I am NOT a cook. The best meal that I could make was a reservation. But since my wife’s stroke left her with right side hemiplegia, I have been striving to learn to cook. Then my wife fell and broke her right hip, whereupon it was discovered that she had terminal abdominal cancer, and she is now palliative. I was literally thrown into the kitchen, in the deep-end, as it were. If something came out of a box, or a can (or from a very kind neighbour or a friend from church), I could manage (sort of).
I wanted (needed), to try my hand at waffles, since they were a favourite for my wife.
I thought I would try to Google it and found your recipe.
It took me a lot of effort to sort things out but I finally analysed what I needed to do.
Guess what? It worked. Thank you. I will continue to work on this and check out your other recipes.
I am going to try to buy your book. Thank you again.

I do make pumpkin waffles. I have found that my recipe, left plain, makes a very heavy waffle. By adding in the pumpkin, it really lightens up the batter. I also use unsweetened applesauce, which lightens and adds a bit of sweetness. Chunky applesauce gives you a little surprise burst of apple flavor when you bite into a chunk.

Waffles! Thank you. Your recipe is very similar to mine. I use sunflower oil instead of butter and I rarely add any sugar. I made waffles yesterday for breakfast and some with cooked apples and natural yoghurt. I finished off with hazelnut butter and mashed banana. Delicious!

It's all about the steam--when it slows down almost to a stop, that's when I open the waffle iron--or they're too soft. Too much like pancakes. So, I ignore the lights, and just wait for the steam to almost stop before opening the iron. I noticed, too, if you open it before the steam almost stops, the darn thing WILL split! I want to try making this with chickpea flour! Thank you! BTW, I always have to spray my non-stick waffle maker with some oil, so the first one never sticks. Also, I noticed that IF I DO wait til the steam is almost stopped coming out the waffle is undercooked and that's when it separates! We like ours pretty crispy so that's why I just ignore the lights and focus on the steam! Oh, and I try different ways of pouring the batter in, sometimes I pour in the middle and close, and sometimes I pour the batter enough to miss every little hole! Just for variety! And I used to make them up in a big batch and freeze them so that my kids could just pop them into the toaster oven!

    • @jillygsglutenfree4063
      @jillygsglutenfree4063  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for the tips!! I will have to pay more attention to the steam!! Let me know how they are made with chickpea flour! These freeze so well too!! Thank you for watching and commenting!

I pour it in the middle, but my batter is slightly thicker. Sometimes I use sugar free jam! I, too, love to put a fried egg on top with syrup! I put cocoa in my waffle last night to make it more like a dessert. I should of doubled the coconut sugar, though!

    Wow wow wee wow!!
These waffles are AMAZING!! ❤️❤️❤️ I used 1 to 1 g/f baking flour, coconut sugar, Himalayan pink salt, baking powder, Kerrygold unsalted butter (melted) 3 eggs, Evo oil spray (for hot iron), a capful of vanilla & unsweetened (orginal) almond milk. 😋 😋
Thank you so much Jilly for this recipe!
Our Son is Autistic/also has ADHD, so g/f options really help him & we all eat it when we can. (cost) ❤️❤️ You don't know how many years I have prayed for g/f recipes!! 💕💕 Thank you immensely!
When I'm searching for recipes, I usually watch the first one I come to, today~ that was YOU!! ❤️
    ITS WAFFLE WEDNESDAY!! 🧇 😋
Thank you for keeping your videos real~ ❤️ in real time I mean. I love your personality ~ I can relate to forgetting things all the time. haha
    So no worries here. 👍🏻
I would LoVe to see how much PUMPKIN you use in your waffles, etc!! I go GAA GAA over pumpkin!! lol (but I'm a seasonal nut~ I like it during Fall) That's about the only thing that gets me excited thinking about the COLD 🥶 temps!! Brrr! Other than the holidays of course. ❤️
On the other hand~ I like to use 70% chocolate chip morsels on top of some of them & a spatula full of frozen blueberries 🫐 on another, while some~ I leave plain~ to mix it up a bit. 😋
I sprinkle ceylon cinnamon over each waffle when done. I place a tblsp of unsalted butter on each waffle & drizzle some yummy 100% pure maple syrup over that. Sometimes I add powdered sugar, but these waffles were so good w/o that!! They all came out plump & fluffy! 🤩
I ate my first one with all that I mentioned, & had some syrup left over~ so I had another one! (That never happens! lol) But, this one was plain, I just dipped it in the syrup to clean my plate & it was still very good w/o any toppings, butter!
I have liked/subscribed~ & marked my notifications to receive all of your videos every time you post from now on.. I can not wait to see what else I can make with you! 💕 Thanx again! 😊

I should write a book too! 🙃😆❤️ lol!! >forgot to mention that I use to use coconut oil in the store bought mixes, but it would harden quickly if not heated right away of course.. the g/f store waffle mixes are so expensive too!! So that is what brought me here today! ❤️👍🏻 I will never buy store bought again! I love being able to have a better grasp of what is going into our bodies!! ❤️🎉 Vs all the nasty fillers/dyes. Have a great week everyone!! March is here~ bring on the GREEN grass + HOT TEMPS!! 🌴

Hello!! Wow, thank you so much!! Your waffles sound amazing!! I am so glad that you found my channel, and made my waffles! I love the idea of waffle Wednesday! I will have to start doing that!! My husband and I also like to make waffle sandwiches, just put a couple fried eggs in between 2 waffles and a little syrup, I know it sounds a little weird, but so good! Pumpkin waffles are so easy!! And because pumpkin is magic, or at least I think so lol, it can replace the eggs in the recipe!! I usually add around 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, if the batter seems too thick, I will add a little more liquid. Works great and is delicious! The same goes for pumpkin pancakes too! You are so very welcome!! I agree, it really is helpful when we know what we are eating, and of course making it ourselves is cheaper and tastes so much better than store bought!! Thank you so much for your kind words!! And watching and commenting, and letting me know what you think!! And I so agree!! I am ready for spring!!!

Waffles, I do love them, but crispier...thank for the tip of the oven, this gone a do the trick.
And I can do salty ones. In argentina we have Fainá, is a dish made from chickpea flour, water, olive oil, salt and pepper, so is gluten free I supose, we cut a triangle and put over the pizza to eat the2 at the same time. And we made an experiment, and made faina waffles (same recipe but in the waffle maker instead of the oven) and is something else! All my love❤

It is. But you can also use a mixture of things to make your own. Unfortunately, for some folks it is a necessity if they are to make things such as the ones Jill makes.

It is for sure. I buy in bulk and that helps on the cost.

Totally not the same as sticking a fork in a toaster, you can die sticking it in the toaster. Never stick a fork in a toaster.
