When Hagia Sophia was converted into a museum 85 years ago after 500 years of serving as a Mosque, it drew no reaction from these people who are now very vocal about it reverting to its previous status.
The irony is that Israel, which closes Al Aqsa Mosque for Muslims to worship there is shouting the loudest.
You will never hear a Muslim mention the one thousand and ninety three years that the Hagia Sophia served as a daily site of Christian worship. They don't acknowledge this at all. They pretend that its history began in 1453. You will also never hear them mention the thousands of Christian men, women and children who were brutally slain inside their own church, so that Muslims could use it as a mosque.
Since that day of carnage, when the Christians of Constantinople had their city taken and their holy places desecrated, Christians have had no control over the Church of Holy Wisdom. They have never forgotten their church, and never will. They have never stopped loving it and doing whatever they could to save it.
Although the Orthodox Christians never intended the HS to be used for anything other than the purpose they built it for, they saw its use as a museum as the lesser of two evils. When Ataturk made the HS a museum, it finally received the funds and care it needed for restoration. The HS has never been anything but a war trophy for Turkey, a symbol of the triumph of Turk over Greek, Islam over Christianity. There are over 3000 mosques in Istanbul, several Ottoman ones the same size as HS. These have always received priority when it came to restoration and funding.
Apparently, committing genocide and cultural theft against the Christians of Anatolia isn't enough. Turkey and fundamentalist Muslims won't rest until they've either taken or destroyed the what little is left of Christian culture in Anatolia.
In the century before the HS became a museum, it had become so dilapidated that very few Turks visited. Many areas were closed off due to falling debris. The majority of Turks worshipped in the more recent Ottoman mosques like the Sultan Ahmed next door.
After it became a museum, non profit groups and funds from Christian nations came in. Previously, they were not allowed to. The Byzantine Institute of America is responsible for all the remaining mosaics you see today. They are the ones who spent months carefully removing plaster and restoring mosaics. They paid for all of this, and did not charge Turkey a cent.
This is a move motivated purely by hate toward Christians. As long as this continues there will never be peace or justice in the world. This doesn't just affect Christians, fundamentalist Islam is a threat to everyone. We saw what happened in India with Ram temple. We see the conflict in Jerusalem over temple mount. We see the persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt. We see the destruction of many heritage sites by ISIL in recent years. There is only one common denominator in all of this. Whose revered religious shrine is the next target? Will Angkor Wat in Cambodia be next?

In a sahih hadith, a city (Istanbul) shall be conquered (the second time) with tahlil and takbir (not through physical war) by Bani Ishaq (people of paternally European descent - through centuries of assimilation, based on DNA studies, significant of today's Turks are paternally Europeans, i.e. Greeks, Balkans, etc.).
To conquer Istanbul is to conquer/enter its jewel/gate, Hagia Sophia.

When a country is conquered, the monopoly of the victor is established, this is the historical truth throughout the ages around the world. It is all fair.
The Muslims conquered Constantinople and turned the church into a mosque, without violating the general rules of world civilization. To add to that, the Sultan has shown generosity in buying the church.
Recall, the Christians conquered Spain and occupied all the mosques and gave the Muslims options either to be baptized or to be expelled, that caused mass Muslims exodus from Spain, some remained as Christians.
It may be recalled that the British closed down 1.25 million madrasas in India after they established their rule and only after many decades the Alia Madrasa was established at the request of the Muslims in Calcutta. They appointed continually 26 English Christian principals, where the interpretation of the Qur'an and Hadith were banned. Understand, what kind of Islamic education it was! It was pure joke.
Some referring to Babri Masjid issue. If India was a Hindu state, there could be an argument to draw the example of Babri Masjid. India is a secular state, not a Hindu state. There is no evidence to support the claim of the Ram temple. How can that be, this is a myth! And Hagia Sophia was a mosque for more than 600 years, now back into the mosque. The two are not to be measured on the same scale.

That's what they do best. Destroy and take other people's creations. Because creating, especially something like the Hagia Sophia, is a lot harder than destroying or taking it. It's a combination of hatred and envy. They couldn't build it, so they had to take it. Now they try to pass it off as their own. Pathetic.
