Thanks for your patience, Jetsetters! We've taken a few weeks away from publishing because we've been filming some MASSIVE videos (like this one). More to come...promise!
We wondered where you guys had been. Great video again. Yes adding the price is a great addition to your info. Once again thanks for giving us something to look forward to.
I think including prices is good since it helps those wanting to go on these kinds of trips know what kind of budget they will be working with. Though, for people like me, I’m here for the adventure and views. I can’t really afford these kinds of trips, so going on an adventure vicariously through you has been fantastic!
As an 80 year old Canadian I must say that your report of one of Canada’s proudest assets YOU DO US PROUD. There were several moments in your EXCELLENT (as always) video that it actually sent shivers of pride through my aging body. THANK YOU!
I was nine years old when Dad (a train enthusiast since he was a boy) booked the family on VIA rail from Jasper to Vancouver, followed by a BC Ferries jaunt over to Victoria. He was so taken with the scenery that he shot nine rolls of film and had it developed in Victoria at the 1-hour development place. He has since left the world, but the memories of that trip and the fantastic photos remain. Thanks, Dad!!
As a Canadian, I can’t begin to tell you how moved I was by this video. I was actually moved to tears at the end and felt so much pride for our country. Thanks for the great video.
We moved to Canada (from Palestine) 32 years ago... and i am always thankful that my parents chose Canada.. the best and most beautiful country in the world!
Since you ask, YES, please do consider adding basic cost information to your videos! Even a ballpark figure, if the prices are subject to frequent change, would be appreciated, because it's certainly a time-saver (and a dream-saver, for those of us thinking long-term) to have at least some idea to base realistic plans upon. Knowing at the start that the trip is something you simply can't afford right now still lets you watch with pleasure while you add the trip to a bucket list!
I am a naturalized Canadian and I am sure glad I moved from the DSA. Beware of trolling Americans on these comments who want to turn Canada into a neo-fascist country because they cannot get total control of both of the borders.
I live in British Columbia.. Jasper was devastated by fire this summer, so much loss😪.. it will take some time to rebuild. So glad you experienced Jasper in all its glory and beauty🙏
I seldom look at any picture and think "I want to be that guy" but the video photo of the guy lying in the spacious bed gazing out of the window and enjoying the view is absolute GOALS right now 👍
So, I just did this trip myself at the end of May! I travelled Sleeper Plus Class, which includes a comfortable bed every night to sleep in and all of your meals, exactly the same as the meals in Prestige Plus Class. I am a Senior, so I got a bit of a discount, but I am extremely thrilled to say that I only paid $1,307. for MY 4-day and 4-night experience on this same train. (Prices went up by $150. across the board just a few days later for the 'high' season.) I wouldn't recommend staying in your own private cabin, for the very reason that it causes you to be a lot less social with your fellow travellers. I met people from all over the world and thoroughly enjoyed the interactions. Every day I ate meals with different people. I came home with new friends from Ireland, England, Australia, Germany, India, the Netherlands, etc., etc. My sleeping berth was private and very comfortable. Taking showers was pleasant and easy and you are provided with large towels, soap and shampoo. Booze is not included in the pricing for Sleeper Plus Class, so you pay as you go for wine with dinner ($10./glass) or any other drinks you may wish to have. All non-alcoholic drinks are included, though. I did this trip alone because I don't have a travel companion. I felt safe and secure the whole time and was treated very, very well by all of the VIA Rail Staff. I would do it again in a heartbeat! (Next time, I think I'll do it from Vancouver to Toronto!) This is the train journey of a lifetime and I highly recommend it. 😎
Found your story! Wonderful! Where did you book? What’s the name of your route, please? I’m a senior also, as are my regular traveling companions. We love meeting strangers who soon become friends 🩷
@@carolewhelan2492 Hi Carole. I used CAA (Canadian Auto Association) to book my trip, because I am a member there and I found it easiest. (Not being completely comfortable doing things online, I like to get the assistance of a much younger helper! The AutoClub gives me that for free!). I have a bit of advice. If you get a private cabin, I believe that it makes you a lot less sociable with your fellow travellers. A lot of the 'cabin people' tended to just stay in there except for mealtimes. Also, if you are in a cabin, you can only see out one side of the train when you are in there with the door closed. I personally think that I had a better experience than they did. I got myself a lower Sleeper Berth and it was excellent! The upper one involves a little ladder and I'm not too secure about ladders at night-time (anytime, if I'm honest -- not a spring chicken any more!). The lower berth is astonishingly comfortable, and you have that huge window all to yourself all night long (of course, you can close the blind, but I left it wide open the whole time and slept in the moonlight!). Even if I was awake at night, I could still gaze out the window if I wanted to. These berths are transformed into comfortable loveseat-sized chairs - one for each person. The trains they use for these journeys are historic. They were built in the 1950's and have been fully restored. My train had 22 cars, 2 of which were engines, 4 were dome cars, 2 were dining cars, 2 were Economy Class seating, 2 were Prestige Class cabins and 1 was a luggage car. All the rest were Sleeper Plus category. Sleeper Plus is the mid-range class -- Prestige is the top and Economy the bottom. Sleeper Plus includes all your meals, and the food is identical to that served to the Prestige people. The food was excellent. Great meals, with lots of choice and done very elegantly and beautifully. It's fine dining, to be sure! Depending on the number of passengers, there is more than one seating for lunch and dinner. When you sign in at Union Station at the beginning, they have you choose you dining preferences for the day right then and there, and then you are given the chance to choose every day and you can change it if you want to. You will be expected to share a table for 4 when you go for your meals. I talked to and met people from all over the world. It was fabulous. I read comments from people who said they wouldn't want to have to eat with strangers -- that astonishes me, because I had the most wonderful time doing exactly that. I absolutely loved this journey and I definitely plan to do it again. I want to do it in different seasons. I also want to do it in reverse -- from Vancouver to Toronto as well as Toronto to Vancouver. I flew home at the end of my 3 weeks away (I spent lots of time visiting friends in the Vancouver area once I was out there. It took me 4 days and 4 nights to get out there. And just over 4 hours to fly back (Abbotsford to London). I recommend that every single Canadian does this journey at some point. It will open their eyes! It's the trip of a lifetime and I highly recommend it. I had the time of my life.
I have just seen your comment here, sorry for long delay in responding to you. I booked my trip through CAA, the Canadian Auto Club (I am a member). The route is called VIA Rail The Canadian Train #1. Twice each week it departs from Toronto and four days later arrives in Vancouver at Pacific Central Station. And twice each week that same train leaves Vancouver for Toronto. I recommend this trip wholeheartedly. I want to do it again (but have to wait until my much needed hip replacement is behind me!) If you go, enjoy it! Go in June, before school lets out but the days are nice and long. I actually departed on May 28th when I went last year, which got me a bit of a discount because it wasn't considered high season yet. In fact, the very next departure would have been $150. more for my trip.@@carolewhelan2492
@@missymyers7043 I went one way and flew home after spending a few weeks visiting friends living out west. I recommend doing this trip alone, you'll have a wonderful time. Get yourself a Sleeper Berth, so comfortable. Get the lower one, it has the window all night (that was important to me). All meals included. And the food is excellent! My hip replacement went really well and I am doing GREAT! No more pain and disability! I'm thrilled. Just finishing up 3 months of physiotherapy to make me strong. I definitely plan to travel on The Canadian again. Would love to do all the seasons! Have a wonderful time if you go. You MUST go! It's excellent!
I'm a Canadian. Back in 1981 I took the train from Toronto to Vancouver. I had a roomette. It was the best experience ever! The food was divine, the staff were amazing. The bar car was a non-stop party with a load of people who had travelled from Atlantic Canada. At that time, the train went through the Rockies via Banff and Revelstoke. This is the absolutely most awesome scenery. The Spiral Tunnel was amazing. You could see the front of the train going in one direction while the back of the train was going 90 degrees in the other direction. Unfortunately, that route is now used by the Rocky Mountaineer which most Canadians can't afford to take. The trip took 2.5 days. This Jasper route is much longer and different scenery. Definitely, take the train across Canada!
As a Canadian, I have to say how much we appreciate your kind and generous comments about our beautiful country. I was born in Toronto, my husband from Saskatoon and two of our children live in Edmonton and Wainwright...all of which you mentioned in your video. In 2018, we crossed our country from Vancouver to Prince Edward Island and back and to see and experience the landscapes and cultures from west to east was memorable. Although you loved your journey, to experience our Provinces of Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes is definitely an adventure not to be missed. Thank you for such an amazing journey.
I would like to visit your country one day. My Dad has been, and others in my Karate class have travelled to Canada. All great ,memorable experiences and clean.
An American couple was driving through Canada. At one point they became lost but saw a gas station up ahead. As they pulled into the station the wife told the husband to go inside and ask the clerk where they were. He did so, and the clerk replied, “Saskatoon Saskatchewan”. Upon returning to the car the wife asked her husband what he had found out. Her husband replied, “He doesn’t speak English”.
That IS wonderful! I would l9ve to take that trip, in this manner! Thank you for the excellent advice in this comment. You make reading comments on TH-cam well worth the aggravation I occasionally run into! We learn as much(at times), if not MORE, here in the comments, as in the video!
My husband and I carried my 90 year old dad on the Canadian Railroad trip from Vancouver to Calgary. It was probably one of our favorite vacations, the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen. I would recommend this trip to everyone.
An American here. Really enjoyed your video. I’ve never been to Canada but you provided some of the most beautiful countrysides I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
It’s so nice hearing an honest discussion of trip pricing. Too often these days you see vloggers saying oh hey we paid for this whole trip with 850,000 miles - but they never bother breaking down how much it is or how they got those miles in the first place
This trip has seat sales, you can get tickets (or use to) for 75% off. The lone seats use to be as cheap as $300. I paid $1275 for a bunk room and all the amenities. A deal hunter can find an affordable ticket
Did this trip 20 years ago , glad to hear it’s still amazing we loved and will do it again , 70 this year time flys x we live in uk , met folks from all over the world , food was amazing 🤩 And what a brilliant history to learn of this amazing railway x
My wife and I just love watching you bring us these wonderful adventures. Thanks for the way you portrayed Canada - as Canadians, it made us proud. Definitely on our bucket list!
I'm an American who has traveled extensively. Of all the countries I have visited, I can tell you I've never had a bad experience in Canada. They're such beautiful people. ❤
@@brutus4013 you must live in the GTA [greater toronto area] or vancouver, go to small cities or other cities in canada,i moved to ottawa 3 weeks ago and people have been great to me.
@@CikisHelyzet Glad I didn't disappoint you . Sorry if the truth hurts . Canadians are great folks , but like every other country ,there has been a huge influx of people from around the world and the character of Canada has changed , not always for the better . It's Human nature that people bring with them their religious beliefs , their prejudices and all other good or bad qualities they may have . That just the way it is .
As a musician I’ve played on the VIA rail’s Entertainment On Board program a few times. The best gig ever. It is definitely some of my fondest memories ever.
As someone who currently lives in Alberta and is from Northern Ontario, the Rockies and the Canadian Shield are some of the most beautiful and rugged places in North American. Glad you enjoyed the trip, scenery and the experience. If you thought the VIA experience through the Rockies was something, wait till you take the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff, it will blow your mind.
As a Canadian I sometimes forget how beathtaking this country is. I did this train ride when I was a kid with my granmother going to expo 86 and it is still one of my favorite trips ever. Mind you we didn't do it first class but it was still great. I would love to do it again as an adult.
I live just 30 minutes south of the boarder on the coast of Washington and I remember going to Expo 86 with my first husband’s family as teens and it was a blast!
Wow! That must have been so much fun. You also took me aback as I haven't thought about an "Expo" in quite a while. Kinda wondered if they did them any more. My family drove to Canada when I was a little girl for Expo '67. I do wonder if they do them any more...
I did the trip across Canada with my mother when I was 6 and it was awesome! The porter made up our beds every night and I remember them as bunk beds. We just had open couches during the day
it always makes me chuckle when people expect Ontario to be boring. Our province is full of beautiful scenery, fresh water and friendly people. Glad you enjoyed:)
It’s not that it’s boring, it’s that from about Perry Sound ( or sooner) it’s all the same. Beautiful but take a few good books. Even the mountains won’t hold your attention in 18 hour sunlight days.
@@octogirl2046 I'm guessing you're talking about the train. It takes the northern route through Cochrane and Kapiskasing. It's pretty bleak, but driving from Soo St Marie to Thunder Bay is world class beautiful if the weather's clear.
My husband was from Vancouver Island, and it was the most incredibly beautiful place I’ve ever visited. Imagine a sunny day sitting in a warm tide pool and looking at the ocean and snow capped mountains. Digging clams for dinner.
OMG you nailed this with the exact words I often say as being a lucky person to have lived in Vancouver and Vancouver Island OMG....definitely the BEST living I've ever done! In Ontario (Northern Ontario up near Sault Ste. Marie) beside Lake Superior and the rugged North Pre-Cambrian Shield areas which again is no slouch on WOW factors...but in a heart beat Vancouver Island is my 1st Home!
Watching this on Canada Day 2023. Canada is truly glorious and free and the most wonderful neighbor to the north we could ever hope to have. I've traveled from Vancouver and Victoria to Halifax - from sea to sea - and some of the best times and nicest people I ever met were in Canada.
As a Canadian, I thank you for making me prouder of my country and my home province of Ontario. I have crossed the country by vehicle a couple of times. Your trip is on my bucket list!
At the speed this World is moving at I think it would be safe to say that...'It is not the destination but the journey'...that Life is all about. Canada is a huge country but is filled with non-stop beauty and real human beings. After all isn't that what life is all about? Excellent video Jeb. You have one of the best jobs on the planet.
I am elderly now and have longed all my life to take a train across Canada. It was close to the real thing, with my imagination along for the ride. Thank you for this pleasure! (If I could only buy a bottle of that mountain air!)
I love Canada. So many reasons to return: Great outdoors, delicious food and drink, Northern lights in the Yukon, unforgettable wildlife, friendly locals, rich culture, driving and camping in its national parks...
I apparently need to get out more … I broke into tears at 26:16 at the combination of the beauty and your choice of music. What a remarkable opportunity. You guys filmed, narrated and edited this with such excellence. Just a huge WOW! Thank you. From a mom stuck in the house in flat boring northeast Florida. 😊
I took that trip in 2017, but in a roomette, not Prestige Class. Fantastic journey, even the frequent pauses on a siding to allow the higher priority freight trains to pass weren't much of a bother. Watching your excellent production brought back the finer points of the trip. Thanks for posting it! BTW - in the long shot starting at 1:22 into the video, that colourful sculpture at the end of the hall is by my late aunt, Mary Filer. Nice to see it.
As a 33 year railroader, I've seen some of the most incredible country imaginable that is not accessible to any save the hardiest backpackers. I've been stalked by bobcats, inspected (too closely) by bears, and startled way too often by buzzworms (rattlesnakes.) I once had a coyote chase my motorcar, but he gave it up. This trip, depicted here, has been a joy to watch. I might talk my wife into making the same journey. Multiple thumbs up!!!
You asked if you should include the price of the trips in your videos and I think yes. It gives people an idea of what the trip budget will look like so they can start planning without having to look it all up first. 😊
@@elteescat That not making anything easier for others. Prices vary due to so many factors. You want others to do research so you don't have to do it... not the same thing.
I just looked it up and it literally took two minutes to google. You are looking st six thousand and change CAD per person double occupancy in Prestige right now. Via prices and availability fluctuate throughout the day, so it is impossible to give a quote without knowing your dates.
Yes, definitely include prices! I just watched your SF-to-Chicago video. It was great to see the range of prices for different levels of luxury. I especially liked that you posted prices for solo travelers.
I must say, I'm currently battling intensive depression and insomnia but you guys brought such joy and a smile to my face watching and it calmed me down.. keep on keeping it real!
@GreenerGrass just like your name I see GreenerGrass in my future buddy! I'm just in a weird place.. I'm about to be 31 in 4days from now and I feel like I haven't done anything with my life. I had money but spent it, but then again that's what it's for. Pretty much just seeing how happy and satisfied you both were warmed my heart that there are still good people out there, enjoying life and it gives me hope to do the same
Depression is a dreadful thing, hope you soon get some help for your condition and watching these lovely videos is so uplifting. Sending you good wishes.
I'm from the prairies and have been living in eastern ontario for four years now, and seeing the transition to the morning of day three made me cry a bit. Gorgeous! This is my spouse and my dream train trip and it was really a joy to see it through your eyes. Thank you.
Thank you for taking all of your viewers along on this wonderful journey. As far as costs are concerned, please include them so we know how much such travels would be.
The train is special. It looks like a great way to travel across the country. I think the price for the premiere service sounds high, but it's a luxurious way to go, all-inclusive and even entertainment too.
Am I the only one who watched it from the starting to the end? Well this one is so amazing and it shows how Beautiful Canada is when it comes to nature too, I wish France was having those beautiful mountains, thanks for the video and hope to see more
What?? France, no beautiful mountains?? "The Alps are the largest mountain chain in Europe, extending for almost 1,000km with a surface area of 35,000km² in France."
Even at normal class this is a great trip, you don’t need luxuary rooms go talk to fellow passengers and enjoy. Thank you Canada from an appreciate ‘Brit ‘.
@@ThePlayer442 Prestige Class is by far and above the most expensive ticket on that train. A berth will cost you less than a third of the Prestige ticket and still includes all those fabulous meals.
Including the cost is an excellent idea. This way others can plan and know what to expect. Also, maybe showing (telling) what hoops are needed to prepare for each trip. Love being invited on your adventures.
I did this trip (Vancouver to Montreal) “Third Class” in 1976….It was a mind-alteringly SPECTACULAR experience! The vistas between Vancouver and Alberta were jaw-dropping! The people, landscape and experiences will live with me forever…..
Don't forget you are traveling through 5 Provinces in 4 days.not bad for inclusive. The views Sunrises & Sunsets are amazing. The mountains get snow in May and June at higher levels
I love how positive and upbeat you guys are! So many travel content creators spend a lot of their videos really tearing things down and digging into negatives; it was nice to see a lovely experience from a gentle point of view.
What a treat to have this video pop up on my screen. Born and raised in Alberta, spending my youth in the rocket mountains during all seasons, and finally settling in Vancouver, BC, it was wonderful to hear about your experience on our incredible VIA Rail, so glad you enjoyed our beautiful country. 🇨🇦
Took this trip 14 years ago. A rail journey of a lifetime. We left Toronto in the evening so arrived in Winnipeg and Edmonton on mornings that gave us time to explore the cities. I cannot pretend I slept soundly as my single cabin seemed to be above a set of bogie wheels but the food was good and it was great to take in the landscape from the observation car. Broke my journey for 3 days at Jasper (catching next train) and extended my stay in Vancouver, a lovely city, by 5 days before flying back to the UK. Have always promised myself a return trip one day.
It’s a wonderful trip, I’ve done this trip at least 10 times decades ago when I was in my 20’s. I lived in Ontario then hopped on the train to move to Vancouver. I’m thrilled it’s back in motion.
Mentioning the prices is helpful as it helps others in their preparation/planning/decision-making. The journey is simply incredible even if the price is high.
Your videos never fail to make me smile. Your enthusiasm radiates through the camera, been watching A LOT of your videos lately. A good fill for my travel bug, when travel isn't possible. Thanks Jeb!
That section coming out of Kamloops to the lake, is still one of the most amazing memories I have. I genuinely cried as I was overwhelmed by how beautiful that lake is.
Of all the journeys that I’ve watched you both take over the time I followed your channel. This was by far one of my most favorite.. The way you articulate everything that Canada truly is resonates with me because I’m proud to be Canadian. Ontario is my backyard and we have so much to showcase so to have Susan and yourself speak so highly of us just makes me feel overwhelmed with joy. Thank you for joining us on the Canadian and we hope to see you again soon.
Autumn is the best time (if budget is not an issue) to do this type of train travel in Canada. Summer is all-green and wildfires, and the winter is majestic but will get boring also. The fall colours are a sight to behold here, especially when riding the trans Canadian railways.
I love going through the mountains in the winter. As a western Canadian, I have the luxury of having made the trip many times; I love the quiet and glow that goes along with those vistas in the winter.
@@rondaallen7211 this month, October. Early November is okay too, but mid-October would be a safer bet because surely most of the trees colours aren’t “summer green” anymore.
@@skiergirl4753 yeah winter looks magical as well. I like it too, I’m just picking Autumn because of the temperature, feels just about right for me. But yeah visually, winter looks stunning too 👍
@@jan_07 for sure! As I said, it is my home, so I have the luxury of knowing the area and what to expect (and, loving snow - I grew up in the Caribbean so relish every day of snow)
I work as an engineer on the Edmonton to Jasper Corridor for CN. The views never get old. It is truly magical. In fact, you were on the via that was stuck behind my slow train going into Jasper 🤣
I did this 4 years ago from Vancouver to Toronto with my best friend... except we did it on the cheapest possible ticket! No beds, just reclining seats. It was definitely an experience! Great video!
I grew up in Vancouver but had family in Calgary (where I live now). My family made the drive through the Rockies almost every year. It’s absolutely breathtaking. My friend who lives in Vancouver also worked this train during the trip from Vancouver to Banff, and we made plans for me to drive and meet here there when she had a stay over before the next trip. Absolutely wonderful!
After the devastating fire that destroyed so much of Jasper , it is so fortunate to see the beauty as it was when you both travelled through. I was on a student exchange trip with 7 other students from my Vancouver high school in August of 1966. We travelled east to Winnipeg where we were billeted. It was an amazing experience for this 17 year old then. At 74 , you have me considering treating myself a Prestige journey.
I love the idea of including prices, you can still put in the disclaimer that prices fluctuate. It's helpful for those watching. Another beautiful video❤
My wife and I did this trip from Vancouver to Toronto in September of 2011. Great fall colors. This was back when ViaRail had great weekly specials that came out the same day each week. We were not in prestige class but we had a bedroom at 75% off. We paid $500 each rather than $2000 each. Great dream trip that we had talked about for a few years. I read those weekly emails for a few months before this one showed up and we jumped on it. Keep your eyes open. There are bargains out there!
You guys are so humble and so nice. First time I've seen your videos and just want to say thank you for allowing us to experience this journey with you.
Humble and insincere. How much do you think this trip costs? Way more than a round trip to the Caribbean and a premium cruise, that's for sure. Probably 5 of those. That's Canada
This takes me back to the 1980’s when my mom and I went on a trip via Amtrak to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the western United States. I think we were on the train for 2-3 weeks and could only afford economy seating and back then that was plenty comfortable as crime and opinions were not very strong yet. One of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences of my human experience. Your video makes me want to explore Canada more by train now.
I just wanted to say that this was a great video! I really appreciate how you brought the audience in to share everything, your appreciation for great service and the heavenly created beauty you encountered and, frankly, your positive nature and the love you have for one another as a couple. Just great.
I took this trip many years ago and had the best experience ever. I can't imagine that it is much different now. So I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see the provinces ❤
In 2017, I packed up my little car, and me, my son and my Maltese drove from Alaska to the Adirondacks in NY. It took us 5.5 days. What a beautiful trip!!! The plains were gorgeous! I'd love to take the train through Canada.
@@theone2be33 Through Canada, we went above the speed limit, of course. But we drove from 6-7am until sometimes midnight. We camped each night and didn't stop to be tourists. Stopped for gas and food. It would have taken much longer to drive to NY through the states.
As a Canadian from Ontario just west of Toronto and one who enjoys watching youtube videos regarding the Canadian, you did well! Thanks to you both for a great video.
Took this train from Vancouver to Montreal in 1962, when I was 12. And back to Vancouver in 1965. Then once again in 1985. Thoroughly enjoyable back then. It's good see that it hasn't changed that much even though i have!
I live on Vancouver Island & have family in Alberta so have driven back & forth through these mountains dozens & dozens of times, & yes, they are magnificent. I've also lived in Toronto & driven there & back more than a few times, so know how gorgeous -- & big! -- this country is. So glad you enjoyed your trip. Your video is wonderful & my husband & I enjoyed every bit of it (especially the menus! 🙂). We recently took early retirement to spend more time together & have been talking about indulging ourselves with this trip; your video has guaranteed we will. Thank you!
This is one of the best videos I've seen on youtube. What amazing, documentary quality. Of course, the lovely subject matter helps! Such spectacular scenery. This was simply wonderful. I can't even articulate how much I enjoyed it. 😂 Thank you for taking us with you.
Wife and I took that trip about 7 years ago. Loved as you did but the only difference was we left Toronto around 9 at night. We you go through that tunnel and all of a sudden the Rockies are there was just breathtaking. Highly recommend that trip.
47 years ago my family of 5 rode this rail. We loved it and got close to the people who helped everyone. They let us use a room to wash up in instead of the community bathroom.
Have never had chills this many times watching a TH-cam video. Thank you for that. You’re clearly incredible at what you do- documenting, storytelling, sharing your genuine experiences with your loved one. 🫡
The train actually broke down at one point, but she fixed it with a gum wrapper, 2 paperclips, and a sock. Seriously though, what a great well done video; looks like a beautiful trip.
It’s a magnificent journey. I did it last October in a sleeper plus single cabin and loved every minute. Whilst I missed out on some daylight I made up for it with the autumn colours. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
My grandparents did this train for their 40th anniversary in ‘91… I’ve heard about it my entire life but, being only 1 year old when it happened, I have no memory of them experiencing it at the time. This was a treat to watch :)
Back in 1982 I took this train on its old route from Montreal to Vancouver with planned stops in Winnipeg and Calgary. I traveled solo, and it was a fantastic experience. It was a post high school graduation present for myself ( class of ‘81). It was a segment of a rail trip that started in Baltimore and ended in Spokane where I spent a week with my sister before flying back east. Would love to do this trip now.
Everything on the interior of the train must have changed drastically? What a beautiful ride. Will always be out of reach financially for me. But fortunately I get to live through other's vicariously.
I found it quite amusing when you said you had the furthest thing from local food when you had the ginger beef....Ginger beef was a recipe invented in Calgary Alberta in the 70s....so yes it was local food :D
1:45 -- This is always the most exciting part of any rail journey; getting to see the train! After that, it all drops off pretty sharply. In fact, after I've seen the train, I often just go home.
I was teaching in Houston Tx. in the late 2000s and decided to make this trip during spring break. Due to the length of my break and wanting to spend 3 days in Vancouver, I started my trip in Winnipeg, Manitoba and travel to Vancouver. I was really impressed by this trip. The scenery in Jasper was unbelievable. It looked like postcard. The people I met on the train was very friendly. I learned a lot about Canada from the Canadians I met.
Hey man I'm Canadian and I love to see that you like our trains. You and her always seem positive about everything in life. Thanks so much for the content and love, love your videos. Keep it up guys!
So glad you got to experience this! I'm a frequent VIA Rail traveller for business, love the reliable service, smooth travel experience, very infrequent weather related delays compared to flying. Cheers!
Jasper was a beautiful town and the architecture was just breathtakingly beautiful Canada always has so much beautiful architecture. Everything looks so clean and nice there.

Thanks. I Unsubscribed for that very reason
Wow 4500 per person ouch
We wondered where you guys had been. Great video again. Yes adding the price is a great addition to your info. Once again thanks for giving us something to look forward to.
I think including prices is good since it helps those wanting to go on these kinds of trips know what kind of budget they will be working with. Though, for people like me, I’m here for the adventure and views. I can’t really afford these kinds of trips, so going on an adventure vicariously through you has been fantastic!

He has since left the world, but the memories of that trip and the fantastic photos remain. Thanks, Dad!!

(Prices went up by $150. across the board just a few days later for the 'high' season.)
I wouldn't recommend staying in your own private cabin, for the very reason that it causes you to be a lot less social with your fellow travellers.
(Next time, I think I'll do it from Vancouver to Toronto!)
This is the train journey of a lifetime and I highly recommend it.

I think you saw the best scenery passing through Banff and Revelstoke.

My friend who lives in Vancouver also worked this train during the trip from Vancouver to Banff, and we made plans for me to drive and meet here there when she had a stay over before the next trip. Absolutely wonderful!
I need a bucket of $100.00 dollar bills to add this to my bucket list! Spectacular scenery and beautiful train!❤
They actually paid $4500 US 15:13...not $2000!!!!!
That is ridiculously expensive !!!
That's Canada
america needs more wholesome people like this
This takes me back to the 1980’s when my mom and I went on a trip via Amtrak to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the western United States. I think we were on the train for 2-3 weeks and could only afford economy seating and back then that was plenty comfortable as crime and opinions were not very strong yet. One of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences of my human experience. Your video makes me want to explore Canada more by train now.
Yes, definitely include pricing. This helps others who are possibly planning a trip like this.
Watch the video, they do mentioned pricing
It is only... starting at $6222 Canadian per person 🤣This is something I will never experience.
I just wanted to say that this was a great video! I really appreciate how you brought the audience in to share everything, your appreciation for great service and the heavenly created beauty you encountered and, frankly, your positive nature and the love you have for one another as a couple. Just great.
Amen to that. You two seem like you would be a great couple to travel with.
I took this trip many years ago and had the best experience ever. I can't imagine that it is much different now. So I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see the provinces ❤
Love how enthusiastic and honest you both are about the experience - really adds to the video and journey!
In 2017, I packed up my little car, and me, my son and my Maltese drove from Alaska to the Adirondacks in NY. It took us 5.5 days. What a beautiful trip!!! The plains were gorgeous! I'd love to take the train through Canada.
5 days from Alaska to NY? Were you speeding?
@@theone2be33 Through Canada, we went above the speed limit, of course. But we drove from 6-7am until sometimes midnight. We camped each night and didn't stop to be tourists. Stopped for gas and food. It would have taken much longer to drive to NY through the states.
Epic
Wow! Thanks so very much!
Wife and I took that trip about 7 years ago. Loved as you did but the only difference was we left Toronto around 9 at night. We you go through that tunnel and all of a sudden the
Rockies are there was just breathtaking. Highly recommend that trip.
Price is an important thing when you are travelling . As a senior citizen it is a must ! This sounds like a wonderful trip .
So well said and very true!!
The train actually broke down at one point, but she fixed it with a gum wrapper, 2 paperclips, and a sock. Seriously though, what a great well done video; looks like a beautiful trip.
🤣
😂❤
It’s a magnificent journey. I did it last October in a sleeper plus single cabin and loved every minute. Whilst I missed out on some daylight I made up for it with the autumn colours. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
One of my favorite part is watching you guys eat. I am literally drooling.
You took the trip alone? How safe did it feel for you?
@@rhondamoore3821 Very safe, the people was very friendly and helpful.
Cheers!
Thank you much for sharing your experiences on the rails. Very good production too. recommended. So enjoyable to watch
Suzanne is the travel blogger I didn’t know I needed! I love seeing the two of you get so giddy over things I’ve taken for granted when traveling.
Like freedom?
Jasper was a beautiful town and the architecture was just breathtakingly beautiful Canada always has so much beautiful architecture. Everything looks so clean and nice there.
