We lost our ruby cavalier during COVID, and it still feels so raw. That bond is so real and never quite goes away after they pass. This is the first video that I've seen of yours, and you seem like the perfect cavalier mama! They indeed are love sponges and need owners who love them just as much. Sending good vibes to your pups!
Long time Cavalier owner here. Shedding tip: You need to brush their hair every day and they will hardly shed (also brush their teeth daily). I do both brushings at bedtime every single day. Other than that they are an easy grooming breed. Bathing tip: For baths, I have the groomer use shampoo then conditioner, then rinse well, towel dry, brush them out, towel dry again and brush out. I then put a dog drying coat ( google it) on them and keep it on until they are dry (summer about 2 hours, winter about 4 hours). I Never have them blow dried, Never. Did I say Never? I meant NEVER! Once dry you take off their coat give them one last brushing and their hair lays flat and looks so pretty until they get wet again! I hope you find these tips helpful. Hi Herky and Milton! 💜Margie
Can you give me any suggestions where to buy a King Charles Cavalier without too expensive? The ones I searched online are 4000+ average, I really want to have one next year
My Cooper is my first dog too! Got him last year at the age of 60, my husband was not happy with me wanting a dog and kept asking "why?" I told him I wanted to experience it before I was too old. And what an experiences it's been, Cooper has me out all hours of the day and night, I've seen the beauty of the stars on clear nights, the awesome orange of sun set and sun rise, met all the neighbors and sill meeting more as his ability to go farther grows. I'd have to say for every one thing I'm glad I didn't know before I got him, there's a hundred more that I'm thankful for that I'm getting to know..........
I kept looking at puppies and my husband said no we were never going to have a dog in the house . He was raised that dogs were kept outside. I always believed that a dog is part of your family and they go in and out whenever they want. When I was 58 I made a decision that if I wanted a dog I was going to get one. Turned out he fell in love with our sweet girl. When she was 9 years old they cardiologist told us she had a heart murmur and if she took heart pills and meds to calm her down that we would have her for 1 1/2 years. Two weeks later she died. We were heartbroken and we were crying and crying. I have her ashes on the mantle and a beautiful photo right next to her. By the way she slept with us. We now have 2 Cavs and I look at them and I can’t believe we will have to say goodbye again.I have emphysema so I can’t let them sleep with us as Roxie did.
I wish I had known how feasible having a dog would be for me and my life style. Everyone always told me they'd be too much of an inconvenience or that it'd be too big of a responsibility. Then one day, I saw this cavalier boy online that no one had wanted. He was 7 months old and had already lived in 5 different households, none of which cared much for him - for absolutely no reason?? I said "Flip it, you're mine now". He deserves all the love in the world and my life has literally only changed for the better
Mischella same actually! Growing up my parents told me we couldn’t get a dog, people were saying how much time they take and how much of a burden they are. How wrong were they!
Mischella: Yup, my experience exactly. I adopted a senior chi mix with heart murmur & bad teeth. He is also pure black & apparently they are harder to find families for. I chose him for other reasons: quiet, affectionate, small... Now, he is the perfect dog (for me).
I found that rather encouraging, because I've kind of wondered if that was true about me too. Sounds more, though, like the sermon I've gotten when I complained of being lonely and wanting someone to marry. Man, you don't want to confide your loneliness to someone who married young or has been divorced because they will _not understand!_ the last thing I needed was to be told how hard married life is by someone who has a hand to hold at the end of the day. Anyway, I don't exactly have a set routine for my life each day, so setting a routine would be something I would need to get used to. I have my blessings, but my days are so scattered and I'm wondering if it's just because due to past experiences maybe I've just accepted that routines can't happen because things are always bound to come up so maybe I figured why bother trying? But I think it would help to start by going to bed at a decent hour and trying to stick with that. One night when I spent the night at my sister's house and my mother was out of town but her dog was there, I was told I could sleep in mom's bed with the dog and I remember my sister telling me the dog would need to go to bed and that whatever I wanted to do on my tablet it was better to do that in bed just to keep things consistent for little Lacey. She had said dogs are very schedule oriented and I was like "That's good to know." Lol thankfully, as shut up as my sleeping schedule is, I find it rather easy to settle down at a decent hour when I'm visiting family and I'm sure Lacey's presence by my side was extra soothing as well.
I have a 13 year old tri-color cavalier, I've had him since I was 9 years old. You aren't kidding about that feeling of your heart hurting from the love we have for our dogs. I totally get it haha! I treasure every single second I have with Toby. I know 13 is older for a cavalier, but I still see a puppy in his eyes.
You are lucky to have a great breeder . For a Cavalier to live until 13 years is special. I lost both of mine at the age of 11.10 years old & 11.6 years old. Still think that I am lucky enough❤❤ yes from CHF - mitral valve disease
I'm sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it can be, they are truly a member of the family. I missed having a dog and the few years we went without one while looking for a suitable dog due to my granddaughter's allergies really reinforced how wonderful it is to have them around. When we walk in the door after going to the grocery store, you'd think we'd have been gone for days, not just a couple hours. Molly jumps up and just wants to be loved and love in return. She gets a lot of attention, sleeping on my bed every night and is usually sitting or sleeping at my feet, as she is now, whenever we're sitting still. I can't imagine life without her. I've had wonderful dogs over the years ~ labrador retriever, golden retriever, a mixed collie/cocker spaniel and a couple so-called mutts who were absolutely adorable but she has one of the best personalities among all the dogs we've had. I'm looking forward to getting her a sister sometime in the next year or so. I couldn't agree more with your reminder to take the time to appreciate them daily. They are such innocent little creatures and totally dependent on us for care, love, etc.
Loved these comments. I’m 74 and have cavalier for 7 months now. She was 5 months we when we got her. We have a cat and they are only now tolerating each other. Or should I say for the cat to tolerate our sweet dog. I understand the attachment to this sweet dog from day one. She has won both my heart and my husband’s heart. She feels a place in our hearts we didn’t even know about.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, as a breed, suffer from mitral (heart) valve problems (sometimes). They live about 10-12 years. Do your research and buy from a very very reputable breeder. When people made comments about my pure bred dog I would reply, “do you have children?” If they said yes, I reply “then why didn’t you adopt a child in need of a good home?” That ended the conversation pretty quick. This beautiful dog breed needs a lot of attention in terms of love. They are very loyal and live for you. Good luck out there a one more note; no matter what DO NOT OVERFEED OR SPOIL WITH TABLE SCRAPS. The extra weight is really hard on their fragile hearts ❤️
My husband and I have recently visited a Cavalier breeder and fell in love with this breed. We went from being "on the fence" about Cavaliers to "yup, this is the one" in literal seconds. The adult Cavaliers jumped in our arms and immediately made us feel like family and the puppies were more joy than I can express. I can't explain the feeling we had during our short visit, but we are looking forward to becoming Cavie parents in hopefully not too terribly long!
@@pearlblasser8754 Hey, Pearl! We're still on the waiting list, but are expected to get our puppy sometime in autumn this year or early spring next year. We went to Kennel Roager in Denmark. :)
@@Aurora-uf1di My parents had to put one Cavalier down at less than five years old due to a spinal issue. Heartbreaking seeing this dog look at my parents as if asking for help because it had a very hard time moving and would yelp in pain. THEN, because they loved the personality/temperament so much, they tried another Cav. Last week it diagnosed with a heart problem. He is only 4 years old. So now the dog is not allowed to run and has to take medication. Not sure if he'll have a few years left... or months. Oh! I almost forgot. Because they are a brachycephalic breed they often have issues with their eyes and their breathing. Both of my parents' Cavs have had problems with their breathing. I think it is actually reprehensible that people continue to produce brachycephalic breeds when it is well-established that the shortened heads cause health problems.
You’re the only person I’ve ever seen that feels the same way about their dogs as I do. I get so emotional over my dogs and how much they adore me and my family. It breaks my heart that they only get a short time with us. 15 years just doesn’t seem like enough time with your best friends. I’ve got 2 cavaliers (jasper and norbit). They’re both completely different but both perfect in their own ways. I adore my dogs and would do anything for them. Sometimes I feel like I’m insane for getting so crazy/emotional over them, but this made me feel a lot better. Now I know I’m not the only one that cries thinking about their dogs even when they’re sitting right next to them. Look at that, I’m crying writing this comment hahaha
You mentioned that you have 2 cavs. I see that a lot. I am new to this breed. Can you tell me whether it’s better to have two or is having one ok. Thanks.
You have to understand some people have a fear of dogs. It may be because of an incident or because it's just their fear. So you can't say you don't know why people are scared because your dogs are nice💁🏽Nobodys knows if you're dogs are good or bad. I had a fear of dogs and I got over it after a loonngg time. I've been wanting a cavalier for a ages now since I started watching Jamie and Nikkis channel☺️❤️
It's one of those things only a ckc owner would understand I guess. I feel the same way too and this is coming from someone who still fears other dogs. I make a joke that my cav is a killer literally because he's the complete opposite. He doesn't even make a sound. I had to teach him to bark so when an adult is afraid of him and walks to the other side of the street or something it's always weird. Even my dog is confused because he's so use to everyone loving him. The best way I could put it is being afraid of this breed is like being afraid of a small child. But everyone has a fear of something so I'm not bashing.
As a child, I was chased by a pack of wild dogs so I was very afraid of dogs for a long time. I'm not afraid like I was when I was younger, but I get having a fear of dogs. Seriously it's nothing against you, it has to do with bad experiences. Also, I found out 20yrs ago I'm also allergic to dogs. So since I don't like my hands breaking out in hives & having to take medicine to stop it I'm not interested in petting your dog.
RIRI i love dogs but it’s the same as someone walking around with a massive spider your gonna be scared and avoid them different people have different fears and I think people that laugh at other people who are scared of cats and dogs are wrong 🤷🏻♀️
We are our getting our puppy in 5 weeks so I watched number of your videos.. We are located in Oshawa, ON, Canada.... .by the way I am also a full time TH-camr (teach video though) .... this video I loved the most. Not for the advice you say but you show your personality, vulnerability... you are a true human with feelings. Thank you very much for this. I am a bit nervous but super excited about our upcoming puppy so I am trying to find as much information as I can. Many of your videos are truly helpful. Many greetings and tons of success to your channel
I have a Cockalier (Lucy) and the intensity some people have when telling me off for getting a dog from a breeder is unreal. I feel like I have to justify that choice all the time, even though I did a LOT of research and got her from a reputable breeder. I looked at shelters and rescue groups for two years for a dog that matched a profile of what I wanted and could handle in a dog, and found nothing. I live in Colorado, there are a bunch of rescue dogs here which is AWESOME- but it just wasn't for me. The lack of respect for that choice is awful.
Michelle Mehnert i totally agree with you. I stopped answering when people ask me “which breeder are your girls from”. And that seems to be the first thing people ask you, sometimes before even saying hi. When I answered, they would judge and pass comments that I find are unnecessary. Filtering those people are great for my mind.
Getting a healthy dog from a good breeder saves you and your family a lot of heartache and pain because you won't have to lose your beloved pet too soon. If people can educate others about the importance of buying from reputable breeders, maybe we can put the puppy mills and brokers out of business, then there will be fewer dogs who have to be rescued. Reminding people of the importance of spaying and neutering a dog that won't be used for breeding make for fewer dogs in shelters as well. Love your little pup and ignore the mean-spirited people.
Let me clarify something before people get offended by what I said. I have nothing against getting a rescue pet. The first dog we had when our children were young was a black lab mix which we got from the local animal shelter. We all loved her as much as we do our Cavaliers. We wouldn't have been able to afford a purebred at the time so it was the perfect situation for us then and her. She however had lots of health problems, costing us a lot in vet bills, and eventually died of nasal cancer. (We made sure to buy pet insurance with our next dog) It was hard watching her be so ill. With a rescue you don't always know what breed mix your getting or the state of its health. If you're looking for a specific breed for temperament, health and other traits, it makes sense to get one from a reputable breeder. An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Our Cavaliers were the perfect fit for our family. They're very adaptable to the owner's situation. They're great with kids and other pets and just the most lovable dogs you'll ever meet. That isn't to say they are free of all heath problems. All dogs have inherent health issues no matter the breed,. We all have the right to own whatever breed of dog we want whether it's a rescue or not without feeling guilty.
Completely agree. Rescuing a dog then realising you can’t handle that particular dog due to breed characteristic, personality, temperament is not good for the dog. If you find the perfect rescue then absolutely go for it but otherwise you’ll just become one of the many homes the dog has the leave
I have Purebred dogs but i do have a problem with your dog since its a designer dog, Made to make money!!! So no you did not get your dog from a good breeder.
We rescued my first cavi and when we found out about her heart in the first week of having her, we were told she’d have a year of love and happiness. We ended up with six years of the best dog ever. She passed recently and though it was sad we were so happy for all the years we had with her. My dad recently surprised my family with getting a cavi puppy from a breeder in our area who is very reputable. Little Santi comes home in September!!
The more & more I learn about Cavalier’s I fall more & more in love with them & know they are the dog for me! Thank you for creating this channel, I have been eating up your content! Helps me feel way more prepared before I get my own. I cried with you as you talked about how much you love them, I Can’t wait for that kind of a bond! Thank you for being you!
Carlos and I cry any time we talk about how much we love Lemon and Rue! They aren’t here for forever and we want EVERY SECOND of their life to be filled with joy and love. The love of a dog is one of life’s greatest gifts ❤️❤️❤️ I always say I would take a bullet for either of my girls. They are our whole world!
We had to put our Cavalier down last Thursday. Such a heartbreak. She was our third Cavalier. They are absolutely the sweetest dispositioned dogs I've ever seen. Their wish to please makes them easy to train and to have as a companion.
My Blenheim is 3 months old born on September 4th and my 10 year old tri color was born May 31st 2008 3 month old name = Chance 10 year old name = Buster
We have had Emmy The Cavalier for 9 years now and we cant imagine our life without her. Pure love,,gentleness and joy describes her and I could so relate to your video. I shed a tear or two also as my feelings for her are that intense. Thank you for sharing ........
Great video!!! I had a beautiful Cavalier named Madi. I wish I'd have known more about health issues associated with the breed. My vet had told me how they were pre-disposed to mitral valve disease and was checked regularly, but I did not know they were also pre-disposed to autoimmune disease. This is what took my sweet girl's life at only 4 1/2 years old. If I had known about this prior, a simple blood test on a regular basis could have saved her life. Losing her was devastating as she was like my child and very much a part of my family. She was the sweetest thing...never barked and loved everyone! I was just getting ready to do Angel on a Leash training with her so that we could visit nursing home and hospital patients. I will add a couple more Cavaliers to my family in the future. Like all our precious pets, they bring so much joy!!! Thanks for sharing your sweet babies!!!!
I love how emotional she is about her dogs. I am the same way with my two doodles. I love them so much and am overcome when I think about how much they love me and what joy they bring into my life. Thanks for the video! I wish all dogs had such loving owners!
I love that you got emotional when you were talking about how much they love you, this makes me feel better because I always feel the same way with my cav, if I leave her to go to work- which is usually only 4-5 hours so not even very long it’s like she hasn’t seen me for years!! I know I am her entire world!! They are such great companions and super loyal to us. Love the channel keep up the good work!
I have a blenham cav called Cookie. She's my world. Every morning when I feel tired and moody then I see her and she's so happy to see me it melts my heart and I smile literally every moment she's around x
I just lost my 10-1/2 year cav Miss Molly. It’s like a huge part of my life is missing. She had a hear murmur and despite meds over the years, her kidneys shut down. It was heartbreaking to say he least. Loved her so much. My little shadow.
I lost my Cavalier Grace on Christmas Eve last year. I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a beloved pet is always so painful and the first few days are always the hardest. It was so hard losing Grace, but letting myself cry and grieve how I needed to helped a lot. I hope you have a good community around you who will help you through this.
I have a Molly, too, so sorry for your loss. I hope that soon your wonderful memories of her will fill your heart more than the sorrow you feel at losing her. It takes time but it will happen.
So sorry I lost my Charlie in July 2014 aged 9 to heart failure which was heartbreaking.💔 I also lost my Molly in August this year aged 15.3 years she didn't take any medication and was a happy little girl but her back legs went and I couldn't watch her falling everywhere so such a sad day when we say goodbye to them.😢
Love love my Cavie! It’s such love! I am retired so I spend a lot of time with him! We have a cocker spaniel as well. They are the same age & get along well! I remember watching your video about 5 yrs ago & I am happy to see you again! God Bless you all this new year!😊❤
You are so sweet. I can absolutely relate to how much you love your little guys. I have a nine year old golden retriever. He is a special needs dog who has diabetes and thyroid disease. He is blind, but, having said all that, he’s a very happy and immensely loved. He fetches his ball and brings it back to me - and he’d do it all day if he could. He puts his head down a little and listens to where it lands and then sniffs until he finds it. He’s a huge joy in my life. Loved hearing you talk about your Cavaliers! 💕
We had 3 Cavaliers and the last one passed in Feb. The sweetest dogs ever. Wish I knew how serious and devastating the heart murmurs can be and how it affects them, all the medications, the emergency vet visits, the cardiologist visits, the bad ear infections, and the shedding. We loved them dearly. When I did research on the breed initially, no one explained the consequences of the problems. If contemplating this breed please talk with a veterinarian.
I have cavaliers and I feel like all of these are mostly common sense with all dogs. A few things to really know with a cavalier: HEALTH: you need to make sure your cavaliers have a healthy bloodline - 80% get a heart mur mur by age three and it’s really something you should be fully aware of. It’s really important to make sure you take them for check ups. Training: they need POSITIVE reinforcement because they’re so loving. Cavs are sensitive and very eager to please, they will never do something purposely to go against you so nothing but love. Food: cavaliers are VERY picky eaters - Stella and chewys is great. Raw goats milk is also really great for getting your dogs probiotics. Raw hide is terrible for ALL dogs because they cannot digest it. You can by ‘no-hide’ chews and those are great! 💗 Socializing: cavaliers are incredibly loving and social dogs - make sure you socialize them when they’re young with all different kinds of dogs and people of all ages. Just make sure that when you take your dog to the park you allow your cav to venture and say hi to other dogs but be the safe space for them and really give them encouragement. Let them know that they’re doing well. It’s funny but my dog used to seem nervous and a little verbal encouragement really helped! Now she’s obsessed with kids, loves all dogs, doesn’t bark. Cavaliers are truly the best 💗💗💗
About the comment on ppl being deadly afraid. I have a sister and one time when she was walking to the bus stop for school a dog chased her for a while she had to hide in an apartment complex for a pretty long while. That was over 7 years ago and she still backs off neighbor's dog whenever she visits. I'm just saying ppl may have bad history that they just cant shake, which is a shame cuz I always have puppy fever :/.
Thank you for your video. Love it. I had a tri color cavalier that passed away last October. Her name was Penny Lane. My husband & adored her. She had such a sweet, kind, and loving disposition. We could take her anywhere and she made friends with people & other dogs no problem. We adopted a Ruby cavalier named Rocket this past summer from a Breeder that couldn’t use her for breeding because she was too small. She was a year old when we got her. Wow, sweet girl Rocket never got much love or attention before us. We are so glad we saved her from her old life. We’ve had her now for 2 months and we have a lot work still ahead of us. She’s a ton of work but, we couldn’t imagine our lives without her.
Everything you said is spot on. Your boys look just like my little Buddy. We had him since a pup and sadly he passed away at age 11. It broke our hearts. He had heart issues( Mitral valve) which sadly is common in King Charles Cavaliers. The house felt so empty we took an extended trip across country. It was still hard because he went everywhere with us. We came home to the same empty house .2 days later by pure chance we adopted Rex, a year old Rescue Shih Tzu mix. I originally wanted another KCC, and again by chance, I rescued a king Charles Cav who was in bad shape. Charley was already 3 years old. He was shaved because his hair was so matted and flea infested. Bad teeth and many had to be pulled because the hair was embedded in his gums. He also had a scratched eye, never neutered and afraid of everything. Today the boys play and do everything together. Charley has come along way and just as sweet as can be. Because Rex arrived 1 month earlier he's the boss and Charley is fine with that. We love our boys. Just wanted to share our story and tell you how right you are in what you say. We'll keep on watching your great work & love you show your boys. The Florida Grandma
Thank you. This video was so heartwarming. We just lost our baby boy of 14 years. He was a chocolate cocker spaniel and our family's heart. Love you babies as much as you can because you are right their time with us is always too short. Your pups are beautiful.
OMG THE SHEDDING IS REAL. No one says anything, but I run our Roomba once, sometimes twice a day. I am also kind of offended when people are scared of Clover. Like...he literally looks like a stuffed animal LOL. I can relate to almost all of these (I only have one dog, so I only have one puppy experience). I learned a lot about Cavaliers from watching your channel before I got my little cav, so thank you for everything you do. My life has improved by 100x from my little guy being in my life, so I can totally relate! I want to be with him all the time!
@@borismansion How lucky! The shedding for my guy is especially bad in Fall and Spring when the seasons are changing and he gets brushed a lot. Who knows? LOL Just thank goodness for the Roomba!
Searching for a female Cavalier anyone have ideas about a breeder or a shelter that has this breed for adoption or purchase. I'm willing to travel. Live in Florida.
Our daughter was also afraid of dogs ... no idea why. After purchasing our Cav this is completely over. Our whole family loves our Ella so much. She means the world for us. I understand you completely. A Cavelier mom xxx
I appreciate the informative information you provided. I also appreciate the passion you have for your cavaliers. They are a very good breed of dog, very loving and love attention. I’ve had 1 before and learned so much about dogs long the way. The puppy stage is insane and makes you want to return the dog but when you get over that stage it’s nothing but pure love. I appreciated my experience with my cavalier. The most loving and peaceful dog.
Lelia L I looked and looked on line for a rescue. Every time I found one we could get to, it was gone. I also have a handicapped son, so I need a young trainable pup for him for a therapy dog. This is why we went to a breeder. Also, many of the rescues already have so many health issues, not easy to afford.
Lelia L it’s actually extremely difficult to find a Cavalier in rescue. I had an application for 10 different Cav rescues and tried applying for five years. Definitely gave it my best shot.
We also looked to rescue a Cavalier, and the application process pretty intense with over 200 others trying to get one dog. Sadly we were not chosen, but happily that dog has a happy well interviewed home. I wish it was like that for every dog in need.
haha, I'm glad to know someone loves their Cavaliers as much as me! We had two lovebugs pass away within two years (don't worry, they lived long, happy lives) and it was devastating. After some mourning time we are getting our new puppy in October and we can't wait to spoil another Cav baby and give it the best life possible! Great video, thanks for sharing!
I can't imagine my life without my Cavalier. It's so much better than I ever imagined. I researched the breed for 9 months before getting one but there was still so many things I didn't know, like the teeth isssue or the intense shedding. The fur is so fine you might not realize how bad it is until you live with it. I also didn't know about a blood condition, a benign inhereted giant platlet disorder called thrombocytopenia, and when a vet said my dog was enemic I was terrified. He was do for dental work and the vet wouldn't do the procedure and sounded so worried but she was informed by a blood technician and all was well the next day. It seems even some good vets lack some knowledge on the breed. I think in my state they aren't common so that could be part of the reason. I also didn't know how the snow would just become huge ball in their fur, especially if their fur is fine, living in Michigan that;s a hurdle. The one thing I did get right about the breed is how wonderful they are for housebound seniors. I care for my parents and this little dog is always first in their thoughts. He's gentle, loving, and so aware of them. He make them laugh, smile, and is their favorite indiviual to talk to. He brightens their day and cares for them when they are down. He's the perfect size, samll enough for the lap but large enough he gets under foot. I guess I knew he was the best thing I did for me but also my Father when he insisted that his new easy chair needed to be a little wider for the dog to sit next to him.
I definitely agree with the shedding. Before my first cavalier I wish I really knew how common it was for them to have heart murmurs. I had heard about it but I guess I didn’t think it was as common as it is. It is heartbreaking as my oldest cav is 11 and is slowly deteriorating from heart disease. My second cav, I accepted the fact that there are hereditary health issues and didn’t realise that there are breeders out there that do the proper testing on their stud dogs to ensure they do not have these issues to pass on to the litters. So I adopted my second cav Milo from a rescue. He is amazing but again like my first cav Bella, has just started showing signs of a heart murmur. My most recent cav Teddy is 18 months old, and I did a lot more research into where to get him from and found a breeder that did all the right testing. He wasn’t cheap by any means but I really didn’t want another cav that will have a high chance of these health issues and have to watch them go through it. Teddy is a beautiful cav and so far no health issues, his parentage were champion show dogs and he has the most loving and cuddly nature of all 3 cavs. So in summary, I really wish I knew more about choosing the right breeder and the genetic issues. I think if you are concerned about the health issues you should find the right breeder that can at least give you a fair assurance from testing of the stud dogs that your puppy is unlikely to have the genetic health issues. If you aren’t so concerned or feel as if you can handle anything that comes up I believe you should try and adopt from a rescue. I personally do not think supporting breeders that may be breeding with dogs with genetic issues is a good thing. I believe that breeding is okay if it is done to improve the breed not just for the sake of having puppies.
make sure you keep a close eye on the ones who already have been found to have a heart murmur and get it constantly checked out. My cav is going to die any day now and she went from having a slight heart murmur to being in the final stages of heart failure in a matter of 5 months
Thank you so much for your honest comment. I’ve been in love with this breed forever, and everyone around me is basically against me having it because of the high chance of diseases, but I think if you get the tests done and choose a good breeder then chances are lower. Is like with us humans, sometimes it doesn’t matter how healthy you are some things happen, but at least you know you’re doing everything you can to mitigate it.
I know how you feel about Herky and Milton...I feel the same about my Katie Rose. They are so dependent on us for "everything". Everything you said is so true! The Cav hair is everwhere!! They can look at you with their big beautiful brown eyes and I just melt. Their look is so full of love for us. Love you, Jodi & Kate
You are just the cutest thing! I agree with all you say about how wonderful and full to the brim of love they are. And I have had the same realizations about our new puppy. He is an Aussielier and 8 weeks old and will bite and chew EVERYTHING that will fit into his mouth. I am scared of all the shedding and intend to look into every way possible to keep it down to a minimum. You mentions about the treats and raw hides! He came from the breeder with a pigs ear and he has been chewing on it quite a bit. Can you suggest some good treats, toys and what you wouldn't recommend? I, too, want to give this little gift the absolute best life I can possibly give him, because as you said, they are with us for such a short period of time and we ARE their everything. Thank you so much for this video. I truly enjoyed it.
Omg your dogs are absolutely beautiful. This video made me happy and emotional 😭 I have 2 dogs and they are my everything. My cavi boy honestly changed my life, he made me better person then what I was before him. From young age he stared having many health issues and he’s been through so much but he is just a fighter. My husband and I couldn’t have children so our dogs get all our attention. I’m so happy to have them in our life’s its best thing we ever decided to do. Our dogs loves us so much.
So helpful...shedding, food, play, how much they love you...all ring true for our Bella. I feel like I have an extension on my hip but love her so much I hurt. She is a true blessing in my life. She just wants to be with me and loves whoever comes into my life.
I just got mine today! She’s 3. I already love her and I’m convinced she’s going to be the best dog I’ve ever had by far! I watched your video last night in anticipations of picking her up. Love it!
My cavalier was just diagnosed with psychomotor seizures. He is a 4 year old tri-color. They have put him on medication for it and it seems to be decreasing the frequency. He is my 3rd cavalier, the first passed away from age and heart issues, my 2nd was killed by my neighbors dog. I'm so scared of losing my boy. He is such a blessing every day. He always puts a smile on my face no matter how difficult the day was. I did not realize seizures were an issue for them. The love they give is so incredible.
I just came across your channel, I’ve been a Cav owner for 13 years my girl Sophie has been such a joy. My only regret is that I was still working when we got her, and I couldn’t spend more time with her as a puppy. People that have owned a Cav I’m sure will understand they are the best.
What a wonderful video! I have three much older Cavaliers. Mine are almost 14, almost 12 and almost 10. I can so relate to how you feel about Herky and Milton. I have felt this way my whole life, since I was a little girl with two cocker spaniels. My husband and I when we were first married had three cocker spaniels. Now we have three Cavaliers and I can’t imagine having any other breed ever again. When I was in my 20s I felt the same way that you do about dogs, however we didn’t have smart phones or Instagram etc. I know that sounds dated and I’m not that old LOL but I didn’t have this kind of community. It warms my heart that there are so many people out there like me. You remind me so much of myself and my obsession and deep deep Love for my dogs. My life truly revolves around them and nothing else. I wouldn’t change that for anything. The love that I feel for them makes me cry also. It is such a great and beautiful love that I can’t explain. I have had people in the past judge me and it has been hard because I wasn’t sure there were other people out there like us. I am so happy to a found a great Instagram Cavalier community. We love watching your videos and Herky and Milton‘s adventures. We just received our hoodies from Cavology brand and hope to support your brand and her key and Milton. We love to support our fellow cavalier friends. Keep up the great videos we look forward to seeing them all the time. We’re still catching up! Again thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pups with us.From Lina:@3wildercavies
You are so right about how SWEET they are, only another Cav owner understands what you mean!! I am a proud Cav mom of a 6 yr old Tri color. The love they have for you is like no other, all they want is to please you, and be with you! You are TRULY their world!! ♥️🐶♥️
Thank you so much for being so genuine! I've always wanted to have a dog and so I research a lot about it. I want to make sure that I am able to give them everything including time. This has made me really think it through for myself and not just being influenced about what other people think.
Exactly! You love them so much it hurts. I couldn't say better. My Cavie is 6 months old and there are no words to describe how much love I have for him🐕🦺💚
Aawwwwww I LOVE that you got emotional when saying how much they just want to be around you two. It truly is a heartwarming, grounding bit of realization to come to. ♥️
Subscribed! I lost my beautiful 10 1/2 yr old old angel cavi on january 19th to congestive heart failure...she was my first cav, and i have been completely devastated...everything you said from the last minute and a half is exactly how i felt about my Roxy....she was my heart dog, my angel, my best friend, my dearest companion....my heart will never be the same... your babies are so beautiful, and herky does the same things roxy did...all the pawing!! Love it... :)
Aloha e~ My Sophie, the sweetness of my life, has been in heaven for 3 years now and my heart has never mended. Cavies are so very sweet and so very devoted; Soph was there when two of my sons were deployed and she kept all of my secrets. Oh, how I miss my sweet little girl!
Beautiful doggos 😍 Also, as someone who used to have a phobia of dogs, don't take it personally if someone is afraid of your girls. I was afraid of dogs because I was attacked by one when I was little.
No, i don't find you being pushy with your opinions. You are just enlightening us on the breed that you have. Giving us pointers to think about before getting a pet. Things that may not even cross or minds on the commitment it takes to have a pet which is no different than having a child. So, thank you for this video. You have a wonderful heart.
That was a beautiful video. I felt the exact same way about my beloved senior dog that just passed. I, too, wanted to spend as much time w him as possible bc he brought me so much joy and love.
This is an adorable video! Your love for your babies is obvious. We're looking into adopting an older Cav, and you brought up points I had not considered from other channels I've watched. Thank you for your honesty and your kind heart. Your dogs are precious babies!
I have'nt got a dog yet , but I also hope to get a Cavalilier King Charles one day ( a cousin is helping me get one ) as she knows some people that BREED them ,being physically disabled and a wheelchair user , just hope I can cope , posting from London ENGLAND
I totally agree with you. Nobody loves you as much as your dog. They are so dear. This world is a much better place because of them. I sometimes wish people were be more like them. ☺
First time on your channel. Enjoyed your vlog! My wife and I can relate to everything you said. As far as food goes, we changed to a raw diet and my girl loves it! Shes very healthy, no teeth issue and NO bad breath. Shes been on it for about 1 year now. She is 2 years old. Just sharing my experience! Thanks
Thanks so much for your heartfelt video! Last Thursday my Thumper got sick and we had to put him down on Friday. We are Senior Citizens and were lucky to be able to spend a great deal of time at home with him. Such a happy dog with a fun character and the unconditional love - Wow! I am totally not ready but my husband says that I will be so lonely in our home without a dog. I am researching best dogs for Seniors and The Cav was recommended so your video was really helpful. At my age it wouldn't be fair to the pet to get a puppy so an older dog would be better. But so many things to consider there as well. Anyway, thanks again for your video. Your pups are so great. And you are such an honest, loving dog owner. I too teared up when you did.
Anyone and everyone who gets a Cavalier King Charles should know that this breed is extremely prone to a birth defect called Chiari Like Malformation -CLM. It is a deformity of the skull that causes compression on the back of the brain. This can be extremely painful and dogs don't always express pain in the ways we think they do. It can be a serious condition and costly as well. I've been involved with research concerning this for almost a decade now and I strongly recommend you find out more before adding a CKCS to your family. www.caninechiariinstitute.org/
YES and heart failure which my very youthful 8 year old is going through now. She went from being fine to being in the final stages in a matter of months. They try to tell you the heart problems come on in old age but from my extensive research on it, it sounds like a majority die young from it.
@@finaarmania1173 yes unfortunately its too common of an issue with CKCS. im sorry to hear its hit your pup so young. there are some really great cardiologists out there so i hope youve had a chance to see one.
Thank you for stating this and providing the link. I can't believe all the people commenting here who seem to have no clue! I've now lost 5 Cavaliers to MVD or CM/SM. I feel for the dogs who have owners who apparently don't have a clue about what to be watching for.
🤣🤣no lie about the shedding… yes live, learn & adapt. Lint rollers are found everywhere at my home and vehicles. We also chose our carpet color to blend with the fur. Sweep daily but still every adaptation helps. We tease and say people who visit us go home with fur slippers. 🤣🤣
I have had dogs all my life. Until my current 2 babies, I have always had large breed dogs. My current dogs are a 6lb Chiweenie and a 12lb Tri Cavalier. They are SO incredibly loving. My cav, (Reinha= queen in Portuguese), she is the most loving and cuddly dog I have ever had. When I go to work, she walks me to the door. However, she knows when I'm not going to work...this is when the separation anxiety kicks in. My girls typically go everywhere with me, but there are times that I cannot bring them (summer time as it's too hot in the car). She literally wails and howls. It's heartbreaking. Luckily I don't have to leave her home very often. I love my cav and wish I could find a Black and Tan pup to add to our pack. Thanks so much for sharing. I agree 100% of this video, but it's all worth the love of your dog will give you.
I am totally a crazy in love fur baby mom too! We recently had to say goodbye to our Cavalier Precious and I can not even begin to to express the sense of loss our whole family feels. No matter how hard the goodbyes the moments and memories are worth it all. We are now waiting on our little Kasper to come home, my sweet little caviler puppy. I can not wait to raise another of these amazing animals!
I am dreading the moment I have to say goodbye to Herky and Milton. I have never had to deal with grief much (thankfully), and don't know how I will handle it.
I have a cocker spaniel and I wish I had a cavalier too ...having a dog is relaxing and they make your life wonderful and sweet ....you just become happy ....now with the lockdown I don't feel lonely or stressed because of my dog ....the best company in the world .
Each to their own on the shedding. My Cav doesn’t bother me much at all with shedding, we just vaccum a little more often. My brother owns four huskies - a cav’s shedding is nothing. There is hair around but it’s nothing to complain about. For our cav anyway. X
yes my cav sophie isn't to bad I just get out the mop and the hair gets mopped up and I put that in the bin also I try to keep her fur short only in the summer besides that I have had cav's for years now but never had a problem with them. only to do with their heart murmur's
In 93 I got my 1st Cavalier Lady. She had Cruciate ligament op&Luxating Patella op. Lady was a wonderful girl easy to train. She was as big as a Working Cocker Spaniel boy.
They are such amazing dogs, we love our Cavalier, one thing we didn't realise was our Cavalier has a big prey drive!! She has like 2 modes, chasing birds or sleeping on someones lap.
Dogs, in general, add so much to their owners’ lives, but Cavaliers are, as you say, so full of love that unless you have been around one you cannot truly understand how wonderful the are.
Whatever you are telling it seems you are actually speaking my words, so true, every single word, we have a cav boy and our world revolves around him, thank you so much for your kind words
I've owned 2 Cavaliers of my own, and helped care for 5 others (my elderly next door neighbor's). The 3 things I wish I'd known about the breed is 1. YOU HAVE TO BRUSH THEIR TEETH EVERY SINGLE DAY! People think you can just give them chew sticks and that will do the trick, but that is NOT true. I could even give my dachshund chews to clean it's teeth successfully, but not so for Cavaliers. Their teeth are too small to have the chews be effective, and rinses, and sprays only do so much. It takes 48 hours for the plaque to form on their teeth and brushing with an enzyimatic dog toothpaste is the best way to stop the plaque. 2. Cleaning tooth plaque is huge part of keeping your dog's heart healthy. And finally, don't disregard joining a breed club...breed clubs know huge amounts about health issues about your Cavalier (or German Shepard, Poodle, etc., etc.) that can help you maintain the health of your pet. Most clubs arrange low cost health clinics where medical specialists give exams and advise on treatments. And they arrange fun days get togethers with like minded souls. They don't care if your dog is a rescue or AKC GCh. AND usually know first of rescues (that THEY support through donations) that you could adopt. Clubs are a great resource.
we have a big backyard that can get muddy and my cav likes to run out and chase birds. I've found keeping his fur short will definitely help with all the shedding and helps to keep him clean. This is the only way i've found that i can tolerate the shedding.
You seem to be an amazing dog owner! You can see you love them so much. Yes they are a full time commitment...they are like a child that never grows up. They need you for everything ... I’ve always wanted a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Could you speak about how you found a breeder? Thank you for sharing your story❤️❤️
I completely agree! Bella is one of the best things to have ever happened to me! I knew that when I got her, my life and schedule would be changed, but I was ready for that. The few times that she wakes me up early to go out, etc are well worth it. I love the neverending love and devotion, and I wish I could spend every second of my day with her, even if she's just sleeping in my lap or next to me. Dogs are the absolute best, and I couldn't imagine never having a dog! ❤️❤️
HEY EVERYONE!! I have an important question: I'm getting my Cavvie puppy on the 3rd!!! I'm so excited!!! It's my first Cavalier. So what I wanted to ask, if rawhide chews are bad, are the bully sticks bad too? Like the pizzle sticks? I also know what you mean about baby crazy... I can't shut up about my new puppy and I literally made tons of snapshots out of the video I took of her, just so I can stare at them haha!! It's like I want to know her so badly! I study all her markings, too haha! (P.S. I wanted to add, I ask about the pizzle sticks because I see so many Cav owners give them to their dogs and I thought they were ok, BUT I'm going to try my hardest to give my dog everything healthy and to stay away from the garbage!)
Honestly, one thing REALLY important to do for them health wise is to brush their teeth. They need it. If you don't do it they can develop bad infections/health problems. I know it might sound weird, but I'm talking from experience. Also, be aware that they can have a lot of genetic health issues, so I'd recommend being aware and sometime when your lil pup is grown checking the heart at vet visits for sounds (heartproblems), since it is a horrible common thing among Cavvies. If they DO have a "sound", be aware that it will most likely worsen as they get older, and don't be afraid to get medicine for them to make them more comfortable.
hi i have a Cav Blenheim too! Do Not Give them rawhide! rawhide doesn't digest in their tummies but bully sticks are not rawhide they do digest so its ok - just remove them when your dog chews it down and remove when they get small enough so your dog doesn't swallow the hole thing. My dog did swallow a pizzle that was big about 4 or 5" and i freaked - Not good but the bully did digest if it was rawhide i would be in trouble.
Kelly Ehrich bully sticks are good and safe chews 👍🏻 you just have to always supervise them when they chew it and make sure they don’t swallow them when they get too short :)
Great video Mai! You touched on all the topics one needs to know about this extraordinary breed. They live to love and fill your heart so the shedding and grooming become a routine of care because you want them with you forever.
I have a Cavachon. He is the sweetest, kindest, most loving, smart dog anyone could ever hope for. I'm like you and wish I would have learned more before getting him. I would have been so much easier for him. He is my world and I can't imagine anyone not loving him like I do but there have been people that are downright rude. He loves everyone and assumes everyone loves him but as we know that's not the case. Personally, I think anyone that doesn't love a dog is missing something in their make up and we know what they're missing every day. I can't stand to be away from him. When I have to leave him, I hurry home. I don't want to miss any more time with him than I have to. Thanks for doing your videos. I learn something every time. Merry Christmas.
Hi another great video, am getting a blenheim puppy in February, pups are 2 days overdue now, so hoping all goes well. Know it will change my life as am a sedentary pensioner at the moment. Thanks for all your blogs and will be visiting cavology when pup is big enough to fit into pyjamas etc xxx
Thank-you. I have always wanted one but am going crazy with a boxer with endless allergy issues and a Jack. BOTH shed tons of hair and I also wear neutral colours!
Wow, this brought me to tears. I can totally relate to soo many things you said. This unconditional love is so pure and beautiful and we should appreciate it everyday. ♥️ You have such a loving bond with them & thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us. All the best to you! Juli 🌷 P.S. i think we should start selling pullovers made out of cav-hair. We‘d never run out of stock 😂
My husband is a UPS driver. He says the only dogs he's not afraid of walking up to are huskies (they get a bad wrap) and cavaliers. He's been bit by more small dogs than any other size. Not everyone knows that cav's are big babies though. We have a husky and a cavalier though so his opinion may be slightly skewed lol.
💜Margie
Bless you for this comment!! Will be getting a Cav in a few weeks so I’m definitely taking notes from everything you said
Thx I’m tryna convince for a dog so this is helpful
You need to make a video. Would be so cool to see your daily routine with your dog
❤🐕🐩
Thx
I'd have to say for every one thing I'm glad I didn't know before I got him, there's a hundred more that I'm thankful for that I'm getting to know..........
one of the best comments ive ever read.
So beautiful 🥹🥲
That's such a great perspective! 😊
What a beautiful comment. Thank you for sharing it!
We lost our Cavalier Sunday. The best dog we have ever had.
Jessica DuBois I’m sorry 😐
I just lost my cavalier last Sunday. She was the best dog ever
I a so sorry for your loss
We just lost ours. Only dog I’ve ever had. Miss her little body next to me at night.
I’m sorry for your loss Jessica hope you feel bette
Once you find “your” dog the sacrifices seem totally insignificant

I have a 13 year old tri-color cavalier, I've had him since I was 9 years old. You aren't kidding about that feeling of your heart hurting from the love we have for our dogs. I totally get it haha! I treasure every single second I have with Toby. I know 13 is older for a cavalier, but I still see a puppy in his eyes.
You are lucky to have a great breeder . For a Cavalier to live until 13 years is special. I lost both of mine at the age of 11.10 years old & 11.6 years old. Still think that I am lucky enough❤❤ yes from CHF - mitral valve disease
One of my dogs just passed away just out of the blue, so please remember to be with them everyday because you never know what will happen.
Im so sorry!
So sorry 🙁 I lost one 4 years ago and another in August .
😥 My Condolences! Hugs
I'm so sorry about your dog
Loved these comments. I’m 74 and have cavalier for 7 months now. She was 5 months we when we got her. We have a cat and they are only now tolerating each other. Or should I say for the cat to tolerate our sweet dog. I understand the attachment to this sweet dog from day one. She has won both my heart and my husband’s heart. She feels a place in our hearts we didn’t even know about.
Cavaliers are the sweetest dogs they dont have a malicious bone in their body .
Also 85-90% of this breed has Chiari Malformation.
They also suffer from syringomyalyia my dog has it but he’s 13 and going strong. Depends on the severity
I say this too!
Amy Bowers that is such a good response re buying a pure breed dog , I must remember this the next time someone says adopt only .
Amy Bowers my mom has a min pin and her and my dad spoil her and I yell at them
My husband and I have recently visited a Cavalier breeder and fell in love with this breed.
I can totally relate! Hope you both get to be cav parents SOON!
Did you get your puppy yet? I see this posting is from a year ago. Can you tell me the breeder was? You can private message me. Thank you
@@pearlblasser8754 Hey, Pearl! We're still on the waiting list, but are expected to get our puppy sometime in autumn this year or early spring next year. We went to Kennel Roager in Denmark. :)
@@Aurora-uf1di hi it’s been a year, did you get ur pup yet?🥺
Emily Bayfield awww I’m right there with you mama ❤️❤️❤️ I feel you!
I agree!
I agree
You mentioned that you have 2 cavs. I see that a lot. I am new to this breed. Can you tell me whether it’s better to have two or is having one ok. Thanks.
@@LeeloBush better to have 2, they bond and comfort each other when you are away.
I have a fear of staffs if I see one I panic but I wouldn't be without my Cavaliers.
The fear reaction may be from allergies in some people.
We have two Cavaliers. The love they give is unbelievable.
Emily Davis i feel the same way! ❤️
We had to put our Cavalier down last Thursday. Such a heartbreak. She was our third Cavalier. They are absolutely the sweetest dispositioned dogs I've ever seen. Their wish to please makes them easy to train and to have as a companion.
Do Cavalier bark a lot?
We have had our Cavalier boy Cashew since September - he has brought so much joy to our life. The love is incredible 💜
Awww
My Blenheim is 3 months old born on September 4th and my 10 year old tri color was born May 31st 2008
3 month old name = Chance
10 year old name = Buster
Glad you can relate with me
I love that you got emotional when you were talking about how much they love you, this makes me feel better because I always feel the same way with my cav, if I leave her to go to work- which is usually only 4-5 hours so not even very long it’s like she hasn’t seen me for years!! I know I am her entire world!! They are such great companions and super loyal to us.
Love the channel keep up the good work!
It is incredibly sweet and heart breaking how much they love us
I have a blenham cav called Cookie.
So sorry to hear about sweet Molly. We will say a prayer for her tonight
I am so sorry.
God Bless you all this new year!😊❤
My dream dog bread😍😱
Jovi_Fox bread🥖🍞?
Jovi_Fox I have one
Me too
I've got 2 did have 4 but two have sadly passed.
THE BEST!
Joe's unexpected death from Mitral Valve Prolapse, 1 week after his annual checkup, absolutely devastated me. Who can I go to???!!!
I have cavaliers and I feel like all of these are mostly common sense with all dogs.
A few things to really know with a cavalier:
HEALTH: you need to make sure your cavaliers have a healthy bloodline - 80% get a heart mur mur by age three and it’s really something you should be fully aware of.
Socializing: cavaliers are incredibly loving and social dogs - make sure you socialize them when they’re young with all different kinds of dogs and people of all ages.
Totally understand!
The Organized Soprano yes mama we’re on the same boat!
Maybe they have cynophobia? I do.
Are we talking about the same dogs? Our cav hardly sheds. We try to brush her every day and that helps a lot.
The Organized Soprano I have a withe cat I don’t wear black clothes either and if I do they get grey in one second being in my house 😂
@@borismansion How lucky! The shedding for my guy is especially bad in Fall and Spring when the seasons are changing and he gets brushed a lot. Who knows? LOL Just thank goodness for the Roomba!
Anyone that doesn’t like a dog don’t trust them.
Josh Reed I disagree I used to be terrified of dogs as I got older I began to love them and am now a dog addict
FLO Techno , so that means you can be trusted now😁
Josh Reed haha now
Searching for a female Cavalier anyone have ideas about a breeder or a shelter that has this breed for adoption or purchase. I'm willing to travel. Live in Florida.
PEARL BLASSER no sry
Our daughter was also afraid of dogs ... no idea why. After purchasing our Cav this is completely over. Our whole family loves our Ella so much. She means the world for us. I understand you completely. A Cavelier mom xxx
We love you!
Please try and promote rescuing as much as possible. There’s cavs out there that need homes and love. So important.
True. But I saw a litter in rescue one year and rescue fee was $1500 per pup. Holy cheese!
FMarieT1 ikr
haha, I'm glad to know someone loves their Cavaliers as much as me!
Maybe we’re getting one and I’m so excited🎉❤
@@finaarmania1173 , my sympathy.
Don't know - your comment made me cry.
Both my Cavaliers are rescues. Just lost Rosie this past Saturday. My heart is broken. She was the best. So much love in such a little package.
My paw-rents watched this, just before getting me :D
Do they get along with Chihuahuas? And which gender do you prefer for a cav'.: male or female?
I know how you feel about Herky and Milton...I feel the same about my Katie Rose. They are so dependent on us for "everything".
Everything you said is so true! The Cav hair is everwhere!! They can look at you with their big beautiful brown eyes and I just melt. Their look is so full of love for us.
Love you, Jodi & Kate
Jodi Watt we love you Jodi and Katie Rose ❤️
How long did it take to potty train your cavalier to where they didn't have accidents in the house anymore?
Love it!
As a future CKCS Dad, I can tell you you’ve made me so excited to get my girl or boy. Your enthusiasm for these dogs is infectious.
My sweet Cavalier is 4 months old. He has added so much joy to my life. I really enjoy your channel and am learning a lot! Thanks so much for sharing.
kelbrew1 thank you for watching ❤️
My cavalier was just diagnosed with psychomotor seizures. He is a 4 year old tri-color. They have put him on medication for it and it seems to be decreasing the frequency. He is my 3rd cavalier, the first passed away from age and heart issues, my 2nd was killed by my neighbors dog. I'm so scared of losing my boy. He is such a blessing every day. He always puts a smile on my face no matter how difficult the day was. I did not realize seizures were an issue for them. The love they give is so incredible.
when I think of cavaliers, I think of Charlotte's dog from Sex and the City lol
Me too🤣🤣
I just came across your channel, I’ve been a Cav owner for 13 years my girl Sophie has been such a joy.
Lina Wilder This world needs more people like you. Many blessings.
How long did it take to potty train your cavalier to where they didn't have accidents in the house anymore?

Love it... :)
Aloha e~
My Sophie, the sweetness of my life, has been in heaven for 3 years now and my heart has never mended. Cavies are so very sweet and so very devoted; Soph was there when two of my sons were deployed and she kept all of my secrets. Oh, how I miss my sweet little girl!
This is the power of unconditional love. It is embodied in the dog. How lucky we are to have this in our lives as a living example. Enjoyed the video.
Beautiful doggos 😍
Also, as someone who used to have a phobia of dogs, don't take it personally if someone is afraid of your girls.
I feel the same way..I'm 62 and I've never had a dog like this. Soo much love , he is like my child
I wish I knew how much it hurts when they die, my cavalier died last year due to mitral valve and I am still broken miss him SO MUCH!
We lost our dog last week, she had bladder cancer, was only 8 years old!! She was put to sleep......such a sweet Poppy ❣️
Awww so sorry so many dogs dying
I understand exactly how you feel.... Dogs are wonderful... especially Cavaliers!
Jan Waller yes yes yes !
See i think shedding isnt an all Cav thing. My Cav hardly sheds mind you i brush her often still i dont find much hair after brushing in the brush.
yes my cav sophie isn't to bad I just get out the mop and the hair gets mopped up and I put that in the bin also I try to keep her fur short only in the summer besides that I have had cav's for years now but never had a problem with them. only to do with their heart murmur's
Agree, I used to have two Cav beauties and their shedding was minimal really.
We speak the same language!!! ;)
I want a cavalier in the future! How do u make sure he is healthy? Ik they have health issues:(
we have a big backyard that can get muddy and my cav likes to run out and chase birds. I've found keeping his fur short will definitely help with all the shedding and helps to keep him clean. This is the only way i've found that i can tolerate the shedding.
the only thing i like to keep longer are his ears and tail. i think the look is cuter too. no long toe fur here!
I have an important question:
I'm getting my Cavvie puppy on the 3rd!!!
Kelly Ehrich just wait until they have all their adult teeth to venture into the world of bully sticks!
Kelly Ehrich mine LOVE bully sticks! I am just very careful to be sure I get one’s processed in the USA
Thanks for a great video. We met our cav puppy today and we are picking him up in two weeks time.Thank you.All the best.
Great video Mai!
You touched on all the topics one needs to know about this extraordinary breed. They live to love and fill your heart so the shedding and grooming become a routine of care because you want them with you forever.
Pookey Puppy ❤️❤️❤️
You must be so excited! Hopefully they will be born soon!
Juli 🌷
P.S. i think we should start selling pullovers made out of cav-hair. We‘d never run out of stock 😂
I'm so glad that you share what I feel :)
😂😂😂I love that idea
My husband is a UPS driver. He says the only dogs he's not afraid of walking up to are huskies (they get a bad wrap) and cavaliers. He's been bit by more small dogs than any other size. Not everyone knows that cav's are big babies though. We have a husky and a cavalier though so his opinion may be slightly skewed lol.
Hahah good to know!
