@@mattbeidleman6799 Companies (the bakeries in this case) typically pay the influencer to plug them. At the end of the day, the bakeries did not have to go beyond budget (if they did) and they're not paying her. She doesn't have the responsibility to plug them. 😊
I really appreciate the consistency of the second baker. They always do really clean, flawless, above and beyond cakes. I'm truly amazed by them each time.
Aye their work is always on point, they know their limitations and execute beautiful return that you don't need to worry it will have issues. The reaper one was absolutely incredible! This one is so sweet and old timey. It is that soft, warm and cosy idea of Christmas. The tree was a really nice tidy being properly 3D
I would love to see a video like this where the bakeries are told that they can't use fondant, that could really show their resourcefulness and talent. I feel like they rely fondant far too much, to the point where the fondant to cake ratio is out of wack. If I were to order a cake like these for my family, they would think it's pretty but half of the cake would be essentially thrown in the trash as none of us like fondant.
I loved the grinch but most of it wasn't cake. I thought the bottom portion was cake but knowing the top part is the cake and it's covered in fondant, I don't think it would serve too many. It's an insanely beautiful and impressive sculpture but I think cake 2 takes the win on this one.
They all look wonderful, but i have to say, cake number 2 is the best for me, for a 500$ cake, you'd expect a lot of cake + cool design, in which this decorator achieved. It reminds me of old christmas movies too which brings a nostalgic feeling. Also, the fact that it lights up meaning, there's some engineering involved in it which showcase the talent that this cake decorator have. Other cakes looks incredible too. The third one is amazing, but i was a bit disappointed that the mountain part wasnt a cake. I thought its gonna be cake for sure. It would have been so amazing if it was a cake too. The first cake on the other hand, looks really cute and has a flavor that i would love the most out of all the three.
As the cakes grew more elaborate I knew with 4.5 million subscribers there was no way none of the bakeries realised what was going on. But even if it's not an "organic" result, the talent they showcase here is incredible.
All three are definitely awesome. Cake #1 was not well enough supported, hence, as you said, drooping fondant. Which for $500 shouldn’t have happened. They should definitely know about cake structure/construction. Cake #2 is my huge FAVE!! FAVE !! FAVE!!! I mean the WHOLE truck was cake, and completely flawless. A contemporary classic Christmas themed cake. They nailed it. Cake #3, although a show stopper, and very impressive, I mean for $500, you got very little cake. When you cut the box open and revealed, I assumed the bottom mountain would be cake….nope. Just the Grinch sack. That’s a lota mula for a very small cake and lump of fondant and icing snow.
Yes. My thoughts exactly. I was thinking all of these as well. Also #3 cake had the least christmasy flavour. I mean I like chocolate & peanutbutter but it doesn't exactly make me think of Christmas. I actually think that all of these bakeries tend to have flavour problem for theme in all of the challenges. #2 cake is my favourite as well. I mean if I pay $500 for a crazy Christmas cake, I want it be all that with flavour included. When I think Chirstmas flavours I think of caramel, cranberry, lingonberry, plum, mulled wine, rich chocolate, orange, gingerbread, almond and all of the spices.
I'm not a baker or anything, but my thoughts exactly when it came to the third cake or a lot of cakes made this extravagant. It's usually such a small piece of cake with a crazy decoration. $500+ dollars for a cake that can maybe feed 20-30 people seems extreme. Especially with the cardboard and the slices being so small. Then again, slices being small means more people can enjoy it. either way, I love all of the cakes. #1 and #2 were my favorite
Agreed. Disappointing that the grinch cave part itself is not also cake-that’s what I would expect to be cake, no the grinch’s sack. I suppose the cave structure must be hiding the ballast to keep the sled from toppling over. Still, disappointing. :/
Yup and those tiers were so shallow! I mean if anything the brace for support would be a crntrsl colum in a sugar if wood. I was thinking if it is a steel rod it can have either a 10x 10cm or thicker wood that would be drilled down so it sides in. Drill in screws from underneath to attach to the base. That would leave a huge area for the cliff to be cake. I personally would have preferred to cut the mountain up to feed guests and leave the sleigh to be viewed by guests. Then the person it is for or who bought it can have the sleigh. Like that makes more sense to me. I mean imagine it cut. No sack on the sleigh and an intact lower section just seems odd. Don't get me wrong I love the cake design overall and it is very cool.
Maybe the next time you do a video like this you can also make one yourself for the same challenge and same budget and just see how your ideas compare to the ones you are paying for ☺️ I feel like you have so many neat ideas when you are going through looking at these cakes I would love to see what you come up with for the same challenge.
1st cake is impressive and a really good improvement from their previous ones. The 2nd baker is clean, detailed, and very consistent. I have no words for the 3rd one. That one is definitely worth over $500!!
I'd love to see bakers who create Swiss Roll cakes/cake rolls with a theme inside, a design, so that when you cut a slice, you get the image that was baked into the cake, with cake. So the image isn't just on the inside of the cake but also the outside. If that makes sense. :)
next time you do a challenge, have someone else order the cakes. That way they don't know it's for you tube and you will get a cake they would regularly make for $ 500.00. Not a you tube challenge. These bakeries did an awesome job though, way better than last year. love your channel and watch it soon as you put a new one up. My take out: The second bakery is great!!!. They would deliver incredible cakes consistently, even not knowing they were being displayed on TH-cam. I would love to know the name of that bakery.
I didn't think the first cake could be beat (the elevation, detail, color and luxurious 'feel), and then Kevin brought out the second cake and it was amazing (the lights, the TREE, the snow). And then, he brought the heavyweight to the table (the Grinch, detail, gravity defying structure). They're all spectacular! Honestly, this is one of my favorite series, and in my opinion, these were the best so far. Just wow!
I think they realize because they're told to do what they want. Most people buying an expensive cake have an idea of what they want or a picture for inspiration. I prefer the comparison videos where 3 bakeries make the same cake
Absolutely love the creativity and the execution of all the cakes😊 however…I’m certain that if the bakeries had no clue that their cakes would be featured on a popular TH-cam channel the cakes would not have turned out as extravagant for that type of price tag.
1st cake was cute but I would totally be upset with it falling apart. 2nd cake was my favorite. I loved the truck with tree and presents in the back. 3rd cake the Grinch looked funky and so did the girl in the Santa bag. Also I would have expected the bottom to be cake. I would not be happy if I received that little cake for $500
This was fun, but I'm sad the bakeries knew. That means they made cakes for youtube, not the average customer. It's hard to know if these are $500 cakes and it's not as fun when everything is perfect.

They knew already though. Her channel is too big and the videos are too popular for it to be a secret, especially since she uses a small pool of local bakeries.
Amazing cakes. All 3 did such an incredible job but I think I like the first 2 cakes the best as they were fully edible. The grinch cake was so well sculpted but the sled base wasn't edible Also was the bottom of the grinch cake cake as well? If not $500 for that little bundle of ake at the top might be worth it for me. When I think $500 for a ame I would expect to feed an army.
That second cake would have been my dad's dream cake. He absolutely adored old trucks like that. Sadly he passed 3 years ago in his 50s. We actually have a toy red truck with a little Christmas tree in the bed on his headstone.
Holy wow! The artists have improved over the year. These are absolutely Incredible. They were great before but I'm blown away. These cakes are way over 500$ cakes. They def went above and beyond. I think that they should make some sort of New Year cake, with lights and fireworks and the ball dropping. Maybe make the ball actually move up and down like when we count. And champagne bottles. I think it would be so cool. But anyways, great video, beautiful cakes. Which cake is your favorite tho?
Am I the only person who would be really disappointed if I paid that much for a cake and only 25% of it was actually edible? They look great but I'm so confused
I completely agree. Everyone in the comments is eating it up and saying you'd have to pay way more than that if it wasn't for TH-cam...why? For like 8 slices? Fondant is disgusting and..lazy. You can make it look cool but with all that detail...just make Christmas decorations? Why should a cake look like that? A lot of these people are talking as if they're knowledgeable on the subject and I'm sure they are but I just wonder where they live. I used to be a cake decorator in a really nice bakery, our cakes were expensive buy nothing like $500 for 2 little 6" rounds. It takes skill to sculpt things out of fondant, I'm not denying their skill but...it all just goes it the bin and never looks better than beautiful icing work Imo.
I was looking for a comment about this! With the Grinch cake, when Kevin said “that’s the cake part” about the sack of presents I was confused.. $500 for a little cake!? I understand how beautiful and amazing it is but also if you’re paying for a cake you expect to receive cake lol
@@CrissyDee95 then you should give much more instruction like for how many people....She said just crazy over the top which they really are. It takes a lot of skills to sculpt such cakes and also lot of time.
@@CrissyDee95 for one they said over the top amazing cakes and it’s hard to do that without fondant and stuff last time they didn’t say that so it was more “cake”
I totally appreciate and love your honesty about how the bakeries now finally know it’s for youtube and that it‘ll probably show in their cakes 👍🏼🥰 it’s unfortunate but was bound to happen, it‘s just a sign of how big your channel has become which is good because you absolutely deserve it, Laurie! Merry Christmas to you and Kevin ❤️
I agree!!! But unfortuately because of liability, I can't. If I say something wrong, or if you all feel negatively towards someones work, that could negatively impact their business. In this series I have had countless cakes completely collapse and fall apart. Including in this video after filming. Cake have also gone spoiled, been the wrong flavor, and simply tasted bad. I want this series to be honest and open both with my review, and your guys review in the comments. BUT I will be doing a final video to this series at some point, and reveal the most used incredible bakers I adore. Because I want nothing more than to support them!
@@TheIcingArtist oh no! A final video means this series will eventually end! I‘m not ready for this, i love this series with all my heart (and stomach 😅)
Ok! I was wondering about that as well. Now that you explained it, it makes sense (sadly). I can't wait til you do reveal some of them bc they are legit amazing!
@@TheIcingArtist I def get and appreciate that fact. We don't want to "shame" any bakers. But as so many are commenting, it was more "fun" when the bakers didn't know it was going to be for YT and they stuck to the budget of what they'd charge an average customer. I understand they are getting recognized (as they comment in post, take credit for theirs, etc.) but it gives the false narrative that any person could walk into their bakeries and pay $500 to get those masterpieces!!! I LOVE this series--it's my FAV of anything. Just wish it would go back to "stick to the budget" and either 1. they don't get to be revealed good or bad or 2. they do and get credit for it (good or bad). LIke, if you screw up, that's on you--so make it good and steady/stable.
This was amazing! Such talented bakers! I would love to see a New Years theme next! Also maybe a fantasy one (like dragons, unicorns etc.) or a boy’s birthday one! Maybe a rainforest theme as well. A fashion theme. A house theme.
They were all extremely amazing. I loved the red truck the best. I wish I could have known what was cake and what was just support. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking.
I had to stop what I was doing and sit down and give this episode the attention it deserved! I’m in awe of all three cakes! I could sit and look at them longer than I’d like to admit!
The 1st cake had me at like OMG! it can't get better and then I saw the 2nd and was like ehh okay cool. That third cake, mathematically I have no idea how she did that. That is the most amazing cake. There's no way, I'm just in complete aww. I'm glad the bakeries finally know they're on TH-cam because they deserve all this love and business, frankly they're amazing.
The last one 😍 But I do love The Grinch, watched it for like the 8th time this year yesterday on my birthday haha, I've watched it so many times and it's my favorite Christmas movie!
They turned out GREAT! And to defend the middle cake baker a little coffee cake doesn’t have coffee in it, but instead is generally served with coffee. It’s not usually a dessert though. More frequently it’s a breakfast item. My kids were so excited to see the coffee cake as it’s their favorite.
Oh My!! I cannot choose which is the best! I really love the Red Truck, but holy Christmas Batman!! The Grinch cake is defying gravity!! That is a cake you would see on a Food Network challenge. This bakery pulled no punches.
Didn't you hear her? The sleigh is structurally sound because its metal and the mountains under it aren't even cake! They're styrofoam. The only cake part of that whole thing is the red sack. Which is cool and all but for $500 I'd expect more actual cake. 🤷🏼♀️ #Truckcake4thewin
For those of us who are not even almost creative, I say bravo to ALL the bakeries, those cakes took HOURS/ DAYS, and all the cakes are for sure $500 easily, and more importantly EARNED!??? I am more than impressed with all the creativity, and attention to detail…. Thanks Laurie love watching all that you do… 😍
These cakes are incredible but I cant help thinking that it's simply because they knew they were going to be on youtube, this is definitely not what average customers are going to get for $500
I'd love to see Laurie attempt a vegan/gluten free cake. I made one for my wedding and there were so many issues to sort through but I was pleased with the final results and I bet she'd smash it!
I love seeing bakers go all out. I actually think the odd video of them knowing will truly let the bakers shine, and you should still do a handful, but I also love them not knowing! That red truck though 😍. Can easily be recreated on a smaller scale for a smaller price, closer to that $500.
WE WRE GOING TO NEED ANOTHER TRYING 500 CHRISTMAS CAKE VIDEOOO THIS WAS JUST TOO GOOD I NEED TO SEE ANOTHER THREE CAKES NOWWWW (everyone like this comment)
These were definitely the best cakes you got since you started this challenge, they are all so amazing. I gasped at all of them...great job to all the bakeries that made them
The 2nd cake with presents in the back. The blue present wrapping paper is clip art by another artistic TH-camr Mira Byler. Loved all the cakes. Last one by far was the most amazing.
Best EVER!! Holy cow! How about natural disaster cakes? A tornado, a flood, etc? But anyhow, whoever did those cakes ...... MASSIVE talent! Merry Christmas to you and Kevin!
All 3 cakes were amazing but I have to say the first one is my favorite so whimsical and creative! I just love the cute little bears and the snow globe
I don’t even like cake but watching you get so excited over the cake and your heartwarming essence invoice just makes me so happy. When you upload these videos it’s like my comfort video to just watch and relax too. I love your contacts so much thank you for being such a bright light on TH-cam
I love these cakes so much! I think these are the best ones of the series but i feel like the reason for that is that they knew. I dont think a customer would get these for 500$ usually.
Hey Laurie! You once did a video where you turned cupcakes into boujee cake truffles. Can we get a Christmas version with like chocolate cupcakes, maybe!?!? btw loved the video!!
oh wow, these bakeries really smashed it! they're so detailed and beautiful, way better than last year! although I did like the Santa cake :p good job bakeries ❤️💚
Well I'm BLOWN AWAY by these cakes, especially the Grinch/sled cake. I'm not a lover of chocolate/peanut butter cakes but I'm SALIVATING after seeing your reaction. I hope the baker and her husband are thrilled by your reaction! Happy holidays!
Video idea: Lauren and the bakeries should be given a theme or idea and a budget. Lauren creates a cake and the bakery creates a cake, both with the same idea and theme then see which one is better
I loved the first one! It looks really beautiful and cute, just like you said it's giving that cozy vibe so i like it. I didn't really liked the last cake as it only had a small portion of cake it was a bit disappointing.
I like the one with the tree in the middle the best. So beautiful so many details. They’re all amazing but wow! That first cake screamed cozy holiday to me.
I was just wondering what you do with these magical cakes after you've tasted? I would have to have them escorted out the door quickly or risk 100 pounds added to my hiney! You should record yourself gifting them if that's what you do. I can imagine the joy! Love your channel!
I wouldn't be able to cut these, they are just to amazing, and I'm so glad you said that they need to give you a side of the cake so that you don't have to cut into these. Incredible!!!
Most liked suggestion for these bakers, just might be made into a video!!! What should I challenge them to next?!

Am I the only person who would be really disappointed if I paid that much for a cake and only 25% of it was actually edible? They look great but I'm so confused
I thought the exact same thing! The Grinch was awesome, but only like 25% was even edible and half of that looked like fondant 🤮
Merry Christmas to you and Kevin ❤️
i clicked so fast!!
this series is my absolute favourite from this channel! ❤️ keep it up Laurie! x
Mine too!!! I LOVE seeing that these bakers come up with!
The second is the best .. so classic, warm and nostalgic.
I feel like she should credit these talented bakers , it will probably bring them more customers ,which they deserve 🥵👏
BUT also, the bakers post on the IGs about the video and comment on the videos. So watch out for them replying!!
You had me at "dragon"!!! Yes, please!!! Love the fantasy theme idea!!!
You should get the bakeries to do an insane new years 3d cake, next Laurie! 🎆 🎇
What
I saw the first two, especially that first one and thought nothing coupd beat it, but that last one? Oh my god!
*The first one was amazing but the 3rd one was just absolutely insane, whoever made them is incredibly talented* 👏🏻
All 3 cakes were AMAZING (especially the Grinch cake) but I have to say the Truck was my absolute favorite!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Dog on couch never flinches during the excitement! This house is always filled with joy. Also, love all these cakes.
All 3 are charming & exciting ...your passed out wooter on your sofa is also just darling! Love your fun channel! Merry Chrinkuss!! 🎄
The last one 😍
But I do love The Grinch, watched it for like the 8th time this year yesterday on my birthday haha, I've watched it so many times and it's my favorite Christmas movie!
Even when I’m not in the mood to watch cakes, I’m always in the mood to watch you! You’re so fun and charismatic, always make my day ☺️
They turned out GREAT!
Thanks Laurie love watching all that you do… 😍
These cakes are incredible but I cant help thinking that it's simply because they knew they were going to be on youtube, this is definitely not what average customers are going to get for $500
On the other hand, the customers who found them through these videos now have higher standards for what they're expecting from their cakes.
I'd love to see Laurie attempt a vegan/gluten free cake. I made one for my wedding and there were so many issues to sort through but I was pleased with the final results and I bet she'd smash it!
I second this. I always wanted to be a cake artist but then found out I'm celiac and casein intolerant. Wah wah..
I believe she's done a vegan one before.
@@tumble0weed You can still be a cake artist. You don't have to eat the products.
@@MargaritaOnTheRox some people are so sensitive that they can’t even be around the flour that might blow up in the wind…
I love seeing bakers go all out. I actually think the odd video of them knowing will truly let the bakers shine, and you should still do a handful, but I also love them not knowing! That red truck though 😍. Can easily be recreated on a smaller scale for a smaller price, closer to that $500.
#1- Loved the detail and not the size
#2-The size I would expect for $500- great details
#3-Your winner!!!!!
Thank you😊
WE WRE GOING TO NEED ANOTHER TRYING 500 CHRISTMAS CAKE VIDEOOO THIS WAS JUST TOO GOOD I NEED TO SEE ANOTHER THREE CAKES NOWWWW (everyone like this comment)
Love the grinch... A large grinch cakes be super cool
These were definitely the best cakes you got since you started this challenge, they are all so amazing. I gasped at all of them...great job to all the bakeries that made them
THIS WAS POSTED ON MY BIRTHDAY. lysm laurie ur videos make my day especially when you post on my birthday thanks so much
I loved the car cake!! I think it was my fav. My only suggestion to improve would be to do isomalt windows and put some characters inside
The 2nd cake with presents in the back. The blue present wrapping paper is clip art by another artistic TH-camr Mira Byler. Loved all the cakes. Last one by far was the most amazing.
Oh gosh, has it been a year since that last Christmas video? Time flies!
I live for the last cake . It's breath taking ...
Best EVER!! Holy cow! How about natural disaster cakes? A tornado, a flood, etc? But anyhow, whoever did those cakes ...... MASSIVE talent! Merry Christmas to you and Kevin!
oh my god these cakes specially the last one is awsoommeeeeee!!!!!
These cakes are AMAZING! Wish I could sample them, especially the peanut butter cake. My favorite. 🤤
It was sooooo tasty!!! Like a peanut butter cup cake!!
Grinch cake was my favorite for sure!!
No clear winner here, in my opinion they all won ! I for one wouldn’t be able to cut into one of those cakes, they are all so gorgeous!🎄💚🙃
Wow so so clever love them but the grinch was my favourite . Merry Christmas xo
If the first one wasn't drooping a little it would definitely be my fave just because of how christmassy it looks but all 3 look amazing!!
All 3 cakes were amazing but I have to say the first one is my favorite so whimsical and creative! I just love the cute little bears and the snow globe
I love Laurie's reaction to the last one so much xD
They are all triple wow-worthy, no lie, but the red truck has my heart…just love love love ❤️❤️❤️ it so so SO much!!!!!!!!!
Thank you 🙏🏽
@@artyoucaneat you are so so welcome!!
All 3 are beautiful but im with you that Grinch cake was Awesome.
Hey Laurie! You once did a video where you turned cupcakes into boujee cake truffles. Can we get a Christmas version with like chocolate cupcakes, maybe!?!? btw loved the video!!
I like that all 3 bakers were fully aware, they gave it their best and they did do great. Great video today 💕
I love this series!!🥰🥰 looking forward for a New Years one too!! 💕💕
These just keep getting better and better. That new bakery came in and made a name for themselves! Wow!
oh wow, these bakeries really smashed it! they're so detailed and beautiful, way better than last year! although I did like the Santa cake :p good job bakeries ❤️💚
Just finished the video!! The cakes were brilliant! I really loved the new bakeries cake!! 😋🥰💕
Omg! All of them are just amazing! My favourite, wait, they're all my favourite! Lol
Video idea:
Lauren and the bakeries should be given a theme or idea and a budget. Lauren creates a cake and the bakery creates a cake, both with the same idea and theme then see which one is better
*Laurie & she's done that before 🙃
WOW!!! They were all amazing cakes, but the last one was my favorite. They all did a great job.
Laurie’s reactions when she sees the cakes is priceless
I loved the first one! It looks really beautiful and cute, just like you said it's giving that cozy vibe so i like it. I didn't really liked the last cake as it only had a small portion of cake it was a bit disappointing.
“Congrats to everyone who is early and found this comment”🌟
They are all amazing but the grinch cake is just WOW 🤩
Yay! I love these comparison videos and I have been looking forward to the Christmas one!
Me too!!!! I couldn't wait for this video!! All year I've been waiting to do it!
The bakers who made these cakes must get a boost of confidence hearing her praise their work. They are so good. 😃😃
This year all the three Christmas cakes were epic!!!!
Forget all the bakers. KEVIN understands the assignment every time 😂😂😂
I absolutely love their dynamic as a couple and how sweet and silly they are together!
I would love to see Kevin taste them with you and see his reactions to the flavors etc :)
The truck was my favorite. All three were amazing, though. Definitely the best trio of cakes I’ve seen on this channel.
Thank you
Laurie “She understood the assignment”
Best part!!
