- I decide to let my friend Randon Ride Tesa for exchange to ride his Nighthawk 650! I cant even figure out how to start it uP! Also Keep calling it a 700? 750? V4.. its an INLINE 4 haha

you called the 650 a 700 V-4 when you said it sounds great. The sound comment is correct. The inline 4 sounds great.
the Nighthawk 700 S is one of Hondas best ever.
I love my 1985 Nighthawk 650, it's blue but I really like the Red. Just got mine going again after two years. Nothing major but going again and sounds good
I bought one brand new in 1980 for 1985 for $3,800 and mine was candy wineberry red in color I bought a large Cooper plexi-windshield for it and a stereo system quick release mount for my tape deck. I bought it primarily because it could keep up with the 750s, was mre comfortable and looked better and even had a better quarter mile time. It nailed the low 12s at 12.3 quarter mile time on average for a shaft drive bike with hydraulic valve adjusters and hydraulic clutch. It basically just took care of itself. I wish I never got rid of it. it was good for a hundred twenty-five miles per hour all day long with the shield on.
I just discovered this road today, great long sweeping turns to feel out the bike.
It the same bike I bought new in 1983, it's CB650SC Nighthawk, it was the fastest 650 on the road at the time

I love this 4 inline smooth engine - the secondary shaft drive without a chain - the not heavy weight.
the hydraulic clutch lever.
Enough engine power for me, in every situation and road. Even with luggage on longer tours.
The bad side: Too much plastic parts - cheap quality.
My bike was made in 1983. In that years, it was one of the most modern motorcycle.
These nighthawks 83' on are getting very expensive because they are so reliable. People are collecting them. in Utah they are getting $3-4k now.
Did you ever get above 3rd gear?...Wow...I at least hope you are better versed on your BMW.

i got a 86 magna i bought on CL for like a grand and fixed a couple things. cant beat. fast, i had a couple Sportsters, few Ninjas, but got kids and I love 70s- 80s Hondas. Best bikes ever. You can have. tessa., race bikes. aint cruise bikes and why you calling it a 750 or 700 and trying to start with the key off. you funny.

+Travis Livengood The Nighthawk 650? No way. They made 65 horsepower. The 750s made around 75 hp.

Travis Livengood yeah but they still have some pep to them I had a Suzuki gsx600f my dad had a 1982 Suzuki GS650 and my older half brother had a 1999 Suzuki gsxr750 my brother let me ride his bike and it was on I had to have a sports bike a friend owed me some money and he knew I was looking for a sports bike and he didn't know when he would be able to come up with the money he owed me so we made a deal and he gave me the bike he had that is how I ended up with my Suzuki gsx600f and my brother and I went for a ride to Tennessee and I switched up with my dad and let him ride my bike and I rode his Suzuki GS650 and it surprised me for a older bike it would get down and run with my Suzuki gsx600f and my brothers Suzuki gsxr750 for a little bit after riding my bike my dads bike and my brothers bike I studied about Suzuki GS650 Suzuki gsx600f Suzuki gsxr750 and I found out Suzuki uses the same inline four cylinder motor in all three bikes only difference between the older bikes and the newer bikes is the older bikes have carbs the and weigh more the newer bikes are fuel injection and less weight and have a faster response on the lower end and a smoother take off Suzuki ain't the only company that still uses the same inline four cylinder motors Kawasaki uses the same inline four cylinder motors in the Kawasaki kz's and the zx's and Honda uses the same inline four cylinder motors in the CB's and cbr's just with fuel injection instead of carbs
lol my bike, it's a 650 and yes an inline 4, I have the 83 and it was the first year with dohc it was revolutionary, it has loads of torque but pretty much loses its punch at 80-85, but you can throw into corners, weighs like a 350(for an old bike)

Regarding your 1983 Nighthawk.
Honda went to the DOHC Double over head cam on all the750s in 1979. The CB750K , Custom and Super Sport.
The 1982 Nighthawk had DOHC.
sdanville I could've sworn that Honda used the single over head cam system from 1979 to 1982, 1983 was the year they just bored the 550 engine and put Dual cams, with non adjustable lash valves, that's why the bike currently is in my garage suffering from a terrible cam chain rattle :/
sdanville I think i do recall Honda putting dual cams on the 550 engine in 79....
sdanville nope I just asked my boss at my shop he said the 650s were made in 79-82 but had domed pistons, but in 82 they made the 750 which had dohc, so they decided to put the dohc on the 83s engine
You keep talking about your bike riding his bike will guess what I think you're afraid to try and keep up with him because you might embarrass your motorcycle because that little 650 will give that thing a run for its money and you know it
