33:15 "I wonder if the glass would've eventually cracked under the heat." Yes, Evan. That's exactly what would happen! I know because it happened to me!!
YES!!!! My husband had left a candle going overnight & then he went to work without blowing it out…. The candle had been sitting on a glass vanity. Well the glass vanity busted, causing the candle to fall thru and shatter into pieces. Very close to an all out fire happening. (I was asleep when all this happened but I heard the glass breaking, luckily)
unrelated but I left a candle burning unattended for 2 minutes and it fell down near my Switch and burned a spot in the back of it right above the battery. almost as though it was mocking me

@@KetansaCreatesArt i understand where youre coming from, but wax isnt just wax. it can be made from a variety of things, like oil or plants, which in my book is a huge difference. and that's probably why this was so expensive, being plant-based, and that there's way cheaper options, that are crude oil based and toxic to burn.
Hi Evan and Katelyn! Wow! We are flattered that you chose Foton Pearled Candles to highlight and demonstrate! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our product! We would love to take a second to clarify a few things for you all and the viewers. 1. Good news, we are not drop shippers! :) We are proudly made in the USA, a family owned business in Fort Smith, Arkansas where we produce all our products in-house! While there are other alternatives out there, we stand behind our product (and the price) knowing that we offer the highest quality ingredients. Our pearls are made from highly purified, plant-based wax (no paraffin, phthalates or parabens), non-toxic, clean burning, readily biodegradable and compostable as well as kid/pet safe. We believe in the statement, “you get what you pay for”, and aim to provide high-quality, nontoxic candles to our consumers. 2. We do want to make it clear that we did not invent this type of candle nor claim to have! Many of us remember the sand candles from the 90s (which are simple paraffin beads), and we saw it as a way to potentially refill old candle jars to create a more sustainable way to enjoy candles. We improved on the composition and packaging, creating a plant-based version that’s nontoxic and has a longer burn time with consistent flames, and called our new and improved version, Pearled Candles. Our pearls actually burn longer than traditional candles with our 18 oz candle providing up to 120 hours of burn time! We also taught the world how pearled candles can be used to refill old candle jars, can be refreshed to look brand new every time you use it, and how they’re safer by self-extinguishing when knocked over or accidentally left burning. Love seeing you experience the safety aspect first-hand! 3. In regards to safety instructions, with the floating candles, we do recommend a minimum layer of 2 inches of pearls to keep the wick from reaching the water. The 1” of space should be between the bottom of the wick and the container you use. This way the wick will self-extinguish by just falling over before the heat reaches the container for safety. Again, we are so thankful you took the time out to do such an in-depth review of our products and glad you enjoyed using your imagination with Foton!
From a professional candle maker, your product looks amazing and the only reason the second option is cheaper is because it's paraffin wax, your definitely are priced appropriately for what you sell. Paraffin is incredibly toxic, especially for small pets like cats, I do NOT recommend using it, and honestly don't know how it's even legal. For those who don't know paraffin wax is made of crude oil, the same stuff that makes plastic and gasoline. When you burn paraffin wax it releases harmful chemicals (ex. carcinogenic benzene and toluene) that have been linked to causing lung cancer and asthma.
this reminds me of some candles my aunt always had at her house that were entirely transparent and made of a like... gel rather than a wax, she lit them once and they seemed to work like a normal candle and were filled with sea shells at the bottom. might be fun for you guys to try that as well!
omg my grandma had one as well!! but it had a very weird smell to it i remember. thank you for unlocking that memory i hadn’t thought about in years omg
I imagine these would ROCK in a wax melter! You could make a diy kit with wax rocks and wax succulents/petals or something to make a cute tiny zen garden and then melt the whole thing. Very zen. You could get complex with it and make a whole tiny bonzi tree from wax .
They may want to reconsider putting Orbeez in a flammable product like a candle due to the fact that if you let the candle burn down to the level of the Orbeez they will burn releasing toxic fumes into the air.
Yes because the Orbeez will totally burn with the water around them. The Orbeez would need to almost fully dehydrate before they could actually start burning, and by that point it'd be really difficult to keep the candle going if it was at the water level. The candle would stop burning far before the Orbeez likely even get warm.
We had this wax in the '90s... it was called "sand wax" or similar and came in super bright colors. I got a craft kit with it and fell in love with candle making because of the candles I made with it!
Yes - here to say I remember "Candle Sand" from the 70s and 80s and it was just like this stuff - the trend at the time seemed to be making candles in wine glasses (not sure how SAFE that was, but it was the 80s.....)
Orbeez were originally designed with agriculture in mind. The idea is that you put them into the soil of a region that doesn’t frequently get rainfall. When it does rain, they swell up, and then they slowly release the water back out into the soil. You can use them in house plants too.
For next time you want to make a terrarium candle and are afraid of placing more, there are silicon molds of succulents and rocks on diy/ali sites and you can just pour some green max in them and have a perfectly safe decoration! :)
YES... and we get to watch them hit roadblocks and compromise too in a healthy way, and it's refreshing to see when so much on youtube is toxic relationships.
Apparently to make granulated wax you just spray melted paraffin wax into a container, probably using something like a paint gun the wax cools and it makes the beads. It doesn't seem that hard to make, you'd just need a nozzle that won't clog with the solidified wax. Fun video guys.
Perhaps a modification of a 3D printer nozzle would help prevent clogging, and a variation on the water based conveyors that are used for fruits and vegetables, that way you just leave the sprayer in place, and collect the wax by scooping it up from the other end.
I swear I remember buying bags of this type of wax from walmart and making candles that looked like this sand bottles. In the 90's. Then being disappointed when the wax all melted together and looked gross. Lol
Ha! Just got to them making sand art. Does anyone else remember this wax stuff being a new fun craft thing? There is NO WAY my mom bought it if it wasn't cheap if not affordable.
I remember having this stuff in the 90s as well, always a big disappointment when the colours mixed and melted. You had to keep the bags in a cool climate, or they would clump up if left too long. Still fun to play with and make cool designs.
Apparently this company uses plant-based wax, is non-toxic, burns clean, therefore is pet friendly including around birds (of course, non-scented option is better + reasonable precautions are still recommended), and is produced in Arkansas or in their EU warehouses. As per their website. I didn't see any certifications or anything that could prove the veracity of these claims.. but at face-value: not drop-shipped. Also, they recommend only their non-coloured pearls min. 2" above water + wick not touching water for floating the pearls.
@@Akiku2 They are re-usable, they can dry out and then re-hydrate, which sort of makes them more dangerous. If they want to dry them out at home, they have to make sure Jubie doesn't eat one. If they ever throw them away, a wild animal or stray cat could eat one.
this is what I found about Orbees "Orbeez are colorful water beads primarily made of a superabsorbent polymer called sodium polyacrylate (usually made from acrylic acid and sodium hydroxide)."
The candle started smoking because of the flame on the glass and yes it would have cracked and possibly even exploded if the flame was left on the glass, no one wants flying shards of glass so Katelyn was correct in blowing the candle out
There are all colors of the orbeez also there is water beads for plants and floating candles. I do my candles with water beads and floating candles and have skulls in the water.
Yup. You can find already reconstituted water beads in the craft store in the floral section as they work great as a less messy 'water' for fresh cut flowers. ie, if it spills, instead of a quart of water, it's a little water and a lot of beads that spill out.
I remember doing the sand wax candle project as a kid with my mom. We poured a layer of melted wax over the top to keep the design in place so we could give them as Christmas presents.
I think if you're making a decorative only piece, the cheap wax would be fine. But if you're planning on burning it, you're going to want to use nicer wax for the better quality and lack of harmful chemicals. Thanks for sharing, E & K! ❤
You can get tiny marble molds to make resin orbeez and then inlay them into a mold for a bigger piece, where you grind of the surface so you can basically see orbeez cut in half
I just want to commend you two on how you always demonstrate good safety practices in all your videos, like in this one both having a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket on hand, doing the knock-over safety test, etc. It's just such good role modelling of the very basics everyone should always be considering in their projects as a matter of course, as opposed to a "burden" only thrown on at the end if at all, as many DIY channels do. Big appreciation ❤
I first saw this candle sand at a picnic setup by an event organiser. They said it was good because it's low waste and they can reuse the unmelted wax at the next event and have perfectly new looking candles each time.
Hate to burst your bubble but you can’t put orbeeze in resin they are too wet I’ve watched loads of resin channels try and never succeed lol would look soo good though ❤
I HAD to do it every time I saw a promotional stand outside of a business or at a festival. It's crazy how often I saw bottles of sand art then I turned 10 and boom. Gone. Never to be seen again.
Katelyn’s shirt is so cute! I thought it was a Pride shirt at first but then I looked out the window at all our snow and remembered it definitely isn’t June yet.
Back in the late 70's there was sand art all over the place. They got very complicated with flowers and cactus and all kinds of things using lots of kinds of glass containers. It started in the south west and spred all over. It was very popular.
On the plus side, those fake fish toys were all based on real reef fish. It's surprisingly common to find toys that include entirely made up fish and/or a mix of reef fish and fresh water fish.
I love the background so much. I've spent the past like 20 minutes just looking at everything and being like "I remember when they made that! And that!!"
one of the first candle making videos i ever watched was about how to make the drip effect with solid candles! You pour in layers (like regular) and then take a very hot metal stick and poke down in basically the same way! or you can also pour in layers, remove the shape of the drip you want from your first layer, pour your second layer, etc. Not as easy as the beads but!! still possible!
a cultist design in a glass cup and tentacles being buried beneath as they creep up to the summon would be really cool and also the shadows would fill the room
On the candles that have liquid in them, I would put a layer of melted wax to separate the two. The beads won’t sink in to water if there is something between them. I think that this is a project that needs repeating, especially if y’all are going to try and find cheaper beads. 🤔 Maybe a buy vs DYI: get a blender (and/or different methods of making wax beads) and bought wax. Then make different projects with each kind. **thoughts on pentagram candle: -I would have drawn/traced/etched a pattern/dent/trench then poured the wax out. -would have been cool to pour melted black wax as the pentagram -the crouching guy was totally running away from the summoned flame. He wasn’t a true believer, when the flame appeared he was like “uh, NOPE” 😂😂😂 Totally love y’all, Evan and Katelyn, can’t wait till your next video/project/stream.
Also, with the pentagram candle, while the trench would likely help, what they really needed to control where the wax is going a bit better than the squeezy bottle would be a smoother flow. For that I highly recommend cutting a straw at an angle (or even better, use a slushie straw). And the whole vibration thing is exactly what we do with powered enamels and glass when we need to control a line so Evan had a good idea.
At the renaissance fair in Minnesota they have a “booth” set up for layered candles like this. When you are done they melt the top layer to seal it up.
These have been around for years. There was a stall at my local shopping centre where you could purchase a jar and fill it with what ever colours and scents you wanted. They had heaps of fun colours and scents and I got one for my first Mother’s Day from my son’s other mother. I still have it 3 years later 🖤
I'm glad y'all always take the needed safety precautions. Recently, a guy I had went to high school with and his new wife were making candles and somehow one exploded into flames and he jumped on top of her to save her from the flames, and they both lived but with severe burns on a huge percentage of their bodies. He was very brave for what he did. I don't know how or why it happened, but it has made me fearful to make candles.
Katelyn I GET you so much. That feeling like you aren’t being comprehended or listened to. I get it. Saaame. Your cult candle idea is really cool mini scene! No videos from TikTok or Instagram to pull up or compare it too. It’s really neat!
the cult canlde would have looked awesome with Black base and red pentagram too! but i agree the shadows were reeeeally cool and i liked the design in general. the black beads melting in swirls in the middle looked like dark forces moving in the wax XD nice one!
Try vs DIY idea!!! Have y’all seen the sand art in picture frames that flip and change the orientation of the sand with every flip. I think you guys would have soo much fun recreating one ❤❤❤
Thank you fod your honest reaction to the advertisement hype. $200 is a damn lot, its e.g. a third of my rent, and it's cool to know there are mode affordable options. Also i just love your videos ❤
The excitement I felt when I saw this was an hour & a half was big guys ✨️ I lost my sweet kitty that looked so much like Jubie & hearing her purr really touched my heart today 💖 thanks Jubie💖
So I've figured out how to make this stuff. You use a device called a granulator, and it mists hot wax into the air so that that wax cools into small crystals, and then a drum spinning around the mister collects the granulated wax, and pushes it out one end of the drum so that it can be collected. This thing takes up a lot of space, and I don't believe it's feasible to do the same thing for an at home application. You would need a pump that can handle the wax, misters that can spray the wax fine enough that it cools inside the diameter of your drum (Recommend the drum for better collection although you could remove it and use like a large tarp underneath the mister), a motor to move said drum, a collection point and shoot to collect the wax. If made here in the US I could see how this would be an expensive product. It's a niece product, with little application on large scale, and requires semiprofessional equipment to create. I think I could make something to make this stuff, but sadly I don't have the money nor patience to do it.
1:18:18 purrrrrfect! I wish more people would include their pets like this. It’s so therapeutic ❤ Thanks. I can not have pets where i live and I miss my cats so much
I got little versions of this from the dollar tree actually. They didn't have as much as this color selection wise and the scents weren't great, but it was cheap and fun to do with my son so it was definitely worth it.
This has suuuuper strong late 90’s early 2000’s vibes. Like could go in the themed bathroom my mom stenciled with fish or go with a squeegee or sponge painted room.
I didn’t even know this was a “trend” 😂 I was trying to find something like this in 2012 for my wedding and nobody had anything. I ended up making them myself by using a cheap cheese grater and a regular candle and it worked tremendously.
I remember when these were a thing when I was a kid, you'd layer them however you want at the fair or wherever it was and then they'd flash melt the top layer so it would sort of lock things in place.
I think I may have commented this before on an early video, but guys PLEASE look at the recall of plastic handled Kidde fire extinguishers. I'm almost positive the extinguisher you have is one affected by the recall. I actually work in a fire extinguisher shop and have helped walk so many of my customers through the recall, so I'm very familiar with what these units look like.
Katelyn is so adorable..... 😊❤️ You should have tried to heat the layers to keep them from moving so you can make slanted layers, that would be really cool. 😁👍 Edit: Your recreated candle beads looks like concrete.... That would be a cool candle idea to have chunks of that that look like pieces of cinder blocks.
I loved this video! Interesting new thing, plenty of Joobie, a real nice energy, and those original designs came out wonderfully. Thank you and well done! Obviously I enjoy all your videos, but this one was especially great.

As for breaking the wax down to that size: air pressure and grinder wheels. Air pressure is used to force wax on the sharp edges of a grinding wheel (think cheese grater). Once the beads are small enough they pass through. At least that how my job does something similar.
I'm literally 2min in and how wholesome is it watching you two experience waterbeads for the first time. If you like cloning or propagating any of your favorite plants, these work great for rooting substrate! I cloned a Gardenia and had 7 out of 8 success rate! I only expected 2-3 to make it. 😅
This type of was has been around for years... I remember playing with it in the 90s as a kid, and we got it from a yard sale so it wasn't new then. And like candles made from it that were sand art adjacent but like wax grains. There's got to still be some off brand version of this wax kicking around
Hello! Just a comment on the fact that the candle product you used is not a new thing. I was making this type of candle 20 years ago. And they are super fun to do.
Drawing a circle around the five points creates a symbol referred to as the pentacle, which is used widely by Wiccans and in paganism, or as a sign of life and connections. The word "pentagram" refers only to the five-pointed star, not the surrounding circle of a pentacle.
I have seen craft boxes with this type of “sand” wax candle crafts. Who ever this company is they are making a killing on people thinking it’s “new”. 😆
Evan, from a retired firefighter, ABC extinguishers think Ash,Boom,Crackle. Ash=wood and paper, Boom=flamable liquids, Crackle = electricity.
That's cool, thank you!

I just commented the same thing. You have to use heat safe containers for candles. They can crack and spill wax and catch on fire. Be careful ❤
I burn candles on my stovetop since there isn't anything flammable close to the candle.

Why would I buy wax at $5 when I can buy lard at $2 and can also eat it in emergency?

I love how creative you are with the lives, the video overlays, different shots and different cameras!! Thankyou for putting in all this effort
A cat's purr to me is like pure serotonin
Oooo... squeeckie purrs...
you could say it's purr serotonin 😏
@@steveycraft979 🤣🤣🤣🤣
One time when I was sad, I just put on a recording of cat purring. It helped a lot.
i think it was proven that the frequency of a cat purr helps relieve stress in people and promotes other well-being things!
Sand art, both layering in jars and also pouring sand on sticky paper to make pictures, and candle making were staple summer camp crafts growing up!
They were for me in the 80s and my kids in the 2010s too, I don't get the whole "it's a 90s thing"
I remember doing the sand wax candle project as a kid with my mom. We poured a layer of melted wax over the top to keep the design in place so we could give them as Christmas presents.
I wonder if hitting it with a heat gun would trap the design in
We'd burn ours after we made them for long enough to seal in the design.
Wax fires are SO dangerous and hard to put out, speaking from experience, so the spill test actually made the wax beads interesting to me.
I think if you're making a decorative only piece, the cheap wax would be fine. But if you're planning on burning it, you're going to want to use nicer wax for the better quality and lack of harmful chemicals.
Thanks for sharing, E & K! ❤
OMG I HEAR THE PURRRRRRS!!! Thank you, Evan, for capturing this blessed audio
YAYYY!!! ANOTHER UNCUT!!!
Hopefully one day I can actually hop on a stream, but i'm happy i can atleast watch uncuts :'D
I first saw this candle sand at a picnic setup by an event organiser. They said it was good because it's low waste and they can reuse the unmelted wax at the next event and have perfectly new looking candles each time.
Ooh that is a really interesting use case!!
Hate to burst your bubble but you can’t put orbeeze in resin they are too wet I’ve watched loads of resin channels try and never succeed lol would look soo good though ❤
I've never made a candle, as a kid or otherwise, but we did love layering colored sand in glass bottles.
Supurrvisor purrs really made my day, so relaxing 🥰
Back in the late 70's there was sand art all over the place. They got very complicated with flowers and cactus and all kinds of things using lots of kinds of glass containers. It started in the south west and spred all over. It was very popular.
On the plus side, those fake fish toys were all based on real reef fish. It's surprisingly common to find toys that include entirely made up fish and/or a mix of reef fish and fresh water fish.
Orbeez are 50% orb, 50% bees
😭😭😭💯
**thoughts on pentagram candle:
-I would have drawn/traced/etched a pattern/dent/trench then poured the wax out.
-would have been cool to pour melted black wax as the pentagram
-the crouching guy was totally running away from the summoned flame. He wasn’t a true believer, when the flame appeared he was like “uh, NOPE” 😂😂😂
Totally love y’all, Evan and Katelyn, can’t wait till your next video/project/stream.
Litter box was such a cute idea!!!!
This livestream reminds me so much of watching the sand art in art attack as a kid its unreal.
That's exactly what I was thinking!!
I loved the cult candle. 10/10 best candle. EDIT: I just got to the litter candle and I lot it so much I would buy one.
This brings me back to the 90's. I remember having these in craft kits to make little bead candles.
the cult canlde would have looked awesome with Black base and red pentagram too! but i agree the shadows were reeeeally cool and i liked the design in general. the black beads melting in swirls in the middle looked like dark forces moving in the wax XD nice one!
😂 You obviously don't know anything about cults
😂

Soooo anyone else know you can get this wax for a lot cheaper? It's called granulated sand wax :)
I found a place called California candle supply that sells white for like $3/pound
Yeah this used to be a fun easy craft you’d even do with kids but now that it’s “trendy” companies are charging a ton
alibaba has it for 3 dollars a kg
Try vs DIY idea!!! Have y’all seen the sand art in picture frames that flip and change the orientation of the sand with every flip. I think you guys would have soo much fun recreating one ❤❤❤
at 1:01:20 when katelyn says "Top down please sir" It made me think, some not so pure thoughts about their relationship dynamic LOL
When you guys were chanting ham it summoned my cat and she spooked me 🤣
You guys are so fun and wholesome in an adult way. I wish you the best in your lives and journey on YT. Stay Goated 🫶🏼
Thank you fod your honest reaction to the advertisement hype. $200 is a damn lot, its e.g. a third of my rent, and it's cool to know there are mode affordable options. Also i just love your videos ❤
Random but your rent is only $600 🤯😢😅 Jealous. It's hard to find a studio for less than 1k here in Maryland
The excitement I felt when I saw this was an hour & a half was big guys
✨️
I lost my sweet kitty that looked so much like Jubie & hearing her purr really touched my heart today 💖 thanks Jubie💖
I have made similar bead by just throwing wax in a food processor. They don't come out in uniform shape, but it is a lot cheaper to make similar item
It’s so therapeutic ❤
Thanks.
I can not have pets where i live and I miss my cats so much
Lots of companies make granulated sand wax and are much less expensive! This used to be a super popular craft and ia just now getting trendy again
I like this product. I got some and I was really impressed with how easy they are to use
I got little versions of this from the dollar tree actually.
They didn't have as much as this color selection wise and the scents weren't great, but it was cheap and fun to do with my son so it was definitely worth it.
Aww you guys that candle sand has been around since at least the 90s I remember doing it as a kid I used to love it
I did these at the beach when I was a kid. They would use a blow torch to seal the top.
I watch you guys every day and not even exaggerating I have probably seen at least every video you guys have made like 12 times
My grandparents had a bottle of sand art in their bathroom that was actually made from bath salts. I didn't think they made wax sand for candles.
those void eyes were honestly kind of cute. they had the cute little reflections
Happy Sunday everyone! Evan and Katelyn, you're my favourite couple that I've never met, and Joobie is one of my favourite cats, period.
✌️& 🫶 from 🇨🇦
I remember when these were a thing when I was a kid, you'd layer them however you want at the fair or wherever it was and then they'd flash melt the top layer so it would sort of lock things in place.
You should have tried to heat the layers to keep them from moving so you can make slanted layers, that would be really cool. 😁👍
Edit: Your recreated candle beads looks like concrete.... That would be a cool candle idea to have chunks of that that look like pieces of cinder blocks.
Orbees take 8 hours?! I love your videos I wish I saw the live 😢
I don't think it is quite 8 hours. They start expanding after a short time, but it takes a while for them to fully expand.
Faster if you use hot water.
@@frankiemillcarek6976 oh interesting!
The kitty litter candle was brilliant. Very creative!
I loved this video! Interesting new thing, plenty of Joobie, a real nice energy, and those original designs came out wonderfully. Thank you and well done! Obviously I enjoy all your videos, but this one was especially great.
Oooh you could make a zen garden candle complete with all the little tools ❤
Katelyn: "I want to do something with orbeez and resin."
Me, mildly surprised she forgot the golden rule: "Ah, yes. Resin. Notoriously great with water." /j
You guys should try another one with clear orbys instead of blue so its more aquarium like! This was A M A Z I N G
42:50 "We'll place the cult members around the pentagram and light it, like they're doing a ritual! Won't that be nice?" 😂 ❤
The cult candle might be my favorite tbh! The execution of this idea is perfect
I love your videos!!!!
You guys are my favorite TH-camrs!!!
I’m in charge of a group of children where we learn about setting goals and balance our lives in 4 areas. My job is to provide activities to help them achieve those goals or figure out what goals they want to make. This gave me an idea for an activity! Thank you so much!
the sideways fish is the drunk uncle. 🤣
As for breaking the wax down to that size: air pressure and grinder wheels. Air pressure is used to force wax on the sharp edges of a grinding wheel (think cheese grater). Once the beads are small enough they pass through. At least that how my job does something similar.
Lighting a candle while watching this stream to get the true 4D experience
i loved these and the candles are done soo fast comparing to other crafts done live its amazing
Lol my ornery side was chanting "drop it drop it" when Katelyn was bringing out the bowl of orbees.
There's got to still be some off brand version of this wax kicking around
technically this is the off brand. This is like the gentrified version 😭😭
Once upon a time, i got a candle making set as a gift that was similar to the "sand" wax, and it was so fun to make. I am inspired to make some more!
Back in the late 90's we had candle sand here in the UK
I have seen craft boxes with this type of “sand” wax candle crafts. Who ever this company is they are making a killing on people thinking it’s “new”. 😆
I immediately stopped the video and looked it up, because I didn’t know that’s a thing. I now want candle sand lol
I have clear Orby's in the other room. Yes, you can use them for flower arrangements
