With such a huge bed it would be nice to have segmented heat zones like the Prusa XL or Neptune 4 Pro. I think most people would not be printing 500mm models for every print and even when they do, it is usually only in one dimension and most of the bed where the print doesn’t touch shouldn’t need to be heated. It would save electricity and might allow the machine to go above 80C for smaller portions of the bed. A smaller segment of the bed may also heat up faster given the 600W PSU.

While there are other big size printers with Klipper in the market (like the Jennyprinter 650 or the Vcore 3.1 with 500by500) and of course you could upgrade most printers to Klipper yourself (like the Tronxy VEHO 600, 800, 1000, 5XA-500), these printers are not only much more expensive, but also kit's for more experienced users. Also, once assembled, cubic printers this size often do not fit through a door. While on the T500 this shouldn't be a problem at all.
Very nice you tested with a 0.8 mm nozzle. In my opinion this should be the standard size, if you want to use the buildvolume in aceptable printing time. As even with a volcano nozzle you only can do 50mm/s due to the flow, this shows bedslingers are still a valid solution for this size.
However, I wouldn't recommend such a printer for smal prints. So not for newbees, but goid as a second or third (or 27th) printer.
For the bed surface: As Tronxy sells big size printers too, they have big size PEI powder coated soring steel in their shop up to 600by600. While it was nearly impossible to even get a 500by500 about a year ago, now there are no problems to get them.
Of course, big PEI powder coated spring steels are not cheap (calculate about $100 for a 500by500), so I understand why Comgrow uses a cheaper solution. So if buying this printer, have the extra cost in mind.
But of course, with a printer this size the cost for the printer itself and acessories are peanuts - the amount of filament you use on such a big printer can cause a big hole in the pocket. Good you have a sponsor there ;-)

Really nice review as always with a good standard format you've adopted. The only issue I have is that you really only tested one large print that was tall, but not super wide. I guess it gets the main point across, but I wonder if there is another test with more complex geometry like a cosplay armor piece or something that would be relevant to viewers as well.

Congratulations to Anycubic on the Kobra 2 series which you have highlighted commendably..those machines are an absolute steal at the price point.
If you are introducing a new company it helps to have a unique product.
Comgrow isn't new. I think they're the hidden parent company of many big 3d printing brands, not sure tho.I see them on Amazon selling many printer brands.

In all seriousness, the Neptune 4 Plus and Max were released yesterday and I'm hopeful that the Neptune 4 Pro Plus and Max (with steel rails) won't be far behind. I've had very good long term reliability with acetyl V wheels on smaller 3D printers but I think a 400+ mm 3D printer will probably have forces that would benefit from steel motion control parts, particularly Klipper machines designed to print faster with higher acceleration.

@@whizzardno1- The Neptune 4 Max and Neptune 4 Plus were introduced on 23SEP23. Both have acetyl V rollers like the smaller Neptune 4. I'm hoping the Neptune 4 Pro versions of the Max and Plus with steel rollers on steel rails will be introduced soon. Take my money, Elegoo!

500mm cubed at high speed bed-slinger seems scary if taking adhesion worries into account, making HUGE prints risk failure later in prints and wasting a LOT of filament.
But it's still a really nice and cool printer. Seems like a lot for the money.
Speaking of which, another printer that seems to offer a lot for the money is the new Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro and non-pro version, I'm eagerly awaiting the first reviews on youtube of it.

Side note: Not really sure why Comgrow decided to cheap out and go with an old school pei sticker sheet print bed, it's always this or glass. Been using a prusa, uses a pei spring steel print bed and will never go back.

I opened this to see if a much cheaper alternative to RatRig V-Core 3 500 I use. This review did answer my questions on where the cost down measures were done to get a fully assembled machine to this price (compared to roughly twice the price for a V-Core kit). For someone who needs this print volume but does not mind those particular compromises it could be good. For me it would not work, just now I am doing a series of large ASA prints with the bed at 105°C and even if the T500 could reach the temperature being a bed slinger would make the ASA warp and peel off. But for someone who prints PLA moulds for big carbon fiber RC plane parts for example the T500 would work.

Regarding the estimated vs observed print time differences, I wonder if Klipper was set up with lower acceleration settings, so Cura's estimations were based on wrong acceleration figures?

1. Cant connect through wifi
2. Bed is starting to bubble after 6 prints
3. Touchpad randomly reboots
so far its a bad start after 5 days
Would have been nice if you had addressed the foot print needed to run the machine with full use of the bed. Given is 820mm x 820mm foot print, how much more space is needed in the front and back to allow the bed to move?

I'd like to see more resume print test and heating up printer for few days. My t500 died after first days of printing (mosfet), resume didn't work. Build surface bubbled. Manufacturer claimed it was upgraded. Printer will be returned. Sorry nice looking machine with lot of issues.

I know there are time constraints but this isn't a do it all printer, this is most definitely someone's alternate printer specifically for massive prints. Really should have been testing flowrate, big nozzles and cosplay items, helmets, large figurines and a 1/2 meter benchy etc. Things for a massive printer to do. (we are talking multi day prints though) The weedy 600 watt psu is cause for alarm, my anycubic chiron which is "only" 450 cubed has a 1000w psu and just for the bed! This probably should have a mains bed.
I wonder if the lamp shade would have come out better if you adjusted the temperature? I'm sure it would have affected the clarity as well though (not sure if for better or worse) Also curious if you tried a different brand. I've had cooling layers especially in the first layers with almost all brands of black and worse results with PLA pro black compared to normal black PLAs. Curious how the new kobra 2 max ,neptune 4max and the T500 will all compare with lower speed large prints. The T500 seems very well built and could almost care less about Klipper at this size but just as with snapmaker solid build quality does not mean a good printer. I have to say compared to a larger unnamed YTer who seemed like a clueless buffoon who did zero research and barely got the machine up and running during a 4 hour video (more concerned with eating chickie Nuggies) this review was a great presentation on the T500. Although hard to cover everything in a single video it was another great review. Thank you for doing the hard work others should aspire to do.

Can you suggest to Comgrow to put an auxiliary fan stack on the X-axis like seen on the Elegoo Neptune 4 pro series of printers? This would ideally help with the cooling issue
There’s is an add on like that from creality. I’m considering to mount that on my T500 instead my S1.

@@mpark0 I don’t know yet. It’s just a unit with 3 fans. If the wiring is strong enough i might just connect it with the part cooler. It has a dial for the speed on it. The instructions say to connect it with the mainboards power connector in parallel. No software integration and a fire hazard imho.
This should have come with a curtain fan to enable adequate cooling for fast prints, no doubt a mod will get made by the community.
Since so many of the new printers you are testing are Klipper, and since the retraction test is a pretty big part of your review, have you considered testing all Klipper printers with firmware retraction for a level field?

Been thinking about doing a rat rig, but I think I like this better. the price for the value is appealing. the bed temp problem would need to be address though.
I do worry about long, heavy prints overwhelming the y stepper or changing the shaper parameters
They should have used a AC bed. For anything above 250mm bed size/240w bed power you need a mosfet anyway so you could just exchange the mosfet for a ssr and the dc heater for an ac heater. No price difference in the heaters, the mosfet is slightly cheaper than a ssr, but you can get away with a cheaper, lowerr powered psu, a lrs 200 for example would be sufficient and would also be fanless, so the printer would be dead silent when idling. Also thinner cables in a drag chain are less prone to breaking. The efficiency would also be better, no losses on the ac bed and a psu has most of the time 85% efficiency, so you would even safe on electricity as well as having faster heating times and could actually reach over 100 degrees. Not that this printer is a good idea to enclose, in fact the idea is horrible due to its size, but you could still do smaller abs or asa prints

Yes, the A1 is scheduled for October
It maybe needs a proper pei bed and definitely needs some kind of aux cooling, and maybe a higher flow hotend with a 0.8 cht nozzle. (it would be even better if those upgrades could be bought directly from them) With these upgrades the printer would cost something like 1k usd - which is still a good price in my opinion.
Do you use these printers after the initial review? Many users in FB group complaining of issues. Mine arrived with defective motherboard, bed would not heat. Congrow advising users to perform technical fixes to resolve issues such as removing a shunt resistor or replacing mosfet. Please address these issues at the risk of appearing to leave them out of your videos in favor of the manufacturers.

Hello, I'm looking for a large format printer to print my prototypes for automotive parts in ASA and PETG. I am planning on buying 4 of these because of the robust build. Can you do a follow up review on this? This seems to be the best for size and robust build. Thank you.
Since you will be printing ASA, an open-frame bed slinger with a heated bed only up to 80°C may not be the best option. You need a 100C+ bed and a stable ambient temperature when printing ASA, or you will have warping and layer cracking issues. A fully enclosed printer may be a better option, also check out the QiDi X-MAX-3 or other fully enclosed printer from my website auroratechchannel.com
@@AuroraTech Thanks but they are too small. I built a heated enclosure for the T500, we'll see how it goes. I wish printer manufacturers who made these large printers realize that this is for engineering not for costumes. Build these machines for engineers who aren't rich.
I've received T500 - still bubbles on the bed and nozzle leaking - after applying 2Nm@260C is ok. Hotend sock degraded and not usable. I'm using a hotend without sock by increasing hysteresis in the printer.cfg I told them to try 3M 468MP glue. I like PC foil on bed more than PEI because in N3max adjeshion is poor and warping easily kills the prints. Dear Aurora, please make a tutorial on how to add a usb webcam and stream online without using another computer just Rpi. And how to cancel print remotely too.
