on the previous Pirates reaction, I absolutely love this movie! This movie felt like a mix of adventure and horror in my opinion. I can still remember seeing this movie (which happened be my first Pirates of the Carribean movie) on the day when it came out back in 2006 and I was scared out of my mind. I was eight years old when I first saw that movie too. xD I felt like this movie is like a jump start for my love to learn of the mythologies from the sea and my introduction to watch horror movies, haha. I look forward to the next reaction to 'At World's End' and my second favorite Pirates of the Carribean movie, 'On Stranger Tides'!
Think they filmed this around St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Even had one of the prop ships of the Pearl in full size. They really went full tilt by the time the first one made bank.
The 3rd fil. Was the most expensive ever made at the time... by a wide margin. And it more than made it all back. I really wish Disney was willing to take chances on novel ideas again. The first had a reasonable budget and used it extremely well. And Disney was basically printing money with the Pirates brand.
Here I am with covid for the 4th time feeling like absolute shit wanting something chill to watch and here you are with a new video when I needed it most. Thanks Alex.
When they first get to Tia Dalma’s hut, there is a brief shot of Barbosa’s boots that most miss so she was already working on bringing him back. Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp are the best pirates hands down. Jack’s walk is to help him keep his sea legs when on land and some of his moves are a tribute to Keith Richards from the Stones.
The 3rd movie is definitely the best in the whole series. The amount of incredibly smart plot twists makes you on your toes the whole movie. It's also very funny
Old video but not only was the "jar of dirt" scene improvised none of the crew were told bout Barbosa's return so their surprised reaction to him coming down the stairs is legit as well
For anybody who is always praising the first movie to be the best. I have been studying 1-3 and I constantly re-watch them. Pirates of the Caribbean does not go downhill in writing after the first movie. That is your business to believe that opinion everyone else goes with. Dead man’s chest gave the characters more depth! Elizabeth and William barely have anything to work with in the first movie. William’s relationship with his father that was hinted in the first movie of his father‘s existence. Paid off wonderfully. William’s character had way more in depth now and you have something to truly care about him for. You get both perspectives when you understand their Reunion! Bootstrap didn’t want Will to become a pirate like him, he wanted him to have a free life from the pirate life. William had a hard time accepting he was half Pirate but when he accepted his life and his father… He has a new journey to stab the heart of Davy Jones to set his father free. And you’re implying William is better in the first movie just because he wanted to save the girl he loved? William in the second movie now has Elizabeth as a lover. And now a new journey to rescue his father someone else he cares about. And this became a difficult situation when bootstrap told Elizabeth at world‘s end. William has to make a decision. Either don’t kill Davy Jones so he can be with you. Or he does kill Davy Jones and set me free, but he won’t be able to be on land for 10 years. If I were him I wouldn’t pick me! :/ The emotional weight on William’s character gets better and better. Elizabeth in the first movie was just a damsel in distress girl. She wasn’t useless in the first movie but you get the point. In the second movie, Elizabeth learned to wield a sword and she used it in the battle. She pulled a gun to Beckett‘s head.. went on her own journey to save will. She has grown a lot since the first movie who was just an innocent girl! Elizabeth got better as a character in 2 and 3! As for Jack sparrow. He does not become a joke at all in all 3 movies. Jack sparrow is at his best in the second movie and in the third movie. There was a moment in dead men’s chest… Where Jack didn’t know what he truly wanted so the compass couldn’t locate what he desired. So when Elizabeth went on her journey and then found Jack.. Jack used her for his advantage! He took advantage of Elizabeth’s feelings by telling her if you want to save Will you have to want to find the chest of Davy Jones! In order to get will back.. That’s why Jack gave her the compass. Jack knew if he couldn’t figure what he wanted out he was going to get it out of Elizabeth. Since Elizabeth now wants to find the chest of Davy Jones to save will. This gives Jack the huge opportunity to find the chest to stab the heart in it. But instead he wants to control DavyJones before killing him. Jack sparrow is not stupid! When will was trying to stab the heart towards the end of the second movie. Jack knows just because Davy Jones is dead, does not mean the Kraken will be stopped as well. And you’re telling me Jack is dumb after part 1?? As for Beckett. He was a well executed villain who uses dialogue and negotiation to control people. The Reason why Beckett didn’t fire his cannons at worlds end. Was because it would be totally out of his character to use weapons. Beckett uses certain words to get through people and how to control them behind the scenes. Beckett at the end of the movie had nothing left to negotiate with. Davy Jones was dead, Jack sparrow is alive and well. Will Turner is now the new captain of the Flying Dutchman. Beckett had literally nothing to use against on people. He was caught in shocked and he decided to die.. Anyways I could defend the Gore Verbinski’s Trilogy all night. His trilogy is an underrated trilogy. It had great character writing and amazing detail of its depth. Also Will vs Davy Jones!!! 😈😈😈 when Will challenging Davy Jones. Davy Jones asks him how do you know about the key? Will replies and says, that's NOT part of the game is it? 😏 You can STILL walk away!! 😏 As for pirates 4/5 they are not even Canon they are filler movies. The story ended at worlds end! ☠️
I agree with you totally. The first three movies of Pirates tell a complete story. Everything makes sense, every character arc, every decision, every set up, every payoff... its all there. The second and third movies do expand the world a lot, and the story becomes more interesting and intricate. The 4th and 5th don't have nowhere near the amount of world-building and carefully planned details as the original trilogy. Everything felt so purposeful. It's a shame no one could reach that level of quality in this franchise ever again.
Best part of these videos is Alex reacting to a scene, then adding something that didn’t even happen, then reacting to what he said like it actually happened. Just too much fun! Keep it up
Fun fact: when this movie came out it was the fourth most grossing movie of all times, after Titanic, Jurassic Park and the third LoTR. This is just how good it is.
I think it’s safe to say this is the best reaction channel on TH-cam, you play the best clips and you don’t just talk over the whole clip like others do and you’re fucking hilarious as well. You’re crushing it man
Fun fact the most of the movie especially that beach scene where the creatures rose up was filmed in my home country Jamaica 🇯🇲 (Port Royal) and other Caribbean islands. I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS TOO YOUR SO FUNNY
The second Pirates movie was shot in St. Vincent, Domenica, and Isla de Cruces. Also many people don't get that Johnny Depp was very committed to the role of Jack even in his walk. Captain Jack Sparrow is a true pirate he has sea legs all the way...get it ARGHHH lol. For those who don't get it he walks like he's always on a moving ship lol.
I’d like to explain the dice game for you, as good as I can. They were 3 people playing the game Each players starts with 4 dices. Every number is just a number, except for number 1, it counts as a joker. When Davy jones calls in for 7 fives, he believes that out of all 12 dices, 7 of them shows the number “5” Will calls in for 8 fives. For every persons turn, you have to raise the amount of eyes on the dice or raise the amounts of dices for a specific number like Davy jones and will did. You can never lower the amounts of dices or the amount of eyes. If you think someone is lying, you lift your cup and counts the dices/eyes, if u are right, you get to remove a dice from your cup. If you are wrong, the person you think is lying, gets to remove a dice from their pile. When you are out of dices u win the game. The game is called cheat in Denmark (where I’m from) The game is really fun, but can be a bit confusing. I hope the rules made sense, I did my best to explain them
I have no idea why it brings me such joy that all of these characters are constantly double crossing each other and getting into these epic fights, but they don’t take it personally and afterwards they’re just like “eh, we’re cool” and they’re still friends. It’s so weird but so adorable and hilarious and I love it so much.
Commodore norington is actual a quality character! The guy wanted the compass, to find the key, to find the heart, the commodore got straight to the heart and even had a pardon ready. Absolute unit that man is.
These movies were so popular at the time so the Barbosa tease at the end I remember the theater cheering, I love this movie though! The cgi for Davy Jones is still incredible!
The first 3 movies are amazing. After the success of the first one they shot the second and the third together. Insane production on location ( Dominican Republic ) for a movie with so many extras all in costumes and a lot of scenes on the water ( especially in the next movie ). I highly recommend to buy the BR only for the extra material its mindblowing.
I always considered part two to be the superior story then the first original film. The character writing has more depth and material to get to them. ☠️☠️☠️

"The rum is gone." is the furthest Jack Sparrow could explain before being slapped. The blow, turning his head nearly 180 degrees and giving him quite the crick in his neck. Not to mention being so violent and forceful it drove him back two steps tipping him over a trough directly into a pig's pen. Scarlett turned away, and throwing her hair back she remarked. "Ah, some company at last you have; some fitted company to keep you some fitted company." "You know." Jack Slurred, being nuzzled by a pig, " that sentence doesn't really make all that much sense." Scarlett scoffed, and not looking back she walked away down the lane. "But at least," Jack thought, "I have a view." watching her swaying hips as she traced her hand along the chests of other prospects she past on the way back to her brothel, brazenly showing off her charms. "She may be crazy," Jack thought, "But It's better if she doesn't know how mad my mind has become." Putting Scarlett out of his mind he suddenly thought, "I suppose I should make a trip back to the island. At least I'll always know rum will be there." Shaking his head, he tried to stand up slipping and tripping over the pot bellied pig beside him and falling into the mud again. "Damn, I really should come up with a better story of how I escaped that island than the truth." He said, shaking the mud from his hands. "That just isn't how the 'Great Captain Jack Sparrow' would do it, now is it?" looking over to the the pig for any confirmation, and only getting a grunt from the beast. His thoughts were interrupted by two passerby's. Drunk off the nights festivities. "Port Royal is the safest place in all the Caribbean, you can mark my words." The first man said; accenting his words by a loud fart which made Sparrows residence in the pig pen just that much more delightful. " 'The safest' just means eventually a lax in guard." His companion scoffed. "Then you'll just have easier loot for the taking." Drunkenly grabbing his companion around the shoulder, "Get a crew of savages smart enough or crazy enough and you might just make off with more wealth than anyone would even know what to do with." Shoving him off, the first man laughed walking down the alley. "Now wait." the second man yelled chasing after his companion, "This will actually make sense if your stupid head could wrap around the idea." As the two men passed out of ear shot a thought went through Jack's head. 'A crew smart enough, or crazy enough?' He sat up straight patting the head of the pig beside him. "now why would you need a whole crew when you have both of these qualities in one Captain? He stood up straight shaking off the rest of the muck from the pig pen and pulled out a compass from a hidden pocket in his jacket. He jumped over the wall of the pen and set off down the road and when his pig companion began to screech after him. Captain Jack turned and said, "Do not fear my pre baconed friend, I'm off for now but I may return." Captain Jack sighed looking down at his compass. "There is one truth out there. One that can't be overruled by betrayers, mutineers, or even friends." He slammed closed the compass and tucked it away. "There is no treasure that can hide from a Pirate Lord."
I remember Johnny Depp saying he made these movies originally because he'd made primarily ones for adults, and he wanted something his kids could watch. Now he goes to children's hospitals dressed as Jack Sparrow. He was at the one in my hometown a few years ago in Vancouver, Canada. There's a video of it online.
And best, he doesn't it for free, not for publicity, news, or fame. Johnny Depp truely is on the few best people found in Hollywood. Wish there were many more like him.
Watched this in the theater. The Barbosa reveal to that crowd was electric! Everyone was walking out afterwards yelling about their goosebumps they still had. Such an amazing memory of my childhood.
The best thing about this movie and its next-in-line sequel imo is the music, the davy jones theme and the one playing when the Kraken smashes the merchant ship are just so amazing
The commodore took the heart at the same time he took the pardon, you see him look down at the jar of dirt, and see that some of the dirt was taken out, and he put two and two together to realize the heart was in the jar of dirt.
I still love the end scene of this movie - awesome reveal of Barbosa with his dialogue, monkey's tilting head and to top it all, the peak hanz zimmer music. Perfect recipe for goosebumps.
Not sure if you're familiar with the actor that plays Davy Jones, Bill Nighy, but he was also the Minister of Magic in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 that delivered Dumbledore's will to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Fun fact, the director hid the identity of who the captain at the end would be (they were told it was a different returning character). When barbosa reveals himself, the crew'a reaction was genuine as that was the actors genuine reaction, as it was the first time they learned barbosa was returning. They expected a completely different person to walk down the stairs.
The cgi on Davey Jones is better than most cgi characters in films today. It’s such an insanely well created design.
Fun fact, it's not cgi. It's just his face. It's what happens when you have too much calamari 😊

The fact that that "I've got a jar of dirt" singing taunt was completely improv'd by Johnny Depp is HILARIOUS to me.
you mean improvised?
You can see Orlando Bloom momentarily break character to look at the film crew as Depp walks past doing his sing-song "Jar of Dirt" line.
@@youtubewontletme yes, I purposefully shortened it in the hopes that everyone would know what I meant.
I’m gonna say it- Norrington got 10 times hotter when his life fell apart and he found himself on that ship 😂
The rum is gone !
I was debating talking about that for this film or the next. Without giving spoilers, there is an outtake of the next film talking about liberating cargo and Jack's response is, "people aren't cargo"

that ending with Barbosa is legendary. i bet there were cheers from audience when this film first came out at the pictures
In mine there weren't cheers but loud gasps and " no way s" .
Our theater gasped and then cheered like crazy amd it got louder as the score kicked in for the credits. Absolutely top tier way to end a film.

I mean he did choose to be a pirate who notoriously are not known for being around to watch their kids grow up
@aubryellaotero1064 pretty sure he was a pirate before will was conceived
In the movie with salazar youl see young sparrow, a young cptn teague somebody who might look like barbossa

He’s very smart and an underrated character. He got done so dirty 😢
Jack picked up the hat and definitely recognized it

I like to think Ragetti (one-eyed pirate) was outgrowing his habit of repeating what his friend says and becoming more outspoken in this movie, but then the Kraken scared him so much that he regressed.

I accept no trash talk about these movies, especially the first 3. So damn enjoyable.
Alex, imagine those final scene Barbosa goose bumps in a packed theater at midnight. We didn't sleep for a week.
It was so cool
Straight up remember cheering like , "omg Hell yea!!!!!!!" just knowing that the 3rd film was going to be packed!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic reveal
The 3rd one is my favorite! Can't wait for you to watch it! Also when Norrington swiped the pardon papers in the row boat, he noticed the dirt on the boat and realized Jack hid the heart in the jar of dirt. That's when he got it.
And another thing is that someone explained that Will learned piracy from Jack in the first and 2nd movie, but Elizabeth learned piracy from Barbosa. That is why she is so cut throat and strategic in her plans
i hated the 3rd
Davy Jones is played by Bill Nighy. He's brilliant! You've seen him briefly in Harry Potter, he was the minister for magic in movie 7 and gave Harry and friends their inheritance from Dumbledore's will. He's also in Love Actually as the rocktstar guy if you've seen that. And if you haven't seen that PUT IT ON THE LIST FOR CHRISTMAS it's a freakin classic at this point. Stacked cast!
Love him in the Underworld movies too
The museum curator at the end of the Vincent Van Gogh episode of Doctor Who giving the speech that makes Vincent cry
Rattle snake jake in rango too
The step father in Shaun of the Dead.
Fun fact: the „I got a jar of dirt“ scene was totally improvised by Johnny 😂 the looks from Orlando and Keira are their real reaction to it
Also, back then, this was the greatest cliffhanger of all time
Barbossa showing up was such a brilliant way to end the movie! So glad you watched this, your reactions are great! The rum is gone!
Lord of the Rings - no real reason to watch it anywhere but a theatre. Great cinematography but after the pretty pictures there is not much left.

Don't know if it's been posted here or on Patreon, but Barbosa coming down the stairs was a surprise, the actors didn't know who was coming down so their reactions seeing him were genuine, I always loved that tidbit of knowledge lol 🖤 can't wait for A.W.E!
I read that they had been told that it was Anamaria (Zoe Saldana's character in the first movie) that would walk down the stairs.
Glad to see you survived to start the reaction! You can always bar the door before you start a "scary movie". Great reaction, as always.
"THE RUM IS GONE"
Love your reactions and really happy to see you doing one of my favorite movie series.
The best part of these reactions are Alex jumping like crazy at very little things.
I remember seeing that Barbossa reveal in theaters as a kid and being SOOO hyped for the next movie!
Same and after Potc 3 he became my favorite character
The immersion in these movies is just top notch. When they end it’s always like “damn… why can’t I go be a pirate?”
How did you not include the swinging cages scene😭😭😭, arguably the funniest scene of the move
I love that they shot that practically. They put them all in giant cages suspended from huge ass cranes and swung them back amd forth. So very genuine reactions.
Yea, I love the part where one of the other cage guys tries to climb even when there were people above, and accidentally catches a snake...😅
Interesting fact: The actors in that final scene didn't actually know that Barbosa was returning. That scene is their real reaction to seeing him come down those stairs and back!
23:23
"How did they shoot this?"
I'd recommend the behind-the-scenes, but a bunch of that is practical effects. Pretty awesome scene
Alex, please never change. I always loved your music reactions but your movie ones are a new level of great. Always make me laugh. Absolutely some of my fav content on TH-cam.
Wow, thank you! ❤
The Pirates trilogy is just the best movies you can watch. They are consistent on delivery and freaking pleasure to watch
The fact that you figured out the whole premise of Jack and Jones' deal is very impressive considering many reactors do not figure it out. BUT you did fumble with the very simple black spot aspect and that just made me wheeze xD
I love that you're counting this journey, those movies are amazing
This trilogy is legendary. Even now in 2024 still aged really well. People back then knew how to make actually entertaining journeys and stories to watch.
I'm glad you decided to continue with this franchise.
Jack's taunting of "I got a jar of diiirt!" was improvised by Depp. The befuddled looks on everyone else's faces were genuine.
"I thought it was gonna be Jack!" yes Alex, Jack will guide them to go rescue Jack
Random personal fun fact, my dad actually used to know and work with the witch lady in this movie, 13:45, in a show when they were both younger called Runaway Bay, he did not continue to pursue his acting career while she did, eventually getting her role in this movie
they just get better and better....and still apart from the CGI and special practical effects for me the music score is just fantastic.
That Barbossa reveal always gives me goosebumps. So fucking good!
Funny you mentioned "livestock" when Lord Beckett said he and Jack left "marks on each other"
Apparently the cast was told that Annamaria (Zoe Saldana) was going to walk down the stairs, so when they saw Barbosa it was their actual reaction.
Which basically equates "anything you observe you end up changing it."
In this case it's about love.
For anyone with limited boat experience: noise carries quite far on water so the reverb can carry orders from one end of a ship to another
Think they filmed this around St.
So basically, Disney were able to animate Davy Jones in 2005-2006 and earn an award for that, but WB can't make a freakin upper lip
The "I got a jar of dirt" bit wasn't scripted. Neither was the fall.
I find it so hilarious when Alex gets jump scared 😂 He swears so loudly it makes me laugh so hard 😅 especially at 8:15 and 2:57
Love this movie so much!! Aaa! Second fav movie for sure
Old video but not only was the "jar of dirt" scene improvised none of the crew were told bout Barbosa's return so their surprised reaction to him coming down the stairs is legit as well
Disney needs to fund films like this again. It's just too good
I was so happy to learn that parts of this movie was shot in my home country and every time I go back I try to visit those places 🇩🇲
My favourite franchise!! Absolutely loving your reactions 🤣 the next movie is the best for me 😍
2:45 Yup the good ol times....when disney also did brutal stuff and amazing CGI work.
when Will challenging Davy Jones.
Davy Jones asks him how do you know about the key?
Will replies and says, that's NOT part of the game is it? 😏 You can STILL walk away!! 😏
As for pirates 4/5 they are not even Canon they are filler movies.

They were 3 people playing the game
Each players starts with 4 dices.
Every number is just a number, except for number 1, it counts as a joker.
When Davy jones calls in for 7 fives, he believes that out of all 12 dices, 7 of them shows the number “5”
Will calls in for 8 fives.
The game is called cheat in Denmark (where I’m from)
The game is really fun, but can be a bit confusing.
I hope the rules made sense, I did my best to explain them
The Barbossa reveal at the end of this movie is epic!
I have no idea why it brings me such joy that all of these characters are constantly double crossing each other and getting into these epic fights, but they don’t take it personally and afterwards they’re just like “eh, we’re cool” and they’re still friends. It’s so weird but so adorable and hilarious and I love it so much.
I’ve been waiting 7 days for a new video you can bet I’m happy as hell that it’s pirates of the caribbean

"Ah, some company at last you have; some fitted company to keep you some fitted company."
"You know." Jack Slurred, being nuzzled by a pig, " that sentence doesn't really make all that much sense."
Scarlett scoffed, and not looking back she walked away down the lane.
"But at least," Jack thought, "I have a view." watching her swaying hips as she traced her hand along the chests of other prospects she past on the way back to her brothel, brazenly showing off her charms.
"She may be crazy," Jack thought, "But It's better if she doesn't know how mad my mind has become."
Putting Scarlett out of his mind he suddenly thought, "I suppose I should make a trip back to the island. At least I'll always know rum will be there."
Shaking his head, he tried to stand up slipping and tripping over the pot bellied pig beside him and falling into the mud again.
"Then you'll just have easier loot for the taking." Drunkenly grabbing his companion around the shoulder, "Get a crew of savages smart enough or crazy enough and you might just make off with more wealth than anyone would even know what to do with."
Shoving him off, the first man laughed walking down the alley. "Now wait." the second man yelled chasing after his companion, "This will actually make sense if your stupid head could wrap around the idea."
As the two men passed out of ear shot a thought went through Jack's head. 'A crew smart enough, or crazy enough?'
He sat up straight patting the head of the pig beside him.
Captain Jack turned and said, "Do not fear my pre baconed friend, I'm off for now but I may return."
Captain Jack sighed looking down at his compass.
