I agree with Mr Bishara's comment that the UN General Assembly must now take action in support of the ICJ's ruling. I was shocked recently when the Israeli ambassador to the UN approached the podium of that body with a portable paper shredder and shredded the UN charter in full view of that body while delivering a rant against the world. It was a disgusting spectacle. The General Assembly should respond by kicking Israel out of the UN - or at very least freeze its membership.

So why wasn't it illegal occupation when the state of Jordan occupied the West Bank and Egypt occupied Gaza for 18 years? Why didn't the so-called Palestinians ask for their state under Jordan and Egypt, before their ill-advised '67 war? The Arabs started a six-day war - and lost. When you lose a war, you don't get to determine the terms of the treaty- ask Germany (Kaliningrad was once Konigsberg). In 2005, Gaza was similarly returned in good faith as a test case for what can be - peace, but we now know better.
It is well documented that the Palestinians turned down the partition plan and refused a state besides Israel on the West Bank and declared war.
