  • 3D printing exotic and sensitive materials is not always the easiest, so it is recommended that you invest in a hard shell durable enclosure. This will not only enable you to print certain materials, it is going to allow your print results and quality to excel above others!

    Enclosure is a must to filter not only fumes but microplastics. Not sure if HEPA can do this but if you have an enclosure, you have control over filtering methods. I live in Europe, so ordered from a Czech company Tukkari for my Ender 3 S1 for 227 EUR, including shipping.

    For my first 2 1/2 years I printed functional or disposable parts for use in out small business with and refurbished Ender 3 Pro with basically only ABS filament. I built it out of 2x4s, 3/8 inch plywood, and used plexiglass off the scrap pile. If anyone wants to know I did splice the power leads from the power supply to the printer with extra scrap 10 gauge solid wire and I cut a hole under the CPU fan hole to help keep the motherboard cooler.
    One thing you didn't mention but I am sure you noticed and just didn't happen to think of for this video is enclosed machines stay cleaner and collect virtually no dust and dirt. This also for me made cleaning and maintaining the enclosed machine faster than the open air Ender 3 I later picked up for PetG.

    Nice video! And lovely cat! This enclosure provides another option for those who want something different than the tents but have no time to DIY one.

      Thank you!! Isnt pepper the cutest??! hahah!! Yes I agree. I think these hard shell enclosures are more of a permanent setup, whereas the tent style ones are for quick jobs.

    I actually made my own with leftover wood, metal rods, and some parts I found for free. I only bought the fans, filters, and the acrylic sheets for a total of around 40$

    I'd say enclosures help with avoiding warping with larger, flat PLA prints

    • @ThePrintHouse
      @ThePrintHouse  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is probably true also. I usually dont print large PLA objects, but the few times I have I didnt have warping issues. I know it definitely wont hurt. With PLA and fast printing though, an enclosure can definitely hinder cooling speeds, so that is something to consider.

    Its 200😂 similar price as p1s upgrade kit. Also your cat is very gentle, my cat will try to get inside of the enclosure.

    • @ThePrintHouse
      @ThePrintHouse  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      True true, but if someone already has an expensive printer like a Prusa or some other $500+ printer, it might be more worth it to buy an enclosure rather than an entire p1s+upgrade kit or a p1s itself.

    Back in the old days there was only Abs and tiny warped stinking toxic prints was the norm sadly. See my thin hair.
    Moving to pla improved wider community experience, going from a two inch warping toxic abs prints to full build volume no warp pla low toxic prints ment the game really picked up big time, it gave a massive serge to the sector.
    Yip get Enclosures for your printers is my opinion also.
    100% get an enclosure.
    Even pla aint air so dont breath it.
    A charcoal filter to outside clears your room and cleans the air leaving is again just my 5 cents.
    If my room had no hole for a vent to go out i would consider a box with charcoal vent, perhaps its possible to keep box sealed until after printer has cooled so fumes remain trapped in box then turn filter on, just an idea.
    The encloseure is a thing most noobs and even wider community and even experts are slacking on, get them is my opinion.
    Your health is worth every cent.
    Good vid.
    If its 3d printed check its the original, lets try buy from the genuine thing license holder not a random pirate of a thing.

      Yes I agree. I think a lot of users don't even know an external enclosure is a product because not many manufacturers make them. Hopefully it begins to be more popular now that a lot of fully enclosed printers exist! :D

      @@ThePrintHouse thanks for reply. Youd think so. But after many years its a thing to race to print and never set up properly ever.
      Theres plenty of cheap printers now that need enclosures.
      What was $5500 dollar printer is now 300 maybe. So its almost free to get into compared to 10 years ago.
      I used to know how many printers were about but yip theres plenty with no box out there still.

    Can anyone recommend a good solid enclosure for an Ankermake M5 that i could buy in the UK ? Unlike the M5C the spool hanger is a lot higher up the the M5C in this video so it wouldnt fit in...

    • @ThePrintHouse
      @ThePrintHouse  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had to modify the spool holder for this printer. This enclosure actually have built in filament management on the ceiling of the enclosure, so you can have your filament outside of the enclosure and utilize the through hole. You will need to have the filament in a dry box to feed it or get an external filament holder (there are thousands of them to print on printables).
