Daily commuter here. So good advise.

You're definitely right about forward planning, that definitely gets overlooked. Rushing to get things together before a ride is never good and adds stress. Having enough rest is also key in order to ride daily

My apparel goes from 4 jackets in the cold to a t shirt in the warm lol, great video!!

The vast majority of my riding is commuting. I pretty much use the same gear year round. The only change I'd make is a mesh jacket for the summer. I carry rain gear, spare helmet, spare gloves, plug kit as I have a RT with the 49L topcase. I work for a university, so there's not real dress code. I don't get paid enough to wear a tie. When I first got the job, I rode every day for 8 months as I didn't get a parking assignment right away. Temps ranged from 30's to 117, rain, shine, whatever. I also carried a liter of water.

Pretty solid advice especially for someone like me who's total work commute is 60 miles a day

Yeah man! Top case ... my bike is a bagger, so it came with saddlebags, but the tour pack is awesome! I can carry my laptop bag in there so it's not on my back :D
    I should probably carry more.

I used to commute to work but now I’m work at home. So for me i now basically just ride when I want to ride and I gotta say I miss the daily commute.

Thanks for the video. I rarely commute to work but it happens now and then. Top case is really good I have mine on all the time. And for the daily carried tools. Tire repair kit, a small air compressor, spare fuses and also a spare battery for the key fob. Duct tape and some zip-ties first aid kit and a plate for the side stand.

Commuting over here in South Africa is a dangerous sport, mostly full gear all the time, but bikes are not high on the lookout list and not many people commute with bikes except if needed, this is for survival purposes mostly and sadly.

Hey TBRD, I was watching your channel as I was deciding to get the new XR. I enjoyed your videos. Haven't seen any content since early summer, do you still have the bike?

I ride my bike to work. Good stuff Sir. The worst thing for me was my hair. It sucked to have helmet head. I'd get to work, pull gear off and I'd have a travel sized bottle of hair gel in my desk drawer. Go to the restroom every morning and wet the hair, ruffle it up to get rid of the helmet head and apply some hair gel. I absolutely hated having to go to the restroom every morning to "freshen up" 🤣 but it's the price you pay if you wanna ride. Made me want to shave my head bald 😂

Hahaha. This is so true and hits home for me. The worst part of my commute is dealing with my hair and I, too, have a hand towel and some gel in my desk drawer to address the situation.

One pieces is a must in my opinion for commuters. I tried everything when I first started commuting year round several years ago and nothing was practical for me . I got tired real quick of carry clothes and changing before and after work. I went with a Aerostich and love it . In and out in less than a minute in my top case and done.Gortex waterproofing so no need to carry rain gear. I am going to buy another one the light version for the summer months soon.

Motorcycle commuting... Better than walking or using public transportation, no matter the weather.

I've been using a soft tail bag and it's not quite doing the job so seriously considering going for a top case. Your BMW small top case almost looks like it's colour-matched to your bike ands looks really good! Is it worth the exorbitant price BMW charges for it?

I don't think the bmw top and side cases are worth it at all. Very expensive (as in, double the price of Shad/Givi) and they're just not well designed, at least aesthetically speaking.
