I have Cavalier #2. Our beloved Cav was put to sleep in Nov and we had another by end of January. She is five years old, and disposition is exactly the same. They truly have never met a stranger. She was part of our family within hours, They are an amazingly lovable breed.
I'm bringing home a cavalier pup next month, I've been watching all of your videos! I love them and this one has been especially helpful. Love your channel!
Hi hun, I've been a proud owner of a Blenheim, called Jessie, nearly 12 weeks old, for 2 weeks today ( she's the double of ur Milton as a pup) I have always had dogs all my life, my boy had to be put to sleep 4 years ago, ( he was a 13 year old alsatian mix) and cause my partner had, had cavas in the past, if was a family decision to get another dog, so we got Jessie, I must say, so far I think she sheds more than my previous boy, I will be doing most of her grooming care ect at home, but she will still be going for a pamper at the groom room, I have been binge watching ur vids, people need to see beyond the amazingly beautiful faces and know, there can be so many health probs, we have had to take out, pet insurance, a pet vet plan, and people need to realise, they cost a lot, they need constant groom care ( tears, ears, grooming) they can be very needy and clingy, BUT if ur not willing to give her ur all, don't get a dog, I have been learning alot from u, ( and I will be buying the furmanator brush) were currently at the potty training, chewing, stage, so much fun ( lol not) but she will get all the best care and so much love, thank u for ur videos, sending hugs, Zoe, Manchester UK xxx
It's nice to see someone grooming their dogs so well. I have seen many long haired dogs with huge mats in them they go to a groomers hoping they can save the hair and the groomer has to shave all the hair off. I wish more people groomed their dogs properly, they feel so much better for it.
Aww they are so sweet. I'm not usually a fan of small dogs but these two are the cutest. I have a Labrador who weighs around 80 pounds (35kg) and is the sweetest boy ever. I use a furminator and a rubbed brush as well as a soft brush. His coat is so soft !
So impressed that Herky and Milton let you clean their teeth. I’ve been trying with my 2 cats since they were kittens, but they really don’t like the fele of it even with the yummy toothpaste. Did not expect cooperation of a dog, but at least some. LOL I still do it though, vet gives me a thumbs up. As for the other stuff, i do the claws and clean the ears and eyes, although on a cat some of that is done differently. That they cooperate for pretty much. Treats after always help. I also make sure all treats are healthy, they just don’t know that. Greenies ass’t treats are my favourites. I always get teeth, skin and coat, and hairball ones. Those have proven quite popular. 😻
My sister brought home her baby Cavi about 4 weeks ago...some trials and tribulations with housebreaking, even tho she takes Molly outside frequently/ and whenever she 'signals' interest going outside. I'm watching because I would like to give my sister useful and proven items for Christmas, etc. Helpful to know the eye secretions lessen as the doggie grows. Such good information! Thank you very much. Greetings from SoCal ❤️
I'm obsessed with your videos! Never stop please!! I have a 3/4 cavalier 1/3 Bichon so cavachon but I Just identify him as s cavalier .I wish he could meet herky and Milton!
Fantastic thorough grooming! My blenhem, Preston, has a little mucus in his eyes every morning, so I always take a tissue and clear them out - a "pet" peeve of mine! I use baby shampoo under his eyes to clean them so it won't burn his little eyes. I also routinely wipe around his lips to keep them clean after he eats his dinner. There are little crevasses around his mouth that tend to trap food particles (again, baby shampoo). There is a solution that you can buy from your vet to drop into his ears to keep the PH at the right level - this is particularly important after he gets his baths because water ultimately will creep into his ear canals no matter how hard you try to prevent it from happening. Brushing their teeth should start earlier rather than later to get them accustomed to the routine and the feel of it. I find it much easier to lie him down on a high table or counter to do this. I also brush his tongue at the same time in the brushing process. In between brushings, I incorporate a dash of tartar control liquid into his water bowl every day - Nylabone makes a good one, and Preston loves the flavor! The fishnet stocking recommendation for use in trimming their toenails is a stellar idea! Of course, I file them smooth afterwards. Well, that's it for me. If I think of anything else, I'll check back in! Thanks again for this wonderful video. ALL cavaliers should have nothing less than the royal treatment - after all, they ARE royal!!!
Thank you so much for all these helpful vids they really helped me get ready for my cavalier you guys are the best and just want to help people thank you so much and we appreciate you guys so much!!! 😊 thank you 😊
Having watched your videos when I was still pining for my cavalier I knew from earlier you keep their ears clean and that they have issues with them. I got my Cooper at one week before he turned 6 months and he came with some nasty ears, I got online and ordered both Burt's Bees' ear produces, to no avail, my poor guy was scratching his ears raw, a neighbor is a pro groomer supplier, advised Zymox, OMG this stuff is awesome! She told me to use two times each ear first couple days, then once for the next 8 days, that was months ago and every now and then I'll do a wipe with the Burt's and comes off clean. ;'))
One of my girls has a curly coat, the other has a silky coat like Herky and Milton (the boy’s somewhere in the middle and best described as “fluffy”). The silky coat is much easier to look after. Mimi’s cutler coat is this and seems to hold onto the shed hair and make it harder to brush thoroughly
Thank you so very much for the MOST HELPFUL video I have seen on Cavaliers! Our Dolly is 1 1 1/2 years & she is sweet just like your two babies! We just had a vet tell us that she needs surgery for her patellas. She shows no symptoms but now we are questioning if we should have bought from a breeder who checks everything yearly that can be inherited in Cavys. Did you get yours from that type of breeder? It would be really helpful to know due to we want to get another one. Thanks again as you are such a huge help to us Cavy owners!
I once had a cocker spaniel (or should I say, he once had me) and he hated being brushed. Is this common with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel too? Part of it was that he had ear infections and his ears would hurt if you brushed them. That's also something I'd like to avoid if I got one. My cocker went deaf because of the ear infections. I don't want to put a dog through that.
One thing that keeps my puppy's fur silky soft is that I use a conditioner on her after I shampoo her during bath time! It works best when I let it sit in her fur for a few minutes before washing it out
My first and only brand I've tried is Procão oatmeal conditioner (got it on Amazon). But I've thought about trying something with lavender in it since I've heard lavender repels fleas and ticks!
I would have to pick those burrs out between Baileys toes. He would stop walking lift the leg that the paw as had burrs and I had to get them out. OMG. I was stuck with them.
I’ve grown up with different kinds of Spaniels, and my Cav Tanner is 3 now. And all of them get dry/ itchy skin around this time of year where they shed their coats before winter. Do you have any tips or products that you use?
My father has finally given in and has allowed me to get an emotional support dog and I was wondering if a cavalier pup would be a good choice? I should add that I've never had a dog at my fathers house and it would be our first time getting a dog.
Willow Cavaliers are very lovely dogs. If you want a stalker, get a cavalier! He will love you to the moon and back. BUT find a responsible breeder who tests health. Some genetic diseases are easy to rule out like episodic falling or curly coat syndrome - parents should be free from those diseases. However, there are some illnesses in the cavalier world which are impossible to rule out - healthy parents won’t guarantee your puppy won’t get sick, e.g. MVD is a major problem with cavaliers as well as Syringomyelia. Go to cavalierhealth.org where you can get more information on the breed. So before you get a cavalier you have to be honest with yourself and consider if you’re really ready for “in sickness and in health”, cause it can get very expensive. Of course, it’s only a possibility, your pup may live a long and happy life, but it’s always a possibility with cavaliers.
I have two Burmese cats am in the process of introducing them, and it’s going well but I’m taking it very slow. Have your cavaliers had any experience with cats, and do you have any advice. Lover your Chanel 🇦🇺sending my support from Australia💕🐶
I LOVE the King Charles Spaniel and would love to adopt one, but I do need to know how long it takes to comb their fur, I simply don't want to neglect their fur, because it looks so pretty, so I do want to know if I can make enough time to comb their fur on a daily basis. I absolutely love the video btw!
I’m looking into getting the same dog as you!! I watched a ton of your videos and I think these dogs are the best for me. Does brushing them hurt them? Sorry I’m new to this. Love your channel!!
I have a question about ears. I just watched another video on grooming & the groomed used a tool to grab hold of all the ear hair, twisted it around the tool & yanked it all out. Poor dog wined in pain. I've been cleaning my Cavys ears with a med & cleaner from the Vet as she had mites & yeast when I got her. Do you trim inside the ears, ir tweeze, or pull the hair out? Or leave it natural & just clean it regularly? I've had my Cavy one month & she's adorable!
Hi Mai! Love seeing ur videos on herky and Milton! Our lily is a Blenheim and is 4 yo just like herky. We are thinking of adding a sister for her. How was that transition for u and herky? Also how do u not let the dogs sleep with u on the bed? Omg, lily sleeps with us and just the thought of two cavaliers scare me!! Please help! Thanks!
I know that Cavaliers have very sensitive teeth and some chew toys can damage their teeth. Can you maybe make a video about what toys are best to give to Cavaliers?
Sophie Marsh if you want your dog to participate in shows you should watch out for very hard toys or the ropes you could pull with him and also bones if you’re going to feed him raw. Look for softer toys. If you’re not going to attend shows with your dog then there’s no need to worry about toys, just keep those teeth clean and keep his diet healthy ;)
Your Cavs are really sweet! Thanks for the great product info. However, I would strongly discourage at home claw clipping. It's very dangerous to do if you aren't a professional. I would suggest a nail file and buffer instead if you cannot schedule with a clipping with a groomer. Groomers now offer an electric file option as well. Also, if you are going to use apple cider anywhere, please please dilute it first! It is very strong and can burn the babies. I love my black and tan Cav, Vivienne, and I use organic lightly scented baby wipes to clean her tears and eye goop daily. :)
My Cavvie is a biter!! When we try to brush him, brush his teeth or clip his nails, he goes crazy!! Even the vet struggles with clipping his nails. He gets so distressed that we don’t do it very often. Does anyone have tips??
When he bites close his snout (don't shut it to hard) and growl. After doing that a while he'll learn not to bite (Cavaliers are really smart and learn really fast)
This dog breed is lovely i adore how calm they are!! Hoping i can get one soon
Did you get one
The best Ocarina player ever created i did haha omg i forgot about this comment, she’s already turned 1 :) love her to pieces

Herky The Cavalier they do look super cute shaved though!
Awe it was so incredibly adorable when Milton asked you to brush her ❤️

Yay to soft coats!
We love our Cav.. he's 9 mo today. The fish net for the nails is a great idea. Good video! Ty!
They are so clever and well-behaved! And cute! 😍
This very helpful! I'm hopefully getting a King Charles Caviler and this helps me know about their temperament and how to groom them! Thanks so much!
I'm amazeded at how well you seem to take care of your dogs! They're absolutely beautiful

Hello beauties! The fishnet stocking is a really great idea! 😘😘😍😘👍
Hi Silvia! That tip works wonders :)
How do you make them so calm during grooming? I can barely keep mine from eating the brush. Also he hates the ear drop. I love your video!
c m i just think they are used to it :) make sure you have treats and positively reinforce the good behaviour!
