It is mentioned in the second one that Isla de Muerta has sunk/flooded and no one is capable of getting to it. The monkey stays undead the whole 3 movies
Curse of the Black Peral is a standalone movie while Dead Man's Chest & World's End were written as a two film saga, They have to be watched together otherwise they won't make sense.
And even then, the deleted scenes really help me appreciate the dice game, the "100 souls" etc etc. This is a dense movie, but some of its core was left on the cutting room floor
Johnny's Jar of Dirt bit was improvised, so the looks of confusion from Orlando and Keira were genuine. Orlando was also kept in the dark about Jack and Elizabeth's kiss, and the entire cast was told at the end that Zoe Saldana was coming down the stairs, so their reactions to Geoffrey Rush were real.

I love the backstory of Jack and Beckett. Sparrow was once a privateer for the East India Trading Company, and was tasked with transporting a ship full of “cargo”. Upon discovering that the cargo was actually 100 slaves, Sparrow absconded with the ship, the Wicked Wench, and set the slaves free. Beckett’s career suffered as a result, and he had Jack branded a pirate for “stealing” the ship full of slaves. What’s more, he had the Wicked Wench burned, sinking Jack’s beloved ship. Grieving the loss of the Wicked Wench, Jack then made a deal with Davy Jones. Jones agreed to raise the ship in exchange for 100 years of service. The ship’s hull was permanently blackened by the flames, so Jack renamed it the Black Pearl. Jack had 13 years of freedom and after that he should pay his debt. As we all know he doesn't want to do it. So when Davy Jones meets Jack he wants 100 souls in exchange of Jack's soul - a price chosen out of irony, given the reason the ship was sunk. It really puts Jack's character into different perspective and shows how he is "the worst pirate".
Jack making the 100-soul deal was just a stalling tactic. He was just trying to find any way to weasel out of his original deal with Jones. He had done so earlier, when telling the natives to increase the size of the fire. Of course, in that instance, he was just trying to save his own life.
I find it interesting that you like it. To me it ruins the mystery of Captain Jack Sparrow, and his character is very much built on that, and being unpredictable and selfish, which make his moments of humanity rewarding. Setting him up as a good guy already in the past undermines the key elements that make him so fascinating.

its just sad that they didnt tell his backstory...why he became a pirate...he was alot more selfless but people betrayed him over and over again when he did the right thing...no wonder he became a narcissist
People want the chest because they possess the leverage to get Jones to do whatever they want. "Do X or I stab the heart and you die." Jack wants Jones to forgive his debt. Norrington wants his old life back and Beckett will give it to him if he delivers the heart. Will wants Jones to free his father. World's End is totally worthy it.
it's not in this reaction but the "you're going to want to know what it tastes like" is one of my favorite dual character setups ever written. just brilliant dialogue. also i relate to Elizabeth pouting on the ship "i just thought i'd be married by now." same, girl. same.
first!. i loved your laughing hahahaha. really. and second, PotC is just a 10 on every sense!. it has everything, literaly. hope you get to see the third one
This movie is full of deleted scenes that should've stayed in, but my favorite is the Liar's Dice extended scene. I'd recommend watching it yourself, but the TLDR (and why I like it) is that Will plays a game with Jones before the one for the key. And he wins. Specifically he wins Bootstrap's freedom, so when Bootstrap joins & subsequently throws the game for the key, he isn't *just* throwing a game, he's throwing away his new freedom to save his son.
The convoluted fight sequence (Jack, Will and Norrington on the wheel and Elizabeth and the pirates with two swords between them) is one of my favorites and quite hysterical!
if you want a good pirate story, I recommend Black Sails, it's like the Game of Thrones but with pirate in term of scheming and politicing between pirates
The first movie was literally perfect. Somehow, they managed to make a movie that you can watch 10+ times and always notice something new. It's extremely layered.
I am huge fan of these first 4 movies. I sort of grew up with them. This movie in particular has a big emotional connection to me. I saw it first in theatres with my parents. At the scene where Jack faces the Kraken and dives in, thats when I looked to my right and saw my Mom, mouth a big O in shock. Huge core memory for me since I fell in love with watching peoples reactions to stuff.
The design of Davy Jones is so cool. My wife and I just rewatched this a few days ago. We both couldn’t believe how well the VFX held up. We watched another Disney film that came out within the last year or two, and it didn’t even come close to the VFX of this movie.
Love the first trilogy. Four is ok. Five is insultingly bad. Also, rotten tomatoes doesn't work like I think you think it does. It means that % of people liked the movie. Not, it's rated 72 out of 100. So a movie with a 60% score may well be rated higher than one with 100%. If that makes sense...
So, the game Jones and Will played is called Liar's Dice. There are variations on the rules of the game, and the rules for this one are fairly easy to figure out just by watching the scene. One of the rules, and one that made Bootstrap an A+ dad, is that you can _only_ call the last person who went a liar. So, Bootstrap literally put himself between Jones and Will, preventing Jones from claiming Will's soul.
i started watching your videos during the pandemic, and i just can't stop watching your videos anymore, you seem like such a nice person to be watching movies with
There's a tie-in videogame that explains Jack got locked up along with his father (you'll meet him later on) in that fortress prison, and he pushed Jack into a coffin to help him escape. Ans the stakes at Liar's Dice were, in fact, high because there's a deleted scene where Will plays (and wins) to release his father. Bootstrap got himself back in the Dutchman for nothing.
The third one is actually my favourite of all three ( i dont count the rest, they were awful), so def recommend! I think the general consensus is that all three are good and the rest are bad.
To me "Dead men tell no tales" is better than "In stranger tides". Also when you watch "Dead men tell no tales" its very clear Johnny Depp is dealing with his substance abuse.
Yes please watch the next one! It's honestly me favorite of the three, dramatic, epic, dark. Sure 1st one is better objectively, but I really love 3rd still
Geoffrey Rush was basically channelling the ghost of actor Robert Newton, who starred in the original Disney version of *Treasure Island,* and who was responsible for all the pirate speech tropes such as "Arrrr!" and "Shiver me Timbers!"
The part about the scene at 26:52 that everyone forgets: at this moment, everyone thinks they have the heart. Jack thinks he has it in the jar so he doesn't think Jones will attack, Jones thinks he has it in the chest so thinks it's safe to attack, and Norrington ACTUALLY has it and baited Jones' crew by quickly nabbing it from the jar and putting it in his jacket while Jack was fighting the dude on the beach.
I love the “I got a jar of dirt” bit. It was completely made up by Johnny and you can see the genuine confusion on Orlando’s and Kiara’s faces. It’s brilliant, simple, funny and is such a jack sparrow thing.
I'll recommend watching at least the next one since it's basically part 2 of this film. The rest are fine as popcorn flicks don't expect to much and they're enjoyable enough
You really should watch the 3rd film. The 2nd and 3rd are like a part 1 and 2 of same story arc. And some of Jacks questionable actions make sense by end of the 3rd
I don’t know about everyone else but these were just perfect films for me as a kid and as an adult they’re a nostalgia trip. The third one was my favorite as a kid. Still remember when and where I was when I saw it. I was in the sixth grade and my parent took me and my besties to see it for my birthday after some nice flaming wok.
There's a great video explaining the dice game scene because unless you fully understand the rules, there are a lot of details that are very easy to miss. I for example have seen this movie more times I can count (it's my favorite of the series) and did not fully understand it before seeing the analysis of it. The easiest to miss and most genius detail probably is that from the moment Bill joined as the last person, the outcome of the game was basically settled (and he knew it). That is because they are meant to declare their guesses based on the order in which they threw the dice, meaning that whatever Will did, his father could always outbid him and purposefully lose the game like he did.
Hey Nat! I’m shocked it took you so long to get back to the “Pirates” franchise because I’ve never seen you have more fun watching a movie than the “Curse of the Black Pearl”. The next movie (“At World’s End) is personally my favorite. It feels much more epic. Please watch the next movie.

@@jsmithers. I don’t think so. It’s just a fun way of saying “if you remember this conversation, this is the tribe he was talking about”
@@julioarmadillo So he's known and been the chief of this tribe for a long time now? Many years? What brought him back to them in this movie again?
@@jsmithers. I don’t know how long. But Jack has the black spot which means that the kraken is on his tail. Land being the only safe place from it and Davey Jones. So Jack was probably out on the water and was like “oh yeah that island I went to one time is close and probably a safer bet than the giant sea monster.”
@@jsmithers. but then again I don’t have all the answers because I didn’t write the movie. Just what I thought that happened. The tribe was also going to kill, cook, and eat Jack. Probably the reason he left them in the first place.
This trilogy was absolutely incredible. Acting, effects, ingenuity of the overall plot. So freaking good.
They made a part 4 & 5
This deserves at least a 7.5 nat you tripping 😂😋
Honestly like what the hell makes this a 6.5?? 🤣
@@Luca-VANat not understanding half of what’s going on
Yes the next movie is definitely worth watching! Its my absolute favorite of the 3 classics.
Bill Nighy has one of the best voices in movie history. On top of that, he is just a really great actor.
I somehow didn’t notice until now…but when we first see the Flying Dutchman, a bit of the Kraken’s theme plays, that coupled with the sailer mentioning fowl breath, and the one without the face…and you can pretty easily put together what happened to that ship if you remember Gibbs’ story
The spinning wheel bit is one of the best parts of the LEGO Game, swear to god.
To learn how the monkey is still around, there is a post-credit scene in the first Pirates movie.
I'm sure a couple people have said it already but the scene where Jack says I got a jar of dirt and falls wasn't scripted he decided to improve so everyone's reactions to him in that scene was 100% genuine
The first movie is my favorite but I do enjoy the following two movies. I distinctly remember having the poster for the 3rd movie as my desktop background leading up to its release. The location changes and new pirates we meet in the 3rd movie are pretty fun.
Jack Sparrows into is undoubtedly the best reveal to a character ever, it can tell you almost anything about him just by showing👏🏽
its just sad that they didnt tell his backstory...why he became a pirate...he was alot more selfless but people betrayed him over and over again when he did the right thing...no wonder he became a narcissist
@@HK-gm8pethey do tell you how he became a pirate in the 3rd movie.
@@Mike-pd6npOnly in the deleted scenes, which is a damn shame, since they've hinted at it pretty heavily in both 1 and 2.
You need to watch At World’s End. It is a great movie and lots of fun, and wraps up the trilogy story in a very satisfying way.
the 3rd one is a must watch!! it's my favorite :) the 4th and 5th are also good, not great but enjoyable
This is my favorite of the Pirates franchise because I love how they just leaned into the world and let it be absolutely bonkers.
The third movie is my absolute favourite I really hope you give it a chance it’s the one I always choose to rewatch over and over again
Davey Jones doesn’t show up for an hour into this movie. And he’s so memorable. Disney would never make a movie like this today. It’s bonkers.
Fun Fact; the fight on the water wheel was done completely practical, no CGI or even camera manipulation to fake it.
People want the chest because they possess the leverage to get Jones to do whatever they want. "Do X or I stab the heart and you die."
Jack wants Jones to forgive his debt. Norrington wants his old life back and Beckett will give it to him if he delivers the heart. Will wants Jones to free his father.
World's End is totally worthy it.
Davy Jones teleporting to the other ship through the view of the telescope is such a great shot.
This is honestly one of my favourite films growing up man, such a classic!!
Worlds end is so good. This trilogy is fun
Natalie just finished what you started with the pirates franchise. The Davy Jones lore is more explained in number 3
it's not in this reaction but the "you're going to want to know what it tastes like" is one of my favorite dual character setups ever written. just brilliant dialogue. also i relate to Elizabeth pouting on the ship "i just thought i'd be married by now." same, girl. same.
Oh you should definitely watch the next one! At World's End is my favorite one. They really expand on the lore of this world in some fun ways.
I remember recommending this to you on a live stream! So happy you got around to it. I hope you watch the 3rd next. Loved the intro!!!
first!. i loved your laughing hahahaha. really. and second, PotC is just a 10 on every sense!. it has everything, literaly. hope you get to see the third one
I feel the third one makes this one a lot better as it completes the saga but yeah the first is just so great that it’s hard to compete
I feel the third one is sort of a wrap up for the "trilogy".
It has some awesome sets and gives a satisfying ending.
At worlds end is possibly the best movie of the entire series
You should check out the extended Liar's Dice scene. It's a crying shame they cut it down so much from the final film.
I would love to see a reaction to the rest of the sequels!
Nat's editor is getting bolder and better with each video !... And I'm here for it !
Natalie - JACKS compass is Special, it Points to what the Person wants MOST.
The second and third movies are basically a two parter, they are both needed to see the full story.
One of my favorite films and trilogies of all time!!!
The convoluted fight sequence (Jack, Will and Norrington on the wheel and Elizabeth and the pirates with two swords between them) is one of my favorites and quite hysterical!
YOU MUST WATCH AT LEAST THE NEXT ONE!!!!!! Please finish the first 3
if you want a good pirate story, I recommend Black Sails, it's like the Game of Thrones but with pirate in term of scheming and politicing between pirates
This series of movies just scratches my brain and brings out the kid in me🥰
The first movie was literally perfect. Somehow, they managed to make a movie that you can watch 10+ times and always notice something new. It's extremely layered.
The next movie is the cherry on top of the trilogy watch it!!!!
Monkey survived in a post-credit scene in the first movie where it's shown to steal one of the cursed coins and thus gained immortality
This is my absolute favorite out of all of them 🤩
Davy Jones is one of the best villains ever. I can’t put my finger on why. But he is.
Dead Man's Chest and At Worlds End are essentially parts 1 and 2 of the same movie. The story started in this movie is concluded in the next one.
So, Bootstrap literally put himself between Jones and Will, preventing Jones from claiming Will's soul.
i started watching your videos during the pandemic, and i just can't stop watching your videos anymore, you seem like such a nice person to be watching movies with
best ending ever.
Johnny took 30 minutes to enter the scene in POTC 1, Geoffrey Rush takes THE ENTIRE movie.
I still love this movie all these years later!
The whole series is definitely worth seeing. It's a very entertaining, fun story.
I love the bloopers for this movie! Also “I got a jar of dirt” my favorite!
If I remember correctly, i heard that line about jar of dirt was improvised by depp
@shenran9164 yea, I heard that too.
YES! The pirate movies are so fun!
I hope you even watch 4 and 5!
10:13 - sort of a princess bride moment - the dog survives....
The way I got so excited when I saw this title show up on my notifications!!!
Your intros are something to behold 😂❤
THANK YE MATEY!!
AAARRRRGGGHHH!!
Bill Nighy is perfectly cast as Davy Jones
Glad your finishing your rewatching of pirates of the carribean as the last reaction was awhile ago so glad its coming around finally.
2 and 3 were shot together as a single project, you have to finish!
Pirates 3 is definitely worth watching. Finish the trilogy!
At World's End is definitely my favorite! I feel like cinematically it is especially amazing.
Hey Nat!
I’m shocked it took you so long to get back to the “Pirates” franchise because I’ve never seen you have more fun watching a movie than the “Curse of the Black Pearl”.
The next movie (“At World’s End) is personally my favorite. It feels much more epic.
Please watch the next movie.
