    This is one of the few times I have seen a video that’s shown me something I hadn’t thought of in 10 years of playing this game. I switch to full real to deflect the elevator a bit more than normal during dogfights, but I’ve never thought to set trim all the way to keep from blacking out.

    Realistically, the F-16 is said to be able to maintain a turn without the input of the pilot due to the unstable nature of the flight model.

    • @Und3rpr3ssur3_Gaming
      @Und3rpr3ssur3_Gaming ปีที่แล้ว +97

      Please let me know if I'm mistaken. I'm just going off the top of my head right now as I somewhat recall reading or hearing about this exact thing. The F-16 was intentionally designed aerodynamically unstable to enhance the aircraft's flight performance in any maneuver. Consequently, the design caused the aircraft to pitch up a few degrees constantly. Anything below Mach 1 speeds and the aircraft would pitch up if not for counteracting elevator input. Anything nearing Mach 1 and beyond and the effect would grow less due to compressing air flow.

    • @Frozander
      @Frozander ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Sure but that's not how it works. Pilot needs to apply pressure to the stick. Without that pull the plane will not turn. What you describe is the fly-by-wire system that keeps the aircraft stable in flight, ensure G and AoA limits no matter what the pilot tries to input. Some aircraft let you disable or modify it for added manouverability (Su27 for example) but when done the aircraft bleeds massive amounts of energy and is extra sensitive to controls. I also don't think F-16 has a way to disable fly-by-wire.

      Considering jets like the F-22 can pull far more than their squishy pilots can withstand it's a rather needed function. They actually have something like the pilot assist built in just to keep the pilots from killing themselves.
      Use to have a blast watching the pilots train at Tyndall Airforce base and over the gulf. You could always tell the newest ones because they'd have them doing super low speed maneuvers and they'd be wobbling all over the place trying to keep it JUST above stall speeds.

    Its a system implemented on newer F16s, it uses altitude, speed, bank and dive angle information alongside stick input information to determine wether a pilot is or isnt blacked out. Once it determines the pilot is unconscious it will straighten out the aircraft and pull it up from a nosedive into a shallow climb till the pilot regains consciousness and takes back control of the aircraft.

    • @PvtPartzz

      It's not so much about being able to pull MORE G's as much as it is about pulling CONSISTENT G's. Without this "trick," you'll pull the same G's until you black out, then your plane will reduce it's G-load to maybe half of what you're inputting. But with this, you're maxing out that turn until you stop trimming the aircraft.

    • @evangalinsky2499
      @evangalinsky2499 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mental_defect because unlike those other jets it was restricted in real life by design and not through the limitations of the actual machine itself. Btw, the F-16 isn't the only "limited" aircraft. The Mirage 2000 should actually be able to do MORE than it can currently in game, and not less like you claim for other jets, just like the F-16, except unlike the F-16 it's not very accurate. After the changes made to the 16 its actually pretty spot on for an A model.
      Make sure you're also not comparing the DCS C model Block 50 to the A model Block 10/15/20 in WT. The C model is an absolute monster compared to the A.

    I mean what this really means is they should extend G loc mechanics to include total unconsciousness and not let you change control modes while unconscious.

    • @trader4trader766
      @trader4trader766 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. What this REALLY means is extend the same g limit to all the other jets so no one pulls 15G+ .

    "It's not cheating", yeah even if sim controls didn't make your plane turn better than realistic controls on air/ground rb (real and clearly unintentional stuff) it's still some shady tactic to pull. For some reason changing to full real controls on rb mode doesn't disable instructor so you can not flatspin from doing this. I think a good way to limit it (and encourage even more avoiding blackouts) would be lower or disable instructor when pilot blacks out.

      Oh you can...
      I've done it...
      But i can just switch it back to normal RB controls and get instructor back and regain control

      @@kajmak64bit76 yeah you must have done something your plane really did not like to flat spin in air rb

    I really dislike the blackout mechanic, glad this is here.
    also this *does* have implications for lower tier aircraft. If you dont have an aced pilot 8gs can knock them out quickly. Its been a while since ive played so I dont know if this got buffed or nerfed.

      Don't. Keep the plane 375kt and _occasionally_ use combat flaps when you need the extra lift, and can sacrifice speed:)

  • @nickmarte3279
    @nickmarte3279 ปีที่แล้ว

    The real point is that this should not be allowed in realistic. Do it in sim not realistic or arcade. This is something that is not only a problem in jest but also props, not using it instantly puts you at a disadvantage agents anyone who is. When you get those moments we’re your like I know that plane can’t pull that hard but it just did, there most likely using this in game “mechanic”. Yes everyone has access to it but it was not meant to be used this way.

    Lol, what?! F-16s and many modern jets do indeed auto-correct their flight as they are aerodynamically unstable. A human pilot can't even fly them without the computers assistance. The plane will also attempt to self-correct for stalls. Plenty of footage of this capability, just look up fighter jet trying to fly itself after pilot ejected. Detecting a passed out pilot would be easy with all the modern biometric monitors we have. You could reasonably even program the plane to intentionally pull a small amount of negative Gs to try and help wake the pilot up.
