    Yes, I would love to see a video on clipping and cutting. I'm trying to teach myself to trim the fur on my Cavalier and it has been difficult at best. I would especially like to see how you approach the fur on the bottom of their feet. Thanks for all of the info!!

    Oh! Would LOVE to see a grooming video!! I would also like to do my own. The Pooches really get anxious when left at the groomer! LOVE the products you choose and will be trying them! I feel the same way about the chemical Flea and Tick .... last few years using the sorresto collar on my guy and take it off when we are home, which is NOT recommended, but in the car and at home it's off...

    I also have alot of Kin and Kind products I love it so much ❤
    When my dog is around 1, his tear strain was so bad. At that time I didn't know much about the strains, so when I did a yearly check-up the vet said that this product is the best for tear strains, so I bought it and when I cleaned his eyes it is just the best since the strains just immidiately gone after 3 days but at the fourth I decided to look at the ingredients and it has alot of antibiotics. When I saw that I just stopped using it. Since then I only use Mpets tear strain cleaner and cotton balls to clean the area since the tear strain never really show again since the antibiotic. But I kinda regret using it because it's just quite expensive and really strong and I'm pretty lucky that I read the ingredients at the third day using it bcs it can develop redness around the eyes bcs antib. can damage fur growth if you use it on a regular basis ( according to my friend's dog experience ).
    I usually let my dog " swim " in the small kiddy pool once a month to prevent tick and fleas to raise their fur in the water and it's the best for long haired breeds like poms. Since my dog never actually have fleas or ticks so this hack works really well with me.💛
    Love u Mai, Herky, Milton, and Dad 💓

    Great video. Very informative. Wish there was a natural product like a detangling spray for between shampoos, or for post shampoo. My older cav hates to be combed and she gets matted so easily behind her ears for example. Would love to see a video using the grooming tools. Love your vids and your precious cavs!

    Id love to see what your plans are for hair cutting the girls. I've groomed a cavalier before but she had everything off, shaved right down for a summer cut even her beautiful ears! But someone I know did a cav who had a tidy up and they did around their feet, feathering and tidied the ears but shaved the body short. I'd like to see what herky and Milton looks like a before and after of a grooming session.

    Hello precious babies!!! You both look so pretty!!! 💗💕💗💕💗. I always love the chance to see you!!! I am sending this video to my grandpuppy’s mother (my daughter) to share this information with her. Gus just had to have his teeth cleaned by their vet out in San Jose CA. Gus is a little older than Herky. And he is a total Snuggle Buddy.

    Thanks for this video! I've always wanted to know how much grooming a cavalier needs. My lab and beagle are pretty easy dogs but the ear cleaner looks like a good idea as their ears get so dirty especially my Labrador. The only grooming I do for them is de shedding and trimming my labs paws out to let them breathe as he gets a lot of skin issues in his paws.

    Also it depends on what kind raw fed diet they’re on. Do you get raw meaty bones? Because chewing and scraping essentially is what “brushes” their teeth. If they’re fed ground up raw patties, you still have to brush their teeth or supplement with raw meaty bones.

    I groom my Cavalier myself it was a great bonding activity in the 1sr year of life. I do take him to a groomer 1 - 2 times a year so he becomes acclimated to it. Sometimes I will just get a super moisturizing bath and his nails or teeth done. I know there could come a day I might not be able to bath him so I like knowing he's comfortable with it and the groomer. I would love to just get an update on your thoughts about the grooming kit after you've had a chance to use it. I know there is some type of product to put in your dogs eyes, pre-bath, to protect them from getting soap or water in the eyes. It creates a protective film on the eye. I know it's really liked but don't know or have found such a product. Maybe you can find one,

      I have always used Fresh 'n Clean shampoo and conditioner. It has purified water, oat flour, vitamin E, aloe Vera, baking soda and fragrance that makes them smell so clean and their coat is silky soft. You just have to rinse thoroughly and I do dilute it with water.

    You have to bursh cavaliers teeth. If you have a dog thats more on a wolf side, than you don't have to. It's because their teeth are placed differently in their mouth. We had a german shepherd and we never brushed her teeth and she had no problems (even without tha raw food - they just clean them by chewing). Now i've got a cav puppy and i'm brushing her teeth onec or twice a day. You don't need a toothpaste and toothbrush though. Feel free to just use your finger. Hope this helped someone :)

    Great Video! I will however not recommed the furminator for a Cavalier. It is not good for their coats and also partly why the skin can get annoyed with it’s use. Instead use a Coat King 10 or 16 blade for the under coat. The furminater is too hard on the Cavalier top coat and will break off unnessisarily many top coat hairs. Just my input 😘 A full bath with a good shampoo and conditioner every 6 really helps a lot for us. ♥️

    For Burgundy her hair around her legs closer to her butt area hair gets super long and when she pees it wet. Does that happen to Herky and Milton and if so what do you do? I take burgundy to get her hair trimmed so the hair doesn't get mated due to the pee.

    I highly encourage you to talk to your veterinarian. NO NATURAL products work as flea or tick preventatives. Your dog can end up with Lyme, erlichia, or any other tick transmitted diseases. Fleas can lead to tapeworms or loss of fur. You can also get the plague from fleas. Heartworm preventative is extremely important because it’s deadly and most dogs die when they go through treatment that is why we prevent it by giving monthly pills. If you are worry about side effects you should use heartgard and nextgard because they are the most SAFE. I get all of my information from UCD which has been the #1 vet school in the world for the past 5 years. Please reconsider your decision, you are going to put Herky and Milton in more danger by not giving them the appropriate preventatives.

    • @herkythecavalier
      @herkythecavalier  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is also risk of convulsions and death with those medications like Heartgard and Nexgard, which are the medications that Herky and Milton already took in the past. My vet would recommend the use of those medications of course, they would also recommend Royal Canin or Hill's pet food whose first ingredient is rice and chicken by-products. The girls eat raw, which is also not recommended by our vet and that is my decision.
