Is the Refreshed 2024 Acura #TLXtypes now a no-brainer pick over the hatchback little brother Integra in the lineup? Let's check out all the improvements in this night time review.
Every TLX receives enhanced styling with an updated frameless front grille and new wheel designs, and new standard technology includes a configurable 12.3-inch Acura Precision Cockpit Digital Instrument Cluster, a larger 12.3-inch center screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa Built-In.
TLX Type S receives standard premium technology including a Surround View Camera and 10.5-inch Head-Up Display.
Your TLX is finished in the new Urban Gray Pearl exterior color, which complements the aggressive styling on both TLX A-Spec and TLX Type S.
Already the quickest, best-handling all-wheel drive sedan in Acura’s 35-year history, TLX Type S delivers an even more exhilarating driving experience thanks to a retuned Sport+ mode with improved throttle response.
TLX’s sport sedan chassis and powertrains-namely, its exclusive platform with front double-wishbone suspension and electro-servo brake system, turbocharged engines, 10-speed automatic transmission, and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (A-Spec, Type S)-carry over into the 2024 model year.
Raising the bar for sport sedans with enhanced styling, improved in-car technology and a quieter cabin, the refreshed 2024 Acura TLX begins arriving at Acura dealerships today with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $45,0001. Now delivering more standard features, the simplified lineup includes the TLX with Technology Package, available A-Spec sport appearance package and line-topping high-performance TLX Type S.

All 2024 TLX models feature a new, more sophisticated front fascia with a frameless version of Acura's Diamond Pentagon Grille first seen on the Acura Type S Concept. Two exciting new paint colors are available: Urban Gray Pearl, which is available on TLX A-Spec and TLX Type S, and Liquid Carbon Metallic-which first debuted on the MDX-is available on TLX with Technology Package.
Inside, more advanced technology enhances TLX's cabin experience, with a new configurable 12.3-inch Acura Precision Cockpit ™ Digital Instrument Cluster and 12.3-inch center screen-20% larger than before-powered by a faster processor. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, a wireless charging pad, and TLX's first application of Amazon Alexa Built-In are all standard. Two USB-C charging ports also have been added to the rear of the center console for back-seat passengers. All TLXs apply thicker carpet for a quieter cabin.
The TLX with Technology Package (two-wheel drive only) is the new entry point into the TLX lineup and equips every TLX with premium styling and innovative technology features, including 19-inch wheels, Milano Leather seating, ELS STUDIO Premium Audio, and Iconic Drive™ ambient LED cabin lighting.
In addition to its blacked-out exterior treatment and A-Spec badges, TLX A-Spec delivers an even sportier appearance with new split-spoke 19-inch wheels finished in Shark Gray, large dual round exhaust finishers, and new gloss black rear spoiler. Standard torque vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ pairs enhanced performance with TLX A-Spec's sportier appearance. For added refinement, TLX A-Spec also receives new front fender liners, wheel insulators, B-pillar insulators, and door insulators all reducing road noise for a quieter cabin.
The TLX Type S, already the quickest, best-handling all-wheel-drive sedan in the brand's 35-year history, delivers an even more exhilarating drive with improved throttle response in the Sport+ drive mode and additional tech features, including a 10.5-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) and Surround View Camera. TLX Type S retains its already aggressive styling while adding a new diamond pentagon grille mesh-which provides airflow to its exclusive Type S Turbo V6-and new 20-inch split-spoke wheel finished in Berlina Black.
Type S is further differentiated with an exclusive front splitter, rear decklid spoiler, rear diffuser, large quad exhaust outlets and red Brembo® 4-piston front brake calipers. High-performance summer tires mounted to lightweight Copper-finish Y-spoke 20-inch wheels first seen on the TLX Type S PMC Edition are available as dealer-installed accessories.

Thank you so much for doing a night drive! Love these so much!
Congrats on your new addition to the family!
I love the way looks. If only it had a traditional handle shifter instead of the button shifters.
Also, congrats on the new little guy Kirk!!!
Yea those cost cutting buttons have to go, hated it in the nsx as well Porsche mini knub shifter, they need to get rid of the knob shifter as well they just scream cost cutting.
A traditional gear level hand rest of metal and stitched leather is preferred and more premium by design.
Yayyyy! Congrats on Baby Abe's TH-cam debut! Hope you, Cas and fam are all doing well!
I traded my 23 TLX Type S in on an Integra Type S. The horrible fuel economy, 14.1 mpg average, and the bad rear seat leg room were not ideal for my family and I. A rear facing car seat barely fit in the TLX. Aside from that I did not get along well with the 10 speed auto. Never seemed like it could make its mind up. I much prefer the Integra because of the 6speed and the extra rear seat room. A car seat actually fits without having the front passenger seat the full way forward. I get much better mpg at 23.7 average. I don’t live in a city so having a manual makes for a much more engaging experience and I don’t have to deal with traffic. The biggest complaint I have with the ITS is the passenger seat isn’t powered.
Performance wise the TLX has a faster 0-60, not by much however. From a roll the lightness of the Integra definitely makes a difference. My buddy has a 23 G70 and he would gap the TLX but with the ITS I hang in there way better and do not get gapped by a mile. For winter driving I got a second set of wheels for cheap and winter tires, handles the weather in western Pennsylvania without issue.
Lastly is that I was looking for a Type R but I couldn’t find one for under 55K with dealer mark up. I was able to get my Integra at MSRP so it was a better deal.
Either way you can’t go wrong. The TLX you have is a wonderful car and fits your lifestyle better and I’m happy you are loving it. It is a great car. The internet loves hating on Acura
Edit: One other thing that I remembered that drove me crazy in the TLX was the brakes were very strange at low speed. Coming to stop when the transmission would disengage and go into neutral the brakes would seem to release braking pressure then apply again causing a jerk. Not sure if it was a 23 TLX issue or just my specific one.
Nice, helpful comment!
Congrats on the addition of Kirk! Love the TLX-S!!
I have a soft spot for this car - Last summer, I was looking at TLX Type S, the BMW 340i, and the Lexus IS500. I ended up going with the IS500 simply because of the NA V8. The TLX came in second as it had all the modern amenities, good looks, and reliability that I was looking for. I did wish the performance was just a tad bit better but it was still "quick enough". This refresh makes an all-around great car even better.
M340i in 3rd out of these?
@@Troy-fv9uqthat’s probably true for a lot of people who have these 3 cars as options
How are you liking the IS so far? I'm all over the place. This TLX, the IS500 and the CT4V blackwing in manual. I love the V8 in the is and the manual in the CT4. We have the MDX and I like it a lot and the TLX would be a lot cheaper than the IS or BW Caddy. Ive had 20+ BMW's and the new ones just don't do it for me.
Same I have a soft spot for this car as well. The thing that turned me off is the rear is too cramp and wish it was more practical. Especially with being a dad in the future I opted for the Stinger still get your performance but the rear is bigger and lift back makes life so much easier.
@Sleepyboiwonder I own a 23 type-s. I liked the G70 more than the M340i.
if this thing was a LIFTBACK! it would be the PERFECT S5 competitor! imagine! ACURA make more practical sedans that would be epic!
They should make the rlx like the s7. I’ve been saying that for years now.
Audi s7 comes with 444hp and this 380? How is a competitor?
@@ju4121easy fix with hybrid power
I want a lift back, liftbacks are cool, moms are definitely embarrassed opening up the entire back of a sedan. They don’t sell my guy 😂
No way. Much more refined with a traditional trunk.
To me, the SHAWD on the TLX is a no-brainer. It improves cornering in wet weather or dry by helping to rotate the car around corners. This more than makes up for the added weight. Also the adaptive dampers are amazing. In Normal or Comfort mode, it is just as smooth as my large heavy SUV on rough roads. But in Sport mode, no body roll. Nice....
Love the night drive videos..congratulations with your new son 👍
Subtle refresh but it's starting from a great place and it's still so good.
Probably a good thing I had been searching back in the peak of ADM and Acura hasn't ditched the track pad (Mazdas rotory is better, I'll fight about it): I would have been more than willing to stretch* for the type S over the Mazda3 turbo otherwise, and I'd never have been able to get my MX-5. But there's just something special about hopped up executive sedans/more subtle sports sedans that are largely missing from the roads today.
*"Stretch" is defined as double my budget and only eat bricks of bulk nissin ramen for 3 years😅
Congrats on the newborn!🎉
At this point, I would definitely take this over the Intergra Type S. It's their best car in years.
Worst part about watching an Acura review is that they're not available here in the UK and that sucks. Constant reminder that I won't get to own one, even though that would be awesome as they look amazing. Oh and btw, congratulations on your new born son! Good name choice :)
I often wonder what people on other continents think about the TLX or really any current acuras that others cant get.
I think Acura is not even available outside of North America south of Panama. The only other international market I can think of that has Acura is Kuwait, interestingly.
I was looking at the Lexus IS 500 F Sport PP. But, the tech, the features and the AWD are pulling me towards the TLX Type S. Thanks for the video! And, congratulations on your new arrival!!
Congrats on your new baby Kirk!
12:01 Japanese man... God love em. I think what makes them fantastic also keeps them from being that much better. They smooth out to much not allowing for any character. Id say of all the nations Japan makes the most electricness internal combustion engines. They are smooth and free of any vibration. That goes for motos as well. It keeps me from the brands in general they all run inline 4 which are ... smoother, free of vibration compared to Italian V4's which are more compact, but have character, they are a bit gruff. EVERYthing they do is perfection to a default. Sometimes you want unperfection. I mean you want smooth and silky the Honda CBR RR-R has a race inspired inline 4 which feels like an electric internal combustion engine. If you could mix the two that's what it feels like. Just a effortless silky smooth dynamo. But i love hopping on the Ducati and feeling the difference and i prefer it ever so slightly over the more perfect engine.
Kirk you should report on the recent problems in the midwest, more specifically Illinois on all the Teslas left stranded at the local superchargers with long lines of Teslas waiting for superchargers that don’t even work. Dozens of owners left their cars abandoned because they couldn’t charge. It hit many news channels a thousand miles away! I can get you lots of info and get you with owners for pictures or videos if need be.
Expanding the content!
I'm glad they finally put in a digital dash but it looks graphically too similar to the honda pilot's I wish they differentiated it more like how Audi does with VW
I was hoping they improved the analogue and kept them and instead put a touchscreen on the infotainment.8ys unfortunate all the analogue which cost more and last longer are being replaced by limited life LCD screenem
Congrats on mini Kirk!
I went Integra Type S because most of my driving is on long straights with next to no traffic and the odd bends so I can enjoy rowing through the gears. I do really like the looks of the TLX Type S but if it were my money I'd probably spend a bit extra and go for the BMW M340i in this class, just can't beat the rear biased AWD and B58.
Great Video!
Thank you! I agree with the BMW statement. Gratz on the ITS!
Until 5 years and warranty expires, then you will wish you had the TLX over BMW.
@@MrNodeeeI chose the type-s. I paid 16k less up front and probably another 10 in repairs over 6 years, plus the BMW will be scrap at 150,000 miles, while the Acura will fetch me 20,000
More night videos would be sweet. Shoutouts to S. Florida
Great looking but needs to be lighter and more HP to compete.
I wanna see some snow action with this!
Beautiful 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome car and the upgrades for 2024 are nice. However, I think I like the old gauge setup more than the all digital one.
I have 22 ILX Aspec and can't wait for upgrade to TLX Type S! Still have 20k to go ugh😢
What is that gizmo we see on your main infotainment screen that you're using as your stopwatch/timer? Is that a built-in feature?
Very very nice car wow, pure class, best of the best.
Do the lights do anything fancy like dynamic stuff or moving on turns?
Did you try putting any car seats back there? How was the fit? Thanks!
I like this car better than the Integra because the front end looks nicely designed. 👍😍
Changing the sceen to a touchscreen and adding a manual transmission would be amazing on this. Dont care about the 0-60 or weight just as a enthusiast gt car would be great.
Touchscreens just get a lot of fingerprints
I think the TLX is a fine car when you realize what it is trying to be and not to be, it’s not an M3 or C63 competitor, it’s more of a base S5, M340i, C43, IS500 etc competitior. One mistake I see people make is saying that SHAWD basically turns the TLX into a RWD-ish car which is not true. The SHAWD system is fantastic but can only send that 70% to the rear in very specific occasions which most people will never reach so primarily it defaults to being a FWD based AWD system that can torque vector in the rear to help you out of corners. One thing that irks my about the TLX tho is how the rear door handles are every so slightly higher than the front😂, but you can only see that if you’re looking at the car straight on the
This is more of a 330i competitor who are we kidding
Best looking car in its class.
Bring back the lifelong lasting analouge gauges let a middle display touch screen do the digital stuff.
I like this car but can't ignore it's 4,200lb weight. Also the sideway mounted V6.
Not to mention giving it a 10 foot hood instead of interior leg room. Complete brain fart on that
Yeah, that too. @@Striker50_
I tried smashing the gas around a corner on a rainy day like he said, and I ended up going sideways. Had to counter steer to correct it. So don't think the shawd is going to save ya if you're taking fast turns, cause the rear end will shoot out 😂
I didn't completely gun it mid turn. That's asking for trouble
@@KirkKreifels lol
Especially if you are that dumb.
The only current Acura that you can do that with is the RDX SH AWD. I feel like the gearing and hp/ tq in the RDX is the best for full throttle turns in sport mode.
In my TLX type s with summer tires, the rear slides out, but snaps back in line if the throttle is held, scared me at first coming from an RDX.
When I swapped the summers to ultra high performance all season, the full throttle turns in the TLX is more like my 22 RDX.
One thing to note the transmission gearing is different in the RDX vs TLX. Si that could be it.
Needs a 3 pedal option
Exactly. As long as the integra comes in a manual, it'll always be better IMO.
The Acura press release said they made some changes to improve NVH, is any of that discernable here in comparison to the previous years drives?
I enjoyed the quiet ride and drive. Seemed improved
They said they didn’t quiet down the Type S trim to allow more exhaust sound in, only the aspec and tech models get more insulation.
Need for speed underground 2 those were the glory days. Nice car good styling for sure
“Welcome him to the fleet“ lol that is no joke. I got 2 kids
Florida man reviews luxury performance sedan
Kurt, did you also put the transmission in Sports mode? You have to his the "D/S" button again.
It's sequential mode and for 0-60 I used it
love me some flower action
It needs a manual to be near perfect. Honda/Acura has that on the shelf... FOOLS!
Acura, why did you discontinue the red TLX Type-S? That's the best looking color! And why there are two grey colors...
The tlx type s needs a body kit
Awesome
Acura needs a Sport Hybrid AWD version on, well, actually all of their models.
i like the tlx better than the integra , due to two reason double wishbone suspension and wider body with a v6 ...rear space is compromised
rear space is so bad for this being a boat
You’re picking this or the 2024 genesis G80/G70 ?
❤ it. The Lexus ES350 is sweet too, but I could not handle the analogue clock. It looks a giant wart, it belongs in a Rolls.
Gorgeous car.
If the refresh came with a touch screen vs the touch pad I think the TLX would be a better choice for a daily driver.
Hey kirk im know im super late not the video but my response does the urban grey come in orchid interior?
Do the Tlx type S use timing belt or chain?
So a HUD is standard on the Type S for 2024, no option for pre-refresh?
I don't mind the 2021-2023's but the no HUD apparently is somewhat of a nitpick for me.
The ambient lighting placement needs to be better to me!
Welcome to the fleet Abe
🍼Welcome Baby Abram..🍼 Kirk, congratulations. Have you heard about Changan? I've seen a few here in Houston, and thought it was from Acura..emblem
Thanks!
Not yet on changan
Does it have the jseries engine?
Anything with a type s badge I want
No Tire and wheel
Package with refresh . 4X cost opting for dealer accessory’s for copper Y Spoke . No heated steering wheel .
Looks nice and awd system is great but needs more hp. I'll stick with my Genesis G70 that smokes it.
8:20 LOL ive never driven the Integra but i had an ILX Aspec before it switched over to the new name and platform. I have to say that car pissed me off so much. I was always angry in the sense that the car goaded me to be bad and then left me wanting for quite a bit more. I equate that to the cars ability to handle more speed and power than it has to give. You wanna ring its neck and slap it! Then it laughs at you for not giving you the power you needed to thread the needle. 🤬 Infuriating!
The ILX also had super loud road noise going highway speeds
No back seat ambient lighting 😢
Captain Kirk in Enterprise spaceship😅😅😅
Nice 0-60 time is just the same as my stock accord touring FWD not bad, tlx looks like an inline 6 but perform like a 4 cylinder turbo.
LMAO!! Your stock Accord is not running a 5 second 0-60
@@Striker50_ 5.8 bud, brake torque and launch on some Michelin ps4 I must be lying.
@@jaiuchiha6191 4.6 and 5.8 are 2 different things
@@Striker50_car and driver got 4.6. Look it up
It just needs to be a lift back, the problem with the integra type S and a spec is there are way to many cheap civic parts, I can’t decide between the TLX and INT due to this issue, but if the TLX was lift back everyone would pick it over 330, a5 etc
what color is your type s?
Does the puddle lights work on this one?
There are greeting lights on the side mirrors, not puddle lamps on this model
Make it available in a manual and I’d say it competes with the Integra but that’s just my preference.
The info system has to be updated! The touchpad and split screen are horrible for Android auto/carplay.
I liked Lexus track pad far better than Acura which to me SUCKS. I cant wait to see the new M5 I know that was random. 😆
Underwhelming power train and infotainment controls. Its a shame because this is such a nice looking car
Why didn't you rev it up to let us hear that active exhaust?🙄
Imagine in Pearl white paint
I can confirm it still isn't better than the ITS. But it's still a heck of a car.
It's still hurts my heart that they never made this into a manual
…how you can compare real sport car with manual transmission, with castrated sport car, i.e. automatic transmission
My question would you take this over the Lexus ES 350 Ultra Luxury ?
Can't be better than Integra because it's automatic.
It would have been perfect and a mile better than the Integra if the power had increased by 20 to 25 ponies. At least to make it more competitive with a Merc C43 AMG, the BMW M340i and the Audi S4.
I hope Acura makes a RDX TYPE S
Needs +100 hp and a luxury interior.😂
It just needs more power… That’s all it needs.
Bro shout out to need for speed underground!
I need acura to send me one :)
Beautiful baby god bless your family. But Acura needs more power 😮
Yes I agree. 400hp would be great
The Integra is faster in every way other than off the line. Love both.
I'd imagine the TLX would be faster in a roll race as well?
@@anthonykiedis1765 no it weighs too much and does not have that much more power
@@t-lawsfitness6044I'm here to tell you that you couldn't be more wrong. The TLX Type S blows the doors off the Integra Type S, both off the line and in a roll race.
@@SH-AWDY i call capalocia
Check out the Edmunds u drag, TLX type s vs Integra type s. The TLX wins. The 2024 can actually pull a G on the skid pad in testing. The TLX would be fantastic if they could find a way to drop 200 lbs and retune the transmission a bit.
Have to go m340i for that price
Way better engine and transmission on the bimmer

@@Striker50_ right, I was referring to the latest refresh
@@KK-tt6uithat’s what I did. Had 3 BMWs before and didn’t wanna deal with reliability issues anymore, bought a TLX type S, with low miles for 43k$ 🤷🏻♂️
I know they are saving millions by using less leather but I wouldn't buy a car without full leather.
I wish this had a manual.
And the integra had the sunroof better seats and way better more luxury interior. And awd iption but with manual.
Then it would not be overpriced
Kirk, Did Acura allow Toyota's TNGA team to design that cramped interior?🤔😉🤣
Idk man the giddiness/excitement u showed with the “NFS Underground” Integra was not replicated here.
Keep it a buck that Teggy was more engaging/satisfying and if u disagree then that means u just don’t wanna drive stick 🤷🏾♂️. I drive my kid to school all the time in a Type S and it’s a dream. No one wants a 4200 lb family car that’s slower/less engaging than the automatic competition.
But what do I know 😊
Driving Empty* streets at night is way more fun in the teggy. Driving in everyday traffic is more fun in the TLX and that's 99 % of my driving. If I had good twisty roads in FL then Integra would've been my pick. 🥂

$3300 more just to add summer tires? You can get Michelin Sports 4s for $1100 for all four tires at Costco 💀
Love this car. But the infotainment crosses it off my list.
I don't understand why so many cars have awful UI. That is the part of the car that you have to interact with the most, and they just do such silly things that make it worse.
