Brother, your last phrase was, we are all just trying to survive. Everyone will leave this world. In Islam, you live for Allah Azzawajal. You know that He has promised you a beautiful afterlife, and He never fails in His promise, Subhanallah. I used to be a confused Christian girl and now I am a proud Muslim, since last Ramadan. Before Islam, I didn’t have a meaning in life. Everything seemed useless no matter how happy I was, because I knew we’d end up dying. Happiness didn’t mean anything to me. In today’s world, people have made happiness their only goal which doesn’t make sense to me. I knew there was so much more to life than seeking pleasure after pleasure, in limited, material things. My soul needed something that wasn’t found in this world and I could never shake off the question of “but then what?”. After that moment of happiness, then what? Would my life just be a chain of events and feelings, all happening randomly, ending in the absolute emptiness, that is the non existent?
I refused to think that the life would just end. It never sounded logical for me. I have found everything in Islam; the guidance for the heart and the soul, my role in this life is set for me and I agree with it completely. How I should take care of my family, home and the less fortunate. Islam is about knowing your purpose, and to have the comfort of Allah’s infinite bounty, and promise that He is All wise, All aware, All powerful and All merciful. The peace after Islam is like nothing else. To submit myself completely to Allah swt has made me into a better person. Islam takes you out of this materialistic, cold world and centres you towards gratitude, forgiveness, and mercy. Allah is the All-Just.
Please look into Islam. If you want to ask anything from a revert’s point of view and why someone would come to Islam, my personal account on instagram is @_milasofia 😊 May Allah azzawajal keep your heart sincere in finding the right path 🤲

I came to Islam because I saw how well my friends treated their mother. She was like an actual queen. It made me wonder about if it came from the religion, so I asked for a translation the Quran and I started studying the religion. Yes sure enough, Islam encourages the best treatment to parents but especially the mother. I'm an American and I absolutely feel that Islam has the solutions to the world's problems.

I don't think Islam can solve any problems at all. There is a lot of infighting among Muslim sects which dates back to the time of the prophet or the time that came immediately after he died.
The Muslims would always be busy fighting over who is on the right path than offer solutions to modern day problems

I would say that 80% of Muslims don't speak Arabic. You don't need to learn it to be a Muslim since Islam wants to include everybody. So the translation such as the "Clear Quran" is enough to get the message. But to become a student of knowledge, of course, you need to learn Arabic. I myself converted to Islam and it seems like an impossible task but actually, after a few months, you'll get used to the Arabic prayer and the times of prayer. May Allah guide you to Islam bro.

As the language of Quraan is a miracle itself,, the meanings may not be translated 100% accurate
Still when you need to pray,, memorizing Al-Fatiha alone will be accepted from you, by time you'll find yourself able to memorize more

I'm an American from a secular place, and an atheist background, and when I was in Dubai during Ramadan I absolutely fell in love with Islam and converted. It's been the best decision of my life, and I'm really happy you got to see some of it.
One correction: In the beginning you mention that Allāh is "their god" but actually there is only One God, the same God that Jews and Christians pray to.
In fact, when you look up God in the original Aramaic language of the Bible, have a look at what it says: Allāh. Thats the name that Jesus (alaihi salaam) used whenever he prayed to God - not his god, but the One God that has declared Himself since the time of the Jews. This is also why the Islamic perspective is not one of a new religion, but rather of one continuous Revelation from the time of Abraham AS, to Moses AS, to Jesus (or Eesa) AS, to Prophet Mohammad ﷺ... in our perspective, the Law never changed, it was just people who did. I hope that was interesting.

    Corrections:
The prayer is not based on the lunar calendar. We do use the lunar calendar but the daily prayers have nothing to do with them. The prayer changes for us because we have daylight savings and times change because of seasonal changes but if you live in an area like the Middle East, Northern Africa, East Africa, the daily prayers are set on a specific times and they never change. It is more about what time of the day it is. For example: fajr is to be prayed before the sunrise around dawn. You can’t pray it once the sun rises, and then there is the noon, afternoon, after sunset, and then Evening. So if the times of sunrise and sunset changes so does the prayer times.
You said muslims pray to “their God”,but that is incorrect. We don’t have a special god that is our own. We believe in the lord of the heavens and the Earth. Marster over Everything in Existence. The Lord of Abraham and the one that is been in communication with us since the beginning of time. He has sent us messengers and Revelations since the time of Our father Adam until the last prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He came with the last revelation. The word رب العا” لمين” this means lord of the worlds. “Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allah. For He is the Almighty, All-Wise.”59:1
“He is Allah-there is no god except Him: the King, the Most Holy, the All-Perfect, the Source of Serenity, the Watcher ˹of all˺, the Almighty, the Supreme in Might,1 the Majestic. Glorified is Allah far above what they associate with Him ˹in worship˺!”
““He is Allah: the Creator, the Inventor, the Shaper. He ˹alone˺ has the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.”59:22-24. Even if people don’t believe in Allah and they worship something else, it doesn’t change the fact that they are his creation and that he is the one who can guide them to the straight path (islam) or judge them for rejecting his revelation after it’s been made evidently clear to them that this is the truth. This our belief.
The Quran can be translated and is translated to any other language in the world for people to understand what they are reading but Allah revealed his revelation in Arabic so the only The Arabic can be considered “revelation”. The others would simply be only translation of the Quran. You have read the Quran in Arabic and recite it in Arabic that is why the alphabet of the Arabic language is first taught to us as non- Arabic speaking Muslims. 80% of Muslims are non-Arabs but we are still able to recite, understand and recite the Quran in our prayers daily. However, if you wanna get the full experience, you have to learn arabic because most islamic sources are in Arabic.
We don’t use “benign” shariah in muslim countries. We use sharia. What most people consider “sharia” is actually called Hadud laws( capital punishment laws). Sharia is the define heavenly laws that God commanded us to follow such as praying, fasting, charity, good conduct, observing hijab, building good relationships with people you live with, neighbors, and elderly people are all part sharia. Sharia also covers how to rule, politics, judicial system, law enforcement and many other aspects of life. Islam is the way of life and it covers all the necessary matters of life so we may live and govern ourselves in manner that is pleasing to Allah and also apply rulings that are harsh at times to have a morally acceptable (to Allah) societies.
It is not tradition that Muslim women can only be seen by her closest family members. It is islam.
“… and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons…” [al-Nur 24:31]
“The relationship of mahram which permits a woman to show her adornments may be through rada'ah as well as through blood ties, so it is permissible for a woman to show her adornments to those who are her fathers or sons through rada'ah.” (Tafsir al-Alusi. 18/143)
“Prohibited to you (For marriage) are: Your mothers, daughters, sisters; father’s sisters, Mother’s sisters; brother’s daughters, sister’s daughters; foster-mothers (Who gave you suck), foster-sisters; your wives’ mothers; your step-daughters under your guardianship, born of your wives to whom ye have gone in, no prohibition if ye have not gone in; (Those who have been) wives of your sons proceeding from your loins; and two sisters in wedlock at one and the same time, except for what is past; for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.”Quran An-Nisa verse 23.
There is No tax enforced by the government at all in islam. We shouldn’t have taxes because it is un-islamic concept. The Islamic system of taxation is a voluntary one, if a non- muslim wishes to live under an Islamic government then they will pay jizyah which is a tax for non- muslim to grant them safety and security, and also have access to the same services and privileges that Muslims get. We muslims do something that is mandatory in islam called zakah. We are required to pay 2.5% of our wealth to the poor yearly while jizyah is much much smaller amount than zakah. This makes society better and makes up for the lack of resources, privileges between the poor and the rich while they uplifts each other. Muslims can’t take zakah from other muslims unless we are in need of it. So, there are times in history when islamic rulers run out of poor people to feed and the population complains on who to give the charity.
Hope this clears things up and educates others.

the idea is, it might be that quran it self have evolved the language around it in some islamic countries "not all" that's why some islamic countries do sound and speak much closer to the classic arabic than others.
an example would be, i have never been religious but whenever i had "islamic religion subject exam" in school. i'd go to the exam with zero knowledge and enver have read anything. and i'd be able to explain the quranic text in front of me accurately enough to get 70% of it correct.
because most of the words are words i speak everyday, but with more grammatical application which is why my accuracy is not 100% in explaining it.

About the four wives, it may be a shock for people outside of Islam when taken literally without further information but Allah SWT only permits a second wife and so fourth on the basis of the husband being able to provide equally down to how many breaths he takes, so if he take 50 breaths with his first wife he must take 50 with his second wife and so forth -which is basically impossible. So it’s not just for fun and games, it’s a lot deeper than ‘a man can marry four women’. I hope you enjoyed your time in the Middle East, maybe next you should come to Kuwait!

Correction: Hijab is an obligation to men and women. Please stop using the word "hijab" to refer to the headscarf or women's clothing. Hijab is for covering the 'Awrah or the area of the body that is supposed to be covered. The headscarf is called Khimar, and the verse in surat nisaa actually uses the words "khimar" to cover their body. This suggests that the khimar is an important part of hijab, but at the same time hijab for a woman is supposed to cover much more. The more we deviate from the actual meaning of the words the more we deviate from the actual practice of Islam. Which is why you see women wearing a headscarf and wearing some tight clothes.

According to The Encyclopaedia Britannica: “Most of the classical literature that spurred the European Renaissance was obtained from translations of Arabic manuscripts in Muslim libraries.” (1984), Vol. 15, p. 646. Bertrand Russell in ‘History of Western Philosophy,’ London, 1948, p. 419. "Our use of phrase 'The Dark ages' to cover the period from 699 to 1,000 marks our undue concentration on Western Europe... "From India to Spain, the brilliant civilization of Islam flourished. What was lost to Christendom at this time was not lost to civilization, but quite the contrary..."To us it seems that West-European civilization is civilization, but this is a narrow view." Professor, Reverend, W. Montgomery Watt reminds us in The Influence of Islam on Medieval Europe (Edinburgh: University Press, 1972: “It is clear that the influence of Islam on Western Christendom is greater than is usually realized. Not only did Islam share with Western Europe many material products and technological discoveries; not only did it stimulate Europe intellectually in the fields of science and philosophy; but it provoked Europe into forming a new image of itself. Because Europe was reacting against Islam, it belittled the influence [of Muslim scholarship].... So today, an important task for our Western Europeans, as we move into the era of the one world, is to correct this false emphasis and to acknowledge fully our debt to the Arab and Islamic world." Tim Wallace Murphy, A Templar Historian wrote a book called What Islam Did For Us, on page 215 sums up as follows: "even the brief study of history revealed in these pages demonstrates that the European culture owes an immense and immeasurable debt to the world of Islam. Muslim scholars preserved and enhanced the learning of ancient Greece, laid the foundation for modern science, medicine, astronomy and navigation and inspired some of our greatest cultural achievements. If it were not for the inherent tolerance for the People of the Book that was manifest within the Islamic World for over 15 centuries, it is highly doubtful that the Jewish people could have survived as a racial and religious entity, and we would have lost their contribution to art, medicine, science, literature and music which is almost beyond measure. We in the West owe a debt to the Muslim world that can never be fully repaid. Despite our common religious and spiritual roots, we have thanked them with centuries of mistrust, the brutality of the crusades and imperial takeover that conducted with callous indifference to the needs of the peoples we exploited"

Islam is the greatest teaching alive in humanity today. Mashallah we are blessed to have the message. Should families not be most important? Should women not be held to a respect where we see them as something to protect and preserve? Surely not having these values is the source of many of our cultural ills in the west. As a black man, I see first hand how lack of family values is absolutely DESTORYINGGG my community, has been since before I was born, and today the "please everyone" media touts its moral poison as though it has results to back up the assumed worth to our western way of thinking. Marriage is dead in the west. Many children are dead in the west. Western governments even pay for muslim societies in the east to be bombarded with warfare, killing their women and children. The west could do with more islam. They're preparing to teach the children the value of genital mutilation and chemical castration here in the US. Alssalamu Alikom !!
This is my first time watching one of your videos. as a Muslim Arab from Palestine , I am impressed. you managed to learn a lot from social interactions, and the respectful approach you have to our religion and culture is heart worming and admirable.
now I am sure you will likely get a load of comments from other Muslims who are eager to team more about Islam to a polite and respectable gentleman like yourself. so I will only give you a couple of interesting points from my side :)
while you have learned a lot about what Muslims do and how they behave, it will help you to really understand us if you know the core of our religion. especially the parts that confused you a bit: hijab, why our religious is so important to us, why ones family, ESPECIALLY their MOTHER is a RED LINE ( you could really get you butt kicked if you jock about ones mother I warn you).
For Muslims, the most important this is God , whom we call in arabic Allah ( since you are interested in language , the word Allah is very interesting, look it up. but to be brief , this single word described God being one and only and having no gender.... its is not even close to the English word "God" which can be in plural Gods , or have gender Goddess )
Islam in short means to be completely obedient to Allah , we believe the soul purpose of our existence is to worship and obey him. where this world is just a temporary one, that is created to test us, to show who among us is better in their deeds (Surah Mulk Ayah 2 ) , and after death, everyone will be judged according to their deeds.
That is how a Muslim sees life and existence, if you contrast that with new western world view, where you exist just to maximize your happiness, just to feel good as much as possible , and minimize and bad feeling and any suffering. it is easy to understand the difficulty both sides have in understanding each other.
anyway, good luck to you mate.

@@ColeLangs I would add some more here cause you are very honest and a knowledge seeker (i truly mean it)
now, this one concerns western atheistic beliefs most, as mentioned above, western people see life as "maximize happiness and feel good as much as possible at the cost of everything", which... let's face it, is impossible, they go as far as putting their grand mothers in old care homes 😔, its sad, now back to my point. Atheists will tell us that "God (Allah) cannot possibly exist because of all the suffering (cancer children, earthquakes etc.) that's going on in the planet, even if he exists... he's not the most merciful like you always claim, therefore islam is false", this is a logical fallacy, the world is not heaven, these are the test grounds and we'll all face all kinds of different challenges.
here's some 2 verses on the quran that summarize our hypocrisies as human beings:
      10:22
He is the One Who enables you to travel through land and sea. And it so happens that you are on ships, sailing with a favourable wind, to the passengers’ delight. Suddenly, the ships are overcome by a gale wind and those on board are overwhelmed by waves from every side, and they assume they are doomed. They cry out to Allah ˹alone˺ in sincere devotion, “If You save us from this, we will certainly be grateful.”
      - Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
      10:23
But as soon as He rescues them, they transgress in the land unjustly. O humanity! Your transgression is only against your own souls. ˹There is only˺ brief enjoyment in this worldly life, then to Us is your return, and then We will inform you of what you used to do.
      My closing thoughts:
i've seen these things happen, when you are in a tough situation you beg the lord like there is no tomorrow but when things are smooth sailing, people tend to transgress because their safety makes them feel too powerful. They forget who gave them that safety And last but not least, always remember cole about this verse:
      39:53
Say, ˹O Prophet, that Allah says,˺ “O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
NEVER LOSE HOPE IN ALLAH's MERCY.

We had a discussion about marriage and I was being encouraged to find a spouse. I could not understand (at the time) why dating was so strict and I asked ""How do you fall in love"" and the brother said Love comes after marriage....
Even it seemed strange at the time, It was the most important piece of wisdom I had ever heard of regarding female and male relationships. The importance of that concept is so vast that you could fill volumes of books on the virtues for a society that understands it.
If the West could just implement this alone, it would save them from the copious amounts of problems that affect its society...

When I asked how he knew the guy's name, he started laughing and said "man, half the people here are called Ahmad, Mohammad or Mahmoud, you you can't go wrong with that".

Although, the hijab is mandatory and a religious obligation (not cultural), but people who do not follow it are not forced by compulsion, but they acknowledge their errors. Hijab is not tradition; you are considered sinful if you are not wearing it. However, one cannot be punished for not wearing it. For example, the Quran specifically sets out punishments for those who commit adultery. But there are no set rules or punishments for not wearing the hijab, in neither the Quran nor the Hadith. It is generally agreed that it is a sin like lying, where you are sinful if you do it, but not punished for it by authority. The same goes for not lowering one's gaze

    • @cyberspace7208

You must know which sins are only personal matters with Allah SWT and sins that harm others such as killing, adultery, stealing, and others. So if women don't wear hijab, they don't have to be punished by the state because it's a sin that is only a personal matter with Allah SWT. Try to show me the Quran and Hadith that command women to be punished if they don't wear it. No scholars have said this but you make up your own laws and try to act like a scholar.@@cyberspace7208

FYI, the calendar for religious events is based on the lunar calendar, but the timings for prayers are based on the time of day.
The first prayer must be performed between the beginning of dawn to sunrise.
The second prayer must be performed after midday and before the later part of the afternoon.
The third prayer must be performed after the later part of the afternoon and before the start of sunset.
The fourth prayer is performed between sunset and dusk.
The fifth prater is performed after dusk and before dawn.
Obviously these times vary on the time of the year so calendars are available based on your location. Mosques tend to have congregational times fixed within these slots.

I love your open-mindedness! And I agree at what an important role learning the language (effectively) can play in making connections, both in practical terms and in terms of making it clear what an effort you’re willing to make. I had a similar wonderful and revealing experience staying with my penpal’s family in Mombassa Kenya back in 1987 when I was in my twenties, working hard at learning Swahili on the side. They were amazing hosts and it was a life-changing few months, but at the same time, in hind-sight there are limits. For example, while I am respectful and warm toward any religion that people are part of with a feeling of love and belonging, I am also fundamentally (and usually quietly) an atheist myself…But being open and asking and learning is wonderful and rare, so by all means go for it!!!
