    I just spent two days watching the whole playlist...
    First day was me saying: "Damn it no wonder I keep complaining about mine not looking like those on the internet!"
    Second day I just stared at the screen, smiling in amazement. Damn it I love this hobby!

    These video tutorials were extremely helpful. There are a lot of other tutorial videos that get closer and more detailed with some of the aspects, but putting in a format from start to finish on how you would go about each step puts everything to a much better perspective. Thanks for the help!

    I've been building models for over 30 years and I have several models that I used acrylic paint and in all my experience water does not dissolve acrylic paint after it has cured. Now you do not want to use rubbing alcohol on it that can take paint off. I may not be professional but it is my experience.

    I have been scouring TH-cam for all the tips and tutorials I can find! Thank you for this series sir. I could tell by the end of it that it took a large amount of time and effort. I will be doing my first HG next month HG Atlas and hopefully kitbashing and customizing parts way down the road.

    Good shit! Making my first kit that has only water decals. I've managed to avoid them until now. Got one sent to me from a viewer and it only has water slides so thank you for your video. I didn't realize it was so easy!

    Thanks for the tutorial.
    I'm scared to use these waterslide decals because I might mess up the face my build (Diver Ayame).
    After watching this. I never thought that it was easy and you can adjust the decal while it's still wet.

    I been wanting to get into Gunpla for a while but money was a issue, but after watching all eleven videos you have convinced me to start building. Ordered three kits going to take my time with the first two and be basic, then with the last one going to do customizations. Thank you for inspiring me.

    I have to say the finished model looks fantastic. I had my doubts on the colors you opted for this kit but low and behold, you pulled it off! Great job! Kudos on using some of your followers' suggestions on decal placement! As I was reading some of the comments below, a "Season 2" would be a great idea especially with your video quality and overall presentation. Just ask Justinius for his "blessing" as far as this idea is concerned, just give it your own personal touch to it. It wouldn't hurt!

After that I'm going to fix the wrists because they are week and won't hold the rifle well. Then it's just a final flat top coat and done. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine!

I understand we share the same colors scheme but I thought it would be pretty cool in how they would have an Island/Hispanic themed RX-78-2. The best way ive found to use decals on acrylic paint is to make sure you have put a sealer on the spot where you are going to put the decal. If you have already put a top coat on the model you shouldnt have to worry about messing up your paint.

    Almost looks like a prototype Doga. Almost like the test bed for the Newtype use ones. Would be neat to take off some of the head gear and other things of that nature and make it look more basic. It really has the color scheme of something made for testing. The weathering even gives that appearance as well, like it's been bashed around and tested for stability and such.

  • @tyang10

    I do my decals like that too. Had some close calls with the tweezers though. It's also important to rub out the air bubbles after applying them if there are any. Kinda difficult to do too since the decal can slide around while doing this.

  • @jiminboo
    @jiminboo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video :) I was cringing when I saw you holding the decal lol... The biggest risk isn't a tear, decals like to wrap around themselves when they are by themselves without the paper backing. Once that happens, you are in trouble trying to unravel it and that's when your decal rips :D

  • @danielhan7492
    @danielhan7492 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My decals don’t stick on the surface after positioning them, there was some of that green paper stuck to the back which I rubbed out. Then I soaked it again in water before applying, removed excess water, left it to dry, but it doesn’t set. I don’t have mark setter or softener, or even some clear coating spray, how should I fix this?

  • @GeNGiM
    @GeNGiM 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    My experience is that the Mr Mark Setter usually has the worst reaction. I am not quite sure what causes it but my most recent experience (if you've seen my GP02 MLRS in one of the FB groups) the mark setter dries up into a white transparent film if it dries on an acrylic clear coat (if dries while not in contact with a water-slide decal). It happened multiple times when I applied it on parts that a decal did not cover (the painted parts are protected by an acrylic clear with Pledge Klear). It also happened on parts covered with a lacquer clear coat. The good thing is that it can be corrected thru the use of Mr Mark Softer :)

    I heard this from many forums saying that you should spray gloss top coat before applying any decals on the model to prevent it from silvering. However, if I didn't, would the silvering effects occur?
    It's my first time using water slide decals and I don't want to ruin my master grade gunpla.

    • @ZakuAurelius
      @ZakuAurelius  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silvering can occur for many different reasons. Gloss coat before decals does help and if you can then you're best off doing so! I am kinda lazy though and just don't sometimes. I'm also so scared of fogging with topcoat!

    I do have a question, though--how does one ship a finished Gunpla safely overseas? I return home at the end of September and have a couple built, so I wanna make sure they make it home safe so I can start really "finishing" them.

    Normally when I go to apply decals to parts, I hold them with something like my helping hands alligator clip set. It's a bit of a chore but it's better than nothing I guess

    I'm new to this so I'm not really in the know. but wouldn't the the chemicals in Mark Softer damage the paint job?

      Mshake008 For lacquer or enamel paint I know there's no problem. I'm not sure about acrylic though.

    Hey Zak, I've read in some of the Gunpla Forums and Reddit posts that Diluted Vinegar can also work as a substitute for the Mr. Mark stuff. I wanted to know if you have heard or that or tried it and can confirm or not?

      I haven't heard that, so I don't know.

    Question, is the water decal hold last for years? or will it detach on long time if not coated after putting them?

    • @ZakuAurelius
      @ZakuAurelius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should stay on! Mark Setter helps and also topcoating over your decals
