We can definitely agree with the long winters! It's nice to visit in the summer but I don't think we could live there all year long. We didn't know that about Vancouver! It was our favorite city to visit in North America 😀 But that's the limited experience that you get as a tourist when you only see the downtown.
As a city person, I loved this video. It is amazing how Calgary is both a big modern city, yet accessible. I was amazed by how many parks it had and how easy it was to just walk around. I think its a pretty city.

Calgary really is very neat and modern. I suppose it's an advantage of these relatively "new" cities which don't have to deal with problems like narrow streets and outdated infrastructure. But out favorite North American city we've been to is Vancouver which is even more modern looking 😊 Perhaps Canadians in general take a good care of their cities. A good video. Calgary is a beautiful city as most Canadian cities are. My experiences with Canadian cities have all been good. There are always lots of parks and beautiful gardens. I especially like greenhouses and botanical gardens. Thanks for the stroll through downtown. Amazing how clean Canadian cities are. The older neighborhoods have such interesting homes along tree lined streets. Looks like a really nice city to visit. Thanks again for the nice tour of Calgary. You guys take care. Tony
Thanks, Tony. Our experience with Canadian cities has also been very positive, even though we've only visited 3 of them. We loved seeing so much greenery in Calgary.

We enjoyed your little tour around Calgary. FYI, delphiniums are a perennial here in BC but sometimes will not survive a very severe winter. As for the neighbourhoods you found with groups of the same house, after WWII these were often built to quickly provide affordable housing for those returning from the war. These neighbourhoods are very noticeable in Vancouver.
Thank you, that is good news about delphiniums 😊 Also it sounds interesting about the housing after WWII. But we've also seen brand new neigborhoods (many of them at the edges of Calgary as it is expanding at a fast pace) that also have bigger groups of houses that look the same.
@@tommyandpeter You're right, now that you mention it we have seen new subdivisions with a few house plans that are repeated throughout the whole subdivision. Peter, I also love blue flowers, blue and yellow are my favourites. I have had good success with irises which you should be able to grow in Czech.
Irises are already planted, we are hoping next year there will be flowers. We have planted and also plan to plant more flowers so we are looking forward to next seasons 😊
You covered a lot of territory on your walks. Again your walk about brought back several memories from my life in Calgary - visits to the zoo with the kids, rafting down the bow river and my old Scotiabank branch where I started my banking career. Can’t wait to visit with the dinosaurs in Drumheller 😊
We're glad you could reminisce with us. Rafting down the river sounds like fun! We should try that the next time we visit 😁 See you next week around Drumheller!

We're glad you've been enjoying our trip! Fortunately, the grass is growing slowly so we've only had to mow it once since returning from our vacation 😊
We didn't have much time in Calgary. We had to catch a plane to Toronto. The only thing I remember was that it was freezing cold so we wanted to be inside. We visited a garden which was at the top of a tall building. I think it was called The Garden in The Sky. I wonder if it's still there ?
Exploring in cold can be fun but not for long. Although it creates lasting freezing memories (Oslo, Norway in our case). I remember we visited a garden placed on the top floor of a shopping mall back in 2015. Perhaps we're talking about the same place? We haven't been there since then though.
Describing a metropolis in a few lines is impossible, certainly Calgary must be very "vibrant" all perfect, but as we have seen from your beautiful movie you are always looking for nature. We too love nature in all its forms. What about Peter always so full of enthusiasm and energy, really beautiful. You guys convey a lot of positivity, and God knows how much we need it. We love spending our free time in nature, but Calgary was a nice change of scenery for a few moments 😊 When it comes to cities, Calgary is not a bad place to spend some time at all. Peter's energy seems to be unlimited. Too bad I can't absorb some of it 😁
Who would ever have guessed that Peter was a City Fairy? 🤣 Thanks for the tour of down town Calgary and it’s more select suburbs. I really enjoyed the gardens at the zoo, which were wonderfully empty. Delphiniums are gorgeous, but beware: they very quickly fall prey to slugs who can devour an entire plant over the course of a night. There at dusk, vanished by dawn!! You’re a lucky man Tommy. Peter is so sweet and playful, scampering around. 😀
It was being a city fairy for a day but we're back to being garden fairies now 😀 Thanks for the warning about delphiniums. We have more flowers and shrubs that slugs seem to love so what's one more 😁 If we plant some, we'll have to protect them with our slug candies.
@@tommyandpeter Brilliant. They’re my favourite. I save the seed heads each year and sow them the following year. They’d look great in the flower beds in the yard immediately outside of your country house.
I am surprised that mosquitoes are a problem in Canada. I expect them in the subtropics where I live but I would have thought the freezing weather would kill them off. I was surprised that in some smaller towns, everything on main street had to be the same architecture like a European village. Loved it. That was a long walk. Thanks.
It seems mosquitoes are all around the world, but they are adapted to the local climate. Our mosquitoes behave differently than those in Canada. Ours actually prefer colder weather. They hide when it's warm. But they don't like too cold either.
Hi guys, Calgary looks like a nice city clean and lots of green areas with plants flowering, running through the water jets looked fun, I must say I agree with you about the house all being different I think Tommy is right the city is not that old compared to European cities, but having said all that it still looked beautiful, take care of each other

We actually haven't been to that crypt! We should go sometime. We've been to a different place, Brno Ossuary, but there are only skulls there and those don't smell.
Any time I am trekking in the countryside, I am sure every mosquito in the area sends out an invitation to lunch to their friends. I just become a walking menu 😝

You two always have encounters with dangerous animals. That massive snake on the path at home, bears in the Canadian Parks, and now the biggest rabbit in North America. I thought you might need to use your bear spray on him! 😂
Haha, we were just saying that yesterday as we were driving from our country home back to Brno. There was a hare next to the road and we were commenting how tiny it looked compared to those Canadian beasts 😃

Cities also drain me of my energy. Houses in North America look more modern because North America isn't as old as Europe. We don't have century old buildings. Some European buildings are even older than the USA or Canada. That's crazy.
Exploring new cities can be fun but only for a limited amount of time 😃 Indeed, there are so many buildings all over Europe which are hundreds of years old. Even our country house is more than 100 years old. So walking in a North American city is a nice change.
Beautiful and interesting. Y'all are so thin. Congrats. A lot of us gain weight as we age and get lazy. Not me, BTW. 5' 8" and about 140 lbs or as you would say 70 kilos or something like that. Canada is so beautiful and I believe the 2nd largest country in the world but a lot of it is unfarmable and way way too cold. Canada has a lot of oil shale as does America. Most Canadians live within 40 or 50 miles of the USA border and seem just like Americans except for their fear of guns and their politics.
Haha, thanks. It's pretty hard for us to gain weight since we eat healthy and stay active. We're both 5'11" and about 135-140 lbs. We often hear (especially from our family members) how thin we are and that we need to gain weight 😄
