    I went to my BMW dealer 3 times to buy an RR. I was going to use the RR for long distance. The BMW dealer NEVER told me the XR was an RR for long distance. I went in the past weekend to buy the RR and ended up with the XR. Rode it 120 miles on Sunday - and it's possibly the best purchase decision I ever made.

    Hey Josh - some more excellent content - thankyou. One of the things BMW didn't tell me was how confidence inspiring, agile and rock solid the thing is when pushing on through the twisties. Always puts a smile on my face :)

      Hi dude
      I get my 2022 xr1000 a weak ago ,and I have a strong vibration when I use front brake! It is still on running in prosedure,I made 830 km yet! Did you had this problem with your bike ? Thanks

    • @GGBP14
      @GGBP14 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@halitengin5166 I have over 10,000 miles on it now (I ride a lot) and have had zero problems with the breaking. If you’re getting a lot of vibration in the front break, give it a good once over. Make sure nothing is rubbing against the sides of the pads or stuck between the pad and rotor. If you’re handy with tools, you could always loosen the caliper a little and squeeze the break a few time the tighten them back up. Sometimes the caliper get out of alignment a little.

    I agree with every point made. I chose all black luggage on mine which does match the bike. One thing the dealer didn’t tell me was that although I bought the TE version at £18,000, the tyre pressure monitoring system is not standard but an optional extra, on a bike costing this much I was slightly disappointed it wasn’t included, however in saying that it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned and absolutely love it !! Ride safe

      Yeah...I think in the end BMW needs to address a few small odds and ends...when you are paying 20+ for a bike I don't want to have to add things on like you said. That said...this bike is very much on the same level of my MTS and I enjoy the engine and how the speed builds on this bike so much!

    I can definitely agree about the self canceling system. It works really great. The only minus is if you started the indicator to early it has canceled before you reach the place to turn. If you for some reason want to start indicating so early you have to remember to indicate twice.

      Caught me out a few times, thought I hadn't switched it on properly. A lot of cars here indicate about 0.5 seconds before they turn (the others don't bother at all).

    • @JoonesAdventuresMC
      @JoonesAdventuresMC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s probably the same in most parts of the world. For us it’s extra important to be clear off our intentions. But one of the most dangerous is to forget to cancelling the right indicator.

    I made my commitment to buy one today. And after doing that, found this video, and it’s like a kind of “certification”, that my decision is right . I’m changing from a SDGT which is an awesome bike, but KTM has to solve some electronic issues that are annoying to happen on a motorcycle of this range of price and sophistication. I got fed up of the constant false alarm messages of several serious failures that as a matter of fact haven’t occurred, but when you get that on your screen you never know if something is wrong or not. Anyway I wasn’t in the mood to risk going out with the bike and one day, one of those messages become true and I could get in trouble riding the bike because I neglected those messages falsely considering that they were once more an electronic malfunction. I lived with the SDGT and enjoyed it a lot but I’m not available to be all the time at the dealership asking them to verify and resetting the system, it doesn’t make any sense for me.
    By the other hand I tested the S1000 RX 2022 model, and found the riding perfect. The engine it’s like a gentle giant or a monster that behaves with a quite ampler range of manners depending just on what we ask from it. Lovely. If you want to run it like an hooligan it will do it, but if you want it to run in a civilized way, it will do it too without any complaints. That’s more the thing that I’m into this days.
    The SDGT would do everything too, but not so smoothly like a four cylinder motorbike does. I truly think that I’ve made an up grade on my two wheels fast machine. ✌️✌️

    For 2021 adaptive lights is part of the sports package. Still going a bit slower at night is okay by me. I have yet to see a video review over the last few years that did not really praise the engine. For a few KTM riders it did not have enough low end grunt. However, just crank the throttle It begs you to push for more speed. The cam quick shift is absolutely a dream (zero to speeding ticket) if you forget🤣. Note there are two service intervals the first 1000 miles It is after the 600 mile break-in that BMW gives you the full use of the power band. And of course you are back at the dealer ship before you know it for that 1000 mile fluids change. This is my second 1000 and I have 2017 and a 2021 in 2020 BMW did fix a number of small things that make the bike even more perfect. I also selected the low suspension and low seat as I have a 30" inseam which makes handling the bike a lot easier at stop lights and parking. Did you get the maintenance free chain. I am still looking for someone that has put some mileage on their bike that has this option.

    • @ThrottleBackRubberDown
      @ThrottleBackRubberDown  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the maintenance free chain but I am suspect. The stock chain is the worst chain I have ever seen and I have owned a lot of bikes. I am going to get my miles on it and then replace with something nicer. When I am riding at night I slow down quite a bit. I prefer to not ride at night if I can avoid it.

    TFP....even though my package included them...the daytime running lights would have looked sweet but like the adaptive lights BMW didn't file the paperwork. They really look sharp and I hope they will be available in the future...I wonder if Ducati had the same issue. 2nd thing would be BMW needs to have a tutorial on chain adjustment for this specific bike. There are a lot of variables the manual doesn't cover...for instance, the chain tightens slightly when tightening the axel nut

    Man, i dropped it today, like you also... Aahhhh, luckily it was on a soft ground (with some grass). No damage, no scratches, nothing! Basically i find out XR kind of heavy to manage/maneuver while static or starting to move. This is because it is tall, and it's different/strange gas at take off. What happened earlier is i stopped on a uphill place in front of stop sign and waiting to join the road. I was with the girlfriend and all 3 cases on the bike, soooo full elephant mode. 😀 While i was giving the gas to start joining the street, the bike started naturally leaning cause of the angle of the road i was joining from. Out of a sudden the bike stalled, turned off (that strange starting gas XR has, kind of difficult yet to adapt to) and we started leaning way too much. I held the bike luckily and gf jumped of and helped me return it back upwards. 😀
    What today happened is that i tried climbing the bike on those centre stands but it was half on the asphalt and half on the soft ground. So i lost the feeling of where the bike is while trying to mount it and it started to lean away from me (can't hold it, no balance when you stand next to it, really 😀 ). I naturally couldn't hold it enough because my legs started flying in the air and i "gently" dropped it on the ground. 😀 I was stressed for couple of mins, not really smiling like now. But the bike is totally fine, and it's just an experience for further situations... 👍
    So, these are my two things BMW didn't tell me:
    - careful when you take off with your gf behind 😀
    - careful when you park your bike 😀

    • @ThrottleBackRubberDown
      @ThrottleBackRubberDown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man. Really sorry to hear that. It is the worst feeling in the world. My incident was such a freak thing but that is how it happens. Glad you are all okay which is all that matters in the end. The bike is tall for sure. I have noticed the bike is so quiet and it takes a bit more "revs" when doing low speed maneuvers than some of my previous machines to be confident that she won't stall while manipulating the clutch.

    The BMW luggage for the S1000xr is very poor imo. The top box doesn't look great and the prices are slightly ridiculous. I ended up getting a Shad SH59X (with the aluminium top). It's got a lower profile from the side unless you jack it up into the full 59 litre size (expandable). Cost less than half the BMW box even including the rack attachment.

    The display on your bike shows “ROAD” for the riding mode.
    Why don’t you switch it to “DYNAMIC PRO”?
    In DYNAMIC PRO riding mode, the S1000XR turns into a race bike, my preferred riding mode.
    A German motorbike magazine tested the acceleration of the S1000XR model 2020 to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
    In ROAD riding mode the S1000XR is way too tame.

      Oh yeah...very clear difference in Dynamic and if you have all the settings right Dynamic Pro but when I am riding in that cold of weather I always ride road mode to have the extra electronic support as there is often times isolated ice etc since it is 5-10 degrees below freezing.
